The best restaurants serving British food in New Forest South East

Amazing refurb with excellent outdoor seating areas. Fabulous chef who makes the most delicious food (especially the beer battered fish and chips). Dog friendly eating area and lovely, clean toilets!

First visit to the Horse and Groom since moving from the New Forest 8 years ago. Very pleased to see the pub is thriving and is now a top destination in the Forest. Met some old friends for a very tasty lunch. Given the size of the pub the choice available for lunch was impressive. Both the clam and scotch egg starters were delicious as were the fish and chips and catch of the day main courses. The staff were friendly and engaging and the restaurant area had a pleasant feel. There is also a large 'back garden' if you just want to call in for a coffee and the separate public bar if you just want a beer. Great pub in a great spot.

Offbeat seriously make the best gluten free vegan Blondie really delicious .Also staff were amazing coping at a very difficult time always with the best service and lovely smiles . Always a great experience and can’t wait to go again .keep up the great work guys

Had a lovely dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We started with the fish platter to share which was really tasty and fresh. Then we had the fillet of brill and the venison. Both cooked really well and seasoned perfectly. Toni is a super friendly host.

Fish had tonnes of bones in it. I know to expect some, but every mouthful is a lot. Also tasted a bit odd... oil needed changing as everything had a strange smoky flavour. A shame as this used to be a family favourite

We stopped here for lunch yesterday after the place we were planning on going was closed. What a find! It doesn't look all that from the outside (it's part of an amazing garden centre) but the staff and food was amazing! We each had a light lunch and bought some cake to take away which was divine. We sat in the outside courtyard which was very quaint and had a little robin keeping us company whilst we ate! Would highly recommend.

My brother and my son were very impressed with this establishment, as was I. Friendly and helpful service, delicious food and a welcome atmosphere. I have already recommended them to more family members and friends. Parking outside was very much appreciated, as my brother needs a wheelchair.

There are many cafes from which to choose , however when we go elsewhere we are left disappointed by the quality of the coffee, but not here. Always a good strong and very tasty coffee, well presented by friendly staff.

I have just come back from having a Mothers Day 3 course lunch. It was amazing. The food was delicious and hot. The service was outstanding. I have been here several times before, but only for breakfast. But I will definitely be booking a lunch here again.

Arrived today at 07.30 and received a warm welcome from the owner Wendy! She also agave a warm welcome to our dog Belle! We were greeted by four of the locals who we know quite well and then we ordered tea cakes marmalade and toast plus two cappuccinos. This is a lovely friendly place and worth a visit. They've just decorated the inside too!

Fantastic pub!!! Our first time in this pub,the food was amazing,great garden, spot on service and the beer was lovely. Well done to everyone involved. How a British pub should be. Loved it.

Stayed in Sway for the weekend with friends. Had a lovely meal and the staff were really nice.

What a fantastic find this is! Really worth a visit. As soon as we walked in we were greeted like old friends.....my friend has been before and they remembered she had allergies. They really looked after us. The fish and chips were wonderful, with lovely meaty fish and the lightest of batter. Not greasy and hard. The tartare sauce was home made and so good I'd have eaten it on its own on toast. All the food we saw looked great and beautifully presented. I wished I'd had room for the amazing cakes too. Good value. Really looking forward to going there again

We had a fabulous breakfast enjoying the continental and hot food , the staff made us feel very welcome and took photos for us nothing was too much trouble . We will definitely stay here again , great hotel.
