Newly refurbed. Amazing Sunday roast, one if the best pub roasts had for a long time. Medium is huge, Large is unreal. Size often used to compromise for poor quality - not here. REALLY tasty and good quality. Friendly & attentive staff, great decor and atmosphere.

Great little pub. They clearly care about their homemade food, like their ice cream. They were nice to our daughter and they went out of their way to make me a slightly unusual mocktail.

Beautiful pub, very tasteful with decoration and lots of seating areas. This is the best lunch we have had out in a long time. Choice for meal size with roast six types of vegetables and meat so tender. Service really good and attentive, just need more space around tables please for staff, prams and wheelchairs. Definitely will return and have recommend to friends and family already

Inviting atmosphere, beautifully decorated and styled pub from front to back, lovely little courtyard garden too. Second time having food here, friendly staff who are very hard working and make the whole restaurant run smoothly. Excellent food, all made on premise or locally sourced, and you can tell in the taste. Great specials which change regularly and seasonally. Vegetarian options available in main menu and specials. Need to try these but the in-laws have tasted and approved of these. Would recommend to anyone, it’s a delight!

I cannot recommend The Woolpack highly enough for larger parties. We came as a staff of 25 for our Christmas meal in December and loved it so much that we booked for a staff training day in March. Leanne, Sharon and the team were absolutely brilliant- so attentive and accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or service. We had freshly baked croissants in the morning and the lunch was spectacular!! Just look at the photos!! There were about 30 of us and everyone loved it!! They made such a huge effort to accommodate all dietary requirements and the quality and quantity of food could not be faulted. Obviously, we took our opportunity to book again for our next staff training day!! Thanks so much to The Woolpack Team!

. From the greeting to the goodbye the Landlady and her staff are lovely and were so kind. I have multiple food allergies and some are nigh on impossible for a pub/restaurant to avoid (I'm allergic to potatoes/starch!!) The Landlady (Molly? So sorry if your name is not correct) was totally game to try and accommodate and came up with an ingenious work around, thank you so much for taking the trouble to include me. My family's food was sumptuous and judging by the clean plates (including fussy teen) everyone enjoyed their meals. The restaurant and bar was busy (recommend booking - we did) sadly some people came without booking and were disappointed. Always a good sign when the locals are eating there (I met a delightful couple from the village who were regular diners there) and my assistance dog Suki was welcomed and accommodated as were several other (well behaved) pooches, meaning there's no need to leave your best friend at home. I've been to the Woolpack before and been underwhelmed, this time, in my opinion down to the new owners, was so good that I've already recommended to friends and family as a place to visit. If you have food allergies or special requirements I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment. I felt very confident that they were taking my wellbeing seriously. Reasonably priced, lovely location, great staff and excellent food, what's not to love! I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

Lunch with friends, have not been in since the refurbishment and was pleasantly surprised at what has been done. Showan to our table, offered drinks and given menus. Ordered the 4 meals and 15 minutes later it all arrived with very pleasant staff. The quality of the roast was 1st class and I loved the idea of being able to order different portion sizes. Puds, well needed I say more all 4 were fantastic. Price is respectable for the type of establishment. We shall definitely be back for more. Great staff all round.

Popped in to the Woolpack for the first time since reopening and what a horrible sight it was to see the changes that the brewery and managers have implemented. The bar area looks awful, no character and old traditional features that have been part of the place for decades if not centuries have been ripped away / covered up and replaced with bland, unfinished painting and structures that look so out of place. I have only rated the pub poor and not terrible in the hope that they reintroduce bar stools for locals, leave room to 'prop' the bar up for locals and move dining tables away from the bar drinking area. I shall be in again to check. Additionally, where has all the seating gone to outside. The place should not have opened in this state and I'm aware has already lost a great deal of local custom and support. Come on Sheps - you can do better than this. Don't allow this famous inn to become some trendy, out of place establishment that is a local pub in name only. It's the worst I've seen it in my 40 years of drinking there and my old relatives would turn in their graves knowing what it has become at present. I'd certainly like all the old Chilham copper artefacts that my family have donated over the years to be returned if no longer on show or wanted. It looked terrible, felt awful and was a real disappointment to us all. Time will tell but I don't hold out much hope. Always the White Horse I guess!!

We booked for my partner's 40th birthday lunch last week. After a warm welcome we were taken to the dining area in this wonderfully historic inn. I had steak & kidney pudding and he had the slow cooked beef stew. Both came with creamy mash and buttered carrots and green beans. My pudding also came with a delicious gravy which was full of flavour. The meat was lean and tender and the suet crust was perfect. My OH's stew was equally delicious although he found the herby dumpling rather salty. All in all a real home cooked lunch bursting with flavour. We were too full to order dessert but we'll have something lighter next time and save some room. Highly recommended!!

After a visit to nearby Leeds Castle we used the Woolpack as our base. Extended family of 10 for an over night stay. The pub with guest rooms dates back to the 1400's but has been refurbished to a high standard. On arrival we were given a family room which did unfortunately smell very musty. Seemed to be due to lack of recent use and lack of ventilation, but the Manager was brilliant and offered another family room, no hassle. The other room was lovely, large, clean and warm. Overall rooms are very cosy and well furnished. If I was to be picky they are tired in places (another one of the rooms had mould on a wall) but for an old place they were ok. Pub was friendly with some great local ales. Restaurant was very nice, food great and service attentive. Perfect for a day or two stop over. The kitchen were able to adjust several meals for Vegan etc, so no complaints.

We enjoyed our meal , but there was not much of it. Our first course arrived minus the sourdough bread. When we asked about the bread we received an apology, and were given sliced brown bread. We complained to the waitress, that although we enjoyed the food it left us wanting more, as the portion for the main meal was small. The waitress said that she would tell the chef. When leaving and paying the bill to the same waitress, she did not give us any feedback. We can only assume that the chef or manager did not care.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this pub and restaurant, I like it very much, but personally preferred the White Horse on Chilham Square. I suggest you visit both pubs and make up your own mind!

We came across this Inn by chance and stayed for lunch. I had the Chicken and Ham pie with mash and loved it. The best pie ever for quality in terms of taste, filling, quantity and presentation. The Cod and Chips that my wife had looked excellent as well. I was hoping that she might not be able to finish it, but no such luck!

My husband and I had a delightful dinner in this lovely pub. We had the warm winder superfood salad to share with grilled halloumi and then I had the duo duck with cherries while my husband ordered the Kentish Blue Burger. The food was delicious and full of flavours. The pub uses fresh farm produce so everything has fantastic taste. Stop by if you happen to be passing through this beautiful village.

Thought we'd try again, as we do each year and had to sit near the poorly designed doorway where everyone has to shove by the seats and those standing at the bar (a space of approx 12 inches). Not only that, one of the locals had the habit of greeting everyone he knew with the friendly phrase "how the F##K are you?" at the top of his vioce. Compared to the 'White Horse' at the top of the hill this place has no atmosphere whatsoever and is frequently empty when the other is full.

We were really lucky to stroll in on a Sunday and get a table. Albeit a quick turn around we were grateful to be seated. The food was delicious, and the staff really friendly. Then headed to Shelley’s Tea Rooms for desert! Lovely!

Normally I would feel aggrieved at tipping over the £10 mark for Ham, Egg and Chips. But when the Ham is so thick and delicious, the chips are multi fried to perfection, the eggs are beautifully cooked Burford Browns, dribbling yokey goodness, how can I complain. My ONLY concern was the lack of choice over the ales on tap. A lovely stop over on a long walk and one which made me want to stay! The rest of the menu also looked great and my walking pal enjoyed a lovely Rabbit Pie.

The food here is consistently excellent. The staff are friendly and the Sheps beer is kept well. By the large fire in the bar is a nice place to settle down in the winter and the beer garden perfect for a summer afternoon drink/meal

Visited the Woolpack Inn just over two weeks ago. Have been here on many an occasion. The atmosphere is very friendly in this family run hotel/restaurant. The food quality is excellent. I tend to stick to my favourite “The Woolpack Pie” they are absolutely excellent. My wife went for a fish dish and was not disappointed. We decided not to take a starter so that we had room for a dessert. To die for. We will definitely be back

Booked a table for dinner Sunday evening. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the bar for pre dinner drinks. Good selection on the menu and attentive and helpful staff. Food arrived nice and hot, good quality too. Possibly the best pork I've had in years.

Ate here for the first time last night, the dining area was beautifully decorated for Christmas, it felt very cosy and festive! Tried the Beef and Christmas ale pie (a whole individual pie I must add...in shortcrust pastry - this constitutes a proper pie in my opinion!)...absolutely delicious, with lovely smooth mash and tasty vegetables (which are often a let down on a plate) and plenty of gravy! Great portion size, 10 out of 10! Had to try the shortcrust apple pie for dessert, again made on the premises, a whole individual pie that I had to share, again delicious! A lovely bottle of Malbec to accompany, and all very reasonably priced I thought. Plus excellent service, a very personable waiter. Will be back!

I often visit this pub, but mostly for a drink. This time we stopped for lunch in the bar area. It was fine, but we thought all the food was very bland. The bread (of which there was too much) had texture but very little taste and the soup (of which there was a small bowlful) definitely needed something else. I would have liked proper salt and pepper grinders on the table, rather than those very old shakers which look as if they've been there since WW2. Lastly, when the bread and olives starter also came with a huge amount of bread (mostly white), a very small amount of (again, bland) hummus - although the nice lady very kindly got us some more when I mentioned this - and olive oil mixed with vinegar to dip the bread in. Why does anyone think vinegar is appropriate here? Bread should be dipped only in good, strong olive oil, which has a taste of its own. Believe it; there are specialist olive oil tastings, just like wine! So, to summarise: lovely pub, great front of house staff. They just need to get their flavours punchier, provide proper salt & pepper grinders on all the tables, and think about their portions (too much bread; too little soup and hummus).

Tasty fish cakes with salad, and a side of nicely cooked chips. Very good. Husband had ham, egg and chips. Excellent ham and very fresh eggs. Fine for a hearty lunch, but it's not fine dining. Reasonable price, but not amazing service from the two pleasant young men at the bar! Some training needed perhaps.
