The Fox and Castle in Windsor and Maidenhead

Amazing Sunday lunch! The staff were lovely and really attentive. The food was amazing and came out really fast. The cocktail menu has been fully sampled and we highly approve. A really lovely family friendly place. And our server Callum was excellent, polite, professional and attentive.

This was a great place to stop by for a quick snack. We came here for a quick stop after cycling, and we ordered cheesy chips, peri peri wings, and salt and pepper squid. The service was excellent, although it took around 15 minutes to arrive. The wings were a little dry, but all the other food was great! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to you want to have a light meal.

Staying at Old Windsor for a night and stumbled across this place. What a lovely surprise it was. The garden was amazing with a lovely atmosphere, food was great and couldn't ask for better service. We would definitely come back again.

The Fox & Castle has much to recommend it: a ‘proper’ pub look & atmosphere; welcoming, competent staff (who actually provide two things that seem to be a rarity nowadays: table service & smiles); a good range of beers (not to mention a large selection of spirits); tasty food, often with options beyond standard pub grub. The garden is lovely & very much dog-friendly, although hounds should beware the pub cat, who brooks no canine nonsense. I’ve never had a bad experience at the Fox & I am in there far too often. Special mention should go to barmaids Mark, Lucy & Charlotte, plus chefs Sarah & Simon, who all do their utmost to deliver quality service. The boss-lady, Kamila, runs a very tight ship, although could be mistaken for being a little stern at times. Couldn’t ask for a better local, although could perhaps wish for a cheaper one. Would probably recommend.

Service was slow and a bit disgounted and haphazard. Long wait before being served. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. Overall impression was they need help with the Cooking and services due to being very popular with the locals. Will go again.

Very nice old English pub with great food and excellent service. We often pop in for a casual beer and some times lunch/dinner. The food is always good with generous portions. Particular shout out to the friendly, helpful bar staff.

A short drive from Windsor and with some parking. Four of us called in on a Thursday evening. We sat inside, but the garden area was absolutely beautiful. Loads of space both inside and out. A gorgeous old building. The staff were very kind and welcoming. We all enjoyed our food. The service was very efficient and with a smile. The atmosphere was relaxed. It looked very pet friendly and also had a pretty resident cat called Foxy.

Oh dear went there with my friend that I haven't seen for years. He insisted on paying. I saw the lamb chops that were a bit pricy, however he told me to have what I liked. Not having lamb chops for quite a while, I really fancies them. What a disappointment, they were tough, I could hardly cut them. The veg didn't seem fresh at all and the dinner was swimming in gravy. It certainly wasn't worth the money. I couldn't eat it . I just picked at it and remained hungry. The waitress did come round and asked if everything was OK. I would have normally expressed my disappointment in a polite way. However it did answer by saying yes. The reason being I didn't want my friend I was with thinking I was a moaner - seeing as I hadn't seen him for years. A real disappointment and expensive for what it was.

Stopped in after a longish bike ride for Friday lunch and it was excellent, if a bit quiet. Come on, let's get back to Friday lunches at the pub !!

What a find, in the area visiting Windsor and decided to try and find somewhere to eat away from the hustle and bustle of Windsor. Found the Fox & Castle and thought we would try it out. Fantastic. Excellent garden and the food was great. Well worth the 10 minute drive to Okd Windsor

First of , what an amazing old country pub . First time visiting tonight and made my evening. Shared some pub snacks with friends sitting in the garden and really enjoyed it . Cant wait to come back for a roast dinner . And in the colder months to sit by the open fire . The staff are most welcoming and the pub is full of old traditions inside . The food has been very tasty every time I've been. Service is always friendly. I like the ambiance. Nice pub with outside seating in the really pleasant back garden area. I'd like it if you could book a table online. Currently only possible via phone. Parking is a bit tight when it's full.

Lovely old pub with a great garden, all four of us had different meals, Scampi, Koftas, Pie, Spicy chicken salad and I have to say all four were fab, and our friend said the pie was the best he had eaten so well done. Big thumbs up to our waitress, so sorry I didn't get your name, it was quite busy but she was calm, friendly and attentive. Thankyou all for a great lunch and hope to see you again soon.

Went for lunch here with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was just as good! Would definitely recommend going here.

My Granddaughter ended up with bad food poisoning from this pub from a kids Pasta Bolognaise meal on Saturday evening. (23/6/24) The food had obviously been reheated over the course of the day! Absolutely disgusting for a child’s meal. DO NOT EAT HERE

The Sunday Roast was generous and tasty and the Yorkshire pudding great. The Angus burger was juicy and full of flavour with lovely chunky chips. It was refreshing to find simple food cooked well. The staff were super attentive and food came out the kitchen speedily. It was a great Father's Day lunch. We'll be returning.

Loved it!! And the food was superb as was the staff. Lots of space in the garden and family friendly, the weather was not great but the gazebo made the difference. Cheers 🍻

What an amazing pub. Old inside and a lovely garden. Dog friendly which is great. The staff are brilliant, and the food is amazing. We ended up there 3 times over our weekend stay it was so good. Thank you to the staff because they really looked after us, we love this pub and can’t wait to visit again

Lovely old country pub, staff very friendly, food good, lovely beer garden for summer evenings.

Been here a few times over the past year. Nice old pub with an odd bar arrangement, you'll see what I mean! Friendly and efficient front of house staff... however the kitchen has gone down hill. 45 minute wait when not particularly busy and brought the wrong dishes. Lamb and beef Sunday roast, not hard! Yorkshire puddings slightly burnt, beef well done (over done) and so was the lamb beef!!! Gravy like water, cauliflower and sunderies al dente (raw) and very suspect "roast" potatoes, looked like they had been reheated, thick layer of hardened sogy exterior and cardboard interior, definitely not like an armadillo!

Very nice and quiet place. Friendly service. The food looks delicious. The first place where you can safely leave your bike in front of the entrance in a safe place. So it's a great place for cyclists on warm days.

Very disappointed. Charity quiz night - 8:00pm kick off. At least 60 people turned up for the quiz. At 9:30 last orders called - no movement on this. Crazy, bad business, upset so many local people who won’t come back, Including myself and my wife.

The lovely girl welcomed me whilst setting up the cutlery with a great smile. When looking at the menu I asked her for her recommendation and she mentioned the steak sandwich which was an absolute treat. Nice and tender with great additional sauce and watered down with a peroni shandy! Would come back just ti see that smile :-) and will be coming more often! Thank you guys! x

Sadly rather dismayed with the food. The ravioli promised so much and delivered bland, undercooked disappointment in my mouth. The portions are enormous, however, so if you're hungry and want to fill up, this pub will not let you down on that front. Will think twice about returning.

Very nice meal and great service.

Such an expensive pub since it’s been taken over. They have done the same with the other local the Alma in Windsor, , overpriced £35 for a bottle of cheap shop wine. You can get away with it at the Piper, as you attract tourists , but for old Windsor and all the locals. Food was rubbish £68 for 2 burgers and a couple pints. Not good!

Great pub on the outskirts of Windsor. Well worth a visit. Good selection of beers and wine at a decent price. Haven't eaten there yet but, from what I have seen, the food looked good! We intend to eat there soon!

We found a bar lady to be rude, therefore making the atmosphere not very welcoming. Also, I'm not sure about the cat being allowed to be on the bar, not only to sleep on but to walk along it and on top of the crisps. I am all for pub animals, but some people might have allergies to fur.

Being a group of 16,the overall opinion was a very enjoyable annual lunch,apart from the unavailability of lamb. The service was good but when knowing the size of our party one extra staff would have served quicker and kept the food hotter.

Booked an emailed for set Christmas lunch for 3 out of 4 guests. When we arrived we were told they didn’t see the email so wasn’t set up for Christmas lunch. We did get the turkey dinners but not a single Christmas cracker serviette party popper on the table. I asked why we weren’t given any as other tables were set up with them. Was told they had run out (it was 14 Dec!)but could probably find two crackers. Food was ok but just a roast dinner so found it not very good value for money at £30 for two courses l Lovely pub but probably won’t bother going back again

Best pub we've been to in years. If not ever. It has amazing atmosphere, great food, lots of vegetarian and vegan options, lovely staff, cozy fireplace, and even a pub cat! 🖤🐈‍⬛

This was a great find! Super dog friendly, including dog treats when we ordered our drinks and some sausage after we'd had our dinner! Not only that, but it's great for humans too! There is a lovely fire for cold days, but you'll need to book those spots. We went on a weekday afternoon but even so lots of tables were reserved. The service was lovely and personal too. We will definitely be back!

First time visiting this pub and we all loved it! The staff were lovely and really friendly. The garden is gorgeous - the lovely weather helped 🌞 and the food was superb. Very dog friendly too. Our little dog was given her own pot of biscuits and a bowl of drinking water. We will definitely go again and thoroughly recommend this pub

Exceptional pub. Came here after a long day at Legoland... staff were short but service was extremely friendly & personable. Food was excellent and good price. Garden area was perfect, especially with the nice weather. Really enjoyable experience.

I love this pub! The bar staff are lovely, the atmosphere is incredible. They always give the dog biscuits, so he drags me to the pub which is great 😂 The only reason it isn’t 5 stars, the menu is a little disappointing. If the menu was better I’d be here all the time. Only 9 main dishes, need some pub classics like Gammon steak or bangers and mash. Please don’t let that detract from the positives, it’s a great pub with a great garden, with great staff and a great atmosphere. If your looking for a drink I couldn’t recommend higher

700 year old pub in Old Windsor. They gladly welcomed us in and we sat outside in the amazing garden. Food and drinks were fantastic. Great pie of the day and a great kids menu. Thanks to the staff for wonderful evening!

Loved this place we went to last week, were going back this week for family birthday. Staff were very friendly. Attentive and nothing was a bother. Had a great band playing out in the garden, had a wonderful afternoon eating drinking and having a little sing song!! Definitely recommended, food was great too, just eish the band were there more often... my new favourite place to go...

This was our first visit to the fox and castle and we will definitely be back. Lovely cosy pub, staff very welcoming with lots of treats for our dog. Food was great, being vegetarian it was nice to have some different options, would 100% recommend.

Beautiful pub lovely atmosphere. Nicely decorated It makes such a pleasant change to go in to a pub and be served at your table rather than have to go to the bar to order food. We were served by Mark. Friendly and efficient service. The food was delicious, nicely served and very filling. There is a great selection of second hand books that can be bought for £1.50 donation go to a Swan charity. There is an amazing and very large beer garden Blankets that can be borrowed to keep you warm outside or heated huts. Fruit and veg is grown in the garden too. It was very impressive. Definitely worth a visit
