The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Found this little gem on the internet. Fantastic pub, foor was amazing and the staff super friendly. Mike the landlord is very friendly. Our dog was also spoiled by the locals with dog treats. Cider pub vitrd 2024. Well worth a visit.

Can't recommend this highly enough. We popped in for lunch one day and went back for breakfast the next. Great choice on the menu and all freshly cooked. Lovely warm and friendly welcome - not only from the staff but from other customers (mostly local I think). Oh and the view is flippin' gorgeous as well!

We were looking for a local pub to visit and have dinner . We had a look and the Manor House inn had lovely reviews. Oh my goodness they did not disappoint us. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were treated beautifully Everyone was so helpful and answered all questions we had about the food, the Cornish yarg lol they will know ha ha The selection of beers and wine they stocked Food was amazing and perfectly cooked as well as beautifully presented Our servers looked after us all evening and I can honestly say one of the best experiences we have ever had Thank you so much for a gorgeous evening We will definitely be returning With kind regards and thanks Debbie and Rob

We really enjoyed the carvery at the Manor House today: excellent food and plenty of it. Good value too. Although the pub was busy the staff were very pleasant and attentive. I would happily recommend the Sunday carvery to anyone.

Superb place for a slice of quiche type of lunch. Lovely home made fare, delightful service, ‘ tucked away from it all’ ambience. Wholesome fare.

Lovely pub and had an amazing Sunday roast. The staff were very friendly and I would say it is a must visit!!! Can’t wait to come again.

I'm somewhat of a like what I like kind of person and try to avoid things 8ve never tried. I've been getting the best crispy bacon sandwich weekly for years but I tried the Hearty bap earlier.....oh my days! It was absolutely delicious and very good value. Sausage bacon fried egg in a soft white bun. Was banging. Thank you

What a delightful evening learning how to make a door wreath. A lovely welcome with snow suddenly falling over the entrance ! The wreath making demonstration was informal with everything supplied to make and design your own wreath after tucking into a scrummy snack menu and mulled wine finishing off the evening with a mince pie ! Just perfect !!!

One of the best meals we have eaten in a long time! Every dish was unique and finished to a very high standard with nice sauces and textures! Cheese puffs, kolarabi ceviche and roasted cabbage where some of our favourites and the almond tart desert had my wife very excited for days! All in a lovely setting and service was top notch! Couldn't reccomendend highly enough when visiting wells!

Our second visit to this lovely cafe whilst we were holidaying near Totnes. Friendly service, clean tables and a great breakfast. Well worth a visit.

Following the reviews on here & having just moved down to Calstock nearby three days before, we booked a table of six - one a birthday & three visitors down from Yorkshire. We even went over the evening before to check it out & decided it looked ideal - there was a fresh meat stand in one corner & lovely strains of presumably a local choir practicing folk songs wafting down from upstairs, great beer & we were shown the table we would have - all good. Turned up next night &, though the same barman was busy, nodded us through to our table & settled in. Just a few people drinking at the bar & no one eating at that stage. Got drinks in & looked at the menus. And then we waited, & waited. Two lovely young girls serving but in the end , after 15minutes we had to make a point of calling out to one to try & place our order. In the meantime the barman had come out to chat to a couple who had sat down to eat but did not come over to us. We were informed by the girl that we could not place an order yet as the kitchen had a large party to cook for upstairs & we’d have to wait till they were all done. Surprised, we enquired how long that would be. After checking, we were told half an hour… We were distinctly not impressed with this as at no point had we been warned that this might happen so after a further 15 minutes & drinks finished, we decided to cut our losses & leave. The large barman, who was the only person seemingly in charge, at no stage came over although he was obviously aware of our plight. Miraculously, when we got up to leave he disappeared completely & one of the young ladies was left to see us out. We expressed our complete disappointment with the whole situation & left. We felt extremely sorry that the girl had been left to carry the can & swore never to bother coming back., I cannot believe this is the same place as in the other reviews - apart from the lovely pub & excellent beer. A total disappointment. We ended up having an excellent Indian meal in Callington which thankfully salvaged the evening.

Great Christmas lunch 2024, perfect. We have eaten at the old rectory on several occasions and we are never disappointed. The intimacy of the rooms may not suit everyone but service, food and wine are always excellent. Highly recommended. Diane and Bob Cirencester.
