We recently hosted our staff Christmas event at The Tickled Trout and it was a super experience. The pub exudes a cozy and warm atmosphere. The food was delicious, the staff were welcoming and attentive, ensuring we all felt right at home.

I visited The Tickled Trout to celebrate my birthday following a previous visit last year. The pub offers a wide/varied range of options on its menu. I opted for the pull pork and burger option which was absolutely delicious and was beautifully presented! I followed this with the banoffee dessert which was a wonderful conclusion to the meal! The staff were extremely welcoming when we arrived and were friendly and attentive throughout! I would highly recommend The Tickled Trout and would personally like to thank them for providing such a wonderful lunchtime experience!

Sunday lunch with my partner and daughter, we had booked and good job we did as it was really busy! Business is booming which is great to see. We were seated quickly, service was excellent, staff friendly and attentive, food was absolutely brilliant we had the pork belly and the chicken wrapped in Parma harm. Pudding we had jam roly poly and banoffee pie as they had sadly run out of crumble! Both lovely. Best meal we have had in ages, pricey but worth it.

Food here was lovely fantastic atmosphere service was good was a. little dissapointed after tipping the waitress £5 when I looked at the bill the had added a service charge which there not allowed to do in this country of £7 there was only 3 of us i understand sometime of party's of 6 and over when ur made aware but we wasn't and didn't see it mentioned at all in the menu an for just 3 of us bit naughty really. Food not the cheapest 1 slice of crusty bread for £4 and i mean 1 slice. Will be a while before we return. Shame but things like added service charge for us spoils it it's a choice in this country especially when food is so expensive already cod an chips £23 steak pie £25.

Experienced the Tickle Trouts roast dinner today, and happy to say its a solid choice for a Sunday dinner. Portion sizes could be more generous for the money. For £20, you'd expect more than 2 roast potatoes. But nevertheless, it all tastes nice. Bacon wrapped stuffing was delicious. Service was great, fast and attentive. Star of the pub is the location. Couldn't find a better beer garden in the local area.

Lovely setting, really atmospheric when the outside lights came on as it got dark. friendly bar staff good selection of gluten free options, good amount of parking. Pricing in line with current cost of produce so a little high for a standard plate of food but to be expected at this time. Downside was that they are clearly understaffed which had a knock on effect at the bar and slow service generally - bar staff cleared the tables and kitchen staff brought out the food. Thai green curry was nice but they should have cut off the ends of the mange tout and removed the stringy edge (spine) as this spoiled the dish which otherwise would have been perfect.

We’ve eaten at possibly every top rated place in Kent and always look for new local little gems so read the reviews and thought we’d try it. I booked lunch here for my husband’s birthday. I made them aware it was his birthday weeks before the day and when we arrived there was a charmless greeting and not one mention of it throughout which is disappointing since it is our first visit and we were made to feel as though we were just walking through the door for a pint and a packet of crisps. The food was mediocre (I only had a starter as didn’t rate it enough to order a main course and although the setting is really lovely and nice if you have a dog (we don’t) that’s all it had going for it so we won’t be back.

Told it was full inside. It never was but forced to eat in garden full of people who swore and smoked constantly despite children present. Many had dogs who pooed and peed amongst the diners. Food which ranges from £4 to £28 arrived after 1 hour 15 minutes, yes 75 minutes in three journeys (ever heard of a tray). It was tepid and soggy. Chef could not even cook an egg. Soggy mess of nachos. Awful

These stars are only for the location, otherwise nearly every experience here has been marred by things this pub repeatedly gets wrong. The setting is wonderful, and that's what we come for. If you choose simple things from the menu, you may be OK - sandwiches, fish and chips, burger and chips, nachos - but if you stray into more exotic realms expecting any understanding of flavour and culinary flair, prepare to be deeply disappointed. I've previously had a terrible 'Thai' curry, and today, foolishly, had the 'Sri Lankan' potato curry - which was disastrous. The potatoes were very underdone and the only discernable seasoning was chili. I rendered it vaguely edible by using onion from my companion's salad and a lot of salt. The sauce was just horrible. Does the 'chef' not taste their own food? My companion enjoyed their burger, but even as a Londoner used to high prices, she was baffled to be charged £6.95 for a lager shandy. She was also particularly put off firstly by the poor young chap in charge of allocating tables who clearly didn't have a clue what he was doing and his anxiety was contagious, but worse than that, the huge chalkboard with a detailed list of expected behaviours from the clientele - including requiring them to be fully clothed. Is there a lost tribe near Wye unused to civilization? Who are these half-naked loud sweary people making a bad experience worse? We hope and pray this pub changes hands and becomes less shambolic and over-priced. Previous visits with my partner down the years have taught us to generally be VERY careful what we order to eat, as the 'cuisine's' quality has zero consistency. The first time we went, my partner had steak and ale pie.... once he'd sawn through the bullet-proof crust, there was a hollow with a lone piece of inedible dessicated meat at the core... he threw the lot to the nearby trout, who flocked before fleeing from it. I had a perfectly pleasant wrap. Our second visit, I again had a wrap and my partner gambled on the pie having improved... it hadn't, and he once again set about tempting the fish with his fossilised pie, and they duly scarpered. It's criminal that such a lovely setting is let down by shockingly poor food. We'll probably be back to sit by the beautiful river and marvel at the birds and fishes... but it's sandwiches all the way, and chips, maybe chips, they do good chips.

Perfect location, Great atmosphere, great food and generous portions. If you have visitors then this is the local to bring them too. It will not disappoint nestled along side the river and right next to a train station. The team were very intentive and helpful. The food although on the expensive side was on par, fresh, local and of a high standard with great presentation. The only negative is the inclusion of a service charge put on reciepts. It really rattles me this does. It should never be automatically added to the bill for customers to be left in an awkward position feeling like they have their arms up their backs. The discretion and choice of a tip should always be left to the customer at the table and not pressured on a bill. If the owners feel their employees derseve more pay on top of the their minium wage they are more likely on then they themselves should pay them more instead of relying on the customer to show appreciation on top of what is already a fairly expensive menu. I will never encourage this sort of employer attitude. Just pay the right wages for the job including appreciation payments as incentives and not just pay them all minium wage or the leat you can. Would come again of course and would highly reccomend. Great place for the community.

Great dogs are welcome outside we have taken our little dog a couple of times on a lead at all times with his water and food. The only thing I don't agree with is dogs are allow off lead, not everyone would appreciate whilst eating is a dog roaming around and of course safety of others and other dogs. Please consider other dog owners and customers without a dog... Put a lead on your dog or leave it at home..

Hugely disappointing. I took my inlaws who were visiting from Australia to this pretty country pub, it was my father in laws birthday and on past visits I have always had a pleasant delicious meal and experience but sadly not this time. We ordered amongst other items,2 x calamari and the steak pie, order taken and paid for. Shortly after we were informed no calamari so substituted for another selection, scampi and houlomi Food arrived and a scampi and 2 houlomi arrived, told they were replacement for the calamari. Waited further 5 min, no pie so enquired at bar and told there was no pie..apparently the staff should have told us and the scampi was the replacement...it was explained originally that scampi was for calamari!! By now everyone eating so a refund was given for pie...Told NO pie HERE IS THE KICKER AND MAIN REASON FOR REVIEW Whilst still eating two pies get delivered to adjacent table. We asked staff how the other customers have pies when we were told they had none available? Answer= they have just come out oven and were not fully cooked when our order went in!! 20 min previous!! How about first let us know there is pie, just not cooked yet and give the customer the option to wait. There excuse- you wanted to eat together.... At no point were we told the menu item was available, in fact we were told it was not available, and that was only after we did not recieve it and enquired after all other dishes arrived....when it fact it was in the oven. Terrible customer service , won't be recommending or reattending this now average establishment Shame

Visited this lovely quiet country pub located on the banks of the Great Stour stream. It was a typical British summer afternoon, and we only ordered drinks, including a refreshing local stout from an extensive range at the bar. They have a decent menu, which we will definitely choose from, when we next visit. We were seated at one of their many garden tables, literally on the banks of the stream, and were fortunate to see a number of medium sized brown trout in the clear water, which was only 2 to 3ft deep in places. The pub regularly hosts live music events to suit varied tastes.

We were there spontaneously after hiking. I would recommend parking your car in the car park at the train station (over the tracks). It's only a 1-minute walk. The outdoor area with the river and the beautiful trees is of course the highlight. It's a great place to sit and you can see a lot because there are a lot of guests. You have to order at the bar and give your table number - unusual, but it's ok for me. The service then brings the food to your table. The food was exceptionally good (bbq chicken burger). Very fresh and homemade. Served with really tasty fries and side dishes. The food and desserts of the other guests also looked mega. Accordingly, plus the location, is the price. It is high and tips are automatically added to the price. But OK for me too. It was very tasty. I recommend it to others! Dog friendly

Certainly! Here’s a crafted review for the Trickled Trout Pub: A Toast to the Trickled Trout: Where Every Pint Tells a Story Tucked away in the quaint streets of our town, the Trickled Trout Pub is a treasure trove of local lore and liquid luxury. It’s a place where the beer flows as freely as the conversations, and every visit feels like a homecoming. As I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped by an atmosphere rich with history and character. The walls, lined with vintage fishing gear and photos of patrons past, tell the story of a community gathered over pints and tales.

Tables were covered in previous diners food. You order and pay at the bar and a service charge is automatically added (so don’t add a tip - the service isn’t worth paying twice for). Only a fraction of the dirty plates and cutlery were removed when the food was delivered (assumed they would come back for the other plates dirty napkins spilt food etc but they didn’t). If you’re going to charge £25 for an overcooked tasteless under-seasoned and stodgy Paella (plus a compulsory service charge) then some standard of cleanliness would be nice.

Disappointing visit to the pub this afternoon. Googled it before our 40 minute drive there, and was expecting food and the bar to be opened till 9pm. Arrived @ 5.45 ordered two drinks, asked for the food menu, but told the kitchen was closed! Then halfway through our drink, told it was last orders now, and that if we wanted another drink we should order it soon..... I questioned "what was there official closing time?" And told that it was closing as not busy?!? There was at least ten people in there, surely information like this should be on their website, rather than customers travelling there to be disappointed. Also another couple came in and were served drinks and not told about the imminent closing. Not a place I will be visiting again, and I would suggest they update their website with correct information on what actually is available and with correct opening and closing times. Any couple told us about another local pub "The flying horse" where we enjoyed a lovely drink, wonderful atmosphere and still open when we left!!!

Calm and relaxed atmosphere with a nice fire burning. People minding their own business with no one being loud. There is a good selection of drinks and snacks. The service was very good but less stars as the food wasn't brilliant. My wife and I had a toasted ciabatta each, and they were supposed to be toasted. They were not at all. I had the fish finger ciabatta, which was supposed to come with (as the menu states) chunky tartare sauce. It was more like a thin spreading and definitely not chunky, i couldnt taste any in it either. The only reason i knew it was in there was because i looked. I really like this pub, especially in the summer, but this time round the food let it down. I will be back and I hope they improve.

Lovely homely atmosphere as soon as we entered the pub. We were welcomed with a warm greeting by the manager and all staff who served us were friendly! We enjoyed sharing the halloumi fries for a starter and our mains were the The Hot Bird pizza & the lemon chicken linguine, both were delicious 😋

Staff (and patrons) are lovely and polite and friendly, and is a lovely spot for sitting out on a nice day. My only complaint was that the green Thai curry looked fantastic but was bland. Green Thai curry is the spiciest of the Thai curries, but this one couldn't be described as spicy at all. Couldn't detect lemongrass, ginger, galangal, chilli, kaffir lime leaves or any of the usual flavour hits. Plus it was rather too oily and thick. I will come back and try other dishes though, as I get the impression that people here really care, so maybe the GTC was just not to my taste.

Quiet even when full mid-afternoon on a spring Sunday. We'd walked up from Canterbury & had arrived too late (3pm) for the café so waddled along to the Tickled Trout (or Fondled Fish as we knew it in my teens) to see what, if anything, they could do for us. Even at that point they were very busy but found a corner & produced a pair of lovely roasts. Service was efficient & friendly but never pushy. Main course & pud both lovely (weird interpretation of banoffee for me, very good, recommended.) We probably eat there once per year, usually on a Sunday, & it's consistently good.

Lovely pub, lovely food. Puddings pricy at £9 each so didn't have any however still got charged for four expresso & Two lattes we didn't have. Thought my wife had checked the bill so just paid it. Oh well lesson learned. So beware at Tickled Trout Wye, double check your bill

We had great expectations from the Tickled Trout. Lots of friends had spoken highly about it and we were really looking forward to our Sunday Roast. We decided to go for a Nut Roast and told the waitress that we were vegan. Of course we knew that there were some sides dishes that had milk, cheese or butter, but we thought, as we are in a pub that proud itslef for freshly made food, surely the Chef would be able to prepare some vegetable sides from scratch or give us more of the same stuff (as more potatos, broccoli, etc.. )! Instead, could have not been more wrong! Our £19 Sunday Roast plate came almost empty, with only the following: - The roast (which was actually good) - one single floret of Broccoli (one!) - 4 miniscule carrots - 6 green beens - 2 half potatos and one super small It was absolutely pitiful and I can't believe the Chef and any other member of the kitchen staff thought that it was an acceptable amount of food to serve to paying custumers. We felt second class and it was clear that no one couldn't be bothered to make something else. There was no love, no attention in that plate of food. No one came to ask how the food was. We left hungry and it ruined our Sunday!

Excellent lunch at The Tickled Trout today. Couldn't fault anything. And that was, without a doubt, the best fish pie I have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious!

First time here. They serve a decent pint and range of beers and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a homemade Steak & Ale pie which was very good. Karaoke was on so I went to the other end of the pub but the locals seemed to be having a good time.
