The Greene Oak in Windsor and Maidenhead

Roast dinner at 5pm on a sunday. Plates warm, food barely warm, potatoes horrible and tough. Expensive at between £21-£30 for a basic cold roast dinner. Service and atmosphere excellent. Shame the food was so poor.

The bar staff were very welcoming. Lovely outside space. The live singer (Ed Sheeran) was fabulous. The menu looked enticing, though we did not eat. Walking from the marina was quite hazardous due to there being no paths to walk on.

Really amazing Sunday lunch. Big portions, really well cooked, even with pigs in blankets! Staff were amazingly friendly as well and even insisted on us eating more roast potatoes! Definitely worth a visit!

We had our small wedding celebration here in the private hire space. It was so easy to work with Andrea via email on the plans. On the day we had the most amazing service from Cynthia and Ria, it made our day and they exceeded our expectations. It was service with a smile and it felt like they went above and beyond for us. We meet our daughter and her fiance here, and it was quite the quintessential Sunday lunch experience. Everyone ordered Sunday roast. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. Perfect! The meats were tender and juice, cooked perfectly. The sides were plentiful and delicious. It's one of those places exemplary of the British pub and worth going to.

Loved that it was quiet and we were able to have a chat. We were probably the loudest table as our children were exhausted from a trip in Legoland and were very fussy. (sorry other guests)… the food was delicious! The waitress was very friendly and talked to my children about Legoland which helped calm them a bit

A group of three of us meet here once a month or so and we always have a wonderful time, a delicious meal whilst being looked after by the fabulous Greene Oak team. The restaurant has a great atmosphere full of diners having a lovely time, there is no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon x

Entering the establishment I was greeted by a young,well spoken,member of staff.The food and drinks menu was to an ala cart standard,I ordered off the specials menu .The food was well presented,cooked to perfection.I highly recommend this establishment,which is animal,family and all age groups friendly.I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at the Oak .Im also looking forward to there Christmas menu .I believe it starts the beginning of December .Thankyou for making my dining experience,memorable.

Best food in Berkshire and beyond! Superb dinner menu. Beautifully cooked - great flavours and very reasonably priced for the quality. Delicious cod, very generous sized plaice , melt in the mouth venison and the roast chicken in butter beans was wonderful. Alex looked after us with charm and humour. Just go!

Lovely place, got to be the best pub in Windsor. The pub certainly serves the best pint of Guinness.

In area and looking for place to go, out of town with a nice garden and ended up here. Great garden with both open and covered areas, loved the private trailers. Great atmosphere inside and out (restaurant and bar). Inspired menu to cater for all tastes will look forward to trying although really pleased they were still serving Sunday lunch (5pm) and couldn’t resist. Between the three of us we covered pork, beef and nut roast, two of said best Sunday lunch out ever, the third said “one of the best” (the awkward one and not the vegetarian), beautiful veg and plenty of it. Have already recommended to friends and family in the area although already a roaring and deserved trade, brilliant staff friendly, attentive and present. Good selection of ales , well priced with no added extras ..

Great Sunday roast. The pork was succulent and the pigs in blankets were amazing Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The desert was a little disappointing as the custard was very thin. But all in all we really enjoyed and would definitely recommend

We had our Wedding reception here 3 years ago. We returned on our first anniversary out of nostalgia. However, we keep returning because it really is a great place to eat. The staff are friendly and attentive, striking the fine balance of knowing when to intervene and when to let the night flow. The food is excellent. We’ve tried well over twenty different plates here and each one is always cooked brilliantly and feature its own strengths that make it unique. A variety of nice wines and premium beers on tap, as well as decent cocktails (that aren’t luminous and taste like e-numbers) round everything off. We also get a complimentary desert when it comes to our special day. A nice touch! Pricing is mid-high, but in this case you will not get buyers regret. Couldn’t recommend more!

£134 for a two course Sunday lunch is expensive. Our bread plates were not cleared before our main course arrived. The food was very nice. They had not updated the wine menu so we couldn’t have the bottle ordered. They don’t serve floater coffees either. When we arrived at 12.45 the noise was ok but when we left at 2.30 the noise was too much and something I won’t rush back for. I have eaten in the evening and for a special occasion it is affordable but I can stay I’ll rush back.

Was recommended to eat at The Greene Oak by the manager at The Old Farmhouse where I was staying, just down the road. I was new to the area having travelled from the North on business. The food was way beyond expectation and definitely better than your average gastro pub. I had trout for main and the most delicious poached peaches for desert. Together with a double G&T and the 'optional' 12% service charge this came to £46. This was after a 10% discount was applied on the basis that I was staying at The Old Farmhouse. Not a bad price for the quality of food. I would highly recommend eating the Greene Oak. It is also great if (like me) you were on your own. There are lots of nooks and crannies where you can hide away. Service was friendly and efficient. It was a quiet evening.

Good hope food, bit pricey for the portion, £19:95 good Burfer, 13 chips! Served in a tin cup to look good, but no substance. Food in general - Hot and tasty. You lady serving bottled water, need to go on target practise as each glass was missed!! So in wrapping up Nice place, Tasty food, portions could be better, potatoes are expensive yes, but £20 burger isn’t!! Would I go again - Yes to Maybe… Maybe only due to pricing.. 6 Adults, Beer, 5 Cola, Still & Sparkling Water.. 12.5% added service charge.. I’m ok with but £22 on the bill feels tippy for the service we received

We haven't been to The Greene Oak for some time and were most pleasantly surprised. Definitely better than our last visit: the service was a little on the slow side - but we weren't in a hurry - and the exceptionally delicious food made up for the wait. The starters, main courses and desserts were all really delicious, very well presented and at a reasonable price. The wines were excellent and we were served by lovely staff. A lovely dining experience all round. Excellent stuff!

As always absolutely delicious. Food is cooked perfectly and plated up very appetisingly. I try and order food I haven’t tried before and there is nearly always a different dish for me to pick. Service is outstanding, staff very polite, attentive and can’t do enough for you. Thank you to all who made our lunch so very enjoyable. Thank you Chef.

Fantastic pub that consistently serves delicious food. Prices slightly higher than some other pubs in the local area but the standard of the food way far outweighs the extra cost. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely dinner, and were pleased to return for the second time as we were passing through Windsor. The food is outstanding (a true “gastro” pub), and we started with some fabulous fresh Jersey oysters (recommended!). Well worth a stop.

The Bank Holiday staff were lovely; they were there promptly to take your order, but didn't hassle you to finish quickly or leave! Food was delicious, obviously all freshly cooked and exactly what we ordered. Drinks came quickly too, with an immediate offer of water for the table, perfect!

Great service and excellent quality food. Limited menu on a Sunday night as they concentrate on their superb Roast dinners (which I had - Sirloin which you can ask for whatever colour you like - I prefer pink), husband had trout which he said was excellent. COD cheeks to start with which were the best I’ve ever had. Can’t fault the place and I would definitely recommend and will return.

I can't comment on the food as we only had drinks in the beer garden. They have a nice setup out back. The place is clean and friendly and the staff are attentive. It was very busy when we went which meant the car park was heaving, so I had to park on the road. We would certainly go again.

We were a party of 4. We are regulars. 3 of us were very satisfied and our 4th enjoyed our get together. However her sea trout was a bit undercooked with some liquid in the centre. Nevertheless she did eat it because she did not like overcooked fish. Unfortunately she subsequently had digestive problems.

The environment is beautiful, the parking is convenient, the food is OK, the price is a little expensive, but the atmosphere and decoration are very good.

We decided to treat ourselves to Brunch at the Green Oak to celebrate a special occasion. The food was exquisite, soft shell crab and pouched trot for both of us was cooked to perfection and the accompanying bean salad with mint was refreshing and perfectly matched. The garden is beautiful at this time of year and all diners settee in best of spirits so we made lots of new friends. The service as always was elegant and attentive and Molly kept our glasses filled and food coming with a smile. Rhian and James are always lovely. Best food best welcome. This is a private note. We always enjoy going to The Greene Oak, Windsor, and last Sunday was no exception. However, although my husband enjoyed his poached trout, I was very disappointed with my beef. I've had Sunday lunch there several times before, and I've always ordered beef rare to medium-rare. The quality of the beef was always much better on those other occasions. Last week, I had to ask my beef to be replaced as I'd been served beef that was clearly medium despite asking for rare. The replacement meat had some pink in it, but it was by no means what I normally receive when I ask for rare. I don't know if there's such a thing as processed beef, but that's what it tasted like. I had two perfect machine-cut slices, and I wondered if it had arrived in the restaurant pre-cut in packages. I'm passing on my impressions as we shall certainly come again - this has always been our favourite restaurant - but I'd hesitate to order roast beef again, which is a shame as Sunday lunch, with roast beef, is my favourite meal out. I should like to add that the staff were, as always, delightful.

We had our dinner on the nice terrace / biergarten. The staff is really sweet. The food was unfortunately average and they served a pork belly that should never have left the kitchen. A chef should know better.

Super place for a great meal. Delicious innovative menu, fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented. Six of us met for a celebration; a few of the highlights: fish and chips, fish cakes and belly of pork. Excellent service by friendly staff. It has a great outside space with an all weather tarpaulin for those chilly wet Summer days ! They also have a specials board, set menu and bottomless brunch.

Good, friendly service overall. We weren’t initially greeted upon arrival- at least 3 staff walked past us without acknowledging or signposting us. However once seated, attentiveness was great. Roast dinner meat portion was a tad on the small size (2 slices of beef) but very tasty, as were all the sides. Sticky toffee was delicious.
