The manager welcomed our party of 10. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. We had pre-ordered our meals and within 15 minutes our food and drinks were in front of us. I had lasagne and garlic bread and my partner had liver & bacon. Both were delicious.

We arrived to find our table was ready for us and were soon asked what we wanted to drink the drinks were brought to us very quickly. Arthur my daughter’s dog was given a treat with her permission which we thought was a nice touch. We ordered our food and when it arrived it was tasty hot and delicious my daughter had the chicken burger she was very pleased with her meal my husband had the curry and he thoroughly enjoyed it I had sausage and onion Ciabatta with salad and chips it was delicious but I couldn’t manage all the chips the portions were good. We were staying locally and recommended the pub by our hosts. We rang ahead as we were requiring a pub that allowed dogs. Thankfully the pub is very dog friendly, even providing fuss and treats. The pub did not disappoint at all. A great menu selection which was a refreshing change from just burgers. A nice chat with one of the staff members whose daughter runs the pub and our food order was taken promptly. When the food arrived we was delighted by what arrived, presentation was great and the taste even better. We were both very happy with our meals. We have already recommended the pub to our family and plan to revisit again soon

We had a wonderful time at The Flying Horse on Sunday eve. We were staying locally at a campsite with a group of friends formed of 10 adults and 8 children and a dog and that can sometimes prove tricky for us to book somewhere to eat out. The Flying Horse accommodated all of us, were friendly and welcoming and settled us quickly to our table. As we had pre-ordered being a big group, the children were served promptly on arrival and the adults soon after. Between us we had a variety of roasts, which were delicious and plentiful. An ice cream van arrived outside from which the children selected their desserts and these were given as a complimentary addition. All of the adults thought they were too full for dessert but managed to fit one in as they were too delicious to resist. The drinks were good, the service brilliant and we would definitely return if back that way sometime.

Visited the flying horse today after staying in a air BnB. The pub closer to us had bad reviews about the landlady being unfriendly so I searched out this place and have them a call to book a table. Reviews said this pub was friendly and I certainly got that impression from the call when booking, so was looking forward to taking my wife there to celebrate our anniversary. On arrival we where welcomed straight away and seated. Service was super fast and friendly. The pint of inch's slid down nicely. Shared a camembert with my wife which was so so good, then decided on a mixed Sunday roast which was absolutely delicious and so large I couldn't finish it all. The roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese particularly with mentioning. Didn't think I'd have room for dessert but after watching another patron drizzle a sticky toffee pudding in custard then I couldn't resist. The dessert was good and not overly big which after that roast was probably a good thing. Our experience of the pub was nice, staff were friendly, happy and attentive and unlike some pubs when your a stranger from afar made us feel welcome. I found prices more than good value and tipped accordingly. Would definitely return if we ever come back this way. The staff are definitely a big selling point for the place.

Pictures speak for themselves... great meal and refreshing beer. What more do you want?! Great way to spend a Monday night after a long day working from home. We love this pub.

Went to the Flyer for lunch again today, the food was lovely, the atmosphere was great and we were looked after very well, I felt very safe there, I didn’t have to go inside the pub at all, I can really recommend this pub

We had takeaway from the Flying Horse tonight, which I suspect is a new thing post-COVID. Well, thank goodness because the Fish and Chips are amazing. Great job, Flying Horse, and best of luck in these trying times.

We were a group of 10 friends that gather weekly for a bike ride followed by a pub lunch .We had enjoyed a trip to The Flying Horse in the Summer so decided to return .How disappointed we were ....Our first complaint was that the place was freezing cold and that alone was so unwelcoming .It was a cold but sunny day and normally after 3 hours cycling it’s a treat to walk in to the warmth of a pub for some lunch .And it’s a real bonus to see a fire - not here though which was a shame .It was actually warmer outside in the sun than it was inside .The young lad on the bar ( who also did everything else as he was the sole member of staff we saw) did put the heating on when we complained, so that by the time we were leaving it was BEGINNING to warm up .....The food was also mostly very disappointing although I will say that my fish and chips were good .My husbands burger was presented so badly and really looked inedible so he sent it back saying that a big dry cold bun with a small cooling burger and some cold grated cheese did not make a burger !He was told they’d make another and 5 minutes later the same burger came back with a now burnt bun - otherwise not a lot had changed so he just didn’t eat it and left the pub very hungry !My friends roasted vegetable salad consisted of a handful of roast veg in a huge dry cold ciabatta bread with salad leaves on the side .Two of our friends drank their pints of beer as they were thirsty but kept saying it didn’t taste very good ...When ordering another round of drinks The barman mentioned that beer was off !Overall it was very disappointing and we won’t be returning .

Perhaps I am being unfair and am among a minority when I see pubs like this, perhaps this is what people want and economics dictate this is the way forward? Dunno, I don't like it though, some pubs need it as they fail otherwise, not sure about this one. First visit in a number of years and was looking forward to the seeing the old place, but it appears to have been refurbed and poshed up a bit. Used to be a characterful place with a great fireplace area, dimly lit and snug as a blanket, always teaming with locals, the hub of the village. They have crammed more tables in so food must be the order of the day, the woodwork has increased and it's been given a lick of F&B style paint. Now looks unexceptional, like half a dozen other pubs you will have walked into. Service friendly enough, didn't stop for food as was feeling rather maudlin about the loss of the old place (but that is my problem of course). I wish them well and hope the locals still fill the place of an evening, but can't see me returning.

As do many others we stopped here on our way to the Big Cats. We were a fairly large party with a small child and a time constraint. However, the staff coped brilliantly, were very friendly and professional. The menu was varied, the food served quickly and the portions very generous. It was also lovely! The atmosphere was lovely and, if we lived closer, we would make this a regular haunt.

Stayed locally for a long weekend and visited three times. Food very good and well priced. Service was friendly and efficient. On the Sunday we asked whether there was anywhere open in the village that sold milk - there wasn't but they gave a 4 pint carton for free - that's special service! Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our overnight stay, extremely friendly staff who allowed us to check in early before our trip to Chapel Down. Quirky bedroom and bathroom in keeping with the nature of the building, but with modern stylish decor. The food in the restaurant was nice, reasonably expensive, but good quality and generous portions. Tenterden is a very attractive place to visit.

Bed was comfy. Staff was terrific. Friendly and accommodating. The place is kept clean. A bit noisy when they have an event. Food is okay. Not great. The staff makes up for the food.

I visited this pub regularly, but will never return back. End of September me and my partner meet up in this place for the first time after a month separation. We was sitting in the garden watching the sunset together when I realised the lady serving at the counter was spaying on us behind the bushes for some reason. It was dark when she decided to walk all the way to the back garden, just to spy ot us, because she couldn't see us in the dark😁 Long story short, after few weeks me and my partner received a parking charge for using the car park which belongs to the pub. She was too busy to spy on us for 2 hours and had no time to tell us that the parking rules has changed recently. Never going back to this dodge place again!
