Went for lunch with friends and had booked for 1:30pm with a view to getting back for a carol service by 4pm. On arrival we were told that the table wasn’t ready and so we got a drink. The manager advised us to order our food, which we did, as there was a party of 17 due. We were seated after 15 minutes but it then took nearly my 90 to get our main course (we had skipped starter as we were told that would have taken too long!). The food was nothing special and most had not been cooked to order, so no logic reason for the delay. It then took 30 minutes from ordering to get a dessert (all of which were pre-prepared). So we arrived at 1:30 and got away at 4:15 during which time we were asked if we needed anything just once by the staff. On asking for the bill, they said they would take off the service charge but then forgot to do it. They blamed the poor service on the Christmas rush but the real reason is more likely a mixture of incompetence and greed - taking too many bookings for their staff to deal with.

We had lunch today at the White Hart. Our waitress, Wendy, was excellent. Even when told there was a 30 minute wait for our food, she kept us informed at every stage. Smiling and chatty to just the right level. Wendy is a true asset to your company. See you in the NY - can’t wait to open the envelope!!

Arrived at the white Hart today for a meal with a friend, when I got there I waited at the bar to be seated ( I had booked a table) there were 3 people beside the bar BUT none of them exnolaged me and was stood there for a few minutes. Eventually a more mature lady said hello are you being served I said no and she showed me to our table, I asked for a drink and was brought it by a man that just slamed it on the table, the lady came back and took our order and said they were really busy and it could take longer than normal to serve us, but infact it didn't take to long to get our food which was very good, we had the Xmas meal 2 course for £36 for the price it was very good. I am a manager of a pub very much like the white Hart so experienced in hospitality your food is of a very high standard BUT your customer service need to be improved!! And as you know is of the upmost importantcy. 5* to your kitchen staff though.

Three of us met up for lunch today. I had the roast turkey Christmas dinner, followed by the Christmas pud. It would not normally be my choice of food, but l was very pleasantly surprised. It was tasty, the choice of vegetables was great. There was extra gravy, which was a bonus, and a lovely cranberry sauce! The pud was light, nutty and absolutely delicious. Well done that chef, AND all the staff. Grand job. Thankyou!

The good news.... This is our second visit here because when we visited a couple of months ago, the food, although a little slow in arriving, was of the highest order one could expect. Comfortable warm surroundings, excellent service from knowledgeable staff, but once again waiting 30 minutes for food to arrive I felt was a little slow. This is the sort of place you go to for a pleasant relaxing meal and time is of little importance. If you are in a hurry, this place is so well run that I am sure a word in the 'appropriate ear' would receive a positive response. The not so good news hence only 3 pips..... I don't care if people do not think I move with the times. I am talking tips or 'voluntary' service charges here. We chose our meals from the website prior to arriving. I did not see any mention of any service charge on any of the pages on screen ( I stand for correction if need be) I was not present at the time of payment but was told that later by my wife that a charge of 12.5% had been added to the bill (an additional 14 quid) It is now becoming common place for establishments to add this "voluntary' payment for something that is supposed to be aimed at promoting good service and is not a right. People "cough' up because they are too embarassed to question it. If establishments were honest, they would tell customers before any orders were placed, that and such and such service charge would be added to the bill as standard and if this was not acceptable, not to add it. The customer can then decide what to add, if anything, when the time comes to pay. Their choice, not the establishments. Next time I come here, the first thing I will request is for the bill to be presented minus the service charge. I will then decide what amount is proportionate for a 'tip'

6 of us popped in yesterday (Saturday) lunchtime having attended a funeral service nearby. We were so lucky that there was one table available for us sit at and have food, as we hadn't booked because we were 'playing it by ear'. I'd checked the reviews and menu the night before and saw that they did lots of gluten free options and got good reviews so suggested it as it was so close and convenient. I had the gluten free fish and chips, which was lovely and a very nice glass of rosé. The others in the group had the BLT, steak sandwich and risotto - all of which were very nice. We did have to wait a while for our food but we were warned about that as they were full, with large party, and we were last to order. That was fine and we enjoyed talking and drinking whilst we waited. Thoroughly recommend and would definitely return if we found ourselves in the area again. Recommend booking in advance for a weekend lunchtime, at least.

What a lovely afternoon. The food was wonderful, the place itself is a lovely but most of all the staff were so helpful and friendly. This was my mother-in-law’s first outing since using a wheelchair and they couldn’t have been more helpful or understanding. Amazing pub, we went twice in our stay in the New Forest. On Sunday for lunch and on Tuesday for evening meal. The staff both times were amazing - on Sunday we were asked if we had an allergies, which I do - dairy/lactose. I was shown how to scan the menu and it would give me the options I could eat. I had an amazing lunch of butternut squash wellington - really really good. My husband had the burger which he said was brilliant too. On Tuesday evening again I was asked about allergies and I had arancini as a starter and my husband had the pate option - both were lovely and the chutney with the pate was brilliant. We both had steak and the chef made sure mine was dairy free. We will visit this pub as much as we can on our travels. Outstanding staff can't praise them enough - thank you for making my eating experience so easy, your customer service is exemplary. thank you 5*****

I had the crab and prawn cocktail followed by the mushroom arranchini with pigeon breast which was a starter but I it’s a portion of vegetables was what I fancied. My other half had the pate followed by loin of venison. I managed the apple and blackcurrant crumble tart with other blackcurrant sorbet. All the food was delicious and the service was excellent too. Lovely pub/restaurant, the staff were perfect. Our waitress Stacey was wonderful. My only very slight negative would be that we couldn't open the windows and the fish pie was a bit too dry, the sauce was delicious but for me more sauce would be better. It was served with the fish and mash presented in a ring with the sauce on the side which looked beautiful but did leave the fish a little dry and hard to eat. The addition of water bowls for dogs is a fantastic idea and most welcome. Would very much recommend. Also had a very large garden with plenty of space for children to play and an overflow car park. Ideal.

We were at the new forest and looked for a place to grab a late meal (at around 6pm on a bank holiday Monday), most of the pubs we’ve gone too were closed which was lucky as it led us to the White Hart which was quite good The pub as a large area outside with swings which is nice for the little ones The food was better than you would expect from your regular pub - my burger was nice and juicy Service wise, it was the good old - order from the counter and it’ll be served to the table so no table service (at least when we have been there) It’s also located near main roads from which it’s easy to leave and head out of the new forest, it was perfect for us as we could have a nice meal, skip most of the traffic and head out

We had a table booked, but when we turned up we were told food would be a 35 to 45 min wait, and to be fair it was a very busy summer Friday night, the queue for the bar was out of the door, although it cleared quickly. Then they surprised us by serving the starter in less than 15 minutes after we ordered, and main course equally quick, maybe they were managing our expectations! :-D They're obviously a very popular pub when the sun is shining, with a lot of garden tables. So at £30 for a beef or lamb lunch ( including 1/2 a cauliflower cheese side ) you expect perfection. In fact we all agreed this is the most expensive Sunday lunch pub we had ever seen or had! ( and we’ve been to lots! ) Lamb was nice but one had to be returned as too much bone and fat. Replaced with sirloin beef which was very good. Pink and well seasoned. Cauliflower Cheese was nice as was the snip purée. Gravy was very good! Veg was average and the yorkies were yuk - soft and stodgy not good at all. Service was very slow from start to finish. And you get that basic error of no mint / horse radish sauces offered at the beginning so we have to ask for it and wait 5 minutes for it to arrive whilst your food goes cold. Drinks were also expensive. £14 ish for a large glass of average red. So it was over £180 ish for 4 people - 1 plate of food each, 2 sides, 1 drink each and 2 soft drinks. No starters, desserts or coffee. Service charge added without permission, always cheeky and a bit naughty when it’s so poor. Was Sunday lunch at the White Hart worth it? Probably not.

Another great visit to The White Hart. The lady that served us, Debs, was new and asked us to be nice but we instantly warmed to her and in honesty wouldn’t have known she was new had she not mentioned it. Friendly, chatty and she looked after us throughout, although in honesty all the staff we have ever dealt with here are great. Crispy beef salad for two please Wickes was lovely. Trying to be good I did forego the pudding, which I don’t normally do, but 10 days upcoming in BBQ centre of the USA made me hold fast!!! Got two more voucher for money off our next visit so no doubt we will be back soon. Well done Debs, a great addition to the team and well done to the rest of the team too. The only thing negative thing I would say is that they put a 12.5% service charge on the bill (which is fine) but then the card machine asks if you want to add a tip with I think the minimum being 10%. I’m all for tipping and will always recognise good service but if you miss there’s a service charge on the bill and add another 10% on that starts using excessive. I’d rather leave a cash tip for the staff or have it as a service charge on the bill but not both. Other than that service as usual!! Well done.

They charge more for the outside “bbq’ burger when the exact same thing on the inside menu was cheaper ! We made a trip down for the beer festival, We won’t be making the visit again, poorly managed, stop the so called BBQ food early (it’s not an actual BBQ same grills as they use in the kitchen) The ques for drinks were terrible, the music was worse I would class this as more of a garden party than a beer festival to be honest. You ask the staff a question and they didn’t know the answer (what time the food inside was stopping) the response I got was in a very sarcastic manner “I have no idea” this member of staff is on the website photo so not likely to be temp just for festival. Thank god it wasn’t chargeable to go. We unfortunately wouldn’t attend again. It was a shame as we made a special trip down for this as recommended by friends - we actually went and ate at another pub down the road. Maybe some staff training. Better organisation and bands who can reasonable sing a mixture of music. The end on Saturday night was crap from bad band to rave music then suddenly the music stopped and that was it no announcement or Anything quite a strange finish compared to other events we have been too. Would have given 3 stars but due to the fact of charging different prices for the same products from a business owners point a view (don’t get caught should not have had the other menus on offer)

Having visited several other pubs in the chain numerous times we came with high expectations. The internal layout is not great but I hear that there's going to be a refurbishment. The starters were good. There was a long wait between them and the main course. When they arrived we were disappointed. My pie was small, mostly thick pastry and very little filling, the pile of cabbage was lukewarm at best. The fish and chips were average, lots of batter and cold mushy peas. Icecreams for pudding were not exactly generous in nature. The bill arrived quickly with the 12.5% service charge added which I personally don't agree with, I nearly always tip , we're not in America. Nothing was said at the time as I didn't want to make a fuss Infront of family while celebrating a birthday. We're not going to be rushing back and I do hope that this is not an indication of a lowering of standards across the whole chain.

I went here on 2/6/24 it was a busy Sunday afternoon and because they were short of bar staff, we were queuing out of the door. The bar was literally half full of dirty glasses waiting to be washed.I was served a diet coke which tasted of chlorine and was then told that possibly the syrup had gone off and I was given a bottle instead. Upon leaving I popped to the toilets and found toilet roll and empty rolls everywhere, obviously these had not been checked all day. We have been meaning to have food here for ages. Today we took my mother in law for lunch. It did not disappoint! We all had a starter, the presentation was lovely as was the food and portion! I had the chilli squid which was delicious. The gentleman which took our order was really helpful and also great at recommending items, I then had the chicken and gnocchi with mushrooms which was so tasty! The pub has recently I believe had a paint job on the outside and has got new benches outside this year and looks great. Also a big plus point the ladies loo has a decent hand dryer!!! Also like to add it's nice to see places with products for ladies in the loo should they need it! Which The White Hart has done. All in all a wonderful way to spend a few hours eating good food and drinks chatting with family and friends.

I am not the type to do reviews and this was a random stop off on a passing journey from the Isle of Wight. Stopped off for lunch, I had the 7oz steak rare of which was absolutely phenomenal, and very filling, with the garlic bread. My wife had the quiche gluten free, and thought it was delicious, and extremely filling considering it was a “lite bite” The atmosphere is calm, relaxing and comfortable, the staff are polite, welcoming and very professional. The building itself and garden is beautiful. Very glad we stopped, and will definitely be stopping here again if we are ever passing.

Allergen aware and great service! Food was amazing. We both had the crispy beef salad which was fresh and tasty, I'd highly recommend it. My gluten intolerance wasn't a problem here. I can see this place getting very busy in summer. We'll be back for sure

Fantastic food. I phoned to check there was a vegan choice. The chef provided me with a good selection of dishes and my meal was probably one of the best I have ever had. Rest of group also had delicious food. Stayed overnight and the breakfast was very good as well. Incredibly friendly team behind the bar and the room was very comfortable.

Unwelcoming to families with young children. Staff with a lot of attitude. We’ve been here many times over the years but never again. Such a shame. We booked ahead for late Sunday lunch and when we arrived learnt dogs were not allowed in the restaurant. I asked if the bar was available but was told with attitude ‘I’ve just said there’s no room’. Clearly we had made the cardinal sin of needing anything from the staff and our booking was scrubbed from the book. We received a lot of attitude and eye rolling from the female restaurant manager and waitresses when we asked for our booked table back. We should have known to leave at this point. We had a baby and three toddlers and the staff blanked us. We asked for menus, we asked for our orders to be taken, we went to the bar for our drinks. We asked for water and glasses, We asked for drawing paper and received attitude again. Our children now starving were acting up. We asked for the bread and butter we ordered to keep them happy but ‘the kitchen hadn’t made it yet’. Two underwhelming roasts, a kids meal and £60 we got out of there. Of course we asked for the bill. And the card machine.
