Overpriced food. We had the fish finger sandwich which was asked to be toasted. We were told no!? Not sure why. We found the staff to be unfriendly, and there was no access to bar for a pram or wheelchair.

Called in today for lunch, looked really nice from the outside, also nice inside. I ordered the farmers arms steak burger with bacon £17.95. What I got was a processed burger 🤮, chips and a bit of salad. It was worse than a weatherspoons burger. False advertisement at its finest, feel completely robbed. Won't be returning

Never been here before and won’t be going back. We told the staff upon booking one member of the party was gluten free there was nothing she could eat and even no gluten free bread which could be kept in the freezer! Also told no decaf coffee and some things weren’t available. The food was awful and not cheap. The place uninviting. Service not great either. Felt sorry for the waitresses as didn’t appear to have been trained. They did however offer one of the party a free dessert. All in all disappointing.

Had a lovely meal at the Farmers Arms Heskin which has just been refurbished and looking good. This Pub/Restaurant has always been synonymous with friendly service behind the bar and in the restaurant with Staff engaging with the customers, some of whom are locals, to create a relaxed and welcoming environment. The current Staff Vian, Harry and 16 year old Reese, do just this. They are efficient, sociable and loved by the Locals and the reason why many others return including me. Harry in particular displays exceptional customer service skills by not only being efficient but always smiling and using his natural ability to converse with anyone, all of which makes him incredibly well suited for this job. Unfortunately, the new Landlords who have recently arrived are systematically destroying the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant by the appalling treatment of the Staff. The landlady who is one of the new landlords openly struts stern faced up and down the dining area shaking her head and shouts at the Staff in front of and in earshot of the diners and customers in the bar and for no reason other than to exert power. The tension on the faces of the Staff when she appears is obvious and the general atmosphere within the Pub is uncomfortable. Indeed, many regulars and Locals have deserted and gone elsewhere. There seemingly can be no reason for this unbelievably bad treatment of the Staff who are so good and run off their feet, other than maybe this is a ploy to force the current Staff to leave of their own accord in order to bring in their own Staff from their previous employment. This would be a classic case of Constructive Dismissal which I am sure if asked, would be evidenced and supported by many Locals who have witnessed this terrible behaviour themselves. The great reputation and atmosphere of the Farmers Arms is being destroyed. Reputations take a long time to build but very quickly ruined. The new landlady needs to be removed by the owners before it is too late.

Came for s couple of pints from a nearby motel. Lovely place, really nice outdoor seating with play park, good sized parking. Staff were warm, welcoming, friendly. Covered outside seating area with real fire and other electric heating was nice. Hit the spot and would definitely come back for a pint if we are staying in the area again. Didn't try the food as we had already eaten (think we may have been too late anyway) but the restaurant area was rustic and looked appealing.

Called in here on the off chance we didn't need to book a table for lunch as most popular pubs you tend to have to these days. On getting inside we were met a right friendly chap called Henry. Henry gave us the choice of table as it wasn't to busy so we got seated and our drinks order was sorted in no time. After being given their menus we wasn't pushed to order and eventually we chose our meals. A little bit of banter saw our experience in the farmers arms go down well. As for the food, absolutely no issues at all! My wife chose the Thai curry and said if she could change anything at all it, she thought a little more rice with the dish would have been ideal. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas(garden peas was an option) and it came with starter sauce and tomato sauce was also quickly brought on request. The fish did look a little over done but the batter was perfect, thin, nice and crispy and not greesy! The menu was very extensive and I have to say, not the usual over priced setup we usually come across. We have no qualms in turning round and heading out if we feel the prices are excessive! All in all, the farmers is more than worth a stop for a decent meal. Unfortunately we live about 12 miles away so we've never had a full night in here but I bet it's pretty cool. I'm also not sure if they do accommodation but a quick phone call will answer that. I fully recommend you stop off and give this place a try, you won't regret it! A big thanks again to Henry who customer service skills are breath of fresh air and not full of the usual false smiles or to busy to stop and banter whilst taking your order. "cheers" and Henry 👍🏻

Went with my partner last night and had the nicest experience. I had one of the best gluten free burgers I’ve ever had - the double stack burger. It had thick cut bacon on both patties, I didn’t know whether to eat it or climb it!! I always struggle with limited or no gluten free options but I was told that nearly all their menu options can be done gluten free too!! The food was fresh and to a really high quality. I was recommended the chips which were homemade and delicious. Staff engaged with us as customers and made us feel really welcomed. Took my Mum here today, as i have done on numerous occasions. The food has alway been amazing. Sadly though, it was taken over 2 months ago, and the great standards obviously left with the old landlord. I had the chicken tikka. Price £15.95. It was so obviously from a tin or jar. Tasted like pataks. Which is fine, but for £15.95 you expect fresh. Then, my elderly mother had the fish n chips. She didn’t eat much of it. The chips were grey in colour, and were soggy. So obviously left from the night before. We did tell the landlord, but instead of listening to his customers he got defensive. He actually squared up to me. Luckily for him i was with my Mum or his attitude would not have ended well for him. There wasnt enough menus to go around, and this was at 12:30pm on a bank holiday Monday. The menu wr were given had obviously been wet, and most or the food on it they said they didn’t have. Bad management, no organisation and terrible food. I gave 1 star. This is only because you can’t leave less. Would i return. Definitely not. Unless next time im not with my Mum. Then i might pop in for that fight he wanted. Absolute disgrace. Cant see him running the pub for long. Personally, i wouldn’t let him run a bath. Going off the look of him, i dont think he has much experience running a bath either It was 12:10 on the monday. We were first people there. When we left, there was 10 people there. Hardly busy. As for getting personal, the landlord squared up to me wanting a fight. He made it personal. The food was overpriced and inedible. Busy or not. There was obviously no standards. As for hundreds of people eating there per week, in the past 2 month 2 people chose to leave a review. Both 1 star. I say no more

Nice country pub. With a separate tap room and lounge area. We used to come every Thursday at least 4 people sometimes 8. Bill was usually £125 ish with drinks. New management took over and first thing that happened fruit machine in a small tap room. Wide screen tv showing football We used to be able to hold a conversation but not anymore. Used to get a nice crowd in usually local people and you can have a chat but now you’re competing with tv and fruit machine. The management doesn’t seem to have a clue all people want is a nice country pub. We now have big screen tv. Food challenge. Food that wouldn’t look out of place on Blackpool prom. They seem to be clutching at straws to find something that works. And failing! The constant stream of rubbish on face book hiring staff. Hiring chef! What do people want next. Bikers night karaoke. The new management might be better suited to a Blackpool back street pub. Cause they are loosing customers here. Didn’t think it important to put bitter on last time we were in so we left and not been back. Also Wouldn’t feel comfortable paying good money to eat with a cook they got of facebook. Now he’s put a set of goal posts up. Just what you want. Thud thud thud against the wall.

As a local, we thought we'd give the farmers another go as they have a new manager. To our surprise, the prices have been hiked up considerably. So we said, well maybe its because they've got a new menu. Nope. Still have the same, pre-bought pre-battered fish, it's not fresh, the batter is as soggy as it ever was. There was one lad working, who was run ragged, no fault of his and as someone who has worked in the industry, I felt for him. But, the food wasn't his fault, the food is pure laziness and the audacity of charging more is unbelievable. We won't be returning anytime soon and certainly won't risk the food.

Disgusting the worst meal ever with an overrated price. Had gammon which I couldn't eat what wasn't raw in the middle was fat and as gammon is my favourite pub meal (and I've had a few in my time at 64!!) I've got experience!! Me and hubby went for a trip down memory lane as it's our anniversary - sad it was spoilt. My hubby's meal was not much better sausage and mash in what looked like a soup dish drowned with gravy he couldn't find the mash potato?? and absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. In total a big fat 👎👎

Since our last visit (pre-covid), this establishment has made some improvements and changes that have raised it up somewhat. The food was excellent , (Ploughman's Lunch and steak sandwich). A pretty perfect lunch with generous portions. The surroundings now have an enhanced outside area (which is essential for a rural pub in my opinion) which will be particularly enjoyable in better weather. The staff could not be faulted; pleasant and helpful and the interior decor is rustic with some interesting features like that old shop till to catch the eye. All in all we made an excellent choice.

When it arrived it wasn't the usual flat steak shape but something akin to a chunk. At 19:55 the chef went home followed 5mins later by 50% of the bar staff! That left just 1.Overnight my wife was vomiting constantly, which could only have been from the partially cooked gammon!Overall a disgusting experience, never to be repeated!

Phil & the team are taking the pub back to doing what it does best serving good homemade hearty food. The cheese & potatoe pie was delicious and left us looking forward to our next visit

Popped in on the off chance of getting some grub, none to be had, rude lady, i assume landlady, just a simple im sorry we are not serving food today would have been nice, but no just a very blunt, NOT serving food. The landlord seemed to sink his head into his pint at the bar, i asked if there was any real ale and again a very blunt answer, NOT got any! It was really quiet too for a saturday night, wont be back, need to change your attitude lady.

Firstly the waitress knocked a full drink over my friends dress whilst sat down and only knocked off for one drink Which for is poor considering my friend had to sit in a wet dress all night whilst having the meal.the meals in my opinion were average and witho it being quiet lacked any atmosphere based on my experience I wouldn't go back

This place should be condemned with the current operators running it, place is in dire need of a clean, food choice was non existent, told they had run out of stuff so we in the end had to ask what did they have. We ordered it took forever to come, it was only just ok. The mood was worsened when we could hear foul language coming from the kitchen and more alarmingly a dog barking in there!!!!! Felt sorry for the poor girl running back and too during service, sounds to me like the staff are not treated right here. Won't be back not at least until a new operator comes in as them who are running it are a joke, dirty and vile. We were all bitten by something in the carpets and came away feeling ripped off because the food was only average for the price, even the beer was off the mark....you can clearly see these people do not care about this pub, just there to ruin a once great reputation.

When we fly out of Manchester airport, we always stay in a close to this pub. It has become our Manchester ''local''. It has friendly atmosphere, a good selection of craft beers, and great food. It is always busy with local patrons, often watching on of the two Manchester soccer team games on the TV.

just driving past yesterday, decided to stop for a meal, really glad we did. waited a while for the meal to be brought out but definitely worth the wait . my partner had a small roast lamb lunch which was very generous , The lamb was excellent really moist and tasty. I had the gammon which was a nice thick gammon steak cooked to perfection which is not always easy to get right with gammon . the price was very good £22 for 2 meals and drinks . staff were very friendly , so all in all a lovely meal in nice surroundings . we would definitely visit again if we are up that way .

Visited here today with my mum for my birthday. I had the breaded brie and mother had the pea and ham soup both agreed they was great starters. We both opted for the beef casserole in a giant Yorkshire pudding this was truly amazing but was too big to finish and left no room for pudding. Excellent staff lovely food well worth a visit.

Mixed reviews here on Tripadvisor but from what we recently witnessed when dropping in for coffee was enough to ensure we’ll definitely be returning to eat. What a superb welcoming ambience. Without doubt one of the most beautifully untouched interiors you’re likely to see in an old, period inn. Not only was the roaring log fire so very welcoming, but equally matched by the bar-staff/manager and locals who were present. It’s a definite return.

Stumbled across the Farmers Arms on the way to Preston and enjoyed a generous meal. There was a choice of three roasts or mixed meat plus a good menu. I really enjoyed the lamb shank whilst my partner had a roast - both with plenty of fresh veg. It's a traditional pub that's worth a visit. If we're passing again we will definitely return.

Sunday lunch today was appalling! The place was fairly busy with a motoring club making up the majority of the clientele. Even though they had obviously booked ahead there was nowhere near enough staff on duty. Waited at the bar to be served drinks and just as it was our turn were told to wait at the table and someone would come to take our order. Others continued to get served and a further 30 minutes went by before we eventually got our drinks. We were contemplating going elsewhere when a waitress came to take the order for food. When the meal arrived it had been thrown onto the plate with roast potatoes buried beneath meat and gravy thus making them soggy. The beef was overcooked and the gravy dripped from the edge of the plate. There was a very limited choice of pudding and out of the four people on our table, two got their dessert at least 10 minutes before the others. One lot of lemon pudding was cold and the other piping hot! I asked for cream and was brought ice cream - although the waitress did get cream when asked. She was the only visible person on duty and was doing her best under difficult circumstances. Three people who came in later left without even getting a drink or having the chance to order food. Will not be going again and would definitely not recommend this place to others.

We've been here many times in the past, travelling from Liverpool because it was a great place to eat. Whilst the serving staff were pleasant and the meals were good, apart from my wife getting a badly burnt Yorkshire pudding on her roast dinner, the time we waited was very poor. Over 30 minutes for our main and over 20 for desserts. I would understand if the place was full but including us there were only 4 tables eating. My wife received a very cheap piece of Apple pie, whilst I got a dry chocolate fudge cake. We have recommended this place to lots of people in the past but no more, we will not be back again either which is a real shame as we used to love it. Also they need to pay attention to their glass cleaning facilities as my glass was less than clean

Looked like I got the short straw here. All the other light bites meals looked good but £6.95 for two tiny poor quality sausage. Quantity I can cope with although it did look more child's meal than light bites. But the cheep sausage was awful!

Awful. Went for a drink - asked could i pay by card, was told yes, then tried to pay and was told by the same person that it was a 10 pound minimim to use card. Why i wasn't told that in the first place, who knows. Husband ordered an ale, barrel was empty so had to be replaced and pulled threw - nothing wrong with that - however when you see the barmaid then taste your husbands pint and simply fill it up again and serve it. Disgusting.

We arrived on a Saturday evening after our nearby hotel restaurant could not accommodate us!!! We dined at a nice table in the bar area and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I had the veggie lasagne (not a veggie myself) and my wife had the sirloin whilst our 6 year old grandson had chicken goujons. The food was fantastic, the wine was a good quality and the service was second to none. The table and cuttlery were fresh and very clean and the atmosphere good.
