Manor Hoise Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We really enjoyed the carvery at the Manor House today: excellent food and plenty of it. Good value too. Although the pub was busy the staff were very pleasant and attentive. I would happily recommend the Sunday carvery to anyone.

Fabulous food including home made mayonnaise. Superb side salad and home made puds. Very good value for money. Well worth the dreadful weather en route. Friendly welcome. Worth the trip.

DO NOT GO HERE if you are a VEGAN. There is nothing on the menu. The chefs offered me a beetroot burger, which was dry and tasteless, placed inside a white sesame bun (untoasted) with lettuce and tomato. In today's society, veganism is very prevalent, so I fail to understand why such a highly rated restaurant fails to have one good meal always readily available for a vegan. I'm very disappointed.

A real gem of a find with superb food. This was the best pub meal I have had for a very long time and prices were competitive with 6 mains costing around £100, not including drinks. Note that this pub is not in Callington itself, it's in the small village of Rilla Mill a few miles outside Callington.

This review is based on our overall 'experience', in the hope that it isn't repeated for other diners. No criticism of the food at all. We booked a table here for 7pm to enable us to eat early. The pub was busy and most tables were already filling up when we arrived. The bar woman was very swift in taking our drinks orders and reasonably quick in bringing our drinks to the table. However, no menus were made available for us to make our choice of food. After at least 25 minutes of waiting we asked for menus, only to be told she would bring them over later. Another wait and finally she did bring some menus out, by which time at least 3 choices on the menu were 'sold out'. We all made our choices quickly (as by now we had some very hungry people) and ordered around 7.40, our food was finally brought to our table at 8.40 (following us enquiring when we could expect our food), although one of our group was left waiting for a meal whilst people on the next table who arrived and ordered after us received the same meal that she was waiting for. The main meals that we each received were excellent, we could not fault them. Unfortunately, we never got to eat desserts as we could not risk waiting another long period as we had commitments early the next morning. The disappointment was in the service we received resulting in a poor experience overall. Sadly, although this is our 'local' pub we have been put off returning anytime soon due to the young bar woman's brusque, verging on rude attitude re menus and our long wait for food
