The White Hart - Cadnam in New Forest

Now this is a place you go to impress relatives and friends alike, the food was well presented, flavoursome, creative and pretty much on point, the mushroom soup was to die for, and service was good.

Long time since we had been for lunch and it didn't disappoint. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food. Highly recommended

We went on Easter Sunday so probably more expensive than day, we all had roast dinners and the food was out of this world delicious and the pudding were very nice aswel. Plenty of parking, lovely outside area where the kids could play in-between waiting for their food . All round lovely pub

Visited on the way to Lyndhurst from Brighton for a quick drink after a longer than your average drive. A pleasant pub, well-managed, with polite staff. However, there was some construction work taking place at the time. I noticed what appeared to be a surveyor measuring the interiors of the entrance area and the first-floor walkway to the lavatories. Due to this distraction, I can't give it a full 5 stars for atmosphere. It may seem a bit trivial, even to myself as I write this, but I can only base my review on what I observed. I would consider returning to dine here in the future.

Food and Service good, but they had a problem with their heating so it wasn't very warm there

Lovely food, every meal I've had has been amazing. Lost a star because last time I had to send my meal back because it wasn't hot enough (prawns so I wasn't taking any chances) but the staff were very apologetic and it was quickly rectified without a fuss. Staff are always friendly and helpful, if I'm being super picky then the service can be a little slow during busy times but that's to be expected, it's not frustratingly so and the food always looks freshly made when it does arrive.

Just dropped on for a light lunch, was very welcoming and a proper old fashioned pub. Food was absolutely excellent cannot fault it, will be going back for sure thank you.

I just had one of the best pub meals I've ever had! 3 courses of delicious food, clearly prepared with care and served with a pleasant smile. The menu reveals a broad range of well-balanced meals, including some clever combinations of ingredients. I'm not easily impressed, so well done to the team at The White Hart.

We only dropped in for a quick pint but could have stayed for a lot longer Just what you want in somewhere like the new forest The staff were brilliant we just had chips but the atmosphere in the pub was brilliant

We had a party of 13. Pre ordered food. Everything was fantastic. Staff were lovely, polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Service was prompt and the food was enjoyable if a bit on the expensive side. The one negative for me was being served by someone with inappropriately long false nails for someone working in the hospitality industry. It can’t be compliant with hygiene rules. Not sure I’d return.

Delicious food, excellent and friendly service with a welcoming atmosphere.

Food and service was great, my only negative was the cost of a large soda water with fresh lime. I don't expect it to be free but the same price as soft drinks that use syrup seems a little excessive.

Stopped here for a snack on our way to the New Forrest, a nice welcome as we walked in and we were shown to a table and asked if we would like drinks. A nice bootle of LA Ghost Ship and a cider. We both chose the prawn open sandwich and we shared a bowl of chunky chips. The food and service could not be faulted, the prices are reasonable (they have to make a living) but it’s not cheap. There is a gratuity but on these prices it works out at a couple of quid, I’m sure the service and presentation are worth that! At least it’s not the US! A nice atmosphere and comfortable setting, plenty of parking on both sides of the pub.

We arrived on time for our booking. However, it took at least 3/4 of an hour for our food to arrive. We had mains and deserts all of which were very good. There were other negatives. Not happy that we were charged 12 and a half percent service charge considering we waited so long. Also, we felt uncomfortable with the person serving us who had long pointed dark painted finger nails that looked liked tallons.

Friendly staff and good food. The portions were large, so we shared a main and a light bite between the two of us. Not cheap, but for what you get worth the money.

Well, what is there to say except go there? We really have a great time with great people, great food. !!! And really be looked after. Don't waste any time. Go now and have a lovely meal 😋

Very enjoyable, bit pricey but could not fault a thing. Service and staff so experienced and friendly you want to return. Food was simply delicious ,well served, cooked freshly and a real treat.

Met friends for lunch. Convenient location near A27. Good parking. Dog friendly. Excellent staff and service, Great food; fish and chips, quiche with mini puddings and coffee plus dog treats. Draught non-alcohol beer was very good. Great atmosphere. Also given food tokens for a return visit. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely country-style place. Didn't gave a table when we arrived but luckily one came up. Nice roast. We had small pudding with coffee and UT was what it said, small but by then we were so full. Reasonable too, landlady bought up a reond of drinks for 35th Aniversary. Nice twist. Would definitely go back.

Me and my partner visited the pub today. Food was decent. Worth its money that’s for sure. No one really came and checked on the food. I would have had a few more drinks if our waitress came and asked if we needed anything else. When it came to the bill. I there was a 10 pound service charge and I asked to remove it and the waitress was abrupt and rude and walked away before I could explain why we wanted to take it off.

The restaurant is pleasant, staff extremely friendly and efficient and food is excellent. I have been to this restaurant and bar several times and have never been disappointed. My friends confirm my view and all have had happy meals at the White Hart.

We visited today for a New Year's Day lunch. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely friendly member of staff who showed us to our table and bought the menus'. We had booked a table for 5 but only 3 of us were able to attend. This was no issue at all for the venue and they accommodated this very happily. The menu choice was varied and plenty to tempt my vegetarian son. I also notice that Gluten Free features highly which is fantastic for any celiac customer's . I chose the black garlic and pepper belly pork, which was absolutely delicious and melted in the mouth. We loved the option of a miniature dessert with coffee and again, there were various options to choose from. I would highly recommend The White Hart for a tasty, quality meal.

Very nice welcome in from the friendly bar staff. A lovely meal for the 4 of us and no problem with having 2 dogs. I had a very tasty pork belly and a really refreshing pint of asahi lager. A great spot to retreat to after a rainy day walk in the forest.

Update December 23: Dropped in for lunch meeting friends and it was very busy so we booked for an hour later which was fine as we went for a walk over Cadnam common. Food was great and from a varied selection including some good veggie options. I had the venison pie which had plenty of meat in a just crisped suet pastry with veg and gravy. Desert was a chocolate brownie which was warm, soft and lush. Old fashioned pub which is deceptively large. Also good sized and very pretty garden. Good location for a walk around Cadnam common to see the ponies, cattle and pigs that wander freely. There’s a large daily menu made with fresh ingredients including a couple of veggie options. We had haddock fish cakes with asparagus, mushroom pie and steak pie which were all rated good. I was a little disappointed by the tofu pad Thai which was nice but not what I recalled as pad Thai. Overall a good place to meet friends and a selection of local beers.

Fabulous food. We stopped in by chance.. and what an absolutely stunning place to eat. Our waitress was fabulous, kids food great and the lamb/chilli beef salad was incredible. Will be our default pub if in the area… great place to eat!!

Went for a traditional Christmas dinner. Food was good apart from the roast potatoes, which were very hard and very difficult to cut. Seemed like they had been made for ages ! So a little disappointed, the rest of the dinner was good. The starter of Camembert was lovely. The really disappointing thing is that they automatically charge 12 & 1/2% service charge. Which is quite steep. That is such a shame, and will probably put us of going again. We like to tip as we see fit. So a shame.!

Fantastic food! my partner had the braised lamb, which fell off the bone and was very tasty. I had the most amazing cod and chips with batter that was so crispy and fresh. The only downside was the wait, although all the staff were great especially Lucy and Amy who updated us.

Good solid venue, been a couple of times, prefer summer menu, could do with a few more options on the menu. Always glad when I've been there.

The pub has a lovely atmosphere and a very nice country-style decor etc. The staff are lovely. The menu has an excellent and varied choice if expensive. Our food was good in parts, particularly the chowder, but the turkey Christmas meal was not. It was not freshly cooked meat, awful warmed up roast potatoes which had that 'taste' and not the expected Christmas veg and fare. At a whopping £21.95, it was very poor indeed and more like a supermarket ready meal.

Lovely place. Staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of seating inside. Children's playarea. Plenty of parking. Reasonably priced. We didn't eat but food looked really good and smelt nice. Last Sunday of every month they do a walk for Dementia. Dog friendly. I would recommend booking as was really busy. Definitely go again. This is situated in Cadnam between Bartley, Romsey, Copythorne. Lovely beautiful area..

Waited 20 minutes to have a drinks order taken once seated. Food was OK a little under whelming for the price.

Had a lovely evening to celebrate a 70th birthday. The staff were lovely, humorous and very efficient. Everyone enjoyed their starters and their main courses with clean plates all round. Great choice of different meals for everyone. We didn't have any dessert as the cake was brought out. There's a good range of beers and a really good wine list. A lovely evening, thank you

Visited with family on a last minute decision to eat out, lovely pub, very cosy and the food was delicious (although quite expensive and service charge added automatically on all tables). The staff were really good though, and Terry (I think) behind the bar was really helpful and friendly We will definitely visit again

Was very surprised how busy it was for a Thursday lunch time,car park rammed. Advice booking in advance. 40 min wait for food as was so busy,but we were warned. Had tastier fish pie,but lovely and hot,side veg good with little onion's in it, which was different. Would go back.

We were quite disappointed by our visit. We had been recommended this place but would not recommend to anyone. One meal was the burger with fries and I've had better at Wetherspons. It was simply a burger and fries on a plate....and both were warm at best. When the staff member asked if the meal was OK,we did comment but we were met with quite a blank response. They automatically add a service charge which presumably assumes that many British people are too reserved not to challenge it. We were left wondering what service ? Apart from bringing two drinks and two meals to the table that was it. Disappointing all round

Having been a frequent visitor before felt that this would be a nice treat for a roast dinner. I appreciate the cost of living has gone up but £24 for a roast dinner that wasn’t spectacular enough to warrant at £24 price take. Also waited 40 mins for it to be delivered. Due to such huge price increases we will be eating elsewhere. No longer value for money. No atmosphere at all in the pub. Nearly forgot the £14 service charge for a table of 4

Have always enjoyed visit to this Restaurant however our visit with our family was disappointing.This was on Friday evening 20th October.The service Was rushed and during the meal we had 4 different staff attending to our table.. In the past the attentive table service was a joy and made the visit very pleasant.I note the twelve and half% service charge you have now added to the bill?.Our 1st and 2nd courses took far longer than usual to come to table.So this time our visit was not very memorable sadly.Chris Barker

Sorry to say very disappointed with our visit for a birthday treat. Meal was a disaster - the Chicken Schnitzel must have seen the inside of the fryer at least 3 times, was as tough as leather and the plate was stone cold. Previous lunch date was great. Originally considering Christmas visit but not now! 26/10/23

Regularly stop here to eat on the way back from looking after the grandchildren. Excellent choice of dishes, but personally I like the lamb-shank with minted mash and crispy cabbage washed down with a good selection of real ales.

Visited while having a few days break in the new forest for dinner. All good was hot, my husband said it was the best squid he'd EVER eaten, my hake was delicious,

Very busy, but good service and great food.

We had a lovely time ! Booking online was really easy and confirmation was received immediately . Menu was certainly extensive enough for what we needed and staff were very nice . Between us we enjoyed the fish pie , fish and chips and the crispy Thai salad which was bursting with texture and flavour . For a chain place , this felt very homely . Very nice wines offered by the glass and all in all , everything seemed reasonably priced

Great food & great service. 1st time of dining at the White Hart. We popped in for a 3 course lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely eat there again. I can highly recommend the squid starter. The only down side to be aware of is that a 12.5% service charge is added to the bill. It would be up to the individual how you deal with that ! However it is shared between the staff and doesn't end up in the companies coffers.

Lovely pub building and atmosphere. The food was super. The ale was just average but lagers were fine. Would definitely return if in the area. The pub does have a wheelchair accessible toilet (a review earlier today suggested it did not)

I like this pub,but the toilets are upstairs so I don't know how wheel chairs would cope .

Good place to visit for a beer and some nice food

First time lunch visit to the White Hart, and we were so pleased with the welcome, the service, food and bar. A rather unique place. It is clean, organised, and the service is outstanding. Our waitress was Kimberley who was beyond reproach. The barman (sorry no name) was brilliant, which made the whole experience absolutely outstanding. There was nothing that could have been done to make the experience more positive. Thank you.
