Following on from my collapse. I understand the punters and landlord maybe thouht i was drunk. The truth is i suffer from a condition that makes me black out for a certain time 10secs - 4-5mins. I tried to explain it to the landlord the first time i was there but he was ignorant and just thought i was drunk. During these episides i do not remember anything. This establishment i very unhospitable.

Visited here on Saturday with the family....Staff behind the bar were friendly and greeted you with a smile.. unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy the food. There were only two starters to really choose from unless you include pork pie or pickled egg as a starter ... I had the courgette ribbons and the wife had tomato and onion salad... The courgette dish consisted of a huge plate of raw courgette with a dusting of parmesan and pine nuts. Unfortunately, I found it bland and out of proportion. The wife's tomato salad was ok but nothing special. For mains I had the bambi burger.. The bun and dressing was fine but the burger was a little overcooked and dry. There were only five mains to choose from (I think) and two of those were deer dishes, not ideal if you don't like deer, as per my wife. So she went for a mozzarella salad, which again was ok but lacked any inspiration.. It is a shame I'm writing a review with an average score as I had heard good things about this place... Maybe I just caught them on a bad day

Had the fish and chips with crushed peas. A medium sized piece of ling in excellent batter served on a bed of crushed minted peas (with garlic, I think) and a good dollop of tartare sauce, along with a separate bowl of excellent crispy chips with a container of tomato sauce. A good latte coffee as well, and an excellent range of different drinks to top it all off.

This pub is mainly a beer place food is variable but they do try, quite expensive for lack of restaurant ambiance and lack of table service - everything ordered at the bar. Very popular with the locals for a drink, the female manager is rather fierce so better not to cross her lines, what ever they are? I heard her speak in a manner to a customer that was not acceptable. This pub seems to have a following of local people fir food and beer.

Lovely location in the heart of the village by the church and the pound. A traditional pub with 5+ real ales and ciders etc. A restricted but good choice of food and not your run of the mill pub food. Large enclosed beer garden to the rear. Food good but not outstanding.

I have just been directed by trip advisor to review this pub. Well I did it a few months ago and cannot understand where all the other reviews have gone? This is a real English pub. I mean, old building with bags of history. Low beams in centre of village next to church. Lots of little rooms and different levels inside. Lovely food and great beers. Sit out the front and watch the odd car go by or in the garden out back. This is the real deal.

Saturday lunch in this great little pub! Had the crackling as a snack before the Bambi Burger, both were absolutely brilliant! It seems the majority of items are made onsite, including their delicious ketchup! Staff great and really happy to make sure you are well looked after! Will return again and again!

I'm puzzled that there is only one review of the The Bell Inn. The pub is one of our favourites. Always a good selection of real ales and good food although we tend to go to pubs for their ale rather than their food. We visit the pub mainly on good weather days as we enjoy sitting out the front watching the world go by and exchanging good humoured insults with the eccentric locals who are having a naughty smoke. Seating indoors is limited. Never the less highly recommended.

The bell can be good fun at the bar with the rustic feel but there are plenty of tables to have your food at. The food came out in good time even though they were busy and all our meals were great leaving clean plates.

Great place and very unusual in that the building is held in Trust by and for the benefit of the local Parishioners/Village population...Great ales and ciders and unusual lagers for those who enjoy that particular beer. Hungry? interesting and eclectic menu - the Rib Eye...

We went here with some colleagues and had dinner. You need to order me by one at the counter, which takes some time and results in different arrival times if the food. My dish (mussels as main course) were very good but not very cheap....

Beer is good. A very old timber framed building with a nice little beer garden out the rear with trees. Food is rather expensive and a somewhat strange, or unconventional menu. Usually have to restrict myself to the Bambi Burger which comes in at around...

The Bell is a beautiful old building situated in an unspoilt village - Waltham St Lawrence. I have been a few times recently, the bar staff are friendly, beer is great (and cider), food is good and price is reasonable. If the weather is good...

La Croisette situated within Daniel's department store. Family run restaurant serving great food all day, whether it's a fulfilling breakfast, scrummy lunch or just a coffee or tea break, call in & have a relaxing meal in a lovely store, you won't be disappointed!
