Lovely meal but the young server with the long dark hair asked if we would like to see dessert menus. She went away and never came back. We waited 20 minutes then went to find someone to get our bill.

We booked for lunch today and parked in their spacious car park. Lunch was perfect in every way. We both had roasts. The beef was tender, very tasty and there was plenty. My wife had chicken and again beautifully cooked, generous and not at all dry. Lots of varied veg, free additional gravy. We shared a desert and enjoyed coffee, mints and petit macarons. The staff were attentive, friendly and service was second to none. Would we go back. Can’t wait. Well done the three lions, Stuckton.

We had a wonderful stay. Originally there was a mixed up with the room we thought had been booked for us, via hotels.com. We were contacted, by The Three Lion team, prior to our arrival to confirm a new room and a reduction in rate and offered a bottle of wine on arrival it with dinner. Velvet and the other staff members were so friendly, smiley, polite and attentive. Nothing was any bother and our stay was wonderful We look forward to coming back again soon. Thanks again for making our break away so enjoyable Alex and Dan

We went for coffees and were warmly welcomed by the bubbly Velvet who couldn’t do enough for us. We also had a nice chat with Dennis who told us about the special breakfasts they do. We sat on the beautiful patio overlooking fields and had a look at the rear garden outdoor bar area which was very clean and tastefully done with a covered TV and music area. Will be definitely going back there on a regular basis

I stayed here overnight on June 9th on my way from one place to another. I have a blue badge and so was looking for a room that was suitable for me to use. I also had my old dog with me so needed somewhere that could accommodate him too. I also needed somewhere at a reasonable price. I received a quick response to my query. The room was on the ground floor and had an excellent walk in shower, albeit with a lip, so that would not have been suitable for a wheelchair user. There was a free standing toilet frame which was ideal for me. The room was a good size, very clean and there was a very comfy bed. The whole place was geared up to accommodate a dog, with poo bins in the garden and car park and clean, full water bowls around the outside and indoor areas. One could take a dog into the bar area where the same food was available, as in the restaurant. Again every where was spotless, service was good and staff were very friendly and helpful. I am worried that by posting this review I may do myself out of availability when I want to stay again, but I needed to write this review as it is well deserved.

We walked across the “common” saw Donkeys, horses, deer & rabbits. - starters we had mushrooms on sourdough, pafait on sourdough then light bites Hallumi fries & squid rings - it was All beautiful - the staff were having a nightmare with chef issues but copped amazingly & we had a lovely evening. This is definitely the best we’ve been too in this area & would completely recommend it with the walk to see the wildlife

We came to the New Forest for a couple of nights R & R…booked a table in the afternoon for that night…arrived an hour earlier than table booked… had a couple of drinks…asked if our table was ready at the allotted time…was told ‘we are getting it ready’…..some time passed and we heard from some others guests that there was a problem with the gas..no-one said anything to us…my husband then went to the bar and they said there was a problem to which he politely asked if they were gonna leave us there all night without saying anything…minutes later another guest went past us and exclaimed ‘no need to shout at the staff’..this was a tad offensive as at no point was he rude or shouting….this could have all been avoided had the staff been upfront regarding the issues they were having….and at no point did we see a manager liaising with customers regarding the problems they were facing…shame on them for leaving 2 x bar staff to face the music....I work in hospitality and know that things go wrong from time to time but you need to be upfront and honest….sorry to say but we will not be returning…

Visited several times whilst on holiday for a drink or coffee and liked the place. Decided to try the food. Arrived to be told there was a problem with gas in the kitchen so there would be a delay. Food arrived half an hour later. What a disappointment. French fries which were white - not chips. Soggy batter on fish. Fish was laid on mushy peas which made it worse, it was a special at £25 for 2 to be fair but would not have liked to pay the full price for this meal. They did take 25% off the bill after a complaint. Have to say the service was good and hope it won’t deter us from trying again,

We couldn't recommend this place enough. Everything was perfect. Our room was spotless with everything we needed. The hot tub was lovely, well worth the extra. The enclosed terrace led directly onto the big garden so was ideal for our dog. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't do more to make our stay perfect. The food at dinner was delicious. The portions were very large so if you want a dessert, go easy on ordering sides! You won't beat the location if you are coming with a dog.

We stopped here for just a drink a couple of times as it was the nearest pub to our weekend accommodation. Service was with a smile & the food that we saw coming out to other customers looked so good that we booked for Sunday lunch on our last day. We don't like to eat too early so booked for 5pm & I was a little concerned that the Sunday roast would be a little past its best, as has happened to me before with other establishments. I needn't have been concerned! The roast beef was amazing & every aspect of our meal was outstanding. Service was great, staff friendly. I just wish I lived nearer so I could be a regular at the Three Lions!

We have been to the three lions a few times in the past. Each time the service level was very poor albeit the food was fine but not exceptional. But we were looking to try it again (being local). So went to check the menu for a Sunday family lunch (there would have been 8 of us). Could not believe that on the menu there is a cost (50p) for extra gravy. That tells me everything I want to know about this place. Who charges 50p if there wasn’t enough gravy in the first place for a £20 roast? It’s bonkers and suggests a grasping, greedy owner. So we will continue not to go to the three lions and choose other places that actually value our custom.

Our visit was completely ruined by the hotel manager and I ended up crying in the car park when we left! The worst experience I’ve had at a hotel or restaurant ever. When we checked in the receptionist told us the breakfast time and there was no mention of the cost. We thought breakfast was included, my brother made the booking so I didn’t have the record. At breakfast we were told it wasn’t included (fair enough if we hadn’t paid for it but I said I thought it was included and offered to go and get my phone to check.) the lady said she’d call the manager to check. We sat down and the lady told us breakfast was £10 but that she was waiting to hear back from the manager about whether it was included and she gave us some menus. We were going to pay anyway even if it wasn’t included but just wanted to check. The menu was a set menu with a main brek item, tea/coffee, fruit juice and 1 side. We all ordered the items included. When it came to paying I said to the lady that I’d pop back down and pay as I didn’t want to cause my Dad any stress. When I came back to pay, the lady said we hadn’t paid for the rooms! I showed her the payment on my phone and that issue was sorted but it was strange and a bit strange. She then said the breakfast was £52!!! Then the manager came in. I explained she said it was £10 each which would have been a total of £30. The manager then started getting angry saying our rooms were really good value and why did I ever think breakfast was included which was strange as I already understood we needed to pay for breakfast by this point. We then got into a back and forth argument about whether the lady had given us the menu with prices. The manager then showed us the menu with prices which we hadn’t seen & started saying we must have seen the menu with prices as my Dad had ordered a grapefruit juice (it’s just his favourite juice!) I then turned and asked the lady if she had told us the breakfast was £10, she said no. I asked her if she had given us the menu with prices and she said yes. I asked her twice and she lied repeatedly. It was a very strange situation. I actually started to feel a bit sorry for her as I think she must have been scared of loosing her job if she told the truth as the manager was very aggressive. He then said things like ‘You’re really enjoying this aren’t you!’ - I was not enjoying it at all!! He then started going on about the cost of the Frobisher juice and how could the breakfast have been £10 & talking again about how good value our rooms where and starting to rant, he was getting quite angry. But this wasn’t a question of value, it was a question of whether we knew the cost of the breakfast & we didn’t. In the end I paid the £52 as my Dad was waiting and I went into the car park and burst into tears! My Dad popped back to tell them that we didn’t have the menu with prices and that we had been told it was £10. So overall, a horrible experience!! & of course it wasn’t about the cost in the end, it was about not knowing the cost & then being asked to pay a different price to what we’d been told I was a liar.

All the staff are wonderful, however Velvet always brings my dog Elsa a treat, and will stop for a quick hello when she has the opportunity too, it's moments like this that keep regular customers coming in the door when times are quieter. We stayed at sandy balls holiday park just about 1.5 miles away from the 3 lions. We ate on site once and for 1 main meal each 1 desert and 2 drinks it was over £70 so on evening we decided to try the 3 lions and we wasn’t disappointed. All staff were really friendly and the restaurant it’s self was lovely. My wife and I both had 3 courses each with 2 drinks and it’s was only £8 more than the site we stayed on. We loved it so much we went back again for Sunday dinner and once again it didn’t disappoint. An amazing Sunday dinner which if all cooked to order so may take a little longer than normal but that’s expected so it’s not a problem when the food tastes that good. The lady that served us, unfortunately I didn’t get her name, was excellent and took time to chat to us and chat to my son about his holiday which is always good to see. It’s just such a shame we live at the other end of the country otherwise we would be here every weekend. Thanks so much for your amazingly good food and service. We will definitely return if we are ever in this region again.

We stayed here for 3 nights in one of the rooms with a hot tub. We had 3 dogs so we rang before booking to check if it was ok to bring all 3 of our Whippets. The response was lovely and friendly and welcoming. We used Tesco vouchers and booked through Hotels.com We were met upon arrival by Velvet, she was lovely and friendly and helped us by walking our dogs to the room. The room itself and courtyard were very nice, but in the flesh they were very much smaller than the photos appear on the website. Hot tub was nice and very clean. We had two breakfasts during our stay, a full English (Large) x 2 and Vegetarian breakfast. The full English was nice, but where I come from, one sausage, 1 mushroom, and a very mini dish of baked beans does not clarify as a Large Breakfast. The vegetarian breakfast was supposed to be served with fresh avocado but instead came with a tiny dish of processed guacamole. We only ate in the evening restaurant on the Sunday evening. I had the beef roast which was lovely. My wife had the oven baked hake which when it arrived, it had the smallest piece of fish we’ve ever been served up for a main meal in 34 years of marriage. It was literally at best a 2 inch square of fish. We immediately brought this to the attention of our waitress. She spoke to the chef and when she returned she told us that “chef” has told her to tell us, “that’s how it is… “ Whilst it was very nice, at £19.95 this was very poor value for money. When we paid our bill, the Gentleman serving us kindly refunded £4.95 for the side of cauliflower cheese we had paid extra for as he could clearly see that we were very disappointed with that particular meal. The Three Lions itself, is in a lovely setting with large gardens, and the New Forest and many of its walks are easily accessible by car or cycle from here. Overall we had a lovely short break here, and we found the staff really are friendly and helpful.

We were a big table sat in the conservatory, which was a lovely perfect area with music which added a real touch to the atmosphere. Outside area is lovely. Roast chicken and beef were delicious. The plain boiled veg in a side dish was a bit disappointing as it was dry and bland, but everything else was very tasty and delicious! Kids portions were generous and delicious. Desserts were delicious! We were so grateful to the staff, working a very hot bank holiday. They were so helpful and attentive and extremely polite. They had a good understanding of excellent service and sincerely apologising for things (it was busy) was really appreciated. The staff really made our visit and we’re keen to return.

Was really looking forward to this as we had preceded it with an 8km walk. We had checked reviews beforehand and they all sounded promising. We had booked for a table of 6 at 3pm on Sunday, thinking that it would have been quieter. We were sat at our table and after a while, finally got our drinks. Starters were good and presented well, but unfortunately the mains left a lot to be desired. Two of us had ordered the ploughmans priced at £19. This was definitely over priced - I would have expected home baked bread for this price but instead got sliced, some of which had been the end of the loaf, with crust 1/2 cut off. Another of our group had roast pork, to be told there was no crackling left or apple sauce, but only after the pork had been served up. The surroundings were lovely and staff super friendly and helpful, I just think that they had run out of food but should have been clear about this from the onset. One of our group over heard the chef saying there was no food left, as we were leaving. The staff did honour a 25% discount on the food for all the issues but overall it was a disappointing meal.

Enjoyed the previous owners excellent cookery so excited to try the new chef's offerings.Orderes a pint of bitter which arrived chillied and tasted watered down. Waitress happy to replace for an American IPA. I ordered scallops and ribeye steak. My wife chose the goats cheese mouse and chicken supreme. Scallops were ok but mouse was more cream than goats cheese. Why not just grill a decent piece of cheese? Chicken dish was ok. Steak was very tender and very fatty, about 25% fat infact. We quit there. Pub grub (burgers and fish and chips) looked ok so maybe this is just another pub grub venue in a pretty rural location.

We visited for Sunday lunch. The table was booked and we arrived on time. There were only two other tables in use at the time but nevertheless having ordered our starters we waited 50 minutes for them to arrive. At least we did not have to wait quite so long between courses. The main course was a disappointment. A charge was made for an extra yorkshire pudding but as the roast chicken is served without yorkshires it was a question of paying or going without. Many restaurants now provide yorkshire puds with all roasts. The vegetables, carrot and beans, were served raw and cold and didn’t appear to have even been blanched let alone parboiled or even cooked! The cauliflower cheese for which there was another extra charge of £4.95 for 2 was at least hot but from the outset we could see that grained mustard had been added and this was confirmed by the taste. We were surprised that no mention was made of this on the menu nor by the waiting staff. I was under the impression ingredients should now be made clear on menus or at least a disclaimer advising diners to enquire should they have any allergies. Maybe I’m wrong. This restaurant had a fantastic reputation under its previous owners and there is great potential for this legacy to continue but some problems do need to be ironed out.

We stayed here for two nights in a double room with hot tub, which we purchased through Travelzoo. We had breakfast included as well as £50 to spend on dinner. The room was really nice, nicely decorated and very spacious. I liked the little extras such as sweets left in our pillow and local New Forest toiletries which were lovely. The little garden was really cute and would be lovely to sit outside in summer. The hot tub was great - really nice size and we could turn the temperature down a bit so we could bring our 4 month old in with us. The restaurant was fantastic, although we already knew that as we’ve eaten here before. I can highly recommend the butchers platter and the ribs starter, both of which were very tasty. The cocktails are also very nice, especially the Sex on the Beach and the salted caramel martini. We had the chocolate brownie and sticky toffee pudding for dessert and they were both incredible. The staff are all fantastic too, very friendly and accommodating. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and will definitely return in the future.

We haven’t dined here for at least 10 years….. and remembered it for delicious food but very dated decor! Now it’s very good for both. We had the Valentines menu and shared the trout pate with pickled apple to start, along with the (outstanding) homemade bread rolls with truffle butter. The rolls didn’t need the delicious butter, they were that good. I had roast fillet of local venison with celeriac purée and other perfectly cooked veg. My husbands crab linguine with truffle fries were equally tasty. The rhubarb based pudding was beautifully presented and moreish. Reasonably priced for a very high standard of cuisine. ( comparable to Chewton Glen ) !!!!! The last time we had food like this was in France. Very good, can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I stayed at the Red Lion for his birthday weekend. Fantastic room with beautiful views and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in and free use of the hot tub. The restaurant was fantastic, not cheap but worth every penny. The menu is on a caulk board so changed after each service. Would love to visit again.

Booked into one of the rooms through an on-line site, including dinner & breakfast. Arrived at opening time & arranged for dinner at 7.30. Went for a drink at the bar at 7.00 to find this place only serves bottled beer with nothing on draft & that I was the only customer. Ordered food was shown to the dining room and served inside 15 mins.Returned to my room at 8.15 at which point the place closed up, lights went off, doors were locked and the staff left.Breakfast was also a solo affair but my hostess was charming and engaging. Will definitely be returning hopefully when the places is a bit more lively.

A lovely restaurant with rooms. We booked blind as we don't know the area (my wife always checks out places on here) and we weren't disappointed! They weren't overly busy, but it is in the middle of no where! Most of the diners were either residents or locals. The welcome was friendly and warm, the bar was very well stocked, the menu was very well balanced and the food was excellent. ( not a chilli/curried item in sight!). I would return for the potato dish alone! Not Michelin star but very good quality food with attentive and knowledgeable service. All in all a good night out!

The most tasty, succulent lamb with added ‘crispy bits’ which was an excellent addition. Proper faggots for starter and the most sublime chocolate pudding was the finale to an exquisite meal. Cannot wait to return to once again sample the best food in the area.

I first visited this charming restaurant some eight years ago and again about two years later so when I was thinking of a place for lunch to celebrate my son's graduation, it came to mind. I rather assumed that, as in most cases, the ownership or chef would probably have changed in the interim, however, the comments here on TA looked promising so I decided to make the journey from Poole and to my amazement, everything was still the same, most importantly the FANTASTIC cooking and warm, personable welcome! I have no hesitation in recommending this delightful venue to celebrate your special meal without 'breaking the bank'! I feel confident in saying, they won't let you down.

We stayed here last Saturday. We arrived after the lunch service had finished, but Jane and her husband managed to rustle up a cheese and tomato sandwich for me and a cheese, ham and homemade chutney for my husband. Best sandwiches ever. Out room was very spacious and very clean. The bed was huge and comfortable. The breakfast was awesome. Loved the crunchy home baked toast. Jane was very friendly and welcoming and I would recommend The Three Loins to anyone.

Wow! never been here before but we were treated like royalty, sit down in a little area for drinks, olives and nuts whilst choosing what to eat. The food and service was excellent. I had sea bass and my friend friend had fillet steak. It is pricey but well worth it. The only disappointment fir me was they didn't have lobster which was advertised on their website but I believe you have to order this in advance which is fair enough. Absolutely lovely setting and atmosphere.

The food here is great - perfectly cooked, nice selection and nothing other than excellent in taste, presentation and served with a warmth of welcome, good service and a relaxing evening. Run by a couple who have been here many years, the quality is on a par with the best in the region. Next to Limewood or similar, it is a place that will appeal to couples and families from London used to paying for the excellence of cooking you'll find here. So why only 4 stars? It hasn't stayed up with the times and could benefit from a makeover. We were there on a Saturday evening yet just 4 couples in the restaurant despite the great reviews and comments. We think that may be down to the dated interior and general atmosphere which is more 1980's than 2018. It should not put you off coming here. The food is so worth it. Just a shame that with such talent certain elements take the shine off the skills and panache with which the chef serves the food. Would we go back? Yes but we would currently put other places a step ahead if only for their atmosphere and modern setting as against the lack of progress in the setting here. Yes, it is about the food but with a few steps this place could be the place to go to in the region. One thing to note, there was a family there when we ate, with their young daughter having a lovely time - nice to see.

We were overnight guests, staying in the converted outhouses with our dog, and the accommodation was spacious, immaculately clean and the garden views were lovely. If you are looking for tasty, well presented,. hearty food with a few tasty twists, you won't go wrong booking to eat here. It was an extra surprise to find Michelin dining on the premises. Jayne was a superb host, and the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the porc with all the trimmings, the homemade sorbets; each scoop was vibrant , the best sorbet I've tasted. The continental breakfast had the x factor, with passionfruit adding depth to the fruit salad, and we were served yummy homemade bread I can't wait to have again.

You simply cant beat the quality of food on offer at the Three Lions in Stuckton. The decor is becoming a little dated but the food and wine selection more than make up for this offering some of the finest produce from throughout the whole of the New Forest. If you are on the western side of the Forest you just have to eat here.

Oh dear - firstly the decor is alarming so outdated and cringeworthy it was like sitting in a dining room back in the very early 1980’s in need of a coat of paint and general big update - everything is Peach, glossy stained pine tables chairs and horrendous chintz dated pelmets/curtains big patterned carpet - just horrendous - the alarm bells sounded & wish I had not ignored them.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to praise offbeet for never failing to deliver excellence. The restaurant was sadly closed by the government during the first wave of the pandemic and the team have bounced back during such a difficult time and adapted to meet with the ever changing government guidelines. They have created the new Offbeet deli open on weekends and I have to say, visiting on a Saturday for a doughnut and coffee is truly the highlight of my week. The team are always so welcoming and friendly and go out their way to assist and answer any questions that I might have. I would recommend to anyone! :)

No starters. Enjoyed the Cornish hake with spinach, mashed potatoes and asparagus and Mrs enjoyed the fish cakes. Smaller portions than expected but this meant we both had plenty of room for dessert and can report that the spiced rum and chilli soaked pineapple with mango pieces and coconut yoghurt was gorgeous. Draught Doom bar was disappointingly gassy, like lager, but overall experience was enjoyable. Beautiful views of coast, sea and IOW and gents toilet interestingly housed various signed football shirts. Dog friendly with separate section for well-behaved dogs. Rules for dogs are on the entrance hall wall!

This review is based on my experience on the day and could be different for you, but I doubt it. Superb service from this F&C take away and excellent food to boot to. Called ahead and asked if they cooked Gluten Free on a Saturday - was advised it was cooked Tuesday to Saturday- as one member of our party had an eating disorder. Complied our order and called back a 2nd time and placed the order and was told it would be made immediately. Drove there and collected it after paying. Superb service. FYI- they do not deliver so collection is the only option. F&C was excellent and tasty all found, no complaints and empty plates as was the add on food expected within a fish and chip shop that we purchased. Have to say the Saveloys were superb and very tasty. So to summarise, superb helpful staff, fantastic food, good for people with food allergies, all sorted very quickly Try it you will be back Trudy me on this.

I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in and eaten in so many. The restaurant has a lovely, relaxed but special vibe. The staff are exceptional. The food was out of this world!!! Incredible ingredients, flavours and beautifully presented. We chose a red, an expensive red, but instead of taking our order, we were told it’s tanning and mix might not go with our dish. We were instead recommended a different wine that was so yummy we ordered a second. Super impressed. This is a destination restaurant and we’ll be back again and again

As usual we had a very enjoyable lunch here today. Despite having two vegetarians and one gluten free out of the five of us, nothing was too much trouble. We all had different very tasty roasts. Followed by some good desserts, the toffee roulade was great. The Ship’s Sunday roast is definitely the best around here.
