Me and my two sisters had a lovely lunch here. The food was exquisite with generous portion sizes and gorgeous views. The service was attentive and the ambience in the pub quaint and homely with a roaring fire (which was needed that day in chilly early May). Comfortable seating and great music. I would highly recommend this place and we will return some day soon.

We were lucky enough to hire The Five Bells for our wedding celebration. The whole team looked after us brilliantly and the day was literally perfect - they even managed to organise the sunshine for us! We've come to the pub many times over the last couple of years and we always get a great reception. Highly recommended.

Only ate here. Already worth it because of the location and the old pub. The food was perhaps a bit disappointing. The bread as a starter was a bit boring and the schnitzel with anchovies, capers and an egg on top was really fried too long or too hard. Shame. The hamburger with brisket was delicious.

My son and me go out for a driving lesson and breakfast every week and decided on the 5 bells for this trip. It was the best we have had so far, and will take some beating. Very good produce cooked well. Lovely location, good service. With a bit of brushing up on the barista side, this will be my go to place.

We visited the sister pub (The Woolpack) to The Five Bells Inn yesterday for Sunday lunch and were so impressed that we decided to visit this pub instead and it did not disappoint! All the food was delicious along with the attentive service generally - Chloe did a wonderful job of looking after us. A shame we don’t live nearby as we would definitely love to visit again. Thank-you!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Five Bells Inn and I must say it was an exceptional experience, especially their Sunday roast. If you’re searching for one of the best beef roasts in Kent, look no further! The beef was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor, accompanied by all the traditional trimmings that made the meal truly unforgettable. The atmosphere at the pub was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a Sunday gathering with family and friends. The friendly staff were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do, which added to the overall charm of the place. Whether you're a local or just passing through, the Five Bells Inn is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates a fantastic Sunday roast. Highly recommended! 🫶

What an amazing find! We were so lucky to choose here for dinner. The food was exquisite (restaurant standard not just pub grub) The welcome and service was genuinely warm and lovely. My husband enjoyed the expertise and range of bitters and ales at the pub. We live miles away but it was so good, it is worth the drive to come back again. You can also stay the night and there are beautiful walks nearby, which we would love to do.

The positives: reasonably good service and good pub atmosphere, dog friendly, delicious roast pork belly. The not-so-positives: my roast beef arrived less than lukewarm and not of any particular flavour, miniature portions of accompanying veggies: = easy to count the exactly 2 stringy beans and the single silver of carrot + 3 pieces of roast potato. ("extra veggie portion available at extra cost = £5?); In sum: expensive for what was actually on the plate - which seemed like very false economy as the cost of adding to the number and quality of string beans and slivers of carrot would be minimal. Providing flavour and heat to the roast beef would have been a bonus too.

The quality of the accomodation is second to none. Quirky rooms and very interesting to stay in. Great quality bed and room. Great attention to detail. Even complimentary port and fudge. The room wasn't too noisy as the pub is a high quality mainly food venue downstairs. After arrival we ventured downstairs. Very good quality food and not stupid prices. Breakfast clearly very high quality local fresh ingredients. Generous portions. Couldn't manage the yogurt and granola as well. Coffee very good also. Staff very friendly. Casper who served us breakfast very helpful and friendly.an asset to the pub! Will definitely go back

Menu not varied enough. Expensive unless you get pizza. Steak £36 10oz ribeye. Unless you go Wednesday for steak night where you get 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £50. Steak not the best quality on Steak night. Noticeable difference. 17/02/2025 Had fish and chips. Meal was below standard. Portions were small especially the chips. Plates dwarfed the chips. Child's portion. Wife had leek and potatoes soup. Too runny. Bread was warmer than the soup she remarked. Lovely pub but meal quality let it down

We stayed here last weekend as a stop off to our onward journey. When we arrived we were greeting by the lovely friendly bar staff whom were very helpful. Had a lovely roast beef Sunday lunch and the best fruit crumble I’ve ever tasted. We had a few drinks then was showed to our room, which was beautiful as soon as we walked through the door a lovely big bath was in the middle of the room, and a bed fit for a princess, the decor was also quirky and beautiful, with views over the vineyard opposite. Was so peaceful after the pub closed had a good nights sleep ( maybe heard a few strange noises during the night or maybe my imagination going a bit wild 🙈). Went down for breakfast the following morning and we were the only ones who stayed that night 😱. The breakfast was lovely and fresh we both really enjoyed it. I would give this place 10 out of 10 was perfect. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My partner and I stayed at The Five Bells Inn for two nights and cannot recommend this place highly enough. The room we had (Bacchus) was so quirky and charming, with every conceivable amenity you could want for a short stay. There was even a small decanter of port and some local fudge left out for us on arrival. The roam had an open fire which the staff offered to light for us but it was so toasty and warm that it wasn’t necessary. Breakfast was absolutely amazing! Incredibly high quality, locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection. As for the staff, if you want true customer service then please come to The Five Bells where nothing is too much trouble! We were so well looked after, especially by Sonia who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Thank you so much to all at the Five Bells. We shall definitely be returning soon.

As a local customer we thought we would give it another chance after several recent disappointments over the summer. Service was lacking and carried out by inexperienced staff. Worst nights sleep I’ve had in years The room was above the kitchen and outside smoking area so cigarette smells and kitchen extract smells were rather strong We didn’t get breakfast as it didn’t start till 9 which again I find a bit weird in this day and age we did get a basket of food left outside the night before though

My husband spent 7 weeks travelling in 2023 and said the Five Bells was the best place he stayed in the UK or Europe, so I sought it out when the opportunity arose. 1st time visit to the 5 bells even though I've heard it talked about for years. Glad I finally got to eat here. Beautiful building and bar area. Hard to make my mind up on what to order, it all sounded pretty good. When I finally made up my mind, I wasn't disappointed. Lovely food cooked to how I'd expected to be and thoroughly enjoyable. Service was friendly and efficient too. Look forward to visiting again.

A wonderful find in the countryside! A beautiful pub. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The staff were super friendly and accommodating with our little five month old (with Pram). Great atmosphere and really cosy! Can't wait to go back again 😊

Came here for Valentine’s day, nice and easy to get to, we went in and sat, having some drinks as we were early for the table. The atmosphere was very nice and it was good to see it so busy inside. We were then taken to our table which was a decent spot in the corner and the food was very lovely too. The waitress serving us was very attentive and the dessert that we shared (the lime and coconuts waffles) were extremely nice!

Great pub with very comfortable rooms. Recommend this place for an overnight stop before an early crossing through the Chunnel. Food was very good and exceptional service.

Looks like a very nice country pub. I haven't been in yet, I was just dropping my son off for work as a chef in their kitchen

We've eaten here several times. The food has been spot on everytime. I've always booked a table to avoid disappointment and waiting to be seated.

We've been talking about trying Beefeater for over a year and as we drove past we decided to try them for a late lunch. The server was friendly and attentive. The good delivery was a little slow and while it wasn't bad it was nothing to write home about. Can't say it was memorable enough to return.

Unbelievable just how bad this was. One waiter trying very hard to do it all, but it took almost an hour to even get our starters. The starter was the much advertised and praised (oh yeah?) smoked haddock souffle. Which I suspect was a pre cooked topping of whisked egg, plonked on top on some smoked haddock with a spinach base, so not a souffle at all. Surrounded by a far too highly spiced sauce that did not complement the 'souffle'. Awful. Then another long wait for the mains. I had fish and chips my husband the hake. Both mediocre. As these are the new owners after new owners who never lived up to the previous owners, I would hope things will improve. They need to stop trying to produce 'fine-dining' that they cannot achieve and concentrate on well cooked pub food. I'll give it a year before we return and hope for the best. The pub has been fitted out nicely, shame no local photos and pictures have still not been reinstated. The waiter was excellent, but even with the reduced number of diners but him running the bar too, more staff are needed,

We had supper there. The food is really good, I am a vegetarian and loved the halloumi salad on offer. The staff are really kind and funny, we will be coming back!
