The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Went for breakfast as recommended with good reviews, plus visited many years ago, we were not disappointed, very warm welcome and shown to our seats. Menus on the table, both chose full English breakfast, which arrived very quickly. All of the ingredients were of good quality and cooked to perfection, possibly the best sausage i have ever had , we were also accommodated with fried bread instead of toast. Absolutely Perfect breakfast, would recommend and will be returning

Always a warm welcome from Wayne and his staff, and nothing is too much trouble. They are always happy to adapt the menu to cater for my dietary needs and the food is always excellent and great value for money. Thank you.

We dined on New Years Day along with friends. This was our 5th visit to The Clubhouse, and as ever the food quality and quantity were superb, and at a very reasonable cost of £30 for three courses. The restaurant is light and airy, the staff always attentive and helpful. And if the weather is clement you can always go for a post-prandial walk along Chesil Beach.

Such an amazing location. We sat indoors today, (booking is advisable) but outdoors is also lovely when it's not raining or blowing a gale. We have been walking (It's only accessible by boat, bike or on foot) to The Turf for 40 years and so were keen to try it under its new management. We were not disappointed and definitely will be back again soon.

A great little stop off for tea and cake with fantasic views to the Welsh Hills on a clear day. The warm scones are delicious and reasonably priced.

4 of us visited the compass for lunch it was excellent we enjoyed it the staff were very pleasant and will definitely come back

uch a warm friendly inviting pub! Food was absolutely out of this world. Such a hard decision to choose from all the mouthwatering options on the menu and seeing all the food coming out made it even harder to choose! The dessert looked so good i got one to take away! Definitely will be returning. Hats off and a big thank you to the chef and the front of house staff for a perfect evening. Food was so good I forgot to take photos but I did manage to remember to take a snap of my starter Japanese Panko coated prawns, they were to die for (may have ate a few before the photo whoops!)

All winter we have regularly been going to the Veranda restaurant for crab sandwiches which have been delicious and packed full of white crab meat albeit the price has gone up over the last six months they have still been worth it . Today however the crab sandwich was a very poor relation to what we have had previously more like a mixed pate with brown meat and salad vegetables, the sandwich was probably half the thickness to the one we had earlier in the month . Is this the start of the summer trade for visitors no wonder they come once and don’t return complaining of being ripped off . We felt ashamed of the standard offered for a £19 sandwich

Although it was very quiet, we were rushed to make our order. Over priced and food underwhelming. Very unimpressed. Food was not hot. Will not go back

Lovely food. Excellent milk shakes. Couldn't fault the food. However, the service let the score down. Not enough staff. Only 2 serving. They did the best they could under the circumstances. I did feel sorry for them.

We were attracted by the terrace with lovely views overlooking the sea on a sunny evening. The restaurant wasn’t yet open but we were able to order drinks and light meals, which were pretty good. We did feel that service was a little inconsistent between staff members. Drinks were quite pricey but a shame we weren’t there in time for happy hour between 5-6!

Excellent pasty. Busy on a Saturday.

Fabulous service and food. The best fish and chips we have had. Freshly cooked haddock and chips, delicious and a good price.

Please guys can you change your coffee suppliers and organise baresta training as the coffee is always bitter where the coffee grouts are not cleaned out properly. Every time we go the food always look good but the horrible coffee let’s them down! We love the centre but now feel we have to go elsewhere to eat and drink. The public are far more aware now of good coffee with the ambulance of choice around!
