Superb place for a slice of quiche type of lunch. Lovely home made fare, delightful service, ‘ tucked away from it all’ ambience. Wholesome fare.

Ideally I’d rate this place a 3.5 out of 5 but that’s not possible and a 3 seems a little low….we visited a couple of days ago. The pros are the coffee is great and the panna cotta was fantastic! The tiny negatives are the service was a tiny bit surly, we were told to sit outside and they’ll take our order unless they forget about us and we are to come in, and the quiche, although it looked delicious (blue cheese and broccoli) it was a bit tasteless and a little too eggy for me. That said, we frequently visit the area so would likely return!

Fabulous. Fantastic setting. Fantastic staff, polite and friendly. Great food. So peaceful. I had the broccoli, courgette, spinach stilton soup, must say was the tastiest I have had. Bread was delicious too. Hubby had prawn baguette, jam packed with Prawns, great salad. Will definitely revisit. Going to try their Sunday Lunch next, watch this space

The venue is lovely - can't complain about that. Food was average, a tuna baguette that I could have made for half the price at home and a jacket potato with a skin that was so tough it was inedible. Both with wilted rocket leaves and no other accompaniments. (At roughly 8/9 quid, some coleslaw wouldn't go amiss) The staff (apart from one very polite, younger girl) looked as though they'd rather be anywhere else in the world than serving us. Used to rate it here and hadn't been for a while, but won't be back unless it improves.

The original reason my wife & I visited the Cowslip Workshops property whilst on holiday in Cornwall was the quilt shop. But when we saw they had a cafe on site WITH the option of a cream tea (a novelty to us Americans), we were compelled to take advantage of dining in proximity. Seating on the covered patio with views of the owner's extensive gardens was an ideal setting on a warm-ish early summer day to experience our first cream tea, and Cowslip made us converts to the tradition. Paired with a delicious variety of small bites on our ploughman's plate & fresh bread baked locally, the large & tasty scones with clotted cream & fruity jam gave us a meal we won't soon forget. The only reason I didn't give our visit a 5 Circles rating was because of the service received (or not), which was spotty at best & required us to leave the table more than once to make sure our order was going to be taken and then prepared & delivered. I hope that situation has been or at least is being resolved by Cafe management, as other TA reviewers have been much more pointed recently regarding the overall poor service during their meals. Food as delicious as this - with very good presentation of the dishes as served - deserves equally remarkable staff to make the customers' experiences memorable & worthy of a return visit.

We’ve been long term customers if this cafe and today was an exception to the norm. My sandwich was not as I had asked. Been here before but thought we would try again. Arrived as it opened for Breakfast. Waited for about 5 minutes before the staff spoke to us as they were very busy having a chat. One table being used. The server said if we wanted coffee and cake she could squeeze us into a table which had junk on it. If we wanted breakfast the meat delivery hadn't arrived so the breakfast would be without the meat element. When I asked when the meat would arrive (due an hour earlier) she replied I haven't a clue, they are less than 10 minutes away from Warrens!). So Cowslip wanted us to sit at a table that wasn't ready (with loads of empty tables available) and pay full price for half a breakfast. We felt like we should apologise for visiting and disturbing them. We will not try a third time.

A stunningly beautiful spot that serves outstanding coffee. I went the the Cowslip Cafe recently with members of my family. I was astounded at the beauty of the place, set as it is within a gorgeous garden with spectacular views over the open countryside. There is a very wide selection of cakes and other food, which my family gratefully partook of! The parking is more than adequate, which helps, as my Mother is disabled. Unfortunately there is nothing for those on a plant based diet that I was able to discern apart from an apple cake, which was very tasty. The lack of choice for vegans will preclude me from revisiting often, though my family eat the standard British diet, so it was great for them. The staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful.

It was my husbands birthday and my daughter was visiting with her partner so I decided to book a table for the Supper Night on 28th June. We have visited for lunch and cakes and coffee quite a few times so I was confident that we would have a good evening( how wrong was I) We placed our order and as it was BYO for drinks we filled our glasses after placing our orders and were looking forward to our meal. I was very disappointed with the main course I had a chickpea curry and the rest of the family had the chicken I have never seen food look so unappetising it all looked beige no colour in any of it and it was so bland if I had been blindfolded I don't think I would have recognised it as a curry it really felt like we had been served a packet curry I don't know if it was the normal chef on but this meal was not up to their usual good standard . We were very disappointed and even though the waitress checked a couple of times if we were happy I didn't want to make a fuss and complain so we just picked at it I was very upset but didn't want to ruin the evening by complaining but we probually won't be going there again.

Cowslip Cafe has beautiful rural surroundings set above the town of Launceston. Attention to detail throughout with gorgeous quilting as part of the decor. We were welcomed and made to feel special on this our second visit. The menu was fresh with a good range of choice. The food is lush and will not disappoint. My Moroccan lamb stew was cooked to perfection and my husband had the tasty chilli beef nachos. You must try the profiteroles they were so light and the chocolate sauce had a beautiful flavour. There are also cakes to die for. Thanks for a great lunch Cowslips

I was recommend to call in at cowslip from my quilting ladies who had been on workshops. The sat nav postcode does not take you to the workshop or cafe, however a very nice man did give us the right directions - it’s near the golf course and then down a farm track ....probably 2 miles out ...

We stopped for lunch at Cowslips to break up our journey after finding it on trip advisor. We sat outside with our puppy and we were delighted by the wonderful service, delicious food and fantastic views over Launceston. Some reviews mentioned that it’s on the pricier end, however we found that for the quality and quantity of food it was really good value for money. We would recommend jacket potatoes cooked in the Aga, the Caesar salad and the home made quiche! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area

Drive down the track into the Cowslip buildings in the countryside just outside Launceston to be surprised by the great food on offer. It looks unlikely and is rustic rather than smart but the food is great. £7.50 seems a bit too much for a cream tea but it was good, and there was a big selection of freshly baked cakes on offer. Plenty of savoury options for lunch as well, using all local produce. Service was fine. And we really enjoyed the free quilt exhibition in the barn, exquisite work. Free parking in the paddock.

We always stop here for lunch on our way to and from West Cornwall each summer. It's a wonderful location, relaxing and beautiful. The food is excellent, top quality, very tasty and interesting. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. I love to look in the shop and there is usually an exhibition when we drop by. My husband is vegetarian and there is always lots of choice for him. My two daughters love their annual visits here, really nice cakes and ice cream! Everyone at Cowslip works hard to create a wonderful experience. Reasonably priced for good quality food.

I always look forward to a trip to Cowslips. I've never had a bad experience there. The staff are always friendly and the food has never disappointed. It is an oasis of calm in a frantic hurry-up world. It's a place to linger and enjoy the tranquility. I highly recommend the Courgette cake, but then again, if everyone tried it, there might not be any left for me.

Stunning location and relaxing too, but the prices for the food are blatantly ripping people off.

We had a lovely afternoon tea in this idyllic setting off the beaten track in Cornwall. Good service and some of the best scones ever - perfectly fresh but be warned, they are huge and you get two each!

Visited here on a hot summer afternoon and was delighted to find a beautiful little cottage style garden, with plenty of seating either in the shade or full sun. The cafe itself was well laid out with indoor seating and a relaxed country cottage feel. The staff all seemed very pleasant and welcoming.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.
