The best restaurants serving British food in Arun South East

Visiting a friend and picked up a few pies here as the shop looked lovely so drew me in! Omg was I pleasantly surprised. Absolutely gorgeous pies full of filling and flavour! Will defo return! If you like your pies this is the place to go!

DISAPOINTING Sunday Roast. 3 years ago we had a lovely lunch at The Norfolk so we're very surprised at poor quality of our roast. The food came immediately which suggested it had been sitting, waiting for a long time and indeed the yorkshire puddings and potatoes tasted old and reheated. The Yorkshires had damp uncooked bottoms with an unpleasant flavour. The potatoes were not crispy on outside and were too soft inside. Beef chewy, dry and tasteless. Gravy excessively salty. Best part was our excellent waitress and the other staff.

A small cafe with very basic furniture and decor. Cheap basic, fill-belly menu. Some would call this a transport cafe, but bearing in mind the quality of such places elsewhere, particularly in France, this place fails to get anywhere near that standard. Our mugs of tea were produced by the man behind the small counter. He spun on his seat, threw a tea bag in each mug, filled them with hot water from machine, added milk, got up, took 2 steps and plonked them on our table!!

Had a delightful meal at Vardar last night with a friend. We received a friendly warm welcome on arrival from the business owner. Our waiter Charlie was really attentive and looked after us throughout the evening. The food was really tasty we had lamb shank for our main which was superb and well presented. Will definitely pay another visit. Would highly recommend.

Long walk to the George at Burpham for a lunch. I was not disappointed, the toasted cheddar and chorizo sandwich was excellent as were the triple cooked chips.

We were in littlehampton for the weekend and went for dinner Saturday night, I have to say absolutely amazing, my wife had tuna cacciatorre and she said it was the best meal out in a long time, I had the sicilian fish stew and all i can say is wow, We could see the chefs cooking in the kitchen and it was a great experience, so good we went again Sunday for carvery and to say it was good is an understatement as it was brilliant, lamb and beef amazing as was all veg and gravy, Definitely be back.

The BEST coffee in town, side note the vegan caramel oat milkshake with 2 shots of coffee in it is SO good 😁 The only note is if you can't do stairs, there is limited seating downstairs, and can get quite a buy, so try for a quieter time

Had a wonderful brunch here, full English breakfast and friends had different but all food was superb as was the service, nothing too much trouble. Quirky booths with lots of games that can be played whilst waiting. Have also been here just for coffee and tea and service is brilliant, will be back again soon.

I went to the Boat House the other week and I ordered the kedgeree. It was £15.95 which is a lot for what you get. The rice was hard and the fish obviosuly wasn’t fresh. I am extremely disappointed with the food as it used to be such good quality. I think the prices are very expensive and not worth the food quality, making me not want to come back again. I also met the owner and when I spoke to her she seemed very unwelcoming and rude. I also heard another conversation between her and another member of staff slagging off one of the other customer or staff I cannot be certain as to which one it was. As a customer having only been a few a time,this really came as a suprise to me to see no professionalism whatsoever. I am very upset and again disappointed with my experience. All around it just wasn’t an enjoyable place to be. This is such a shame as to what use to be a nice place for food can be so toxic and shocking.

We stayed and ate in the evening with them. Our room was beautiful, lovely linen, and towels a really calm space! Yes it is in the centre of Arundel but we were surprised by how little we could hear traffic. We had a cheeseboard and beautiful salami’s beautifully served, we were told where everything was from, lovely wines to choose from, they certainly exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back, run by a really lovely couple. Breakfast was continental but again locally sourced and first class

We had 2 of number 3 breakfasts absolutely fabulous, if I had a criticism it was the tea, I asked for a pot of tea for 2 it was extremely small with extremely small cups, the tea was very strong due to 2 large tea bags in so had to ask for some hot water to dilute it, the tea pot was said to be a large one, so the single pot must be from a toy set. All and good food and prices.

Excellent café serving quality food. Delicious bacon, meaty sausages, and perfectly cooked soft scrambled eggs. Importantly for us Carlyle’s Cafe’ is also a dog friendly establishment, the friendly staff even present your loved one with a tasty treat! Thanks for a great visit, we look forward to returning.

Expert Sunday lunch Nothing short of amazing for Sunday lunch today ! Haven’t been in years. A very organised professional buffet in my opinion. Go up to carvery and request your meats & vegetables plus sauces. A waitress delivers your meal to your table for you to enjoy. Food was hot and served beautifully and tasted delicious. The roast potatoes are bloody good!! They were nicer than what I do at home - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Service was spot on but not intrusive at all. Lesley the landlady was very welcoming and happy and I’m glad we went. We sat in the conservatory on Easter Sunday and had a lovely meal. Thank you. Highly recommended.

My wife and I came here for dinner but were told we had no reservation despite my wife booking at the hotel reception in person! However the guy who welcomed us (Chris), got us a lovely table and then told us our first drinks were on the house due to the mix up. Our food was great and the service from our waiter, Alex, was first class. In the end a wonderful evening and we will certainly go back for more! Thank you to all involved..!
