The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Absolutely lovely place and great staff! Often go with the wife and kids after a local cycle. Food is always hot, freshly cooked and has a real homemade satisfying feel about it! Literally can’t fault the food or the staff, great to see the chef come out and chat too. Highly recommended 👌

We stopped here for some lunch after a walk along the tolkien trail. The staff were really lovely and the service was fab. And the sandwiches were very tasty too 😊 Maybe a bit on the pricey side but very enjoyable meal overall!

Lovely family tea, enjoyed by all. Very clean, tidy and well presented. Extremely welcoming and helpful staff. Very dog friendly. Nice choice of dishes on menu. Food was tasty and fairly priced.

What a brilliant cosy country pub!! We booked for a family gathering Sunday lunch and it was the best few hours together in this little gem. Booked online for a party of 15 and Chris was so helpful with his communication , making sure we had a room to ourselves and pre ordering with some dietary requirements. The pub was very busy that day with a large wedding party outside but it did not affect our time there. The room was so cosy with the fire burning and candles on each table. Staff very attentive taking our drinks orders and looking after us so well. Our pre ordered food was served when we were ready and it was all delicious. Great portions and perfect roast beef and turkey dinners with huge Yorkshires! Can only highly recommend this beautiful pub. Great food, beers and friendly staff. A credit to the Robinson’s Brewery.

Was walking the dog with my sister and stopped by the wellington for a change as i usually go the child of hale,will be going again as the food and customer service was amazing.the food came very fast and was very nice,would recommend as the restaurant is also dog freindly.

Lovely, friendly atmosphere and well looked after by our host Matthew. We’ll definitely be returning to this pub unfortunately can’t say the same for the goat down the road, whom discriminated against our hidden disabilities and refused service. This placed welcomed us without judgment and serves great wine and good music. Would recommend!

Came with my grandma and grandad for food as they come to the pub all the time for drinks , absolutely loved it the food was amazing and would definitely come again

Had a lovely evening. The food was great. Annie and Theo made us very welcome. They are also happy for campervans using the pub to stay over. The next day we enjoyed a walk in the adjacent Brun Valley Forest Park.

We went to a bottomless brunch & Alexander was serving us. He made sure we always had drinks, friendly kind & fast service.

Never had a medium rare steak with no pink meat. Glad never ordered well done it would have been tough. Cheap yes but despite looking nice was horrible. Service nice surprise surprise only place i have eaten where i was not asked how was your meal. Food 1 out 10 Service 8 out 10 decor 8 out 10 Come again? Not in this millenium.

Don’t be put off by the frontage as this place is huge in length. Great seating areas , also with alcoves to eat more privately. Outstanding beer and drink prices with good very reasonable food menu. Excellent staff

Came here for quick family breakfast before heading into Windermere. Waited over 30 minutes for 2 meals to arrive. Breakfast wrap looked like it had been dropped and was minus the hash brown and the additional black pudding, no butter with the toast for large breakfast and then when asked only 1 portion delivered for 4 bits of toast!. Dirty cup brought for the coffee. It wasn’t busy when we arrived but we definitely won’t be coming back again.
