Lovely pub in Wye,Kent with a garden that backs on to the river Stour. So good on a sunny and warm afternoon to sit next to the river and enjoy a couple of drinks and one of their delicious pizzas! The barman,Oliver was a chipper chap and was happy to answer any questions I had and made me feel welcome. I did look around the inside of the pub, very nicely laid out with a number of smaller areas to make dining more intimate rather than a large open area. There's a good selection of food from sandwiches through to full meals. A few different dishes make the menu interesting, not just the same old fare that you'll often find. There is a kids menu too! The pub is suitable for couples and families alike. The prices are moderate for both food and drinks, my pizza was £15 but was very good indeed and there is a choice of dips for your pizza crust included in the price. There is a car park, it's a bit cramped but you can park nearby. Wye railway station on the line between Ashford & Canterbury West is no more than a five minute walk away and trains are regular. The highlight area is most definitely the garden, just lovely, they do have live music in the garden too, check out their website for dates.

Visited after reading great reviews, however we left feeling disappointed. The setting was lovely on the river but that was all. The service was extremely slow, we waited an hour and a half for food, and had to chase twice. When the food arrived it was very basic, the chicken wraps were dry and the chicken and pork skewers at £22 tasted frozen. The portion was very small and definitely not worth it

Lovely venue and setting. Let down massively by the staff. We have visited several times in the last month and a majority of the staff are polite, efficient and friendly. Unfortunately at least two staff on each visit have been blunt, rude and unhelpful. On a busy Sunday we sat on one of the only free tables, which had a lot of empty plates on. The staff cleared 4 other (now empty) tables before they cleared the one with people on. They had to be asked twice (once for plates and once for glasses) before anything was cleared. When asking for the food menu (was due to change around 5pm on Sunday, which is completely understandable), we had 4 different answers which were all contradictory. When the food came the pizza topping was barely cooked but otherwise was fairly decent. Staff also tried moving us off an unreserved table with no option to sit anywhere else despite many other spare tables. Luckily a kind other couple offered up their table to be reserved. The venue and stream is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the reviews of this establishment.

Went for lunch and ordered the best Pork Belly in town and beyond! The cod and chip was very fresh but lacked a bit of acidity from lemon or vinegar. The starter wasn't worth it though. The place has a very nice quaint and homely atmosphere. Toilets were clean and there's a large garden by the River Stour. Ample parking but can get busy really quickly. We arrived 10 past 12 for lunch service and the parking lot was was full within minutes. Overall, was a pleasant experience and the service was great!

As a venue we love the Tickled Trout but had yet to experience a Sunday roast and, disappointingly, it didn’t meet our expectations. Table booked and between ordering and dinner arriving was 30 mins (we don’t mind this if is freshly cooked). We ordered the mixed roast at £29 each however, the menu stated “mange tout and pork crackling for all”, neither of which were on the meal when it arrived, nor were we advised on ordering that it wouldn’t be. The meal was small with a a half dessert spoonful of carrot and swede mash at best, 2 small roast potatoes and over cooked beef. We feel for value for money this is way below par and unfortunately will not be returning for a 2nd helping. We will note that although we was not advised of the shortfall concerning the menu, the hostess was pleasant and accommodating.

Finding it on the map was easy and we were pleased to find a decent sized car park, well looked after and clearly signposted. A gorgeous pub with a real cute, calm atmosphere and romantic vibe. Fairy lights and a low ambiance flatters the place and gives it a real cosy feel. Very clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were lovely and exceptionally accommodating, decent prices and lovley drinks. Clean toilets, large outdoor area with plenty of benches and again, gorgeous lighting. We did not eat on this occasion but saw the food was gorgeous and others said it was delicious! Would definitely recommend for a date night!

Service was bad. We had to wait a long time to order then it was almost an hour before the food arrived. We had focaccia while we were waiting and this was just 2 tiny pieces of bread for £4. Food not the cheapest 1 slice of crusty bread for £4 and i mean 1 slice. Will be a while before we return. Lovely setting, really atmospheric when the outside lights came on as it got dark. friendly bar staff good selection of gluten free options, good amount of parking. Pricing in line with current cost of produce so a little high for a standard plate of food but to be expected at this time. Downside was that they are clearly understaffed which had a knock on effect at the bar and slow service generally - bar staff cleared the tables and kitchen staff brought out the food. Thai green curry was nice but they should have cut off the ends of the mange tout and removed the stringy edge (spine) as this spoiled the dish which otherwise would have been perfect.

We’ve eaten at possibly every top rated place in Kent and always look for new local little gems so read the reviews and thought we’d try it. I booked lunch here for my husband’s birthday. I made them aware it was his birthday weeks before the day and when we arrived there was a charmless greeting and not one mention of it throughout which is disappointing since it is our first visit and we were made to feel as though we were just walking through the door for a pint and a packet of crisps. The food was mediocre (I only had a starter as didn’t rate it enough to order a main course and although the setting is really lovely and nice if you have a dog (we don’t) that’s all it had going for it so we won’t be back.

These stars are only for the location, otherwise nearly every experience here has been marred by things this pub repeatedly gets wrong. The setting is wonderful, and that's what we come for. If you choose simple things from the menu, you may be OK - sandwiches, fish and chips, burger and chips, nachos - but if you stray into more exotic realms expecting any understanding of flavour and culinary flair, prepare to be deeply disappointed. I've previously had a terrible 'Thai' curry, and today, foolishly, had the 'Sri Lankan' potato curry - which was disastrous. The potatoes were very underdone and the only discernable seasoning was chili. I rendered it vaguely edible by using onion from my companion's salad and a lot of salt. The sauce was just horrible. Does the 'chef' not taste their own food? My companion enjoyed their burger, but even as a Londoner used to high prices, she was baffled to be charged £6.95 for a lager shandy. She was also particularly put off firstly by the poor young chap in charge of allocating tables who clearly didn't have a clue what he was doing and his anxiety was contagious, but worse than that, the huge chalkboard with a detailed list of expected behaviours from the clientele - including requiring them to be fully clothed. Is there a lost tribe near Wye unused to civilization? Who are these half-naked loud sweary people making a bad experience worse? We hope and pray this pub changes hands and becomes less shambolic and over-priced. Previous visits with my partner down the years have taught us to generally be VERY careful what we order to eat, as the 'cuisine's' quality has zero consistency. The first time we went, my partner had steak and ale pie.... once he'd sawn through the bullet-proof crust, there was a hollow with a lone piece of inedible dessicated meat at the core... he threw the lot to the nearby trout, who flocked before fleeing from it. I had a perfectly pleasant wrap. Our second visit, I again had a wrap and my partner gambled on the pie having improved... it hadn't, and he once again set about tempting the fish with his fossilised pie, and they duly scarpered. It's criminal that such a lovely setting is let down by shockingly poor food. We'll probably be back to sit by the beautiful river and marvel at the birds and fishes... but it's sandwiches all the way, and chips, maybe chips, they do good chips.

Perfect location, Great atmosphere, great food and generous portions. If you have visitors then this is the local to bring them too. It will not disappoint nestled along side the river and right next to a train station. The team were very intentive and helpful. The food although on the expensive side was on par, fresh, local and of a high standard with great presentation. The only negative is the inclusion of a service charge put on reciepts. It really rattles me this does. It should never be automatically added to the bill for customers to be left in an awkward position feeling like they have their arms up their backs. The discretion and choice of a tip should always be left to the customer at the table and not pressured on a bill. If the owners feel their employees derseve more pay on top of the their minium wage they are more likely on then they themselves should pay them more instead of relying on the customer to show appreciation on top of what is already a fairly expensive menu. I will never encourage this sort of employer attitude. Just pay the right wages for the job including appreciation payments as incentives and not just pay them all minium wage or the leat you can. Would come again of course and would highly reccomend. Great place for the community.

The only thing I don't agree with is dogs are allow off lead, not everyone would appreciate whilst eating is a dog roaming around and of course safety of others and other dogs. Hugely disappointing. I took my inlaws who were visiting from Australia to this pretty country pub, it was my father in laws birthday and on past visits I have always had a pleasant delicious meal and experience but sadly not this time. We ordered amongst other items,2 x calamari and the steak pie, order taken and paid for. Shortly after we were informed no calamari so substituted for another selection, scampi and houlomi Food arrived and a scampi and 2 houlomi arrived, told they were replacement for the calamari. Waited further 5 min, no pie so enquired at bar and told there was no pie..apparently the staff should have told us and the scampi was the replacement...it was explained originally that scampi was for calamari!! By now everyone eating so a refund was given for pie...Told NO pie HERE IS THE KICKER AND MAIN REASON FOR REVIEW Whilst still eating two pies get delivered to adjacent table. We asked staff how the other customers have pies when we were told they had none available? Answer= they have just come out oven and were not fully cooked when our order went in!! 20 min previous!! How about first let us know there is pie, just not cooked yet and give the customer the option to wait. There excuse- you wanted to eat together.... At no point were we told the menu item was available, in fact we were told it was not available, and that was only after we did not recieve it and enquired after all other dishes arrived....when it fact it was in the oven. Terrible customer service , won't be recommending or reattending this now average establishment Shame

It was a typical British summer afternoon, and we only ordered drinks, including a refreshing local stout from an extensive range at the bar. They have a decent menu, which we will definitely choose from, when we next visit. We were seated at one of their many garden tables, literally on the banks of the stream, and were fortunate to see a number of medium sized brown trout in the clear water, which was only 2 to 3ft deep in places. The pub regularly hosts live music events to suit varied tastes.

Very lovely place to sit outside and have a drink but my daughter and her fiance had eaten at around 12. We got there at about 3 and their plates were still on the table. Hmmm

Great pub with a gorgeous garden with a river running through it. There was live music in the beer garden with a great atmosphere. They had a couple of staff who were there just to clear and run in the garden. Good fast service and well run.

Had some food in the garden For the prices charged the portions are really small Had a bbq chicken "small size" pizza which is meant to be a main course with a "portion" of chips costing £2 extra but these portions come in a small cup and had maximum of 20 tiny skin on chips clearly cooked from a frozen bag of chips! I get pubs need to cover their overheads but the food wasn't great value for money for the size of the portions The young barmaid didn't smile once & looked totally bored to be in there The river is lovely to sit by & is definitely the best feature of this village pub Overall very underwhelming

We booked last minute and they maanged to fit us in, we had to wait a few minutes on arrival but the bar is a nice area to wait and it waas only while they cleared the table ready for us, the service was good even though the pub was very busy, if it had not been so windy we would have eaten outside as the garden is right next to the river, the food was great and service was fast and friendly. I would highly recommend the beef and ale pie or the fish and chips but make sure you are hungry as they do not scrimp on the portions.

Extremely bad service . Arrived with my three year old and wanted to order him some food . The very rude young waitresses told me to get to the back of the line with others ordering beers . No flexibility and horrendously slow and inconsiderate.

We were there spontaneously after hiking. I would recommend parking your car in the car park at the train station (over the tracks). It's only a 1-minute walk. The outdoor area with the river and the beautiful trees is of course the highlight. It's a great place to sit and you can see a lot because there are a lot of guests. You have to order at the bar and give your table number - unusual, but it's ok for me. The service then brings the food to your table. The food was exceptionally good (bbq chicken burger). Very fresh and homemade. Served with really tasty fries and side dishes. The food and desserts of the other guests also looked mega. Accordingly, plus the location, is the price. It is high and tips are automatically added to the price. But OK for me too. It was very tasty. I recommend it to others! Dog friendly

The atmosphere turned horrible when the barman refused an elderly gentleman to be able to pay cash for 2 drinks saying it's card only!! I told him to put there drinks on my bill and I got.them for.the gentleman who was very grateful. It's sad in this day and age a simple rule could not be broken for an elderly couple!! They have lost mine and my partners custom and I would think also the elderly couple's custom also.

Me and my two sisters had a lovely lunch here. The food was exquisite with generous portion sizes and gorgeous views. The service was attentive and the ambience in the pub quaint and homely with a roaring fire (which was needed that day in chilly early May). Comfortable seating and great music. I would highly recommend this place and we will return some day soon.

We've been talking about trying Beefeater for over a year and as we drove past we decided to try them for a late lunch. The server was friendly and attentive. The good delivery was a little slow and while it wasn't bad it was nothing to write home about. Can't say it was memorable enough to return.

Unbelievable just how bad this was. One waiter trying very hard to do it all, but it took almost an hour to even get our starters. The starter was the much advertised and praised (oh yeah?) smoked haddock souffle. Which I suspect was a pre cooked topping of whisked egg, plonked on top on some smoked haddock with a spinach base, so not a souffle at all. Surrounded by a far too highly spiced sauce that did not complement the 'souffle'. Awful. Then another long wait for the mains. I had fish and chips my husband the hake. Both mediocre. As these are the new owners after new owners who never lived up to the previous owners, I would hope things will improve. They need to stop trying to produce 'fine-dining' that they cannot achieve and concentrate on well cooked pub food. I'll give it a year before we return and hope for the best. The pub has been fitted out nicely, shame no local photos and pictures have still not been reinstated. The waiter was excellent, but even with the reduced number of diners but him running the bar too, more staff are needed,

It was very early when we arrived. The service was good, the facilities were good, we did not have food but it smelt and looked delicious.
