Serving great breakfasts and lunches, with a very friendly staff who made us most welcome. Small outdoor seated area is great, when the sun shines.

My mother and I had a delicious lunch at Waltham Place. It’s a set menu and everything was delicious and the service very warm and friendly. We enjoyed a very informative and enjoyable 2 hour private tour (£40 total for a group of up to 4 people) by one of the estate’s very experienced gardeners, Tim. The gardens are stunning and set against the backdrop of the beautiful house. We had a fantastic afternoon and will definitely come back.

Following on from my collapse. I understand the punters and landlord maybe thouht i was drunk. The truth is i suffer from a condition that makes me black out for a certain time 10secs - 4-5mins. I tried to explain it to the landlord the first time i was there but he was ignorant and just thought i was drunk. During these episides i do not remember anything. This establishment i very unhospitable.

Booked a table for 4 for Sunday lunch, never been there before, we were more then impressed by absolutely everything. The staff attitude nd customer service, family run, although the food was a bit late but the team couldn’t apologise enough. The pub/restaurant was full with happy customers which added a beautiful atmosphere. We’ve not been to such happy, great food, great customer service, good value for money in ages. Well done guys, can’t wait to revisit you again soon. Have the Zero Guinness ready 😉👍

Nice to be out on a Bank Holiday! Having a wife from Zimbabwae, finding steak that is up to her Braai standards is hard, she was very happy! Our daughter destroyed the biltong and boerewors, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Bobotie. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty and we will be back!

5 of us went on a Saturday evening and were extremely impressed with both the standard of cooking, presentation and service. Jez, Holly and Jamie were appropriately attentive and there was nothing we could really criticise. As a group the courses we had that were the rabbit lasagne, fish soup monkfish, steak and chocolate delice which also looked beautiful. A seriously good chef and appropriately limited menu.

One star review. I am so disappointed, and more so because I didn't read the reviews beforehand. My excuse is that I knew the pub from some years ago. It's a lovely old pub and use to have a complementarity atmosphere to go with it. Not now!!! It's tired dust, dirty floors in bar (and it's not been raining) I won't be showering as I don't want to put my feel on the shower cubicle floor. I have my dog with me and having paid £20 for him, I expect, at the very least, a treat when we booked in. A bed and water bowl maybe, But, at The Olde Bell...nothing! I should have gone back to the Travelodge! I have a bad cold. Am tired from travelling and I was looking forward to treating myself to a lovely dinner. I couldn’t book into the dining room as I have me dog with me and the info in my room says dogs are not allowed to be left left alone in room so I went to the bar. It was empty dry and unloved. Staff lacking, but eventually someone arrived. A smile with the mouth does not equate to a genuine smile. I am a celiac and ordered lamb shank, grain mustard, mash potato, honeyed carrots, savoy cabbage and gravy, Yum yum. and it was gf free. I waited with a glass of red wine on anticipation of my plate of food, lamb shank is a particular favourite of mine. It arrived in 5mins...whoops should have realised!! What arrived was a shock. Reheated slimy lambshank. Wallpaper paste mascarading as mash potato with hard dried lumps, honey carrots so over cooked they dissolved and the savoy cabbage drowned in thin tasteless gravy that I couldn't disguish what I was eating. I tried to eat it as I was so hungry, but couldn't. I sent it back. What come back was the same plate with an extra carrot piece slightly firmer than the rest and a new display if wallpaper paste, I gave up. Ugh. I haven't had a plate, or two of such bad quality for years...even boarding school was better. Of course I said I wasn't going to pay. Ordered a glass of red wine and a packet of crisps and went back to my room to eat my supper. Best Western, shame on you. Where are your standards ???
