Fantastic food. I phoned to check there was a vegan choice. The chef provided me with a good selection of dishes and my meal was probably one of the best I have ever had. Rest of group also had delicious food. Stayed overnight and the breakfast was very good as well. Incredibly friendly team behind the bar and the room was very comfortable.

Gorgeous lunch, after a great breakfast this morning. It’s a pub literally a stones throw from the town and quay. We stayed for 2 nights. The place needs a little face lift but more than makes up for it in its food, staff and locality. If you’re booking, scroll through all the rooms.

We are local and have used the Bosuns Chair many of times but last night we had the best meal ! We had 2 x Ribeye steak 14oz with peppercorn sauce which came with fries and a beautiful fresh salad but the actual Steak came out on the lava stones what an amazing piece of meat and what a very special way to serve it ! Thank you so much for the delicious meal

Nice pub with a lovely covered garden by a huge permanent marquee which has large TV showing sports etc. Pizza and steak sandwiches were very good. Two girls behind the bar were very hospitable and friendly 👏 I'd recommend they make cutlery more visible and not hidden round the other end of the bar. Food was good, but I don't think it's somewhere you'd go for a proper meal as it's pizza, burgers, steak & fish finger sandwiches, fries and good nachos. About 5 minutes walk toothed bottom of Lymington high street and the marina.

Stayed here for one night at the end of our holiday due to train cancellations, we booked the fog friendly room, it's was spotlessly clean, smelt great! Which considering it's a dog friendly room was great. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. The pub itself is a lovely pub with great outside area and good menu. The breakfast included was absolutely incredible! Well worth the extra night stay, even our doggy got a dish of treats and a bowl of water. Credit to the chef, 10/10 quality food and 10/10 for presentation. Great location, right next to station, few mins walk to the lovely quay, and about 5mins walk to highstreet. Just wanted to leave a review for our 2 night stay. The pub is under new management since November 2023, we had a lovely size first floor room which was tastefully redecorated recently, the bed was super comfortable. The breakfast served by the manager / owner was one of the best we have ever had. Brilliant central location for the town and walks locally.

Who knew you could stay in central Lymington for a very reasonable price with car parking on site! What a gem, nice pub with lovely recently refurbished rooms, we had a double which was a generous size with an en-suite offering a bath and shower over. The bed was very comfortable, beautiful bedding, and the room quiet considering it was above part of the bar. Decent tea and coffee facilities, tv, hairdryer, everything you would expect from a good hotel! Good choice of cooked breakfast, only thing missing here was any fruit. Fabulous location, very close to the town centre and the quay; and lovely welcoming people. Will definitely stay here again!

This spot is great for a trip away from town. Next to the train station but you wouldn’t know it. Easily accessible from Waterloo/south west trains. Spitting distance from lymington quay and high st. Small amount of parking available. Recently refurbished. Now selling self as a sports bar - was heaving for yesterdays rugby and football, but the bar staff were all over it! Quieter when no games on. Large covered beer garden and smaller open area. We booked one night and had dinner and breakfast there. Menu is online, not huge but what they do, they do exceptionally well. Our fish and chips / brioche burger and fries were sooo good, as was the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Portions are normal, not gluttonous, so we had room for pudding. Breakfast was delicious too. Two full English’s were thoroughly enjoyed. Good produce and beautifully cooked. We were last down to eat so had the full attention of the young lady serving, and she was v attentive. Our room was immaculate and freshly decorated. The en-suite like wise. Piles of soft white towels, lovely linen, comfy huge bed and pillows. More toiletries than we could use, and the usual coffee machine, hairdryer, kettle, tv etc. We were top floor which was lovely and quiet. The room was on the cooler side - but not cold - which we liked, and not roasting unlike some chains. Great value for money, we could not fault it. We have already recommended it to family and will be going back. Thank you for a lovely stay :-)

Food was ok nothing to brag about. However the lady (I think the owner) had a nerve to come and tell us 30min before her next reservation that her guest have arrived. Well who were we then?! When we sat at that table we knew it was booked from 19:00 and we were planning to leave anyway at 18:50 for our train. The manner this was said was completely unnecessary. What a shame, where are your manners.

The room was a little dated from a decor perspective, but spotlessly clean with everything you would need. Well stocked tea tray with quality brands of tea/ coffee and biscuits. Bottled water also a nice touch. Finally, the breakfast! Wow - good choice of cooked options and also well stocked cereal bar with fresh juice. We had the full English and I can honestly say it is one of the best breakfasts I have had in any hotel! Just superb - piping hot, quality ingredients and nicely presented. Really liked the Bosun’s Chair. Very welcoming hostess and staff. Food was lovely as was their selection of beers. Service was attentive and good. It got very busy with a band on that night so service slowed a bit but that was to be expected. We did ask for a table and were told nothing available and after we had left, stopped in the street and decided to try again a table was found that we needed to share if anyone turned up, which they did. No problem as it was a big table and the company was good to talk to. Would recommend although food was quite expensive but where isn’t these days? Went back a couple of times for a drink. Nice staff and the room was very clean , however a couple of points needed addressing : a hair dryer is provided but there are no plugs near a mirror ( I need to see what I am doing!). I requested either a mirror or an extension lead as I needed to wash my hair before going out. Neither was provided before we had to go out that evening. An extension lead was left by the bedroom door by the time we left in the morning ( it had not been there when we went to bed the previous night) but by then it was of course too late ! The bedroom windows didn’t open and the toilet ( rather alarmingly), was right by an only partially obscured window. We had a light breakfast, which was nice, and served by friendly staff.

The pub was quiet, with little ambience. I chose the fennel fish stew having asked the waitress what type of fish it contained (prawns and cod.) I received a very nicely presented bowl of stew. The ciabatta bread was warm, light and tasty. The stew contained 3 prawns and 3 pieces of cod 1cm x 2cm in size. There was very little taste of fennel and It probably contained a whole onion sliced. Essentially, I received a thick chunky tomato and onion soup and bread for £12.50 with barely ‘starter’ sized portion of fish. The waitress in charge asked how my meal was and I expressed there wasn’t much fish. She looked blankly at me and went away. I thought she had gone to get some more fish but this was not the case. At payment, a friend expressed how I was disappointed with my meal but she did not offer a discount, refund, or free drinks. As a local, I would not return given there were 2 opportunities for the situation to be rectified. Clearly, this is yet another establishment in the area offering under value food based on exploiting our visitors to our town. Sadly, us locals suffer from this mentality.

Our friend booked the Bosun's Chair for the weekend to celebrate his birthday so we did not know what to expect but we were more than happy. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and when we were shown to our rooms we were delighted. The rooms were bright and clean and well decorated. The rooms were a good size as was the en suite bathroom with good quality soaps, shower gel and shampoo. The towels were large and clean and soft and it was a joy to stay in these rooms. We had tea and coffee making facilities. The only downside was that there was no wardrobe, only hangers on coat hooks on the wall but as we were only staying a couple of nights it was not a problem. The gardens with the new picnic benches allowed us to relax with a drink and something to eat and enjoy the sunshine that we have been having of late. Breakfast was sufficient with cereals, fruit, full English or other requests. The pub itself had been recently decorated and welcoming and a cleaner was apparent throughout our stay, cleaning the pub inside and out to ensure that everywhere was pristine. The Bosun's Chair was ideally situated and a short walk away from the marina and bustling harbour front and local to the high street with market on Saturday and all the shops that you could wish for including several banks. It is about 6 miles away from Beaulieu Motor Museum, Abbey and Palace and other tourist attractions. We had a wonderful break here and have promised to return to Lymington soon and we would definitely stay at the Bosun's Chair.

As regular visitors to Lymington from East Anglia we are set in our ways where we eat. This year our B&B; recommended The Bosun’s Chair which we had not visited for many years when we were diasappointed. What a transformation. We were so impressed we returned again before we left. Comfortable, friendly attentive staff and locals. Quality food and well balanced menu all in an easy walking distance from the centre of the town. We will return when we visit Lymington again which, hopefully , will not be long.

We had arrived in Leamington on a rainy day and been recommended a pub at the touristy harbour area. We went there but it was packed and noisy. We quickly looked on TripAdvisor and saw the Bosun's Chair recommended and headed there. It seemed much more of a locals pub and was quietly humming with people. We could take the dog in and she was given treats, which is always a good sign! We had great food, reasonably priced and decent amount. I like that they have small and large portion sizes, as I don't eat large amounts - that's a good idea. Overall we had a great lunch and felt much more relaxed there. Would really recommend a visit.

We were staying at Brittania House and The Bosun's Chair was recommnended to us. A small menu, but that really did not matter as the food was delicious. The staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. Would recommend eating here!!

The recent make-over has re-vitalised what was not very attractive pub. It is now clearly becoming popular with both visitors and locals. Fine range of beers and the menu, recently introduced focusses on plain 'pub grub" - nothing fancy, nothing pretentious but good honest food, The burgers are particularly good. Despite the busy evening service was smooth and quick..

Visited with my family for Saturday lunch. Great food, selection of drinks and convenient location. Can’t wait until it starts to warm up to have a lazy afternoon in the pub garden. The new decor is cosy yet modern. Ideal location for a meal with the family but also great for a date night.

Real pub. Hidden down by Ashlet creek, you wouldn't happen on it by accident. Good food, good beer, friendly and warm. Dog was welcomed too.

Only sat outside, it has extensive outside areas, just for only adults, a children's playground, and doggy areas. Grub is really nice, inside looks also very pubby. All in all a very nice forest pub.

The food was great but the owner/ manager was insulting and rude. First of all when my grandson’s legs wouldn’t fit under a table due to it having a ledge around it we asked if we could move tables ( the place was empty) he said a table is a table so move if you must, secondly we asked if they did garlic bread as my eight year old granddaughter enjoys it as a starter and he scoffed at us saying ‘this isn’t a Harvester’ and we don’t have processed grated cheese (we didn’t ask for cheese garlic bread and surely any chef can make a price garlic bread! He was condescending to say the least - and for his information we have never ate at a Harvester but I’m sure their staff would be better mannered. Unfortunately my family and I were too taken aback to challenge him. Then throughout the meal he was stood in the restaurant talking very loudly on his phone - a totally rude man! Maybe he just does not like people from the north and thinks we live on fast food restaurant food? However he does have an excellent chef as the food was very good.
