Terrible. Never enough staff. Seems people ordering drinks get served before food orders. Waited 15min at bar just to place order. Then waited over an 75 min for food, when asked how long it was going to be, was told they had forgot to push the button to send to kitchen. So waited another 15 min. Arguments at the bar with other customers and staff over food quality. Then when our food arrived. It wasn't worth waiting for, one steak order was sent back and refunded as inedible. Oh, and tried ordering via the app and that wasn't working either. Really bad experience.

From ordering to delivery of food there was a considerable time to wait approximately an hour. It was not all delivered at the same time. When asking the staff about the order, they was not fully honest with the timings and also they seemed short staffed on the day. The ordering online for your meal to be brought to your table works really well but when food is being delivered separately, it's frustrating. Hardly saw anyone when you needed them and have to wait around until someone showed up.

great service from the young girl looks like she was a new person don't think she's knows how to smile at customers then I asked for Sunday dinner she told me there was no choice of meat only Turkey and there was no pigs in blankets I was going to order the large meal but when I realised I couldn't get a mixed meat I decided to go for two smalls one for my wife one for me I asked to speak to the manager she came out and explained the girl couldn't do nothing without her say so but it still doesn't explain why she can't be polite and smile at customers I asked for the manager for some more meat on my plate as I was losing the pigs in blankets who came out with lots of vegetables on it more likely Christmas dinner if you ask me but it did fill me up me and my wife would give it a 4 out of 10 my wife said it was a bit hard the meat and it was covered full of red cabbage which neither of us like it was a long waiting for your food would I come back again probably not or maybe once just to see where they can change my opinion

Not the best experience. Chose to eat in the Pheasant for a work lunch as usually it's pretty quick service and reasonable priced. It was relatively busy when we arrived with a few tables available that had not been cleared or cleaned. We ordered our food on the app and after an hour went to the bar to ask for an update on food as we needed to leave for work. The response was disappointing and rude. The bar staff said that other people had been waiting over an hour and was ahead of us rather than just simply apologising for the delay and giving a rough timescale. We was told ten minutes longer and it arrived 20 minutes later and food came out staggered which meant by the time my meal came out my two colleagues had already finished their meals. The food was ok but I am not sure the baguette was in the correct bun as it had been put in a soft sub roll rather than a crunchy baguette as advertised. As I was hungry and running late for a meeting I just eat it without getting into a pointless argument as the bar staff were clearly stressed and previous interaction was unpleasant. To improve your service maybe add rough waiting times to the app if possible or have this on a chalk boared as you come in. Overall I wouldn't rush back and possible wouldn't go back based on this experiance.

Walked in and was greeted straight away, very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. It was very busy and it was explained there was a wait on food which is understandable with how busy they were. The kids loved the play area and the food was cooked perfectly.

Had a table booked to celebrate a birthday. Had to find it ourselves. After meal, birthday cake came out & put on the table with nothing said. Thought restaurant had supplied it only to later get told it wasn't for us. Staff was very rude & blamed us. Embarrassing is an understatement. Won't be coming back here again

Very Disappointing took over 1 hour before starters arrived (simple starters) customer service terrible was never told service is slow not one member of staff came to us to update on food etc, Could have offered a free drink to keep for good will ..the chap who served food was quite snappy and sharp when I said how long we waited even making excuses it made it very unpleasant I totally get they were busy but no need to be rude. I’ve worked myself in the industry and I’m old school although staff maybe stressed but you need to keep customers happy so they keep coming back. When mains came out food overcooked.

Decent food, reasonable prices, nice beer, good service. Can't really go wrong here. Update: Went for a meal and a pint tonight (5th April 2022) New menu with plenty of choice. Was a nice nice meal and pudding, nice relaxed atmosphere other than the overly loud TV in the other end of the pub. Update: February 2025. Another meal and a few drinks. Was a good night. Service was spot on, food at the table quickly. Very loud place as restaurant right by the bar and pool table. Don't expect a quiet night out.

This is our local pub, we’ve only recently moved to the area and we’re keen to try out the local pub. We were so impressed by the service, the food and the prices! I had a southern fried chicken burger with a cider, and my fiancé had the mixed grill with a beer. The food took about 15-20 minutes to arrive which was nice because we could chat and didn’t feel rushed. The staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. It was so nice to see it really busy as well!

Excellent food nice pub and Atmosphere only little let down as we were a party of about 10 of us after we had our main meal we ordered a sweet pudding but because there was a little mix up of one order for a friend of ours they finished there meal a bit later than ours time he went up an ordered he's sweet they said it was too late as gone nine pm but once we explained to one of the bar staff about what happened with he's main meal he was able to have he's sweet as we were altogether wasn't fair that we had ours and not his fault but other than that brilliant evening out.

Would not recommend for food. Great they accept well behaved dogs. Not enough staff to manage a busy Saturday evening

Four of us spent a great day at the pub. Lovely food, great drinks & cocktails & friendly bar staff. Stopped going here three years ago, but the team have completely turned the place around, so good to have a decent local pub within walking distance, see you very soon.

Pub was busy on arrival but we were shown to our table quickly. Food ordered at the bar and arrived piping hot in under 10 minutes. Very tasty grub. Will be back.

Booked a boxing day meal here with my family. First you had to pay deposit to book and then pre order your meal. No one was particularly happy with menu options but be ordered anyway as most places were already booked out from November. When we got there on the day, there seemed to be about 3 people running the whole place. Nobody came to see us and we asked at the bar about our booking, had to wait for the table to be prepared. Sat down 10 minutes after out booked time, and then nobody spoke to use for about half an hour. We checked back with the bar who said that they were aware we were here and were cooking our order. Sat back down and starters turned up an hour after we sat down. No one took a drinks order from us, lucky they have an online order service. Which was also slow. Then a full hour waiting for mains, and another hour waiting for desert. The person serving (who i believed was the shift manager) said that they had some sickness, but then I can't see why they pressed on. We also saw people eating from the main menu which would have been far better for our party but the website booking had a us locked into this festive menu. Over £200 on a meal for 6 people that took 3 hours. Don't think I'll be booking any more special occasions here.

This was the worst dining experience i have ever had and completely ruined Christmas. The food was cold and inedible. We were sat in a corner looking out on broken garden chairs a cigarette butts. It was completely understaffed and there weren't even crackers on our table. The only saving grace was the waitress Charlie who was embarrassed and apologetic telling us we weren't the only people to complain and assured us we could have a full refund for a lunch we couldn't eat - only to be told by the barmaid that she would need to clear it with head office -:i sincerely hope this is the case or I will take this further - it was truly an awful day!

Booked our Xmas dinner here. And despite what I can imagine was a very busy, stressful time for all staff involved, our whole menu was very enjoyable. Starter came out within 10 mins of being seated. Which was very tasty and hot! Not long after finishing, our main arrived. Again another very tasty and enjoyable meal. And omg the pudding was amazing! Hats off to to all the staff that had to deal with whatever issues had arisen (there were clearly a few) Thank you all for giving up your Christmas Day to work.

Absolutely disgusting, service and food today (Christmas day). We walked into the pub and had been stood there for 10 minutes before anyone greeted us, this contradicts what the email says in the "Information from Pheasant Ashford about your booking" section. We were then give our table number (32), when we arrived at our table it wasn't ready, one of the waiteress then came over to finish setting up the table, she also told us that they were getting busy and that many staff had left. The starter was over cooked, the main at definitely been left under the hot light until someone was ready for their main, and unfortunately we were the ones that were given those. The desert was by far the best out of the 3 courses. The lady behind the bar was on her own serving drinks, the bar was full and she was very rude. During our visit no one checked on us to see if the food was ok, and when another waiteress came to clear the plates (plate still containing left food) I told her the food was very poor and also she did was leave the plates and walk away. Our visit to the Pheasant was a waste of money, I'm exhausted that I paid £194.97 for 3 of us and the food and service was such a poor standard, which has infact spoiled our Christmas day dinner. The staff at the Pheasant clearly couldn't cope with the pressure.

Totally crap sat the for 2 hours 20 mins for our food a table of 5 after an hour nd 45 mins they said food will be 10 mins but no after 2 hours 20 mins we asked for money back considering it was for my birthday and i had travels 360 miles from cornwall to have a birthday dinner with my terminally ill mother who would or like be my last birthday i would ever celebrate with her again on my next birthday im totally devastated we had to go get a big mac as it was to late notice to book anywhere else avoid at all costs never again

Booked our Christmas dinner for my family total shambles waited 45 minutes for starters then my 6 year old granddaughter had to wait another 15 mins for her starter then waited another hour for our mains and the food was cold and the turkey was like rubber. They messed up our deserts total 3.5 hrs for our meal. Waitress could apologise enough so I don't blame her, been going here for the last 10 years never again completely ruined my family Christmas.

A great selection of food and drinks as you'd expect from Marston's. There's plenty of seating split over different areas including a dog friendly area with free water and treats for the furry friends. Staff are very friendly and the service isn't usually too long. Plenty of parking.

Was busy so expected to wait but not over an hour and a half. Not worth waiting for couldn't even cut the steak with the steak knife. Pie was empty only had dried up gravy in it. Really disappointed my sons birthday meal ended up as a very late take away. Poor service and terrible food.

We stopped here for the Christmas meal. They are very welcoming of dogs and even offer a doggy meal. Service is friendly and warm. However, I cannot get away from the feeling that the food is frozen and warmed up. It didn’t taste fresh, but equally, wasn't terrible. Food is decent value for money. Cannot say the same about the outrageous drinks prices. It put us off ordering more.

After visiting several times this year (2024) we decided to go again for a xmas get together. We found it to be very chilly in there, but most disappointing was the food. OK I understand it was busy, but the experience was very poor as was the food, so disappointing I've been recommending this place to all my friends.

We are regulars to the pheasant as the food is always good value for money and service is normally good, we noticed in the last few visits food taking longer and longer and after visiting today this has got much worst we were waiting over 45 mins for a sandwich and scampi and chips that never came out, staff didn’t inform us of the waiting times so we had to get a refund, it’s now out us off going back to the pheasant again as it’s very obvious that there is not enough staff for the festive period, avoid!

I had my 50th birthday party at the pheasant pub over the weekend Saturday night ,it was the best,staff were great They set it up beautifully decorations.And the buffet was fantastic had calls from family and friends to say how nice the buffet was atmosphere was fantastic the 👏 well done to keeley and Dan also the stuff was great,Thank you for a fantastic night x👌 Racheal cosier.

Very slow service, nearly an hour in between courses,took nearly 3 hours to get all of our food. I was worried about the car park.

We waited around 90 minutes for a main to come out. A member of staff did pop over after 75mins to say our food was on its way. At the end of service the time delay was raised with a member of staff and it was probably one of the worst reactions I've witnessed. He was extremely defensive, making excuses and ultimately making us all feel uncomfortable. There was no offer at all of any comp to rectify the situation. I will do my best to avoid here in future

Large group pre-booked and pre-ordered for a lunchtime work festive meal (with a deposit) - starters arrived for those who ordered them but then had to wait over an hour for the main course. For those who didn't order a starter, the wait for food was 1 hour 45 mins - this was after asking how long and was told it was being plated and have to understand that they are busy, we waited again, politely chased again and the response was blunt & rude with 'I've already told the other one it is on its way' then had to wait a further 15 minutes before the food arrived - most of the dinners were luke warm. No acknowledgement or apology for the delay. Fully appreciate being busy at lunchtime but as we had pre-booked & pre-ordered, very disappointed with the service received. Also noted that our blue light card was not accepted on groups larger than 8 😞

We had a wake for my mother the staff was really friendly and helpful even went so far as offered to put on free music for us out of their own pocket the food they laid on was really nice and it wasn't cheap food either it was good quality all in all the atmosphere was great and the staff were amazing thank you very much.

Food has really gone down hill in the last few months keep going back hoping it will get better it just doesn't. Shame as I enjoyed eating there before but the last 3 times there has been a problem so the last time was my meal there

Food was very good, like the menu, some staff need to cheer up a touch, chap with the beard always welcoming. Clean but toilets need attention and more regular checks as both soaps were empty, only one dryer.

We were celebrating a new colleague joining at work. We ordered easily on the app, drinks arrived quickly and so did the food. Everything was tasty, with friendly service checking how everything was. All very efficient and tasty. It has improved over the past year for sure.

We enjoyed a lovely evening at The Pheasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the atmosphere in the place was warm and inviting. The food was very nice and really good value for money. We couldn't fault it. I had the veggie chili and it was very tasty. It was also served quickly and hot. Overall, we liked it there and would definitely go back again.

Booked a table for the family was very disappointed when ordering the food, once it was ordered and pre paid for not one person mentioned the kitchen run out of certain foods untill the food was placed on the table. Servers didn’t ask for alternatives sides as we was all given half a meal, lettuce in the burger was brown and soggy and a small wine glass is bigger then the rocky road dessert. Even when dessert did come out, the table wasn’t cleared from the mains, looking around the restaurant there was only 3 tables in the area that was finishing up so I wouldn’t class that as busy.

Pub seemed to be app service only, with very little interaction from staff. Only 3 ales on draught, so chose 1 only to then be told it wasn't available, but the person who came over want able to say what the alternatives were without going back to the bar. Decided on an alternative, but then that one was off and tasted like vinegar. The food was nice, but not worth the stress of the visit!!

The food was great but the service was terrible. We ordered Lasagna and Steak and Ale pie. They were reasonably priced and when they finally turned up very tasty. I question putting spicy cous cous as part of a side salad served with an Italian dish but it didn’t detract from the meal. The service was appalling. First the bar person asked who was next. There were only three people waiting! Luckily we were all honest. Then my drink was filled with ice when I specifically asked for it without. The menu didn’t state there was a choice of chips or mash so although that was a nice surprise it was a bit annoying as I had to guess my partners preference. After 20 minutes no food had arrived. I returned to the bar and queried this-they really weren’t busy. I was told that there was a 30 minute delay. I asked why we weren’t informed and was told the bar person hadn’t been told. It took another 15 minutes for it to arrive. My boyfriend is not the most patient of people so it totally ruined our romantic lunch. The apology we received was late and limp. Hopefully this is not reflective of their normal service as it’s a nice pub and as I said before the food was very good.

Four adults had lunch here & we booked a table for 2pm. Pub is roomy & family orientated with a small kids play area. Pool table is available at £1.50 a game that takes card payments. It kept rejecting coins . TV on the wall showing horse racing was in the pool table area, as well as a dart board. Outside seating is available and the place was busy but not overcrowded or noisy . Food was fairly reasonable. Pie, chips, peas & gravy was £11.29 each and was cooked nicely. A fair few items were off the menu as no stock available but all 4 of us found something to eat. I think the drinks are expensive. Nearly £14.00 for a pint of Fosters & a white wine spritzer. Staff were helpful & location is ok. Free parking on site but limited, as other shops are at this location. Would probably go back again.

Lovely pub unfortunately some of the food was under par. The order of Hunters chicken came without the onion rings or rocket, nobody came to advise that these items were out of stock and offer us a different side. The burger came out and had brown lettuce inside (not crisp as expected). Some items on the menu were also out of stock. The other food we had was good. It seemed that there wasn’t enough staff as the wait to be seated was a good 10 mins and quite a wait at the bar.

Wait times for food have exceeded 1 hour 20 minutes in each of the 3 previous visits. I think this should be a key area to tackle to improve the business.

We pre-booked a table around an hour before arrival and when we get here they were not expecting us. The manager advised that they printed there arrival list at 10am and had not checked it since. He advised he needed to check the back of house report which he then went before the bar and started serving other guests, that’s a great back of house check. A waiter came over and due to being on crutches i required asssitance and found a table for us, but there was only an hour to have the table. So to order food and eat it in an hour, which is fine doesn’t worry us however, the food then arrived 10 minutes before 2pm which is when we had to give the table back by… We didn’t rush our food and was watched and checked on 5 times! After we had finished our last mouthful they were there cleaning the table ready for their next one.

Very dissatisfied, first in so hopefully have a good meal, ordered 2 Sunday roasts with extra side portionof mash, when food came found it to be cold, told waitress who looked and asked if I would like it replaced err yeah, took meal away, when it was finally returned I pointed out that the gravy and extra portion of mash was now cold, she looked at me like a deer in the headlights and said enjoy your meal.

Weatherspoons with a pool table and dart board which costs more.

Most times I come into the pheasant isn't an enjoyable experience and I'm met with not very welcome faces. But everytime Morgan is working, she makes a point of saying hello and asking how I am. She is an absolute super star! She is so professional and will go above and beyond to make your experience 10 out of 10. I will only be back in the future if Morgan is given the recognition that she is truly deserved.

A relative brought my children here a few times over the summer. They both really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, so much so they requested to go again and again. I came in to see what all the fuss was about and it didn't disappoint. Morgan was particularly friendly as were other staff members we encountered. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.

Went here for my leaving lunch. 16 of us all ordering at the same time. Food took a while to come out (but that was ok as we had time to catch up). We all ended up with our food at the same which was great. Fish and chips was huge, Mac and cheese was really tasty, and tohe chicken tikka masala, lovely as always. Service was with a smile and Craig took his time to talk to us and make sure we were all settled with our meals and everything ok Asked for allergies when we ordered. Ideal place for larger groups and the staff were fab and friendly. Well done to them all.

Great pub for a quiz on Monday nights with cheap beer aswell. We often go here for family meals as well as every Monday for the quiz. It's such a friendly pub and they have a great menu and cater for those with allergies and they have a gluten free menu too. They are always so welcoming and friendly. Food is brilliant and the quizzes are so much fun. I would definitely recommend.

We always come on a Monday Evening for Craig’s quiz. It’s always fun, Craig is a great quiz master (more food questions please) and the atmosphere is always good. If I ever can’t make it I always miss it.

Your poor bar staff and also kitchen staff, we feel so sorry for them. Massively understaffed in both areas. It took 18 minutes to be served drinks at the bar. We sat down to our 18:15 table booking at 18:29. When I went to the bar to order food I waited 10 minutes to then be told that the wait for food would be 1 hr 30 mins minimum. At that point we decided to leave. It totally ruined our date night for our treat whilst we were off work. We ended up buying food from Tesco’s express and cooking for ourselves and washing up too which of course was not the plan or point to booking a table at the pheasant. Your staff need more help, it’s not their fault, it’s managements fault.
