The West Pier Traditional Fish & Chips in Brighton and Hove

Este lugar fue una sorpresa. Compré bacalao con papas fritas y una salchicha rebozada. Todo rozaba lo no comestible (incluyo una foto de lo que dejé en el plato, me moría de hambre así que tuve que comer algo, pero, como podéis ver el 80 % sigue en el plato). Es un insulto para Brighton tener pescado con papas fritas como este. Y un propietario que parece estar (por leer sus respuestas aquí) en completa negación sobre la calidad de la misma. El pescado NO ESTABA FRESCO, era viejo, cuero, acuoso e insípido, las papas fritas estaban secas igualmente insípidas, obviamente no estaban recién cocinadas y el aceite estaba en su fecha útil o escurrido del fondo de una cosechadora. Lo único suavemente sabroso era la salchicha, que comí para evitar el hambre, pero honestamente, se podía utilizar como una porra antidisturbios. Debí haber leído las otras críticas antes de venir, pero honestamente pensé que el lugar tenía que ser decente con una posición tan privilegiada en el paseo marítimo de Brighton justo al lado del Grand Hotel... Si yo fuera el hotel pondría un cartel en el vestíbulo advirtiendo a la gente que no vaya aquí, ya que arruinará completamente su visita a la costa! Totalmente boquiabierto de que un lugar como este siga existiendo en 2024 , el fish & chips es algo tan fácil de hacer... ...casi siento que este lugar necesita aplaudir por lograr estropear tan a fondo el plato nacional inglés. No estoy seguro de cuál es el nombre de los propietarios, pero le pido señor: salga a probar otros fish and chips de la zona, parece que está negando su comida y utiliza frecuentemente el argumento de que la gente «termina sus platos» como razón para llamarlos «mentirosos», amigo mío, le aseguro : No soy mentirosa, e incluyo una foto de lo que dejé en mi plato. En realidad estoy tratando de ayudar, y creo que la gran mayoría de los revisores aquí también lo están haciendo. Tuve una muy mala experiencia en un restaurante recientemente. El servicio era terrible y la comida no era buena en absoluto. Pedí una pizza que parecía algo que comprarías en la tienda y te calentarías. No sabía a pizza de verdad. El plato de pescado de mi hija no era comestible porque era muy aceitoso, y las papas fritas sabían muy extraño, como si estuvieran cocinadas en algo que no fuera aceite. La camarera y la señora de la caja también era muy grosera y poco profesional. Fue una experiencia realmente decepcionante y desagradable, especialmente para las personas que visitan la zona. Recomiendo encarecidamente revisar las reseñas.

La única razón por la que tiene una estrella es porque las fichas estaban bien, pero eran fichas de horno no fichas astilladas. Nunca me he arrepentido de haber pedido comida poco después de sentarme. El lugar estaba sucio. El piso y las mesas parecían no haber sido limpiados por un tiempo. Intenté pedir pescado con patatas fritas a los niños, pero sólo comen salchichas vegetales o nuggets de pollo. ¿En una tienda de patatas fritas? Se sentó y luego llegó la comida. Mi pastel se enfrió. Se lo quitaron y les oí decir que lo metieran en el microondas. Mi esposa e hija tenían pescado con papas fritas, el pescado al abrirlo se veía amarillo claro y estaba húmedo. La salsa que pedí era tan espesa que no era comestible y tenía una piel gruesa en la parte superior. La salsa de curry estaba llena de aceite y había que removerla unos minutos para que pareciera una salsa. Lo siento, pero le diría a la gente que evite este lugar, ya que terminó costando cerca de £ 70 para la peor comida que recuerdo Ps regar las plantas

¿Tradicional? ¿Qué tienen de tradicional las astillas de horno congeladas y los locales sucios? ¡Si pudiera darle a este lugar cero estrellas lo haría! Llamamos por patatas fritas ya que estaba al lado de nuestro hotel. Cuando llegamos había un tipo dormido apuntalado en el mostrador y varias personas esperando comida. Pedimos y esperamos 25 minutos mientras se cocinaban otros pedidos. Una señora le devolvió la comida ya que había un pelo en sus papas fritas y se negaron a darle un reembolso. Otra señora esperaba casi una hora la mitad de su pedido. El tipo detrás del mostrador luego dejó caer una caja de fichas en el suelo y procedió a recogerlas de nuevo y arrojarlas de nuevo con las fichas "nuevas". En ese momento insistimos en un reembolso y los dos tipos que trabajan también se negaron a devolvernos nuestro dinero. Inicialmente afirmaron que no sabían cómo manejar la máquina de tarjetas, y luego afirmaron que tampoco tenían efectivo. Terminamos teniendo que reclamar el dinero a través de nuestro banco. Ninguno de los lugareños usa este lugar como es bien conocido por estar infestado e insalubre (¡basta con buscarlo en Google para los artículos de noticias! ) , pero como turista no estábamos al tanto. Mirando otras reseñas sé que el propietario va a responder que esta reseña es todo mentiras, pero te aseguro que no lo es. Evita a toda costa, a menos que quieras ser estafado. Lamentablemente no puedo subir el video que tengo del mostrador sucio y pisos desaliñados pero lo voy a poner en Google maps para que todos lo vean.

Horriblemente horrible, evita a toda costa... Estafa absoluta, chips de horno cocinados en Dios sabe qué y la salsa de curry era como aceite de motor. Lo que me sorprende es cuántos otros buenos lugares han cerrado y este lugar permanece abierto... Coma aquí bajo su propio riesgo y también tenga en cuenta las bebidas multipack divididas y vendidas por separado. Estoy seguro de que los estándares comerciales estarían muy interesados en este llamado restaurante.

They took our order then couldn’t supply the food ordered and only gave back half the money we paid and supplied us with two trays of chips, which ended up costing 15 pounds. They even had the nerve to then charge 20 pence each for sources. No apologise. Only one person there serving and taking all orders from lots of people with hours waiting times and no money back. Disgusting.

I rated it 1 because I could not give zero. Absolutely awful. Seriously overpriced junk food. Who serves Frozen chips at the seaside. Stay away at all costs. Worst fish and chips ever.

Il cibo di per se non male, anche se la qualità del fritto era più che discutibile… Locale non troppo pulito, fila alle casse (automatiche) e ordinazioni in ritardo. Purtroppo il povero dipendente, in affanno e senza colpe, era solo e di più non poteva fare. Da rivedere.

During a recent weekend trip to Brighton my partner and I decided we fancied a quick bite to eat before we went on the British Airways i360 which is where we found The West Pier Fish and Chip shop. A great location right on the Brighton Seafront seems like the ideal place to get British Fish and Chips right?... wrong!!! We were greeted by a very friendly lady on the till but this is as far as anything pleasant went with our experience here!! We ordered a Fish cake and chips and one large cod, my partner paid and I went to use the toilet. This is where I had my first concerns - the toilets were absolutely filthy and the lock on the door was broken. I also noticed there was no hand soap available so decided I would wait and find a toilet elsewhere! I went back up to wait for our food and overheard a table behind us returning their food and saying the fish had a really funny taste and was mushy on top. They were told they would cook them a fresh one. Meanwhile there was another lady who was supposedly cleaning tables - the cloth she was using was filthy and no sanitiser spray used going between random tables making herself look busy! Our drinks were then brought over and we were given dirty glasses so both decided to drink them out of bottles/cans directly. Our food followed swiftly and we saw we were served a really pale piece of battered fish which had a 'puddle' of mush on the top. My partner decided to peel back the batter and it was then very apparent that the puddle of mush was in fact raw batter which surrounded the fish from where it hadn't been cooked long enough. We tried one mouthful of the fish and can honestly say we are so glad we didn't eat any more than that as it was cold and had an awful taste. We brought this to the attention of the lady who was cleaning the tables and she said she would get us another but by this point we were really put off so said we didn't want another cooking and would just like the money back. The lady then wandered off and then said it wouldn't be long - when we re-explained that we had said we wouldn't like another she was rude and replied 'it's already cooking'. The guy who was cooking the fish then spoke to my partner over the counter and said 'look it's fine let me eat it in front of you and proceeded to push his dirty fingers into the middle of the fish' - absolutely disgusting!! The chips were covered in brown grease and looked like something you'd find in a School canteen - not traditional chip shop chips at all!! The fish cake had a really strong off taste too so we decided that for fear of becoming unwell during our weekend away that we wouldn't eat anything more. Our meal came to £30 and we were reluctantly given £10 back. After leaving in total shock at such a poor and unsanitary experience we decided to look at online reviews and it appears our experience doesn't seem to be an isolated one as there are hundreds of similar reviews online. Just wish we'd looked before we'd ordered :(

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! If it was possible to give an absolute zero rating, you can be Sure I would have done so. This establishment is filthy, I nearly slipped and broke my neck. When I explained, whoever was behind the counter said I needed to be more careful. I explained that I had literally just walked in and they simply shrugged their shoulders, no apology whatsoever. The fish was a mass of grey sludge, typical of what you'd encounter with a blocked sink. The batter and the grey chips were rock hard and was tough like Victorian boot leather, therefore impossible to cut through, this is typical when food if this type has been heated over-and-over. The curry sauce was nothing short of pigs swill, very runny, with a 40% layer of dirty grease and had the taste of gone off pilchards. Finally, they provided me with the most useless plastic fork which broke instantly, I could have sworn these became illegal. How does a restaurant get away with so many food crimes when inspected?. Ultimately, either the food standards agency are incompetent and/or received a back hand of cash to keep quiet with their report. I would urge every potential customer to keep away. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Wasn’t convinced about this place from the start but a good location at the time. I never actually saw any food for anyone being produced. I wasn’t the only one to ask for my money back today.

Ordered through Uber eats. Agree with other reviews the food quality is exceptionally poor. The chips were entirely unseasoned and no better than frozen chips available in any supermarket. The curry sauce significantly lacked flavour and the portion size wasn’t nearly enough for a regular chips let alone more. My main gripe is that what is described as ‘bartered veggie sausage’ is two poorly fried (and clearly frozen and reheated) vegetable fingers (I.E. the kind you get in supermarkets for a couple of quid max for 8-12) charged at an absolutely unreasonable rate. Having known what would arrive I would not have ordered them, even if they had been good quality (which they were not) the dish should really be rethought (veggie/vegan meat replica sausages are really not difficult to acquire for a reasonable price) failing that the description of the dish NEEDS updating, it’s simply not accurate.

Worst fish and chips I have EVER eaten! Fish was old, frozen, and smelt. Chips were frozen… I mean… really?! Cost £30 for 1 cod and chips with 1 portion of scampi. Order was wrong- had been charged for a battered sausage too that had been there for a week! Curry sauce was from a packet and the worker had no shame bringing out frozen chips right infront of us

WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN. the fish stank of wee, one band it appeared with poor service. Battered sausage more like dirt in oil. Not impressed and would certainly not recommend

Ordered a £10.20 fish and chips. The fish was not fresh at all: the texture was too soft, bad taste and smell. Also they gave me plastic forks that melted down in the pulp of the cod. The chips were the tipical poor ones available in a shoddy take-away. I just stopped eating it. They did not even offer me something else to eat to replace that meal nor offered a refund. On the top of that: the fish and chips they give you is completely different from some of the photos uploaded here, starting from the presentation. They just squeeze everything in a box. Please do a favor to yourself and avoid that place.

Ordered 4 lots of fish and chips all of which were horrible, fish dry and very overcooked or old, chips tasteless and clearly from a freezer, 20 pence for a single sauce sachet is just disgusting, but not quite as disgusting as the food.

We were staying at the nearby Hilton Doubletree and fancied take way Fish & Chips because we were tired and didn't want to dine out. The interior of the restaurant was really clean and I only had to wait 10 minutes for our meals. They were packaged very neatly in boxes and I sprinkled salt & vinegar on them before closing the boxes and taking them back. The food was cooked perfectly and the portions were very generous. We both enjoyed our meals and would definitely use the restaurant again on future trips to Brighton.

We were early for an event at the Hilton Metropole and hubby was feeling hungry after not having much all day so we were going to go to the vegan fish and chip shop but was raining hard so ran into this place. Wish we carried on and gor more wet. Staff are friendly, that's where it ends. It was not very clean, tables sticky and floor disgusting. Disappointing food portions, dirty cutlery, cheap sachets of mayonnaise and the food was nasty. I had fish fingers expecting them to be battered but were cheap supermarket frozen ones, chips also tasted like cheap supermarket ones and my hubby had garlic mushrooms that were still frozen and inedible. Wish we'd looked at reviews first, will take this one down as an experience but won't be returning and will tell others to stay well clear.

£4.50 for a portion of chips which were inedible and from a frozen bag, not fresh cut. It’s lazy and shameful, especially at this price. Never again and would strongly recommend people avoid. This over-the-counter place served its purpose as a place along the beach to grab a quick bite. The hot dog was good, but the fish and chips were a standout-fresh fish with a tempura-like crust, served with thick, crispy fries. Go to the food stand on the beach front for this experience. Find out how fish and chips are supposed to taste like. Prices are reasonable, nd service is friendly.

We live in Mallorca, what else should we do on a trip to the British seaside but have fish and chips? From the outside it looked ok, we ordered from the menu and then when saying we wanted to eat inside our bill rose from £21 to £27.35 What for I know not, the dining room was shabby and cold. As for the food, frankly we have way better fish and chips in Mallorca - namely Archie's Bar, Son Caliu. In fact I had a steak and onion pie which had been reheated as had the rather solid tasteless chips. The cod wasn't much better. A rather dismal experience, fortunately offset by the super, if expensive trip up the i360 tower.

I would go as far as to call this business model a scam. I was charged around 20 pounds for 1 portion of fish and chips and 3 small bottles of water although the prices on the wall were much lower. After reading other's reviews it seems like they make the prices up as they go along. Food was nothing to write home about either.

Being from Whitby and having worked in a fish and chip shop I know what to expect in a seaside town. The people running this have no idea and little understanding of how to serve on a busy April sunny day at lunch time. Orders were not going out to customers waiting the longest but people were getting served that came in after we did.It was all frozen - yes at the sea front. The temperature of the fat must have been constantly dropped every time they added the frozen chips!! What kind of place would not make their own chips? Subsequently the fish batter was soggy, skin on, bones and wet fish. I have had better from an inner city takeaway. I think anywhere that serves pizza and kebabs should not be promoting them selves as a fish and chip shop. Terrible. Avoid!!!!

The cod was to greasy feel apart as was eating it chips was like rubber scampi more batter than scampi cups tea was ok but left tea bag it my cup witch I was discusting in my eyes also wouldn’t be going again

Esta tienda de pescado y papas fritas fue una vergüenza, el personal muy caro no tiene ni idea de cómo limpiar al hombre allí, limpiaba las mesas con un paño de cocina y también limpiaba el menú con el mismo paño, discutiendo que el pescado no era bacalao, estaba aguado y no No sabe a bacalao.Me gustaría saber si este lugar tiene una calificación de higiene alimentaria.No pude ver uno en absoluto.Nunca volveré a poner un pie allí, comida asquerosa, personal descuidado y el lugar debe cerrar para siempre.

¡Mi error! Nunca leí las críticas de este lugar. Solo quería una porción de papas fritas y no me hubiera importado el 2. ¡Precio de 80 p si estuvieran frescos! Obviamente congelado e incluso si lo estuvieran, podría haber obtenido 25 porciones de una bolsa de tamaño normal con las pocas papas fritas insípidas que obtuve. Recomiendo encarecidamente ir a otro lado!

Acabo de irme y me siento enfermo después de unos cuantos bocados de pescado empapado y húmedo con un horrible sabor a aceite vegetal. Esto no le sirve bien a Brighton y es despreciable que, a pesar de todas las críticas dejadas por la gente, esta tienda llamada "Fish and Chip" no se haya visto obligada a cerrar. We went here to get out of the rain and wish we got soaked instead! Chips that must of been value ones from a supermarket for about twenty for £2.80! My fish was size of a goldfish and so greasy I left it . Staff tried hard but are not cooks and this shows. Awful value, awful food, stay away!

We thought ‘it’s on the beach front it must be good’ !!! Definitely not, chips are frozen from somewhere like Iceland as mentioned by another reviewer, the fish batter wasn’t even cooked properly, mush and raw underneath. Service wasn’t with a smile and slower than a snail considering we were the only ones in there. The Floor was greasy, portion sizes small and very expensive!! We ordered kids chicken nuggets/chips, kids fish/chips, adult fish/chips and 4 drinks for £30.. In our opinion a shocker of a fish and chip shop. Disgustingly overpriced, at least £1 extra to eat in and have small portions of oven chips that have clearly been fried which cost £3.50 and an extra £1.50 for curry sauce that looked like frogspawn if anything. Ruined a very nice evening as we had previously spent the afternoon watching the sunset and wanted fish and chips to end the night. Not going there again!! Please find somewhere else or another alternative to spend your money on.

Lovely seafront fish and chip shop. clean and spacious ,well furnished. Shame about the food possibly the most expensive and worst pie and chips ever encountered in my life. The pie crust was as hard as a dinner plate and the chips were awful, never again.The long wait was wasted.

Vinimos a este lugar ya que era el más cercano al hotel en el que nos alojábamos. La comida era horrible, y sabía que había sido refrita, ¡las porciones eran ridículamente pequeñas! 2 comidas cuestan 21, y por la cantidad fue horrible.Defo no recomendaría este lugar.Si viene a Brighton, aconseje el mejor lugar de pescado y papas fritas y no asuma que la comida sería buena solo porque es un restaurante / comida para llevar frente al mar.Ir a otra parte! ! ! !

Awful just awful. Sausage and chips and tea for two £16.50 Reheated value chips and sawdust sausage. Felt like we where mugged. Sorry worst experience.

We had 2 pcs of fish, 1 portion fries, 1 jumbo sausage,1 portion baked beans and 2 bot mineral water. It came out to £26.10. When we asked for the breakdown, we were told that the price on the display board is meant for take away and the price for sit down is on the menu. But I must say it’s rediculously overpriced !! The fish was terrible... batter was too thick and hard and oily ! Never again to this restaurant in Brighton !

My family and I stumbled across this place and were drawn to the bright lights and decorations outside...Upon walking in, there was an old lady, who did everything in her power to encourage us to look no further and to dine there as she started calling us, "Beautiful ladies and darling".As we were hungry and looking forward to tucking into some traditional fish and chips, we didn't look at the menu and my mum placed the order over the counter. We weren't seated and left to choose any table.When the food came, which was two plates of fish and chips and one plate of fish with salad, we cut into our food to find no cod but just a dry, overcooked, greasy piece of batter, which was very inedible and tasted off! As the place started filling up alittle, I got up and went to the counter and asked the lady if I could have a word with her, to which she just nodded her head! We waited for a good few minutes and when I saw that there was no one at the counter, I got up and went over to speak to her. As I approached her, I told her that i wasn't satisfied with the food as all she had served was a greasy piece of batter with chips that weren't even traditional but most probably purchased from the local supermarket...her response was horrifying as there was no apology or even an offer to change the food and or replace it, instead, she said, "I have given you the biggest piece, I haven't had any complaints before, no I can't change it"!I advised her that i was a paying customer and that the food served was inedible and not up to standard, but she was sticking to her guns! And to make matters worse, when I told her that there was practically no cod in the fish, she actually had the cheek to say, "Yes, there is no cod because you are it"!, which was absolutely SHOCKING!Her sudden change in attitude not to mention her disgusting display of behaviour resulted in a very heated argument as it seemed that she lurred us into the restaurant to simply rip us off! To think that we were charged almost £40.00 is absolutely absurd and has left me very very angry! We went to another restaurant and paid £17.00 only for two plates of good food...I now only wish that I had read the reviews prior to going to this place not to mention the negative press they had received after they were fined thousands of pounds for breaching Food & Safety Regulations last year as the photos were absolutely SHOCKING as well as disturbing!Do yourselves a huge favour and avoid going into this place at all costs!...and of course, "Don't be FOOLED by The Little Old Lady"!

When going to gigs at Brighton Centre (nearby) this is an ideal place for a quick takeaway / sit down meal at very competitive prices ( for Brighton). Staff very friendly , fish and Chips fair size , fair price , fair quality especially as I say for the location . When you've stent a fortune on gig tickets, parking etc... and have time to spare before support act starts , give this a visit and walk along the seafront thereafter - bliss.

Worst chip shop ever. Frozen chips out of a bag but call the place ‘traditional’ Inedible savaloys grey inside and half the skin peeled off. Also expensive complete waste of money.

Worse meal ever had avoid like the plague cos that’s what’s gonna start there . Needs closing down will complain to trading standards on Monday Staff so rude

We stumbled across this place whilst walking along the front. I kind of wished we continued walking.

Queued up to order fish and chips and mushy peas £10.95 Fish was approx 6 inch in length over battered and couldn't believe oven chips. Food wasn't hot we asked waitress about mussy peas which hadn't arrived we noticed them signed up on top of the hot plate having eaten most of the meal we pointed to the mussy peas she carried on doing something else so with that we got them ourselves. The teaspoons were filthy. We complained about food she said I am only the waitress which we understood but she gave no apology there was no management to complain too. Surely they should state a size of fish like most fish shops. A lot offer a pensioners fish and chips at half the price that would compare to what we were served up. Disgusting we came out angry and still hungry. Trading standards should investigate places like this stating traditional fish and chips misleading rip off. Never go back.

We were in Brighton for a family day out (10 of us). We decided to have fish and chips so went on the hunt for a sit in chip shop, wish we hadn’t found his one!

We visited this fish and chip shop today with my family and there was a large party however we could not believe the disgusting experience we had! Absolutely diabolical service, £10.45 FOR ONLY FISH AND CHIPS! That’s without a drink, ketchup or anything! We had to pay extra for sauce and the chips were not even proper chippy chips. FROZEN OVEN CHIPS! What’s all that about? So we sat there waiting for all our food to come and the curry sauce and baked beans were sat waiting for the waitress to bring them over and she took so long so had to literally go up to get it ourselves ! £30 for two people ridiculous so maybe the service should match the prices. Then we e ordered a kids chicken nuggets and four tiny nuggets! Ridiculous and still expensive enough. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Then we went up and said to the waitress how she was disappointed and I was gobsmacked with the response ‘what do you want me to do’! NO APOLOGY. Couldn’t believe it. Never to return it deserves - 5 STARS !!!

2 x fish and chips, 2 x peroni £29.00 and it was disgusting, over cooked frozen chips, small fish over cooked batter. Very rude staff. DONT BOTHER WITH IT

We ordered several of the options and each was astoundingly disappointing. The fish was not in the least fresh, the batter was thick and overtly crunchy-completely taking away from the experience. The chips are bog-standard, deep fried and terrible. The chicken was alright, but I'm not convinced it is anything more than the ready to fry stuff at Tescos. At the cost over £44 to feed 4, it is laughable. We have never brought more expensively disappointing food. At £11 a dish per person- please do yourself a favour and take the money to the nearby, much nicer looking Compass Point Eatery.

Had a horrible lunch today. We asked for a high chair and it come filthy. The chips are not real chippy chips and service crap. Over priced as well! AVOID

After being in Brighton all day with my 2 young children, my heavily pregnant sister & nephew we decided before we headed back home we would get the kids some dinner here. I ordered 2 x kids nuggets & chips, savoloy & chips & a bottle of water. This came to £19.40. I worked it out that the kids nuggets & chips were just under £7 each!! We then waited about 15 mins for this (they wasn’t very busy) When the meals came out all that was on the plate was 3 nuggets & a handful of well cooked chips. My sister had a bite of a chip & they were cold. The menu we were looking at was on the wall next to the till at no point was we told that if we were to eat in then there would be a price difference. As my sister is pregnant we didn’t want to take the chance to eat the savoloy or the nuggets. If the chips were cold then who knows what the rest tasted like. We complained to them & demanded our money back.

Its not something I do lightly, as you will see from my many reviews, but I had to speak up about this, as the whole experience was shocking!

I went here last night with my little boy as we were out walking and I just wanted something quick to eat. I asked for a pie and chips which cost about £6.50 I thought that was quite expensive anyway but as long as the food was nice I wouldn’t mind. The food came out and the pie was rubbery and Luke warm and the chips were the worst I’ve ever tasted. They were frozen oven chips. I asked for a refund before eating but they refused and said there was nothing wrong with the food. Avoid this place at all costs

What can I say that hasn’t been said before? The chips were some of the worst I’ve ever tasted. However, the cod was well battered. Not too much and not too little. Almost Teriyaki style which I was quite happy about, although the fish did fall apart rather too easily, which I was not impressed with.

We went for fish and chips , haddock and large chips ,a battered sausage, and plain chips with curry sauce.

A very small portion of chips for £2.80; but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as they were tired to the point of being almost inedible.

We never actually got around to trying the food. Me and my husband sat down, he saw people were queueing up by the till so thought he'd go up to order, to which he was told very rudely "wait" and "I will come to your table". The man at the till kept walking by our table, making eye contact many times, but he never came to our table knowing full well we were waiting. We ended up walking out and eating at Smokey's next door.

I've never written a bad review before, I prefer not to but the owner of this establishment needs a huge kick up the arse for being so greedy that they will charge extortionate prices for the absolute worst quality food I have ever eaten.

Was very expensive for the quality of food served. The cod was tasteless and small, had too many bones and the batter was rock hard and disgusting. The chips were better than the fish, but they were oven chips. They didn’t even have ketchup bottles on the counter and did not offer a bag for our takeaway. Huge disappointment to remember Brighton by. There’s nothing traditional about this place.

just picked this restaurant at random as we waled past we were a group of 4. Fish was huge batter was crispy loads of chips all freshly cooked with Mushy peas staff were very friendly ,nice clean cafe

We'd just had a great flight on the I360. We then had planned to get fish and chips for lunch. Unfortuantely we didin't look this fish and chip shop up!! It was really bad; Chips reheated!, heaps of bones in the fish!, gristle in the sausage! and expensive!

We spent the bank holiday weekend in Brighton and having never been there before, thought to try out a local chippy! An exceptionally friendly lady served us and this was my first interaction with the hospitality the town is so renowned for. The fish and chips were very reasonably priced for a seaside resort so bustling with bank holiday getaways and the quality was great too. The cod was hot and fresh with the batter a great consistency - very tasty. As for the location, directly overlooking the BA i360 and the sea, I could not have been more pleased to run into this place! Thank you.

Do not go here. The fish was overcooked dried out, tiny, and had more bones than the natural history museum. The chips were frozen oven chips deep fried and dry. They charged £10.45 for this crap. The guy was rude and no attempt made to do anything. The owner was aparantly not available. We told other potential customers who left so Karma applied but this kind of place gives Brighton a bad name. They dont care as they just rip the visitors. Every other place we have been was value for money hapily but this needs a wide berth to avoid.

Avoid at all costs ! The pastry on the pie was so hard and the chips were horrid! Server was rude and abrupt!

Why can’t you start serving fresh and tasty fish and chips?? You are in the perfect location for this. But sadly all I get is stale fish and chips. Give the manager a wake up call please!!!

I spent $30 American money here because I really wanted fish and chips. All I ordered was the cod and chips (fries) and a small Hawaiian pizza. The pizza had crust that was so hard I could knock on the wall with it. If you’re looking to buy a flavored dog toy, it would definitely make a good frisbee. The ham wasn’t even real! It was some nasty sliced rubbery gick!

We all went for the traditional fish and chips 12.99 it came on a side plate and looked like a child’s portion!

This will remind me to jump on trip advisor - even if just getting myself a bag of chips.

What to eat for lunch when in Brighton? Fish and chips of course! But don't come here! We decided to eat in as a group of 8. Our meals took 30 minutes to arrive, and when they did they were as pairs with 5 minutes in between each pair! I wouldn't normally mind about the wait, but when my pie, battererd sausage and chips arrived, the pie was like cardboard, the batter on the sausage was crumbly and the chips were cold oven chips. All this after paying a huge premium to sit inside

I was staying in the hotel nearby for comic con. I visited this establishment. staff were nice. food was decent enough for quick food, chipper on the go food. overall alright place

Stopped off along seafront after visit into town centre and this is clearly what this establishment relies on. Extortionate cost for a portion of basic frozen oven chips, flashed fried to heat through. Worst chips ever had From a chippy, traditional they are not. Avoid, not worth the calories to walk up to the counter!!

Brighton is not known for fish and chips, but this place next to The Hilton really is the pits. Catering frozen chips, served soggy. Frozen fish. £7.30 too. Angry I was persuaded to eat here.

We grabbed our tea from here to eat whilst watching the world go by on the beach, they were actually very tasty, we actually went back several times during our stay at Brighton. do give this chip shop a try the battered cod was really lovely.

If you do not like food or yourself. I would rather munch a tramps dirty pants than face another plate of the food served here.
