Excellent service & great food. The food was amazing, well timed and presented beautifully. The staff were attentive but not over bearing. Overall a fantastic experience & I would recommend.

Sadly the afternoon tea wasn’t as we’d hoped. On arrival we were offered various areas we could sit which was really nice but then the service was lacking. Our order was wrong, the cakes were unremarkable and very dry and bland. It was such a shame as it was a special occasion. The waitress’s stood chatting behind the bar … they didn’t know what the cakes were, it was all rather underwhelming. Certainly not value for money. With so much competition in the area I think a hotel could make more effort.

Great hotel, great restaurant can't recommend it enough. Would certainly go back and recommend to friends and family. Stayed two nights had a 3 course dinner 1st night which was faultless. Breakfasts excellent as are the staff

Staued two nights at this charming hotel, had dinner on first night. Staff were very accommodating, friendly, professional. Menu varied, good wine list and excellent service given.

Visited on a hot day in August. The room was comfortable, modern, clean and nicely cooled by aircon! I had both an evening meal and a breakfast at the hotel and both were great, especially the evening meal. Sitting with a glass of wine in the library reading before eating was a lovely touch too.

Stayed for one night as part of our weekend road trip around the new forest. This hotel was perfect for what we wanted. Nice décor, rooms were clean and well presented, staff were friendly, the price we paid made it great value for money and the breakfast was well above the standard you get from a typical hotel offering. The location, really makes it. Its a great little town/village with lots of options for food and drinks.

Pretty good pub hotel in Lyndhurst town centre, probably the best of the bunch directly in town. Room was great, on the back of the hotel. Ancient lift was fun. Breakfast was good and no shortage of it. Dinner was good although the dining room a little soulless perhaps.

Small bath and very thin walls, so you could hear neighbours. Nice room and really comfy bed apart from that. The food and service during the day and evening was superb. The breakfast was buffet style and we had remind waitress 3 x for our coffee on first morning. The other mornings were fine but food not that fresh/hot. This was a little disappointing for price of stay.

I ordered fish and chips. The fish was overcooked and the chips were undercooked. However the serving staff were very pleasant and very attentive.

The staff were friendly, however, the restaurant itself was overall disappointing. With a limited menu and flavourless food at a premium price I really would recommend eating elsewhere. I had my worst burger here I've ever eaten, dry, flavourless, chewy and burnt. You get six large chips with the burger and fish and chips for what is a very high price. Not good value and just not great quality. They need to expand the menu and get a new chef who knows how to season food.

The quality of the food was excellent. The service from the staff was faultless even when they were extremely busy. An excellent choice of food and drinks.

We have no complaints about the actual hotel & staff during our stay but we were extremely disappointed with our meal in the Bar & Grill. It was both small & expensive, not good value at all. Two small crepes on a plate do not a Mains make! We are not complainers so this is unusual for us (check out my review for the previous evening). We spoke to the waitress who relayed our concerns to the chef. We were brought the bill for £21 with two amounts taken off £35 & £7. When we questioned this, a new bill was brought out for £63! We were advised to speak to Reception in the morning, which we did. We then handed in a review form from our room stating all that had happened. He promised to pass it to Management. We had NO contact from anyone for 10 days - I sent 3 emails in this time. This is extremely disappointing & poor Customer Service. Finally they thanked us for our feedback!!!

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the service and the food. Staff did not acknowledge our arrival. Appreciating they were busy at least some eye contact and acknowledgement after 3-4 minutes would have been nice. One meal was burnt with over cooked vegetables. When this was raised the Staff member looked stunned and walked away from the table. We did not receive an apology although they did take £10 off the bill. We expected much more from a hotel of this calibre

Pure, unadulterated luxury. Everything is perfect. It's the attention to detail that separates this lovely hotel to some of the other places I've ever stayed in. When my missus had suggested the New Forest I had visions of a tent. Ha!

Really nice hotel for the price. But not for the food. If you're thinking about eating there, don't. I've never seen impossible prices for such terrible food. Dinner in the evening was just boring. Didn't taste like anything. The “steak” tasted like an overcooked schnitzel and the lamb wasn’t seasoned at all. The meat was way too dry and impossible to cut. Maybe it was simply the selection of the 6 dishes (with starter) but none of them tasted like anything. 👎 Outrageous to charge so much money for such bad food. Nice location but I would rather spend my money somewhere else. ;)

A lovely hotel … been staying here since 1998 & seen it through a number of different owners. Highly recommend a stay here. Hotel check-in & out is smooth and again, the staff are friendly and very helpful. There is a small lift available. The carpark to the rear is a little tight to get in but I’ve never had an issue getting a space either.

We stayed here for our 25th anniversary mini-break in the new forest. It's five stars from us as the hotel, bar, restaurant and service met al our expectations. It's a quaint hotel in a super location for exploring the new forest, with lots of options for pubs and restaurants in walking distance.

Lovely romantic hotel in the middle of Lyndhurst. The rooms are comfortablly equipped but the bed was a bit smaller. The location of the hotel is very central, which unfortunately also brings some traffic which is going right under the windows of the hotel. The breakfast is good - and there is a very nice coffee roaster nearby if you prefer excellent coffee. The restaurant serves excellent food in the evening.

This was a belated Mother's Day lunch and delightful as my son and I were the only occupants of the main dining room midweek. It took about 20 minutes from ordering to our 2 beefburgers arriving at the table, well cooked and tasty. Neither my son or I wanted a huge meal, but we couldn't finish the very chunky chips that were part of the order. However, my son managed to squeeze in a cheesecake for dessert and I had ice cream. The 2 waitresses were attentive and helpful and it was a lovely opportunity to catch up with my son. I haven't eaten here since 1991, when I was pregnant with his sister, I won't leave it another 33 years!

A nice hotel in the centre of Lyndhurst. The room was cosy but very hot. Unfortunately, the rooms at the front of the hotel get a lot of traffic noise. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, continental and cooked, which is basically help yourself to whatever you want. The staff are very friendly.

The afternoon tea was fabulous on mother's day. The scones as the other reviewsnoted were so light. The service was good.

We stayed for the weekend and had a great time. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and the staff are attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent with a great choice of seasonal veg fish dishes. Have recommended to friends!

This was our second visit to the Hotel. We had a snug double which was fine for our 2 night stay. Room and bathroom were clean and well looked after. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is very good with a large selection and the cooked breakfast was always hot. Make sure you book direct with the hotel for the best price.

Great afternoon tea, great service and great atmosphere - best scones we had so far in the New Forest and Southampton, the cream and jam were fantastic as well.

My husband went for dinner and also to check the hotel out for our daughter’s future wedding. However, we will not be returning again. I will probably get a reply to this review from the manager stating that my food was fresh that day but I can assure you that it definitely was not fresh because the feta cheese in the quinoa absolutely stank and was rancid. It smelled so foul that it almost made me sick. I ate my fish which was ‘acceptable’ but dry and pushed the quinoa & cheese aside. When I complained to the waitress her reply was”the chef said the cheese was fresh in this morning” and that was it, no apology, nothing. I then asked to see the manager and all he could offer was a mere 10% off the menu. I have only ever complained once before in a restaurant and straight away the manager offered to replace the food (which I accepted) or, refunded them price of the said meal. My husband’s dinner was a joke with extremely overcooked beef short ribs and a pathetic portion of tiny chopped up veg which looked like the type of frozen chopped veg that you buy from any high street supermarket. In my opinion, I find it hard to believe all the positive views on Tripadvisor are from genuine customers. We went across the road to ‘Renoufs’ and met a couple who were staying at The Crown & Manor House Hotel who told us that they had the exact same complaint about the food and ate out elsewhere for the past 3 nights of their trip. If the restaurant food and staff are as good as the reviews portray, why was there such a lack of customers on a Saturday night? I advise you to click on the negative reviews on Tripadvisor regarding the horrendous state of the rooms which tell a lot about this hotel. Avoid if you don’t want to waste your money on horrible overcooked, dried out and rank food!

The food was very delicious for breakfast and dinner and they catered for my gluten free diet. We will definitely return when the weather is warmer. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as they cater for all.

We always enjoy going to The Crown for dinner and on this occasion it was a Saturday night. I had the steak and my partner ordered the beef hamburger. Both our meals were excellent, the service was prompt & professional. We ended with Irish coffees to complete a perfect dinner.

I spent the afternoon with two friends celebrating our summer birthdays with an afternoon tea. The setting was perfect and relaxing, the staff were friendly and polite, nothing too much trouble. They offered more tea half way through the service. The afternoon tea was perfect size, the sandwiches were lovely though would have liked something a little more special than egg (it was nice). The scones were very light and the smaller cakes very tasty, the addition of the fruit sweet in a small glass was perfect. We will be returning again.

Enjoyed a fantastic cream tea with some fizz here with my wife. Beautiful location. Even me with a big appetite could only just finish the spread of fresh sandwiches, scones and other sweet treats. Service was really good and friendly, managed to park just fine in the hotels own car park. Then a walk around Lyndhurst afterwords made us a perfect afternoon
