Great pub, great atmosphere , great staff and great Beer , they also have some very good live bands . Not eaten in here so can't comment.

The welly is a proper traditional pub, with a great selection of ales, and I'm glad it hasn't changed much over time.

Great place for real ale pity they don't have the amount of choice they used to have when Bob run it.

They advertised toast dinners available 12-9 Friday Saturday Sunday. Arrived few minutes before 12 yorkshire pudding and potatoes will be at least 20 mins before ready. Bought a drink n waited. Ordered lamb. When it finally arrived 10 to 1 had to wait for cutlery. Had to ask for salt n pepper n mint sauce .plates cold n food not very hot best on plate was potatoes n stuffing still no yorkshire pud tho. Gravy very thin WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE !!!!

Went as they are advertising for staff and had good reviews.. Female bar staff didn't say hello, ask if i wanted food, engage in any conversation even though it was my first visit, nor check if i wanted another drink...as i left there was no acknowledgement... Times are hard... good customer service goes a long way... Out of curiosity i will pop in for a roast which is highly rated...perhaps a better experience? Beer was cheap.. 4.25 for Morretti... Food i saw come from the kitchen looked hot and hearty. One other point.. a few older folk in.. was cold... no heating? A few points to address perhaps

Nice little pub with very friendly staff as well as other customers who just say hello which makes you feel welcome. Roast dinner was delicious but my eyes were bigger then my belly. Will definitely come back again.

My lovely local. Two bars with rentable back room. Garden with smoking area. Many items of decoration as talking points. Roaring open fire (sometimes). Friendly, intelligent staff serving food inside or carry out beer and cider if required.

Real ales and great Sunday roasts. Enough tables to always get a seat (so far). Friendly service.

Always great service, times are hard at the moment so still good. I shall be back after this idiocy.

Ahhh...well what can I say about this here Legend of a Shirley Drinking Mans (& Ladies) establishment!! For a start the bar has been there for years!!! (If u wanna redo it I'll empty out my jar! Work a deal out 😉) Covered in Copper Coins so strictly no scrap metal merchants making a bid before I've worked out my deal...thankyou...anyway I digress, it's a wonderful watering hole with a diverse and interesting bunch of reprobates, of which I add... no end of interesting conversation with the locals will leave you supping more ales and wasting away an hour or 4! Great Staff, Great Establishment, Great Beer (so I hear), Great entertainment and well....Just Great! What I would call..... a Happy place!

Friendly old-fashioned local pub. Good choice of well-kept and varied beers. Pleasant and friendly service. Excellent selection of music played loud enough to hear what's playing but quiet enough not to interfere with conversation at all. There's room in the back bar to sit fifteen people for a group chat or you can sit in the front bar in an alcove made for two. Your choice. It's good enough that I walk past six other places I could drink on my way to this one - it's my pub of choice.

Used to be my favourite Southampton pub. its still ok with friendly staff and does have live music in the small lounge. The Welly has lost much of its charm and looks a bit run down inside

No TVs constantly on. Good selection of beers. Sheltered outdoor patio in back.

The Wellington Arms is still one of the best pubs in Southampton. It is an architectural gem, and it always has interesting beers, and punters, and lovely staff. I live a 10min walk away, yay!!

Wonderful environment and atmosphere , good selection of commercial and craft beers. Food is always top notch and staff are always friendly and on the ball. Can’t go wrong stopping here for a drink or a bite!!

Nice pub for Beers, nice atmosphere and traditional pub design. Roast dinners not so good though, small portion and rather over salted. Excessive gravy did not makeup for lack of spread and not an inexpensive price.

Had a lovely evening in this friendly local pub with good conversation and service from the barmaid “Demi”, if you’re looking for a fun and lively pub I could not suggest better than this pub and it’s evening staff! Demi is a real ray of sunshine who can brighten anyone’s day!

Under new management. They have a card machine! They have all my favourite beers too. They have a darts board. They have really comfortable bar seats. They serve food! What a fantastic change. This might be one of the best pubs in Southampton now. Update: this IS one of the best pubs in Southampton, possibly the best?
