Lovely pub with high quality food and drink but the prices are very high for what you get ! Portion sizes are Shockingly small for the amount of money you are paying.

Was a little disappointed today. Hubby asked for pie of the day (steak and ale) with chips. It arrived with mash. I had the chicken schnitzel. meals were VERY bland. NO flavour to anything. Had to pile on the salt and pepper to add some form of flavour and the mash was really dry. Hubby had gravy with his pie so at least that helped. They did offer to bring a side of chips for him but we declined. Service: No one came to check on whether we were enjoying the meal or even asked us when they collected our plates. I had to go up to the bar and ask for another drink and didn’t get offered to bring it to our table. Very unfortunate as it is in such a lovely setting.

This is alovely pub in a beautiful setting, however we were disappointed today. We had been promised a dog friendly table around to the right side as you walk in . However when we arrived we were directed to a high table with high stools and next to it and was a young man setting up to sing. We requested another table as we knew it would be too loud. This was denied. We went to our table and had to ask the young man to move his equipment from our table( which he did ). When he started playing ( and he was very good) it was at full volume but we couldn't talk to each other!. it was uncomfortably loud!. Food wise The roast pork was lovely, the roast chicken was good but the vegetables were very eldente and for 2 of the plates you couldn't cut the veges, apart from the cabbage and peas. It was a shame for the talented young man as most of the Sunday crowd couldn't hear him and he was excellent. Had we been moved to a different table, we would've stayed for another round of drinks and puddings so the pub lost out on more money.

Awfully rude staff, so much attitude and not a tad sincere. Popped in for a drink and a portion of cheesy chips and olives. Went to order at the bar and although outside was practically empty was insisted we got the table number and she was refusing to take our order until we got the table number. However a nice boy called Harvey stepped in and sorted it. Secondly the food came and we had to tell the waitress it was ours, then we start eating and she comes over and takes the olives, telling us we didn’t order them and we ordered bread. We had to tell her multiple times that we didn’t order bread and then she gave them back. Then they come over with an order of bread and chips and we tell them it’s not ours and she has so much attitude, and yet again Harvey had to step in and tell her where to go and then she walks back swearing under her breath and rolls her eyes. Ny friend went to get condiments and asked the staff and she replied “there outside aren’t they”. A couple near by even heard how rude we were spoken to and asked us if we were ok because of the attitude of the staff. Olives were £5 and were awful and chips was a very small portion. Will not be returning. Used to be a nice pub, now all the staff have attitude problems and are not willing to help.

Unfortunately this is one of the most dissatisfying experiences in a while. The service was extremely slow: 10 mins to be seated, 20 mins sat before we had to ask to order. 45 mins for the food to arrive, which was cold and items were forgotten. Staff were uninterested and apologetic. A real shame.

We have been to this pub for dinner on a number of accessions and generally the service is not bad, but last night, the worst service I’ve had hands down, not just here but anywhere. We arrived 10 mins early to be seated on time, so far so good. Ordered our drinks and meals all within about 10-15 mins, they were busy when we arrived so this was fairly speedy. Drinks did not arrive for 40 mins, one of them never arrived, my partners coffee, despite them mentioning it a few times when passing the table. The children were outside playing when the starters arrived as they were fed up of being seated for an hour or more waiting on the starters. 2 of them we didn’t order and were supposed to be the children’s meal option rather than the starter option, so those were refused. We finally received our main meals almost 2 hours after we were seated. I had the pork roast which was actually very nice. The timings weren’t what made me write this review, the fact they had the audacity to bring out 1 child’s goujon meal split across 2 plates for an 11 and a 12 year old at the cost of £8.50 a head. Disgusting. Like I said we have eaten here plenty of times before and the children’s meal has never been 1.5 chicken goujons and about 9 chips. They also ordered brocolli which never came. But by this point the children needed to go home as they had school in the morning and we had all had enough of the shocking service. Whilst we were eating a lady came to ask if we wanted more drinks and we asked for a Pepsi max, a lemonade and a water, never received the water. Remember that coffee we never got earlier? That was on the bill so we know it was put through the till. Didn’t stay for dessert as it was late, much to the children’s disgust as they were still hungry. We had to get the 2 older children a drive thru McDonald’s on the way home as they were both starving.

Visited this pub a few times recently during the week in the early evenings. Always a reasonable amount of customers, in spite of being during the week. Every visit the service from staff is okay, they all seem fairly pleasant. The latte here is good quality coffee and fairly strong, but one negative point, is that the cups they serve it in are always very small for the price they are charging, and are one size only. On the positive side, the area for drinks is beautifully decorated and very cozy and warm on cold days. Always a great selection of background music playing. Always a lively atmosphere in this pub, even during the weekday evenings.

Visited recently with our toddler. It was quiet as 5pm and was peaceful and cozy. Plenty of parking. Portions were generous and menu was excellent. Good quality ingredients and kids meal was excellent. We had crispy pigs cheeks off the BURNS menu which were amazing and surprisingly filling ! Burger was also great. The place is well decorated and a beautiful building with plenty of space to eat and drink - the little rooms and corners are cute and the conservatory was lovely too. Staff were efficient and very friendly. Nice to have some games for the children to play as entertaining. A toddler is always tricky, even with plenty of sticker books. She liked playing with the Jenga. Would definitely return when we re-visit the area on holiday later this year and wish this was our own local !

Lovely pub / restaurant in really nice setting. Unfortunately that's where it ends. Arrived slightly early for our reservation but met with friendly staff and sat down. Waitress arrived and we ordered our drinks. Drinks arrived after about 10 minutes, waitress then took food order. We then waited 45 minutes for the starter which one had to be returned as it was only luke warm. By the time it returned the rest of us had finished ours. Lunch arrived but again some of it only luke warm and not cooked fully. By this time we a bit fed up so ate what was edible and mentioned to the waitress our complaint. Felt sorry for the waitress as none of this was her fault. Lastly think that £10.30 for a 20cl bottle of prosecco is a bit pricey. We did get 20% off of our bill but unfortunately will not be returning.

I visited The Alice Lisle on Sunday 12 November 2023 at lunchtime, a weekend during term time after a walk in the New Forest.  I was with three other people.  I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place. I parked in the pub car park - parking was easy. The restaurant comprises of a number of medium sized dining areas with plenty of tables with full table service.  The restaurant was bright and clean. The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good.  There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily.  I paid around £40 for two courses and drinks. Overall I enjoyed my visit and would visit again.

Pub is being refurbished at the moment. Often been here in the past, always reliable good 4/5 +. Value for money was poor today, portion sizes were small (I don't have a massive appetite, but left hungry) and cooking wasn't up to expectations (veg in my Irish Stew was undercooked). Pleasant setting and staff were friendly and helpful. Left feeling disappointed. It's a shame because for many years has been a reliable place to eat. Hopefully it's just a hiccup, but judging on some recent reviews that may not be the case.

We booked a table for lunch on Sunday 15th October, for nine people, including three young children. We arrived at 12.30, the time we had booked, but by 1.30 our order had not been brought to our table. This prompted a polite reminder to the front desk. The food arrived about 10 minutes later - by this time the children, hungry and losing patience, were fractious. The food was disappointing. The roast beef was decidedly leathery despite being apparently cooked 'pink'. The parsnips in particular were undercooked and tough. The beef gravy had an insufficient real beef content. The only positives were the Yorkshire pudding and the desserts. Why aren't young children served first? Waiting for over an hour for their lunch did not add to the party mood. Finally, there was an over-long wait for the bill – combined with poor service and disappointing food, the outing to the Alice Lisle was not a success.

We were all impressed with our meals, the choice is basic as is a lot of pubs these days. I had the beefburger and chips which were both cooked perfectly, the chips were especially good. The others had pie and mash and sausages and mash. All of it was hot and served by a very friendly waitress. We went on a Monday so probably quieter than a weekend. Roast dinner was hideously expensive, portion sizes were small, the beef was chewy and tasteless…..and only a smidgen of gravy A Fullers pub, and our stomachs were far from that when we left as was my wallet , 4 roasts and 1 fish ands chips and 5 drinks came to £130 RIP OFF Only saw staff when the food was delivered and plated collected Lovely setting though but NOT worth the money we paid to enjoy it, never again!

I spent my 60th birthday party here and the staff helped make it special. Good is excellent too.
