The best restaurants serving British food in Regency Brighton and Hove South East

Super friendly service. We had a lovely brunch, Welsh rarebit, eggs benedict and a jumbo breakfast and we were persuaded to try the “best chips in Brighton “ Everything was freshly prepared and tasty.

Just ate the must tasteless tomato soup and even worse Silverside sold as a sirloin steak in the bar at the Grand Hotel Brighton. I thought the sirloin steak tasted poor quality, joined at the table by two butchers and all three of us agreed it was silverside sold as Sirloin l. Unbelievable

There for a few beers and stepped out into the smoking area, when I tried to get back had been told that the manager had pointed out 4 people who they didn’t want back in, and I was one of them. No explanation why, I’d literally just chatted to the other people outside for the first time and had only had 1 beer. Anyway, avoid. I suspect they don’t want customers of certain demography which was very much the impression the bouncer gave when I asked him why weren’t allowed in. Beer is overpriced here too.

I was excited to eat here having had a drink and previously stayed. We wanted near to the Brighton Centre. My daughter's burger was nice and my friends steak, however my cod dish was so small and not hot, a spoon of lentils and no kale in sight. Staff were nice but very edgy and questionable like wanting the ID of my 18 year old daughter when we are eating and having a wine, she was not going to drink it anyway but its not correct to ask, not with a parent and eating. They refused to give me any oil and balsamic for my bread as I cannot eat the butter, not even oil alone despite admitting they have oil, chef said NO! Very pricey for portion size, and took over an hour for a main, restaurant was almost empty so not sure why. Emailed the manager and did not even get a sorry or gesture of goodwill except a dessert on next return, there are no dairy free ones so this was a useful offer!

I have been here a couple of times when visiting Brighton but sadly today is the last. Very small portions, food is OKAY, had bread and butter £1 for one piece of bread and butter (I could buy a whole loaf for that). Can definitely find better, it’s definitely not value for money and walked away today and felt very disappointed. Shame as it’s a great location!

Large pub, good value for drinks, friendly staff. This is a place for a couple of quick drinks whilst out an about.

Food served on plastic plates. Expensive. Argued with owner that tempura is a batter not breadcrumbs, said I would change for something else which was a £1.00 more expensive and she made the young girl go get the card machine before I could reorder! Dreadful customer service and food very poor

Nah.....Just not the same anymore, gone from one of the best pubs you could ever visit. Now no atmosphere, poor drink selection staff not caring if you are there or not, this is our 4th and very last visit since it reopened from Dr Bs to the Star and Garter.

Me ha encantado la experiencia de realizar un curso de danza brasileña en la hermosa sala en la parte superior de The Tempest. ¡Se siente como un espacio secreto cada vez que voy allí! El personal es servicial, el gerente muy servicial y el espacio está completamente decorado con gran iluminación, buen equipo de DJ y una gran pista para bailar. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente como sala de actos y como lugar para pasar el rato y disfrutar de una copa o dos.

I paid £25 for sausage, chips, and curry sauce, but what I received was oven chips, a greasy sausage, and watery curry sauce. The quality was unacceptable. To make matters worse, the staff were rude and the restaurant was in a dirty condition. I expect much better service and food for that price.

0 estrellas - ¡huye! El peor pescado con patatas fritas de la historia, servicio increíblemente lento, personal horrible, comida repugnante! Una señora que estaba delante de mí había cobrado dos veces por su comida, lo que significa que había pagado 90 libras esterlinas , se negaron a creerle o reembolsarla a pesar de que su banco les dijo que fue su error - también se negaron a darle el doble de la comida! “¡La máquina no comete errores!” Pedí un reembolso solo para que mi comida apareciera mágicamente después de una espera de 45 minutos - fue una falta. Puede pedir usando una pantalla que CLARAMENTE no están configurados para administrar, personal mínimo, mesas sucias. No puedo creer que todavía estén en el negocio, desearía haber revisado las reseñas primero, pero estábamos en un apuro y asumimos que una tienda de pescado con papas fritas junto al mar podría administrar servir alimentos comestibles de manera oportuna sin ser desagradablemente grosero con los clientes. Realmente impactante.
