Warm welcoming and friendly in Pendle

Excellent hosts and a lovely friendly atmosphere. We always get a lovely welcome here! The White Lion is a very old traditional inn, that has been modernised but still retains its charm. We last visited on a Sunday evening and enjoyed a live acoustic music event which is held there each month. The pub provided supper for the musicians, which on this occasion was delicious pizzas. We found the hosts to be welcoming, friendly and generous. Would highly recommend.

Very nice pub but the beer (choice of 1 hand pulled) between Xmas and new year was awful. Won't be rushing back.

Tried to come to this pub with my friends for a drink before we went into town, unfortunately we got told to leave before we’d even entered the premises. We are all of age but wasn’t even asked that question before we entered. When asked why we needed to leave we were told ‘ta ra’. We were treated unfairly and judged on our age. I feel solely disappointed.

I only have positives for this wonderful Pub/Restaurant. Upon walking in either outside ( in a lovely area) or inside everyone said hello..wow such a friendly lovely pub!..All the Staff are so accommodating and they treat customers like family. The Landlords are really lovely and friendly...they go the extra mile to make the community and anyone who visits a most wonderful time. There are lots of things going on at weekend and Quiz on Thursdays which is great fun. The food is totally fantastic..well done to their fab Chef..Well done guys i'm sure The White Lion will go from strength to strength. We are looking forward to our next visit, i'm sure there will be lots of things going on and the bonus is the super food.

Had an afternoon walk and popped in for a drink , greeted by lovely friendly staff and customers with dogs , not to everybody's taste but was for me great , had a feel of a good local pub , did not eat but had a extencive menu . Good choice of ales , felt very welcoming , nice couple of hours catching up on news with a friend

What a MAGNIFICENT Sunday lunch! I'm absolutely stuffed. Proper Yorkshire puddings, thick slices of meat, fabulous mash, enough veg to feed a family of four, and delicious gravy that I can still taste now. We're most definitely going back!!

We've just got back from having Sunday lunch at the White Lion, and both my wife and I are absolutely stuffed. We specifically wanted a traditional Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed. It was truly magnificent! There's a choice of three roasts - beef, pork or turkey - we went for the latter. The sliced were thick and tender, the Yorkshire Puddings I'm sure were home-made and very fresh, the gravy was delicious, and there was sufficient veg for a family! Mashed potato was perfect, as were the roasties - again, obviously home-cooked, not out of a packet. This (or similar) review MAY appear twice, as Trip Advisor for some reason or other has created a new account for me

Called at The White Lion for Sunday lunch. Hubby had the carrot and sweet potato soup to start which was really tasty. We both had a roast dinner, chicken and beef. Beautiful! I had the waffles, banana and ice cream dessert which was delicious. Great, friendly service, lovely atmosphere and great value for money.

We walked our dog to the white lion and was really surprised. It had been really nicely refurbished. New beer garden and the staff and food was lovely. We will definitely be returning.

Having tried the food at The White Lion in April, following the refurb, we were sadly left less than impressed. Having been told of a new chef at The White Lion in July, we decided to give the food another try. Today we ate there, and we were more than pleasantly surprised, the food was fantastic! I would highly recommend the Sunday roast platter. You get 3 generous servings of different meats, cooked to your liking. Lots of fresh veggies, mashed potatoes, roasties and homemade Yorkshire puddings. The portion sizing was more than generous, and all at a reasonable price. Roll on next Sunday!!!

Highly recommend visiting The White Lion at Earby the food is amazing and Aspalls cider is pretty special too. Local butchers steak with the best peppercorn sauce I have ever had. Service was spot on. Will definately be returning.

We visited the White Lion again about 3 weeks ago. There was a great atmosphere and you could tell that Adam and Paul have been working hard. We telephoned to say that we were on our way, and could they save us some food as we were hungry. I had the burger and my friend had the bbq chicken pitta. I was not disappointed, the food was lovely. In the evening there was an 80s and 90s act on for Adams birthday. It was a great night. We met many of the locals, whom were all welcoming and chatty. The pub has been done up and looks lovely. As per our visit last time, we stand by our review that nothing is too much trouble. The area is lovely. I can't wait to come back and try the lasagne. Awful food and staff never again! Not for business more a “everyday drinkers” pub Loud music while eating. Not professional during the week.

After the refurbishment the pub is at the best I've ever seen it. As for the food it can't be faulted. Nothing is too much trouble & a warm welcome from Adam, Paul & staff. The beer is also very good with a wide choice, all reasonably priced. Myself & my friends can highly recommend a visit.

What a fantastic makeover this place has had, looks amazing and still dog friendly. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A lovely venue for small celebrations.

What has happened here. I am not sure as it used to be a really nice pub. At the time of reviewing we are waiting for a refurbishment on the pub May be worth giving it another try.

Just back from a lovey weekend in Earby,had a great time at The White Lion pub two nights with two great bands the staff are lovely and very welcoming, this is what I call a proper pub with a snug and an atmosphere all of its own with a great variety of music.Well done to the Landlords.

It is our first time here in Earby and I can say with confidence that we will definitely be back. The pub is situated in a quiet area with a few houses by It, lots of scenery. The pub is lovely, warm, quaint and welcoming. The guys running it are Adam and Paul, they're fabulous. From the moment you walk in you're greeted with a smile and some friendly banter. Nothing is too much trouble. Drinks are really cheap compared to where I live. They have live music on and the people frequenting the pub are also friendly. The best thing about the pub is the fact that they're dog friendly. They have 2 dogs that live there, but all dogs are welcome,their owners are made welcome too. I believe that Adam and Paul are going to be here for a long time. We can't wait to come back and see the refurb. Thank you for making us feel welcome and like family. We miss you already. Not many pubs left like this one. A great old fashioned boozer which gives good service, good beer and a great welcome.

Se reunió con algunos viejos amigos para una comida en el White Lion. Encontramos una buena variedad de cervezas en el bar y un personal amable. La comida era excelente, fresca, casera y muy bien presentada. También es barato. Un pequeño gran descubrimiento lo recomiendo altamente.

Desde la última revisión, no hay comida disponible los lunes y martes en esta ubicación. Hay también otro chef, pero aún así vale la pena una visita.

Personal amable. Se sirvió comida muy rápidamente y era muy sabroso. Sólo pedazo de crítica constructiva que debo añadir es que las mesas estaban en necesidad de una buena limpieza ya que eran muy pegajoso y era un poco desagradable! La pequeñas cosas que contar!!

Sobresaliente fue altamente recomendado como Misa del gallo y el plato de cebolla tarta. El bake vegetariano también era muy sabrosa. White Lion bien merece una visita.

Nos sentimos muy bienvenidos, un buen pub antiguo. La cerveza nos refrescaba como solucionaron ruta mañana y alojamiento. Luego de una linda charla con el barman y gente amable. Terminamos con una comida maravillosa.

With a new chef in place the White Lion is back on the map for good food, we ate here recently and the food was excellent and at a good price. Good beers and a good selection of wines and good staff. Well worth a visit.

Having cycled 50 miles along the Leeds to Liverpool canal we were very very hungry and tired. We got to the White Lion at 8pm on a Friday evening. The staff were delivering food to tables. We asked "do we just find a table"? Then the bombshell " the kitchen closes at 8pm". We pointed to the food still coming out of the kitchen and looked at the time 8.02pm! My husband said we will eat anything but please we really need to eat we've come miles on bikes. The waitress disappeared to ask but returned shortly afterwards with a smug grin "sorry we can't serve you". What dreadful treatment we were quite obviously desperate but they didn't give a dam. I can quite honestly say I am disgusted.

Decent local pub with a good atmosphere and friendly staff and entertaining locals!Definitely worth dropping in for a pint if you're in the area.

This is our local pub and although my husband goes for a drink regularly I on the other hand only tend to go to when wanting a cheap and cheerful meal. There are a few rooms to choose from when eating, including a room set up for dining but this can be a little on the cool side we tend to eat in the room nearest the kitchen. Booking is not normally necessary. The owners are very nice and helpful and service is reasonably quick. The food is usually of a good standard and inexpensive. They serve specials two days a week which include a steak night and a curry night. They also have entertainment every Saturday and sometimes Friday evenings, as well as holding charity events a few times a year. Overall the try very hRd to mKe this a successful pub.

This pub has it all, off the beaten track, fantastic hosts (the owners are lovely), a pool room, great food, numerous rooms to hang out in, great food!

Earby is a tiny little town in Yorkshire. We were traveling through, and the locals recommended the White Lion for lunch. The hostess/owner was absolutely lovely - super friendly, very helpful. Took a snapshot of us with our camera, & drew us a little map for our next destination. Both of our meals were excellent.

everywhere we went this week everyone was very friendly and helpful insisting that they carry cases to our room at tudor house given us welcoming tea tray and places we have been friendly and helpful a good place to be

Being Good Friday and lunch-time we thought it best to book,we arrived at 12.30 to a quiet pub, ok it is a little off the beaten track, but with new owners we had expected it to be a little busy,hence booking in advance. We ordered drinks at the bar, beers and a bottle of wine and our order was soon taken, a good start. We had a little longer than normal to wait for our starters, 2 lovely bruchetta with side salad. A very good tomato and basil soup with the usual roll, warm and fresh and a very nice prawn cocktail. Our mains were not just as good, not enough to complain but lacking something. A rather dry steak and ale pie-the gravy helped here, a bland cheese and leek pie and two medium rare steaks, all with some very nice 'proper 'homemade chips plus carrot and peas that could have done with a bit of salt. As I said all lacking a little something but not enough to complain about. Plus for the money it was quite good value but only slightly above average. There isn't a button between average and very good.The young couple do seem very nice and we wish them well, if they iron out these few problems it could become a popular eating pub.

What a hidden gem.The food here is a credit to the new owners.The meals are great value for money and the food is excellent. The owners and staff have great enthusiastic personallities and nothing is too much trouble.We have been here a couple of times with friends visiting from the Midlands and will be returning very shortly.Congratulations to you all and good luck in turning this pub around and putting it fimly on the map for good food in the local area.

Well worth a visit. A bit off the beaten track but not out of the way even for visitors to North Yorkshire. Recently taken over be a nice young couple who have many great ideas to promote the pub and involve local charities. Food is always good and plentiful with two specials nights with 2for offers. Large garden and smokers shelter (for those who must). Food service finishes at 8pm which may be a bit early but seems to be the way in much of this area.
