We stayed and ate in the evening with them. Our room was beautiful, lovely linen, and towels a really calm space! Yes it is in the centre of Arundel but we were surprised by how little we could hear traffic. We had a cheeseboard and beautiful salami’s beautifully served, we were told where everything was from, lovely wines to choose from, they certainly exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back, run by a really lovely couple. Breakfast was continental but again locally sourced and first class

A perfect evening. We went to House Arundel this evening for my birthday. We had a lovely bottle of rosé and some delicious cheeses (which we chose from a wide selection) and saucissons. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The dining room has a lovely atmosphere, we will definitely go back.

Have visited many times in the last few years and ways had excellent meals. The owner has recently changed the style of menu, starters are still fantastic but the main courses are lacking. I had hassleback potatoes and a huge amount of carrots, a few beans and asparagus with my main meal recently. The hassleback potatoes were not as I know them, just boiled potatoes with slits in them and I couldnt eat all the carrots, I felt like a rabbit. Desert was good but the chef needs to re think his veg.All in all just too much food.

Delightful small restaurant for lunch. We had the dressed crab which had been freshly brought in that morning. This was perfectly prepared, presented, served with salad and warm fresh bread and perfectly chilled Champagne. The table setting with linen and fine glassware was exemplary. All very very reasonably priced. The individual service was complimented by the charming helpful owner/manager.A delightful experience, which we will repeat next time.

Visited for Sunday lunch and found it a lovely experience. The House and it's decor are beautiful and it has a wonderfully serene atmosphere. The menu is simple, light and very suitable for lunch on a hot, sunny day. Service was excellent and the food was fresh and attractively served. The bread offered was fresh and tasty. We had no room for the delicious sounding puddings. We will hopefully visit again soon.

What can I say? With absolutely beautiful decor & furnishings - Arundel House has an antique styling, but with all the necessary 'mod cons' provided, creates a relaxing ambiance that makes for a totally relaxing stay away from home, be it for a quick night or two away - or a longer visit. The proprietor, a lovely lady - Kim, is very accommodating, with nothing seemingly being too much trouble. The restaurant is open weekdays for afternoon teas & snacks & evening events (including west end show nights) are a frequent occurrence - the food is excellent & well worth booking for! Centrally located, you most certainly could not go wrong here!

We visited Arundel House for a Saturday Cabaret evening with Julie Stardust; this was our first visit here . We were greeted with complimentary champagne and the evening just got better and better.Kim , the owner , has created a fabulous dining environment . Called in on the offchance for dinner while we were away for the weekend. Limited menu but food was 'amazing'; service and welcome were superb and cost was very reasonable. Small shop included in this restaurant and the glassware was really good and honestly priced. We enjoyed our first night there so much we went back the second night and tried something difference on the menu which was also superb. Apparently they do rooms as well and I know where we will be booking next time. A Must if in Arundel.,

Stayed for one night whilst visiting the Goodwood Revival. The room was bright and airy with a good sized en-suite and a large four poster bed. The only real downside was that there was no wardrobe to hang our clothes in. We had to hang them on the back our our bedroom door, ok for one night but not so sure if you were staying for longer, also the room, (No 4) could benefit from a larger TV. That said, we had a great stay and booked in for dinner. The menu had a good selection and the food was well cooked and presented and served by very pleasant staff. Unfortunately, they do not do breakfast, but there are a couple of good cafes only a few minutes walk away. There is also a shop attached to the hotel selling very good quality glassware and assorted items. Purchased a 12" cake stand for £85, looked up the company on our return home....list price £395, so grab yourself a bargain. Looking to visit Arundel again to explore the area and would have no hesitation in staying again or recommending it to others.

Locals tended to avoid this location, because it carried the reputation of previous ownership. But we were amazed to find that under the ownership and supervision of Kim, this is now in our opinion the best eating place in Arundel and is amazingly good value as well. A perfect Sunday lunch last weekend ! There is a sense of space and luxury about this restaurant, without being overstated, but how do they achieve two fabulous courses for just £20.50? A brief moment of 'food envy' when two guests' Bloody Mary dressed crayfish dishes were presented, but thankfully a forgotten moment when our caramelised goats cheese starters arrived. A generous portion of unctuous goats cheese on translucent slices of pickled beetroot, leaves, pesto and candied walnuts. Delicious ! The cray fish also had zingy 'prosecco' or lemon gel.Mains were a tarragon mouse stuffed supreme of chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, with two of us going for the 'how would you like that cooked' rump of lamb. Beautifully tender lamb with the best roast potatoes. All washed down with a really superb Yealands NZ Pino Gris. A wonderful Sunday lunch, thank you.

Visited for lunch between Christmas and New Year. Had been meaning to try this restaurant, and were very pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the food and very attentive service. Everything was done with an attention to detail that reflected the owner's length of experience in the restaurant trade. My partner's scallop starter and my crab salad were both delicious and inventive, with original twists that took them out of the ordinary, as were his lamb and my duck confit main course. The puddings were equally worthy of our attention, and when my partner asked for a glass of dessert wine, a Stellenbosch was suggested which went superbly with his semifreddo. The lunch menu was extremely good value, and we will definitely be returning to sample the evening a la crate menu and some more of the wonderful lunch menus. Can definitely recommend!

I have to say it is difficult to put this restaurant into a bracket. The decor is interesting, unusual, quite loud, going back to the upper class sixties style. Hostess was friendly and efficient. The new waitress (her first day) had no idea what to do, where to stand or how to serve ( no prior training methinks)Starter was great, scallops with pea purée. The main of Cod was very nice, the sweet however was too large, a lemon posset, served with raspberry sorbet, which did not go with the posset at all!I think it was good value for the money, I would come back again.

Went there a couple of weeks ago. We all squeezed around our table which was a few inches against the wall. The table was so close to the table behind us that every time our partners needed to get down from the table they had to ask the people behind to stand up from their chairs to make room. The meal: I had pate - not home made - a slab on a slate with some bread and chutney. Main course - I ordered turkey. This arrived not as slices of turkey but more like a turkey roll, no stuffing, 6 Brussels which were not cooked enough, a sausage and charlotte potato. Desert - ordered Christmas pudding - this was a tiny catering slab which was microwaved too much so it was chewy. The bill - £42 ! This was excluding drinks. Now I have just been to the Arun View in Littlehampton which served the best Christmas lunch I have had. Beautiful turkey, stuffing, sausage, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, Swede, cauliflower, roast potatoes. Desert was Christmas pudding with brandy custard which was so delicious and all for £18.

The style and opulence of the restaurant hits you when you first walk in: white linen, classy glassware and lovely seating all in view as you walk through the door. You feel straight away that you are going to eat well and enjoy the experience. We spent approx 2 + hours there and surprised how easy that time went by for a lunch session. The roast options were fabulous and puddings to enjoy at every bite .... Altogether the bill for 3 persons (including a glass of Champagne) bottle of wine and 3 courses (for two) was excellent value ..Approx. £35 per head. The service was pleasant and attentive but left alone to relax and this is confidence in their food and ambience and such a refreshing change from those overtly pesky places who partake in Americanisms of ...'missing you already'.... Defiantly worth a visit but ....BOOK ahead as popular. No parking so take extra time to find somewhere! Enjoy :)

This will be my 3rd or 4th visit, and probably the best, the food was absolutely delightful, and so reasonably priced compared to other Arundel fine restaurants, I said it before and I will say it again, its hard to see why this is not rated higher. I think one the best places to eat in Arundel. Location is great, ambience lovely that creates a nice atmosphere. Hard to fault.

We where very exciting and looking forward to eating at the this restaurant. The decor was excellent and to our taste. All the staff where friendly and the food was excellent. My evening which was our 25th wedding anniversary was upset by the tables being to close together. So a table of 6 appeared and it took them 10 minutes and I am not kidding to decide who was going to sit where. They where very loud and didn't have a thought for other customers eating and wanting a romantic evening. The poor waitress couldn't serve our food to us without squeezing between chairs with hot plates. The owner manager did notice our predicament, and should have offered us another table or even a drink at the end of the meal. The best bit was when we came to pay. My husband offered his card and was told that she only took cash and there was a ATM machine round the corner. We didn't even have a proper bill. Washing up wasn't not on my list of things to do whilst in Arundel and we feel that this should have been made clear at booking. Would I go there again I am not sure, depends how close the tables where as I know you cant choose your clients.

It's not often I can say "not only love the food but love the place with it" The ambiance is lovely as long as you like going back in time, All tables have there own light that makes a warm atmosphere. Will be going back to try some of the other dishes.

Booked at the last minute on a Saturday afternoon for Saturday dinner. We had a table in one of the little rooms upstairs, for the main restaurant downstairs was full, and it was absolutely charming. A classic and elegant looking restaurant, with beautiful contemporary cuisine and superb service. Excellent value for money. We cannot fault the evening and cannot wait to be back!

Away for the weekend, this restaurant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. This was the best meal we have had for the longest. Staff and Kim were friendly and efficient, taking time for a chat before left. the steak my friend had was perfection, melt in the mouth and incredibly reasonably priced, having paid a lot more where we live for very inferior steaks. We both had scallops for starters which again were cooked beautifully and I had the Turbot for main course. Truly lovely experience, first time I have eaten 'foam' which formed part of the dish, delicious! Very intimate surroundings where we sat upstairs with just two more tables which lent itself to amiable conversation far more than a regular restaurant would. Kim, with obviously a great talented chef, has got this absolutely spot on and clearly works hard to ensure everyone is happy.

I haven't been to this restaurant for a few years as it just went a bit off the radar after the owners sold it. I think it may have closed down for a while. So pleased to have returned last night for an evening with friends as it is back to its best. Lovely, welcoming ambience with great lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. We received a warm welcome from the owner and the waitress was attentive and friendly. Not a huge menu but all sounded lovely so choosing was still difficult. Scallops were just lovely and there was no problem in altering the dishes to cope with a food allergy, always a sign of a great chef who prepares each dish fresh. Fillet of beef lovely too, maybe the medium slightly overdone but very tasty. The peanut / salted caramel dessert was amazing and I would return just for this.House Champagne by the glass very good and an excellent wine list. All in all, a lovely evening @ c£60 per head and looking forward to returning soon.

Drag yourself away from some of the overrated (foody)Tarrant street tat, and treat yourself to food from possibly the best chef in Arundel. We were staying at a well known local hotel , but needed a good relaxing lunch, and I have to say I had the best meal of the weekend here. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, i.e wipe it's bottom and walk it past the grill, and the pannatone bread and butter pudding turned a dry uninspiring Italian fruitcake in to a gastronomic thing of beauty! Every mouthful was a buttery flavour explosion, enveloping you like a warm blanket, and the wife's vanilla panacotta.... was stunning. A lovely proud ,slightly squiffy owner, with a good sense of style and what goes where, makes this the best meal I have had in 10 years of Arundel dining, and I've eaten everywhere.Go here, oh , and book, it's very, very good.

We had pre booked our visit on a Saturday night for a romantic dinner. Arundel was looking it's best, the pretty town nestling under magnificent castle. The restaurant is situated on the high street, with a welcome, softly lit frontage. The decor is well thought out and charming, with pretty glassware. A lovely, varied menu gave us excellent food, beautifully cooked and flavoured and well presented. Sadly, we felt the service let an otherwise top evening, down. We had to wait before being shown to our table, had to ask for a drink while looking at the menu and the warmth of the ambience was definitely tempered by a chilly lady who seemed overwhelmed by the task.

There's is a big gap usually between London and country restaurants but at Arundel House you experience absolutely first rate cuisine - as good as anything you'd find in London. We truly enjoyed our experience and booked to go back with the family the following week. The dining room is lovely too. Full of vintage pieces in a beautiful Victorian house.

Situated in this historic location, we felt the restaurant had instant 'kerb appeal'. Inside we found it both classy and comfortable. The wine list offered a good selection, but the real star of the show was the food. My wife and I both had scallops to start, which were cooked perfectly. I had Guinea fowl to follow, whilst my wife had duck. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were generous. The desserts were all very tempting, but we didn't have room to take advantage. The service was good and unobtrusive. We will definitely be back soon!

We visited this restaurant when staying near Arundel for a weekend away with friends. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival and shown to a large oval mahogany table which was beautifully laid out. All four of us chose different dishes from the menu and, without exception, enjoyed superb food. We were the last guests to leave the restaurant; the proprietress sat down with us and we greatly enjoyed her company and conversation

We live in West Sussex and visit Arundel about six or eight times a year - we'd never even noticed Arundel House! It was recently recommended to us and we thought we'd try one lunchtime - what a find!Firstly, it has a very unprepossessing entrance - nothing really to encourage you to come in unlike many of the other attractive restaurants in Arundel. As other reviews have said what really makes a visit worthwhile is the food - superb. We ate off the al la carte menu (canon of lamb, fillet steak, strawberry Eton Mess, pear tarte tatin) although from what we saw and heard, the 'set' menu food was also excellent. Service was good. The one aspect of eating we found slightly disappointing was the slightly cramped feeling - there is not much space between tables in the small room. For our taste there was also a slightly 'old fashioned' look to some of the furnishings - for example there were beautiful starched tablecloths and napkins but the coloured wine glasses were not to our taste. We will be more than happy to return for the excellent food!

Just been to The Arundel House again for lunch with 3 friends. The owner never smiled or made us feel welcome. In fact we were made to feel that we were a bit of a nuisance! This is in fact the second time this has happened. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and it is such a shame that the "front of house" treatment was such that we shall not be going back. The pity of it is that we are spoilt for choice for good places to eat in and around Arundel and without exception are always made to feel like a valued customer.

Had a wonderful meal in this restaurant last week after a great day at racing. The first impression of Arundel House is a cosy warm restaurant where you can unwind and relax. I started with the foie gras with a cherry puree which was the best I have tasted anywhere, followed by the medallions of rabbit saddle with a parsnip puree and champ potatoes, STUNNING and finished with the chocolate brownie trifle and salted caramel ice cream, I have to say the best meal I have had this year anywhere, the chef must have magic hands and I don't think a michelin star can be far off with the quality of this cooking. The wine which accompanied the food was spot on a match made in heaven and great service.

Arundel House was recommended to us by friends as a place to go for a meal and to stay the night. It did not disappoint. The room was clean and tidy and very comfortable. The meal was perfect along with the service which is saying something as the restaurant was full on the Saturday night. Arundel itself is great for a weekend get away with or without the kids as there is so much to see and do. The w/e was great but staying in the Arundel House made it a perfect Anniversary w/e. I will recommend this to friends and family and my wife and I agreed that we will be back next year. As noted in another posts, some people wanted breakfast included in the price. Personally my wife and I were still full from the meal the night before and it made a change not having to get up early just to get to breakfast that you are often obliged to eat as it’s paid for. There are many places to eat breakfast in the town and after a walk we went to the café next door which again was really good. Thanks Kim and everyone at Arundel House for making our w/e so special.

I was lucky enough to be taken to this restaurant by friends yesterday for Sunday lunch. It was just a wonderful experience. From the moment we entered we were all made so welcome, placed at a lovely table by a window, set with attractive coloured glass wine glasses, and immediately invited to order drinks (which I just love. I hate it when, having taken your places in a restaurant nothing happens for ages. The Sunday lunch menu is very interesting, with a great range of starters and a range of main courses including beef and lamb, as you would expect for the day. I had the lamb, which was perfect, melting in the mouth. Interestingly when ordering we were told that the lamb would be pink and asked if that was ok. My pudding was the pear tart tatin, and again there was a good range including what looked like a wicked chocolate brownie pudding. All was served with grace and good humour, and attention from the owner too. The building itself is lovely, beautifully presented too. This restaurant is a 'must do'. I shall certainly recommend it and go again. Hopefully soon.

Lovely Sunday lunch, it was full so very glad we booked! My wife was a little disappointed with her lamb as she found it somewhat fatty. I realise some like it like this!

Excellent café serving quality food. Delicious bacon, meaty sausages, and perfectly cooked soft scrambled eggs. Importantly for us Carlyle’s Cafe’ is also a dog friendly establishment, the friendly staff even present your loved one with a tasty treat! Thanks for a great visit, we look forward to returning.

Went with 7 of my family and chose the carvery option. The whole meal was dry and tasteless. The pork was chewy, potatoes dry and the veg was extremely tasteless Since eating there I have read more reviews that say the same. The gravy boat need to read their reviews and up their game, as I for one, will not be going back. Shame, as it was very good when it first opened.

Freezing cold wet day and tried to go into the cafe on the seafront but our little pug wasn’t allowed but got a warm welcome here just behind. Had coffee and a jacket potato and prawns each - all good quality and more reasonable cost than other place
