The Fifield Inn has restored my faith in pub food! It ticks all the boxes of quality, value and service. My wife and I dined at The Fifield Inn yesterday lunch time. We were surprised with how the menu had been elevated since our last visit. It looked fantastic and we deliberated long and hard before making our choices. I had the wood pigeon salad to start followed by the halibut. My wife had the burrata salad and the pork katsu scoth egg. All dishes were extremely well cooked and extremely tasty. Staff friendly and attentive.

We dined at The Fifield Inn with friends a few weeks ago. We've been regulars here for a number of years now and try to support as best we can. The food being produced over recent months is fantastic, I have to say. The front of house team is exceptional under the guidance of the new General Manager, Phillipe. We dined on a Sunday and the roast dinners were beautiful, pretty much faultless in all honesty. I enquired as to how many they had booked for Sunday lunch and the response was around 120 people !! For a local village pub, that's quite exceptional and a testament to the team. Well done The Fifield Inn, long may it continue.....

I first popped in last Thursday to book a table for my Uncle's birthday. Laura was exceptional, she reserved us the quietest table to suit my Uncle's hearing ability, thank you, you're amazing. We both very much enjoyed our Sunday roast chicken and lamb, very tasty, large perfect sized portions. Desserts followed, very nice too. We could not fault the food and enjoyed it. The service was perfect, food came quickly, staff were lovely, very welcoming, very attentive, all in a relaxing and welcoming environment. It was great to try somewhere new, I look forward to returning ASAP. Highly recommended.

Having lived in Maidenhead, Berkshire, for 20 years, we moved to Vancouver. Whenever we come back to visit, we are so disappointed to find that the community, warm and welcoming atmosphere of the British pub appears to be disappearing. BUT, not at Fifield Inn. The new owner is determined to keep the “village” in the pub, but with all of today’s expectations. The menu/cook was wonderful. The staff are happy and engaging. The atmosphere, welcoming. The owner Arun, very friendly, and committed to maintaining his mission of keeping the “British Pub” alive. Lovely al fresco dining or cozy indoor space. Full bar. Friendly clientele. Plenty of parking. Close to Maidenhead and Windsor. We will be back!

The place is a really nice environment and the staff were lovely but it took over an hour to bring out food that had been pre-ordered days before. Portions were pretty mean and just poor value. I have visited your pub various times usually for a Sunday Lunch with family. Recently there was an incident involving one of your staff members, Beth, which I happened to witness at the pub in Windsor. I think that your members of staff are a reflection of your pub/ company. To see one of your staff members attack various people was something I did not expect to see nor did I expect a staff member to act like this, considering how nice and presentable all the staff at your pub are. This really can bring a company image down.

I came here on Sunday with my family. We all had roast beef and it was lovely. The beef was obviously of good quality and the range of vegetables was amazing. We had red cabbage, carrots, broccoli, swede and leeks. The portion sizes were large and well worth the money we paid. Overall a great sunday dinner. We sat outside to make the most of the last bit of sun. The outside area has just been done up we were told as this was our first visit and did not know the pub before this occasion. The tables and chairs were lovely and we were happy to see that the area was non smoking. Me and my husband had a bottle of wine (Gavi) it was lovely and looking at the wine list they had some great wines by the glass, that were not that expensive at all. We will definately be coming back and eating here again. Excited to try the lunch menu as there seems to be some lovely dishes on that. The manager was friendly and greeted us at the door when we walked in which was nice. You dont get that so much nowadays. Cannot wait to come back and have rebooked a table for next Sunday already. They must fill up quite quickly so would recommend to book as soon as possible. Cant wait to come again and see all the friendly faces and eat some fantastic food.

staying a mile away we walked here one evening for dinner. was disappointed with the choice of lager. also asked for a j20 for my 5 yr old son. but they don't do them either. was offered an alternative but no choice on flavours. a bit like the green oak the menu is limited (is this a greene king theme) I asked for fish and chips. which was not available on this day. so opted for the burger. which was nice. it came with a mug full of overcooked and very small chips. I know presentation matters but surely a mug with burnt chips in it is not necessary. my wife ordered lamb. again due to there being nothing else on the menu to take her fancy which was very nice.. our son had linguine. which was tasty. our pate starter was very nice and big enough that we could have shared one. staff didn't make too much effort. just going through the motions really. certainly no reason for us to return which is a shame as the outdoor seating area is lovely.

Took the family and a group of friends to the fifield inn after a recommendation by a colleague. We were certainly not disappointed. The food was simply devine. The sharing platters were a great starter for us all to graze on whilst enjoying a few glasses of wine. The main courses presentation was so well put together and the tastes of all were more than satisfactory. The deserts were of the right proportion and just enough to round off an outstanding meal. Throughout the evening all the staff were friendly jolly and I genuinely felt they were happy to be at work on a Saturday night, which certainly showed. We had an early dinner on a Monday. We were greeted on arrival and as we arrived prior to the kitchen being open we had a drink and were offered either to reserve a table or eat at the table we had a drink at, menus were provided and we were told our order would be taken once the kitchen was open. This happened promptly. The menu was great with a good selection. The food was brought out promptly. Unfortunately the food was average. If I visit again I would stick to the basic dishes such as sausages, ham or fish and chips. In conclusion this is a lovely place to relax in with a drink and papers, but stick with the more basic menu items. That being said the service was very attentive.

A successful refurbished local pub restaurant. Specials today crispy chilli beef salad , toad in the hole and retro strawberry trifle ( with hundreds and thousands with homemade shortbread finger- buttery and melt in the mouth) such a difference to the usual pub grub , well presented, carefully balanced flavours. Steak and kidney pudding suet light , tender meat exceptional , served with roasted parsnip and red wine jus. It's all in the cooking respecting the meats. Accessible for wheelchair users but no disabled toilets , but slimline grab rails are being fitted. Helpful friendly staff opening doors and settling us in make it a refreshing change. I first reviewed this place early last year and could not have been more complimentary. It stayed that way for months but then, last summer it seemed to be on the slide. The manager/ owner never seemed to be around anymore. We stopped going for a while but then gave it another try.....not bad. 1 good meal, 1 poor but they adjusted the bill at least.However...we've just been back. Alarm bells immediately. No guest beer, just the regular Greedy King offerings....and it was virtually empty!Service was poor, especially so as there were hardly any customers. Then the food. At least my wife's meal was edible. I used to LOVE the fillet steaks here. No longer on he menu. I am a fussy eater so ordered the safe option, Cheeseburger. Can's go wrong can they? I have had a few here in the past and very nice they were too. This one needed a chain saw! Just like a solid kebab in a burnt bun. Then the triple cooked chips. Previously, lovely. This time, I left half of them.Sure, they adjusted the bill but that's not the point. It has just dropped off our radar for ever. It used to be our favourite in the area. SORT IT!

When he complained it was taken to the kitchen, washed, tooth marks and all and put in a fresh bun! Another had stone cold food, which they zapped in a microwave!. The veg was gritty and unwashed. We are scouting for a nice pub to take some visitors to for lunch after Xmas and after a 10year gap since our last visit decided to try this one.III went for the "extra creamy macaroni cheese" (from the specials board) whilst hubby had the fish and chips. Now, I want to keep this as concise as possible - whilst I did eat the macaroni I feel I was short-changed on the "extra creamy" bit, there was only the lightest coating of cheese sauce on this pasta it tasted OK but that's all. £10.95 was a bit pricey for an average dish. However, hubby's "Scottish Haddock (Caught Fresh Daily and Ale Battered)" was a thin, small fillet of which he could only eat about a quarter. The remainder had a real problem as it was like a piece of rubber! Even the waitress said "oh no, I'll take that back to the kitchen" and then returned to offer a replacement, which he refused and the cost was taken off the bill. (£12-ish) . It may well have been from Scotland but that's where the similarity with the menu description ended.Seriously, a 4 pack of battered haddock fillets from the supermarket has far more flavour and eat-ability than that offering from the Fifield inn today. Deeply, deeply disappointing. On the other hand - 3 cheers for serving Peroni hip hip hooray!Oh yes and the chips were good.Unfortunately though we will not return and definitely not taking friends there ever.

This review was compiled by my father in law. Last year our group had xmas lunch here, it wasn't great. Our "leader" wasn't well & we ended up here again as an easy option. We arrived 12.30, gone 3 by the time we had cups of tea. Soup was ok, but the turkey parcels 1.5" and no bacon around them, and burnt too, stuffing like bullets, mush carrot not great. Bread & butter 3" by 2", tea spoon of ice cream, tasted ok. We did complain but no one was interested, the manager was out, the chef was busy (but who with?, as no one else was there). There will not be a 3rd time.

Having visited The Fifield Inn for lunch last summer, I was looking forward to returning for an evening with friends this evening. We were really looking forward to a lovely honest well cooked meal.On arrival at our table we were immediately informed of the items on the menu that were not available. It seemed early into evening service (7.45pm) to run out of food. We then ordered some drinks but when they arrived they were wrong - the waitress was quick to sort that out.We all decided to have the beef wellington for our main course, which came with dauphinois potatoes and fresh vegetables. When it arrived the beef Wellington was nothing like we were hoping for. Although it was not fillet steak, and the menu indicated that it was braised steak, it turned out to be pieces of stewing steak in a pastry wrap; no pate, no mushrooms and with shortcrust pastry. It was in fact a steak pie. When challenged, the waiter said it was the chef's take on a Wellington. The result was dry meat and dry pastry, very disappointing for £16. He didn't seem to understand the problem. We hoped to enjoy our desserts but when the fruit crumble arrived it was Luke warm and the custard was cold. I asked if I could have hot custard (cold custard is fine on a trifle, but with crumble??). By the time it had been returned to the kitchen (and I presume reheated) my friends were at end of theirs so I politely asked to return it for a refund on the bill. The cheese board on the menu was expensive at £8.95, when asked what it consisted of the waiter explained they were light on cheese tonight and offered a surprisingly limited selection, unsurprisingly my friend declined and ordered an espresso coffee which was served in a small cup but no saucer, spoon or sugar....We wanted to raise our concerns with the waiter to give him a chance to rectify the matter but felt he was rather off with us and resented our dissatisfaction. There was no attempt to address any of our concerns and no acknowledgement that the meals did not meet our expectations. We did not have the evening we hoped for and would not recommend or return to The Fifield Inn. If you advertise fine food you really must deliver, and take on board these reviews on Trip Adviser, I see there are a few similar experiences to our own.

Went with two friends. Service was not bad (a little slow considering we were one of only a few tables in there, had to call staff over to place order and go up to bar to chase up a drink that hadn't come) but the girls had smiles on their faces and were very polite. Ordered food which arrived after 10 mins, two fish pie and a burger. The burger was obviously a good quality one but must have been cooked some time prior to us arriving and was clearly microwaved with a slice of cheese to heat it up. Very overcooked and rubbery (not sizzling and juicy as you would expect a freshly cooked burger to be) but the chips were lovely. The fish pies were quite strange - one had a large quantity of fish, the other had about three small pieces. The fish was again obviously precooked and reheated and looked very overdone and quite frankly old! The menu stated cheesy mash, the pies actually came with mustard mash which was quite grey in colour and contained a large quantity of mustard. The veg again was quite sorry looking and the carrots had gone a very grey looking shade of orange. When the waitress enquired if everything was ok, we were quite honest and said no, not really up to standard for which she apologised. We checked if the mash was incorrect and she enquired with chef and said (again) sorry - he made a mistake. We were quite surprised not to be offered a free drink to make up for it (or something similar) - we would have much preferred a tasty, freshly cooked meal prepared by an award winning chef as advertised on the menu though!

We had the pub recommended to us by the b&b we stayed in. The food was tasty, although a little overpriced, but the staff were very friendly and great with our son.

Visited here with friends last weekend for a supper after a visit to legoland with the kids. Pub is nice enough but they really need some serious training in basic cooking and food hygiene practices. Ordered 2 kids pasta and meatballs in tomato and basil sauce which turned up with a really strong curried sauce which we had to send back. The replacement plates came back with the meatballs raw in the middle! Fortunately as we still have to cut things up for the kids we spotted it.

I ate at this pub last week with two friends and was a little disappointed. We were firstly told that there was no white bread as their baker had let them down. Next, when two bottles of ginger ale were asked for to make into a long drink we were told they only had one bottle. When we asked what the soup of the day was the lady taking our order had to go and find out. When then asking what the 'summer' vegetables were the lady again had to leave us to find out. My ham, egg and chips was OK, plenty of ham, but one friend said there were probably only about three pieces of mushroom in her chicken and mushroom pie and the other friend who also had the pie said it was 'dry'. Both friends thought the tops of the baby carrots should have been removed but this may just be a chefie thing. We did notice that the pub was advertising for a chef so we might give it another try in the coming mo this as it is a convenient meeting place for my friends and I who are travelling from different directions but at the moment I would have reservations about recommending it.

Been to this place twice now, and on both times we have not been let down, the staff where helpful, but not over bearing, the food was lovely, and good portions, the menu was what you would expect, a mix of good old fashion pub grub, and restaurant types of dishes. The restaurant itself was well laid out, and very spacious, even though it was full. It's well worth a visit.

I really wouldn't bother. Came home and immediately had to clean my teeth. The fish and chips I had were vile. I know it's a Monday, but says on the menu fish fresh daily. I don't believe this even though I checked. The fish didn't taste fresh, the batter was oily and fatty, seemed old batter. As for the chips. Absolutely terrible! I can't believe after the waitress asked if I enjoyed it, with a plateful of batter, chips and some mushy peas, clearly left on the plate. They had the audacity to say I should have told them sooner! What a cheek. The Owner, Keith, who obviously thinks he is far too important to serve, he clearly saw we had finished, but didn't come over, the one waitress was serving some chaps at the bar, whilst he was just standing around doing nothing. Considering they weren't busy, I think his service was an insult. I know strong words, but it was disgusting, the food, the service, and the whole experience. He could have apologised and taken the fish & chips off the bill, but still charged my partner. I think that says it all. He even came to the table to argue with me about it and still took our money! I'm surprised anyone ever eats there it is absolutely awful!!!

Visited yesterday with a group of friends.........really super place; varied, good value for money menu and very pleasant ladies looking after guests. The house white wine certainly not to my taste but a Chilean SB proved a lovely alternative. The only thing that perhaps needs some attention is the garden.........it doesn't seem to match the interior in its style of furniture and is a bit overgrown especially round the entrance area. It's just my opinion though and didn't detract from what was a positive experience.

Pub is very friendly with helpful staff. We arrived as party of four adults and two toddlers. Initially inside we asked to move to very pleasant garden with a play house as weather ok to sit outside. Delay on receiving first course but probably because we ordered the baked Camembert to share as stater. Main course was very delayed in coming! Once arrived RoSt Beef was very tender and ice meal Aswan the adult fish and chips. Steak was not so good as tough and fatty. We will probably go back as it Is a nice pub and nice atmosphere inside. They need to up the service a bit. However worth a try

This would appear to be the second review of this pub/restaurant for last night. My wife and I visited this establishment last night having previously visited on a couple of occasions; one evening having good well presented burgers and on a Sunday lunchtime which was not as good an experience but acceptable.Last night I had a sirloin steak which was cooked as requested, well presented and very tasty but the sauce served - a Barkham blue cheese - ran out of the mini-jug like a salad dressing which was most unusual for a blue cheese sauce but confirmed by the manager/owner as a melted cheese sauce after my swamped plate was taken away and food re-plated.More disappointing was the burger chosen by my wife which was burnt on the underside (could not tell if top was also burnt due to cheese covering) to black cinders. My wife asked for this unacceptable burger to be changed and this duly took place with unusual speed - just a couple of minutes which would seem to be unusual if being cooked freshly? The manager/owner said it was possible that another order was in preparation and hijacked for my wife. The replacement burger was likewise burnt (not to the same extent) but on discussion with the manager/owner we were informed that it was chargrilled not burnt! If this was the case and I had a steak which was also presumably cooked in this manner why the inconsistency? My wife at this point did not want any further food and we paid and left after I completed my meal.We are not used to the confrontational style of challenge exerted by the manager/owner and it is a pity that we shall not be returning to what could be - with a little more close management - a pleasant venue for regular meals.

Great quality food. Great smash burgers. From the US and highly recommend the burgers and that’s say something. Will be back when I return to the UK
