Would give 10 stars if I could! The building and grounds were beautiful but what really set this place apart, were it's caring and attentive staff. After months of struggling to find a pub with this exact feeling and buzz, the flying horse has ticked all our boxes. 5/5

The people 'running' this place don't deserve the opportunity they've been given to operate what could and used to be, a first class welcoming English country pub in an enviable setting ! Very long wait just for (overpriced, (eg £3 lime & soda !) drinks in the garden which when they did arrive were incorrect & with the staff pretty clueless, not helped by quite an arrogant 'manager' telling people off for not adhering to his, (incorrect) version of covid rules on numbers seated. As soon as there is a change of ownership the better as I, like many I should think, will not be returning until everything starts to improve.

Has this place changed hands?? After having a lovely meal for my wife's birthday pre-pandemic lockdowns, we thought we would return with friends now that restrictions are easing. Booked a table for 6 several days in advance for 7:30pm. Should have noticed the red flags as soon as we arrived. We had to wait while they had to arrange the tables to seat 6 of us. No-one offered a drink while we were waiting. When the somewhat already limited menus arrived, we were told several items were not available. Should have walked away then but we persevered. Our starters took a fair while to appear, but then we waited over an hour for our main courses.which eventually arrived after 9pm, and when they did, one of our party's meal (the Sea Bass) was in inedible. It was lukewarm and under cooked. So put off was he, he refused to eat anything else. The rest of our meals were adequate at best. Our comments and complaints were met with total indifference. We were finally offered dessert around 10:15 which we all declined as it was way too late. The final straw was the staff made it sound that thet were doing us a favour by removing the inedible meal from the bill!! WON'T be returning.

Almost a two hour wait for our main course which , when it arrived was at best luke warm. I could not eat it - sent it back. The others in our party ate their's but not impressed. Little, almost no apology for lack of service or poor food. Would never recommend!

Came in for dinner, the burger I ordered came out warmish and looked like it had just been thrown on the plate, nobody came to check back on us until we were finished and even then walked away with our plates before we could say anything. Waited 25 minutes for someone to come back and get us the bill. Poor experience all round, will not be back

Popped on for a drink as staff were preparing "Eaton Tidy", soon to be on the menu. As can be seen we thought it was so bad we had to eat it all. Good selection of ales for the boys as the girls made this mess.

Three of us had a takeaway meal each. Two fish and chips looked, and reportedly were, very good. I had the pie, chips and vegetables. The pie was black around the edges, well overcooked, and with hard pastry. It should not have been served. The vegetables were undercooked and hard. However, the chips were first class.

Have used this pub for years, but something tells me it now needs a shake up. Burger kitchen, not sure about this, its supposed to be a country pub.....medival at that....chips not to my liking. Beer garden has started to look a mess, abandoned appliance just sitting there. No umbrellas the whole summer, it was scorching up there sometimes. Gardens at front of pub, shabby. Will go back, but would just like to see some thought, time and effort put in.....please take this in the spirit it is given FH, just want to see it be a go to pub, like it always as been.

We stayed for one night in a motorhome in the paddock area to the rear of the property. Stunning location but the entrance to the paddock was a little tight - so beware. The restaurant area was clean. Covid safeguards well planned. The food was great. It’s so nice to have proper home cooked chips - same for coleslaw, onion rings and burger.I have a thing about eating out and the restaurants can’t even be bothered to cook their own chips! Not in this case though. Service all fine.

Nice food but glad it was half price for eat out to help out because I wouldn’t have been happy paying full price to sit in that dirty pub. Young blonde waitress was nice, but the place needs a scrub ! You have been closed during COVID why is it not clean? Furniture is all mismatched looks awful, chairs with holes in, garden just has loads of rubbish in. Used to be so nice here but new owners have ruined it. Now only a burger restaurant so rubbish menu too. Won’t be coming back.

I complained to the manager who read and ignored my complaint. Congratulations you have lost my business. My family has had many meals at the flying horse but you have lost that business too and I'm sure knock on business from word of mouth of your foul, rude chef. Not a professional way to handle a complaint. A simple sorry, we will look into this would of sufficed.update.. After spending the weekend in Kent, living in the area 37 years ago, nothing had changed. The Flying Horse was always a favourite so we decided to visit and have Sunday lunch after a long walk over Wye Downs. Different owners now but the food is fantastic. So fantastic roast, the lamb was melt in the mouth amazing, huge Yorkshire puddings, very friendly staff and amazing pub. What more can I say.

Came for a mid week meal and was really nice. Burgers were big and tasty, fantastic ‘real pub’ style chips and a generous portion of oniony coleslaw- perfect. They did a smaller version for the children too which they ate all of. Money off on the eat out scheme made it a perfect mid week treat. We’d definitely return again. Also, it was raining when we went, but plenty of space inside with tables far enough apart.

£13 for a burnt and tasteless burger. We would have said something but the staff were too busy singing and talking about their weekend plans to check if everything was okay. The waitresses were actually quite childish, unprofessional and loud - really not what you want when trying to enjoy a meal and all you can hear is them. Also, IMO if you are going to make your whole menu burgers, then you need to make sure it’s the best burger for a country mile. Not a bang average, burnt and tasteless one. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Service poor! Very disorganised and food whilst sounding great on the menu was not particularly good. Food brought to table no cutlery! Desert brought to table and then asked "would you like a spoon". there was no other way to eat this desert than with a spoon! Some great ideas with the food combinations but more training organisation would make this a much better experience. Finally, something to bear in mind is they are only preparing burgers and not a vast range of food from a complex menu!

As a family we go out probably every couple of months to eat. This place has been one of our favourites, including birthday dinners with friends. My daughter I ordered the ‘ Moules mariniere’. Which when received had a good quarter of unopened shells and hardly any mussels in the bowl. We are not ones for complaining but when asked if the meal was satisfactory we did point this out. No explanation was given so I then asked why this could have been. After talking with the chef, his reply being there was no mussels left in his pan, my daughter was left, still feeling hungry.I can honestly say that I have never experienced such ‘ couldn’t care less attitude by the catering staff itself and at the end of the day, management too’We have a birthday celebration coming up in 2 weeks, where last year, we celebrated it here, this year, we will not !

De pub round the corner. Beter zelf koken of ergens anders eten.

Starters took 45 minutes to arrive (Garlic bread, salt chips, stuffed potato skins) all rather disappointing and when I was stil eating the waitress wanted to clear the table. Another long wait for our main courses, gammon ham - burned and fatty, chicken burger - overcooked and dry, ham, egg n chips OK burger n chips OK but the pulled pork could not be pulled, torn or hacked into with a sharp knife, this was returned and promised that another was just being prepared. Everyone had finished by the time the dish was served but again it was not edible, the waitress just cleared the table no apology for the spoint meal. A sister pub of the Tickled Trout at Wye with service and menu to match. Lovelly lunchtime snack over a beer.

Stopped off at the pub during a Sunday walk on the North Downs Way. The bar and waiting staff were very welcoming and friendly. There are a good range of beers, ciders and wines on offer and the food was superb. Service was swift and nothing seemed to be too much trouble, despite them being quite busy.

The Flying horse is a nice pub in a nice village. It's on the North Downs Way and we were there for lunch halfway through our walk.

Had the pleasure of staying here with my husband for a couple of nights while visiting Ashford and Dover. Really helpful and friendly staff. The room was lovely with all the comforts and a gorgeous en-suite. Enjoyed delicious food in the beer garden. Good value for money too.

We stopped at the flying horse for an overnight stay in our campervan. We had lunch and drinks on the Saturday and Sunday lunch. Food was absolutely delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the paddock at the rear where we were allowed to park up was spacious, private and quiet. The flying horse gave us a first class experience and we will definitely be visiting again when we travel down Kent way. Thanks all.

2 voksne damer som vandret The Pilgrims Way.

Fancy stopping for a beverage or tasty snack whilst on route, then enjoy a break at this pub. Situated opposite a village cricket green makes it a picturesque spot, and dog friendly

Stayed here for one night with my family on the way to Eurotunnel, brilliant location as only 15 mins away from the Folkstone station. Great service at the bar with a wide range of beers, wines and spirits (especially Gin!). Hosts were on hand to greet us and showed us to our rooms which were well appointed with excellent facilities. Food in the restaurant was very good indeed, we had the Sunday lunch. Highly recommend this venue for drinks, food, overnight stay or even a function as it has a large garden and a separate back bar. Look forward to visiting again.

Last night we had another great meal at the Flying Horse. I had the steak and kidney pudding with veg, chunky chips and gravy - it was delicious. The portion sizes are very generous. The rest of our party had ribs, belly pork and a burger, everyone enjoyed their meal and we thought it was great value for money.

Found this place by accident-I live in Perth and decided to drive my creaking mk2 Jag to the Le mans classic in July. we needed somewhere not too far from the chunnel ,(11.5 miles) , but did not want to park the old girl outside a Travelodge and watch the local neds try to remove the bonnet mascot....

Popped in today after watching the cricket on the green. All ok apart from the bar staff very surly need to put a smile on their faces. One chap came in with his daughter after a kids party waited to be served for 10 minutes (it wasn’t busy) and left said let’s try somewhere else. Shame....

Stayed here because allow camper vans to stay overnight if you eat there. Paddock for van was lovely. Meal was great value. Good choice and we really over shot not realising the portion size to come. This did not affect the quality, we enjoyed everything we had. Lovely friendly staff. Set in a very picturesque setting. Good range of drinks especially gins.

We stayed here on a trip back to Kent for the weekend (we used to live locally and knew this beautiful pub well from over previous years) The flying horse has always been a beautiful and quintessentially Kentish Inn with lots of history, character and an amazing beer garden also with fine views over the village green and cricket pitch. Now under new ownership Nicky and his family are really welcoming and friendly, so helpful too and the hospitality was beyond perfect! Also we really enjoyed our meals you could taste the great quality local produce (fish and chips, and gammon steak for dinner, perfectly cooked and great value with generous portions, then a lovely full English breakfast in the morning!). Our room was amazing, although you can still feel the history and atmosphere of this 17th century Inn it has been thoughtfully modernised and was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We didn’t want to leave when it was time to return home .... and we can’t wait to go back!

My fiance and I came here for some food and I must say it was perfect. The service was brilliant and the food was amazing. My fiance had the Mac 'n cheese (I know vegetarians are boring right) and I went for the Honey Jack Daniels ribs with a side of onion rings and we both truly enjoyed both of our meals. Didn't get to dessert as we were both stuffed but we will definitely be returning soon to try more.

e stayed here for one night in our motorhome. It was great as we were allowed to have a meal in the bar accompanied by our dog. There is an extensive menu which caters for all tastes, together with a good selection of wines.

This pub is within beautiful countryside and looks very inviting from the outside. Inside it was quite run down but it is an old building so that can be expected. Sat in the garden area, really peaceful. Staff were unhelpful and got the drink orders wrong. Lunch was very disappointing, ham, egg and chips is such a basic dish yet chips were very undercooked and the ham was full of fat. Cajun chicken consisted of 2 very overcooked chicken strips which were dry and again undercooked chips. Would not return again.
