I was last here 25 years ago, and I have to say that yesterday's visit was fairly disappointing. The car park has room for around 40 cars and access is good. Paths are well maintained and there are a few benches and a good number of spots to sit for a picnic. Generally visitors seemed to be taking their rubbish away responsibly. It is promoted as containing rare chalk grassland species. However, the entire area which we walked on was almost entirely overgrown with dense tussocks of coarse grasses, thistles and plantains. The only obvious chalk grassland species visible was crosswort. There are cultivated fields uphill to the North and East which are probably fertilized and leaching nutrients onto the reserve. The only saving grace was the bird life. We saw a good number of meadow pipits, linnets and yellowhammers. We said that we would give it one last chance in about a month's time, so I will edit this review then...

Unbelievable just how bad this was. One waiter trying very hard to do it all, but it took almost an hour to even get our starters. The starter was the much advertised and praised (oh yeah?) smoked haddock souffle. Which I suspect was a pre cooked topping of whisked egg, plonked on top on some smoked haddock with a spinach base, so not a souffle at all. Surrounded by a far too highly spiced sauce that did not complement the 'souffle'. Awful. Then another long wait for the mains. I had fish and chips my husband the hake. Both mediocre. As these are the new owners after new owners who never lived up to the previous owners, I would hope things will improve. They need to stop trying to produce 'fine-dining' that they cannot achieve and concentrate on well cooked pub food. I'll give it a year before we return and hope for the best. The pub has been fitted out nicely, shame no local photos and pictures have still not been reinstated. The waiter was excellent, but even with the reduced number of diners but him running the bar too, more staff are needed,

We've been talking about trying Beefeater for over a year and as we drove past we decided to try them for a late lunch. The server was friendly and attentive. The good delivery was a little slow and while it wasn't bad it was nothing to write home about. Can't say it was memorable enough to return.

Me and my two sisters had a lovely lunch here. The food was exquisite with generous portion sizes and gorgeous views. The service was attentive and the ambience in the pub quaint and homely with a roaring fire (which was needed that day in chilly early May). Comfortable seating and great music. I would highly recommend this place and we will return some day soon.

Just want to say how great Scott, (who i believe is a relief manager) is. I made a massive mistake in booking the wrong hotel in Tenterden; totally my own fault; and Scott was so helpful in sorting out some accommodation for us. He is also an excellent barman who is very quick and efficient with an excellent memory for all the orders taken. and he could not have been more helpful.

We went for Sunday lunch on Mothers' Day. Booking was easy, we were welcomed and wished Happy Mothers' day. Service was very quick, we had carvery which was superb. Turkey which melted in the mouth and every vegetable known to man and all cooked superbly. Dessert was apple and rhubarb crumble which was really lovely, not blisteringly hot so not microwaved custard. The staff said goodbye as we left and although they were very busy, it was a lovely experience and run very well indeed. We will definitely go backl

This is a very eclectically decorated pub, not for everyone’s taste but have to say I was very disappointed with the food, it reminded me of a caravan camp site diner. The menus were laminated, a choice of 6 or 7 main dishes ( no starters) everything served with chips, my deep fried chicken was ok but the chips were greasy and the pulled pork was dry with no sauce. Needless to say the pub was empty on a Saturday night. ☹️

We attended Eastwell Manor for Sunday Lunch but because of the lack of trained staff and the bad management, we had an awful time. We were left waiting for 30 minutes before someone came to take our drinks order. There were about 15 different gins and 10 vodkas on the menu and we ordered a Hendricks and tonic. 20 minutes later, the waitress came back to tell me that they didn't have that Gin. I asked which ones they had and off she went again for another 10 minutes. When she returned, she said there was only 1 gin available. I then asked about the vodkas and once again she disappeared for about 5 minutes and returned to tell me that they only had 2 vodkas available. We felt very sorry for her as obviously this was not her fault but the fault of the manager. Why were the staff not informed at the beginning of their shift what items were unavailable. Common sense really!! We were informed that we would need to order our dessert at the same time as our starter and main course or we would wait "hours" Our roast dinners arrived and there was no horseradish or mustard or any other sauces available. I asked the man who brought our dinners for another drink and he told me I had to catch someone's eye as he couldn't take orders for drinks. When you actually managed to speak to anyone, they were very pleasant and we felt very sorry for them having to work in these conditions. There were complaints from many other people also. The lunch dragged on and I was glad when it was over- move over Basil Fawlty. is the restaurant closing down? That would explain why there was such a poor menu. The food itself was wonderful. What a shame that the management aren't!

We are a group of 7 who visited your pub yesterday evening having looked at your website that stated you were doing food from the 14th April. Unfortunately on arrival we were advised the kitchen was closed. Surely a note on your website, a chalk board outside, or a note on your door would have avoided disappointment

Great atmosphere and top-quality food and drink, all served surprisingly quickly. I went in hungry and left completely satisfied — all three of us (me, my partner, and our son) ate well for just £30. Can’t complain at all — brilliant value and an all-round great experience.
