I was last here 25 years ago, and I have to say that yesterday's visit was fairly disappointing. The car park has room for around 40 cars and access is good. Paths are well maintained and there are a few benches and a good number of spots to sit for a picnic. Generally visitors seemed to be taking their rubbish away responsibly. It is promoted as containing rare chalk grassland species. However, the entire area which we walked on was almost entirely overgrown with dense tussocks of coarse grasses, thistles and plantains. The only obvious chalk grassland species visible was crosswort. There are cultivated fields uphill to the North and East which are probably fertilized and leaching nutrients onto the reserve. The only saving grace was the bird life. We saw a good number of meadow pipits, linnets and yellowhammers. We said that we would give it one last chance in about a month's time, so I will edit this review then...

I recently completed a 5-mile walk around Devil's Trough and found it to be a rewarding experience. The route is clearly signposted, which makes navigation straightforward. However, given the valley's varied terrain, I recommend wearing sturdy shoes and ensuring you have a good level of fitness before setting out. This way, you'll be better prepared to fully enjoy the stunning views and the challenge of the hike.

This place is beautiful! You can easily park, you can make a donation for this, but it is not mandatory. The dogs are allowed loose in certain places and fixed in some places, this is indicated due to live stock. You can take the easy routes, through the grass, which is easy to walk on in sandals. However, me and my husband + our two dogs, we walked the devil's kneading trough that is in this area. Walking shoes are recommended, it is steep but really worth it! What a beautiful environment. The climb up is tough but there are steps. Take your time and breaks and enjoy everything you encounter!

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and it’s clear to see why. We always enjoy walking here, well signposted paths and stunning views.

Impressive geological feature on the North Downs, enjoying extensive views over the surrounding countryside to the town of Ashford and the coast at Dungeness on a clear day. A circular walk leads down to the base of the trough, and back up through the woods. This takes in plenty of wild flowers in late spring and early summer. There are a couple of information boards to tell visitors more about the area, and a reasonable size parking area across the road. The Devil's Dyke on the South Downs near Brighton is well worth a visit if you enjoy this location.

Great viewing point on a lovely clear day, wear sensible hiking shoes if your going to go up and down the hillsides as quite steep in places, great views across Ashford right over to Dungeness power station. Great if your into your photography.

Very quiet and tranquil place. Breathtaking view of the fields. You will want to buy a telephoto lens for it.

Unfortunately this place seems to have closed and it's turned into a venue for functions, weddings, private parties etc.Shame as could have done with a nice cup of coffee on our long walk.

Not a bad little restaurant, nice views, well kept and clean. Menu not too inspired, i.e sandwiches, salads etc. Only had a coffee as just passing through. Good friendly staff

Such a beautiful country pub with a lovely calm and friendly atmosphere. The food is amazing and we will definitely be back soon. Highly recommended especially the roast on a Sunday and this place is absolutely worth a visit. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Really felt at home.

Unbelievable just how bad this was. One waiter trying very hard to do it all, but it took almost an hour to even get our starters. The starter was the much advertised and praised (oh yeah?) smoked haddock souffle. Which I suspect was a pre cooked topping of whisked egg, plonked on top on some smoked haddock with a spinach base, so not a souffle at all. Surrounded by a far too highly spiced sauce that did not complement the 'souffle'. Awful. Then another long wait for the mains. I had fish and chips my husband the hake. Both mediocre. As these are the new owners after new owners who never lived up to the previous owners, I would hope things will improve. They need to stop trying to produce 'fine-dining' that they cannot achieve and concentrate on well cooked pub food. I'll give it a year before we return and hope for the best. The pub has been fitted out nicely, shame no local photos and pictures have still not been reinstated. The waiter was excellent, but even with the reduced number of diners but him running the bar too, more staff are needed,

We've been talking about trying Beefeater for over a year and as we drove past we decided to try them for a late lunch. The server was friendly and attentive. The good delivery was a little slow and while it wasn't bad it was nothing to write home about. Can't say it was memorable enough to return.

I have had incredible fun in this cuisine. Reminded me of the Indian flavours back in my country! Enjoyed the service! Will definitely order again!
