Supposedly, a birthday treat for my wife. No such luck. The greasiest and most undercooked chips I have ever had over my many decades of chippies throughout the British Isles. None were remotely crispy. I couldn't eat them, but my wife was quite hungry, though not impressed. The onion rings were so greasy, we had to place them onto kitchen towel and attempt to pat them dry, to no avail. The mushy peas were average, at best. The battered cod and haddock were definately on the small side and the batter VERY soggy, which is a shame as the crispy parts (about 40%) were good. All this on a Friday night, and cooked to order too :(

We stopped for lunch during a busy summer weekday and had a pleasant lunch and which provided good value for money. Despite being busy the service was efficient and we didn't face too long a wait for our food. There is a good range of food options on the menu with an option to add extras onto some dishes and a good selection of deserts available.

After passing this place numerous times over the years, I had the opportunity to visit today, I had a milkshake and pancakes with peanut butter and banana, absolutely delicious, I was the only diner and unfortunately today was their last day of trading, I'm so glad I finally got a visit in, such a shame it's closing tbh, very good food/service at a reasonable price

God awful pond Water they claim to be coffee. Cream to the drink was vile and I asked for no cream. In the end the coffee was so dreadful I didn't drink it. There 2 choices for sandwiches and it was only 1pm. Cakes hardly any there. I would not recommend costa to anyone in Lyndhurst.

Truly awful - and no suitable toilets. The food we were served was below average, the coffees were unfortunately not good at all. The service from the woman running the cafe was disgraceful. She seemed off from the outset, and was downright rude in the end after one of our group was reduced to tears by her behaviour. Most importantly the toilet was not suitable for visitors to use, you have to squeeze through the kitchen which is open to the seating area to get to the toilet, which is extremely close to where food is being prepared and completely inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. The toilet door did not shut, so the woman who runs the cafe had to slam shut another door in order for there to be any privacy (and any level of hygiene), which then resulted in one of our party being trapped inside the toilet unable to get out. When another member of our party was eventually able to force the door open from the outside and the person who was trapped was understandably shaken at the experience, the women running the cafe had the nerve to tell her to calm down, and then denied having said anything at all. All in all it was a horrendous experience, no redeeming features - this unfortunate situation could have been helped with a kind manner but instead was made much worse. Avoid. We will be making a formal complaint to the food standards agency. A bizarre and upsetting experience!
