Not the best food on Sunday Lunch - they did take ameal off the bill (we weren't expecting that but very good of them). However none of them were very hot.

Booked a table almost a week ago. Checked with them to confirm that steak night is on and left my number in case of issues. Travel miles to get there to be told they don't have a table for us because virtually all of the pub is booked for an 18th. All the while they are still advertising their steak night on Facebook. Everywhere else booked. So thanks for wasting our time and ruining our evening. My advice would be not to bother going out of your way to this poorly run place.

Visited this establishment this evening. We were really looking forward to our meal too. When we arrived there was no one to greet us even though it wasn't busy at 6pm on a Friday evening. We were shown to a table after some confusion as to where we would be sitting. Main menu brought to the table but not the Friday night special one. We waited twenty mins to get our main. Half an hour for a pudding. Had to go to the bar to request the dessert menu. Used dinner plates left on the table though when the menu brought over. Had to go to the bar to order more drinks . Waitresses stood at bar chatting again. My dessert Eton mess was luke warm the sticky toffee pudding had a table spoon of custard with it. The food passable the service very poor. Hence no tip left. Not smart looking staff.

I have used the Plough as my local eatery for a few years now but my recent experience has just put me off completely. Booked a table for 4 (needn’t have bothered as no else in) ordered drinks & food, so far so good, food arrived warm not hot so soon went cold no veg on plate just steak & chips 2 onion rings and 1 uncooked tomato. The other meals ordered didn’t fair any better, at the end of the main meals the staff gave us the impression that they were expecting us to leave but to their surprise we ordered pudding, we ask for coffee but was informed the machine was switched off. I paid over £130 for this experience I would have been better off going to a local chippy. Never again.

Friendly pub with good food. We visited tonight for fish Friday. The batter on the fish was doggy my hubby had the normal portion and couldn't eat his batter. I had the small portion, and although soggy was edible. The staff were friendly and did offer a replacement but we were half way through. Chips were really good. We also couldn't ring as the phone was constantly engaged which we passes on. We will be back as we love this place.

Awful food. Ordered steak and chips and could not believe the chef allowed the meal to be served. The chips were disgusting, overcooked, greasy and limp. The steak was extremely fatty and some mouthfuls were gristly and difficult to chew. I have posted a photo but only of the chips as the other half of my plate was full of chewed up pieces of steak and fat which I found difficult to swallow. I did complain and only received a £4.56 discount (my meal cost £22.50!) Won't be returning again.

Unfortunately I won't be returning to this establishment. We pre-booked a table of 3 with a dog, upon arriving we had a warm greeting and were shown to our table. The host/waiter said they'd be back to take our drinks order, completely fine as that is normal process and it gave us time to get settled and look at the food menu. 10 minutes passed and nobody had come to take our drink order. A couple who hadn't prebooked arrived and sat at a table near us, they immediately asked for their drinks and their drinks arrived very quickly. Our table still hadn't had anyone come to take our drink order, so I went to the bar to prompt them. The waitress then came and took both our drink and food order. We asked for a jug of cold water for the table, and also a water bowl for the dog. The waitress said she'd also bring the dog some treats. We waited another 10 minutes and no drinks arrived. When they did arrive, the waitress brought one glass of water just for one person, not a jug for the whole table like we'd asked for. No water or treats also came for the dog, once our mains arrived I had to ask the waiter again for some water for him. The food was okay (roast chicken dinner), lots of meat and veg but only two small roast potatoes that were rock solid, almost impossible to eat. My partner had ordered the Hawaiian burger and asked for sweet potato fries instead of the standard French fries, he was aware that there was an extra charge to this (completely fine) but when his meal arrived he had received both French fries and sweet potato fries, causing unnecessary waste as he couldn't eat it all. When the bill arrived, we had been over charged by £17. When we queried this with the waitress she checked it on the till, then came back to say the bill had subtotalled twice, hence the extra charge. She was apologetic and gave us the correct bill, but I dread to think if any other patrons had been overcharged like us and maybe not checked the bill carefully. The three of us wanted to pay separately, one of us went to the bar to pay for their share, the host/waiter asked us if we had had a nice time, we gave honest feedback but didn't receive an apology. We felt that our table had been neglected to focus on the bigger parties that were in. We won't be returning.

We have been coming to this pub for lunch for many years. In Summer it is very pleasant to sit out in the garden. The current manager is excellent overseeing quality food and service. The staff that are recruited are all efficient and friendly providing a very welcoming atmosphere. Latterly we have been going on Wednesday (late lunchtime). It seems Wednesday is the manager’s day off . However the bar and restaurant are very well run by Jen. She is very efficient and above all is very welcoming to myself, my wife , and our friendly Bulldog who loves the place and the welcome she always gets. If she could vote it would definitely be 10 out of 10. I think it is very important to create a welcoming atmosphere as well as good service and food. Congratulations to the management and staff for achieving this. Well done to all the staff and management at the Plough at Euxton .

Cold miserable Friday lunchtime. Opened the pub door felt the warm of the heating. Staff member gave a choice of tables to sit at and gave the menus. A good choice of dishes and one not on the menu he informed us about was the game pie. That was the one for the two of us. It came in a dish with a piece of crust sitting on top with peas and MASHED potatoes. This was hot and tasty with large pieces of meat and great gravy. Very nice. Good pint of cask beer, great service and prices which are very good at this time

Been here a few times now. It's great! Had a fabulous meal for my birthday on New Years Eve. Between us, we ate probably a bit too much, but every part of the meal was delicious, was made from fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The venison was amazing. The small platters are really quite large. The meatballs were my favourite, closely followed by the pulled pork on flat bread. Chocolate cheesecake... love it or hate it I suppose .. I loved it; really creamy and rich, with a scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream. The staff were all kept busy but managed to keep their smiles the whole time. I noticed a great daytime offer whilst we were there and will definitely be returning soon to try that 😀 Thanks for a great time 🥂🎂 and another delicious meal.

I told a lady server who took the meal away & exchanged the beef for turkey. Not a good presentation of food. The food was really tasty, excellent quality, piping hot and portion sizes were more than enough. Two small gripes: nobody came to take our drinks order, had to flag down a waitress. Our starters actually arrived before our drinks. Despite pre-ordering our food during the week as a table of 10, one of our party’s main courses was forgotten and he had to wait for it which was a bit awkward. Oddly enough the same thing happened at another restaurant the last time we went out as a family! I have to say though that all staff were so friendly and warm, apologised for the error and went out of their way to make sure everything was great. Despite being a pub the food was restaurant quality at reasonable prices. I’ll definitely go again, really impressed and expectations surpassed!

Well what a joke of a visit this place is. After ringing to book a table we were told they were fully booked and could not take anymore tables . We accepted this and booked in at another near by restaurant. As we were driving to our table we had to drive past the plough and were amazed to see barely any cars in the carpark. We took a chance and parked up and went inside and were instantly met by rude staff who told us we could not have a table as they were all reserved. There was around 5 tables in the whole place in use . We sat and had a drink and were there close to an hour and none of the tables became in use. Clearly they do not need customers as the staff were happy to just stand around on there phones and make very untasteful jokes that customers could here( the few that were in there anyway). After speaking to a few friends it seems a lot of people have had the same poor experiences and were even told 2 weeks ago that they stop food at 6.45pm now at the start of the week. We used to love this place but the standards are so far from the plough we used to love. To finish off the visit we had to use the toilets which looked like they had been neglected for several weeks. out of the 3 ladies cubicles 2 had no toilet roll, there was no soap to wash our hands and as we saw staff using these toilets it does raise the question as to there own hygiene procedures. I can honestly say this is the worst experience we have had from a restaurant and we did not even manage to eat!! Embarrassing effort of customer service . For a trade that relies on repeat business the plough has got this all wrong and no wonder the place was dead . When there is the travellers rest and the rose and crown a stones throw away i suggest avoiding the plough at all costs .

Sadly the Plough is showing signs of age and is in need of a bit of a refurb. The hand drier in the gents broke a year or so ago and was never fixed. Instead a paper towel dispenser was put up, which does the job ok but the bin is always overflowing with used towels and the wall where the old drier used to be has never been repainted and looks a mess. Also out of the 2 wash basins one of them has had a broken tap for a couple of months now which again hasn't been fixed! The tables always feel sticky to the touch and the smells coming from the kitchen are quite off putting. Generally the whole place doesn't feel clean! The food is ok but pricey and sometimes there are availability issues with the menu. Definitely not as good as it used to be.

We had been recommended the plough by friends so as a group of four who don’t get chance to get together much we went here on recommendation. Arrived and waited quite a while for drinks. We were provided with menus and were told 3 of the starters had sold out. Not sure how as the place was not busy and it was only 7pm. My friend ordered her mains (fish pie), but then we were told that they had sold out of this too, after ordering so she had to pick something else. Service was not great at all and there were only three tables including us in so unsure why it was so bad. Food was just OK. Definitely not as good as we had been led to believe. We were enjoying our drinks and the company, to then be told at 9:20, it was last orders. On a Saturday night that seems very early indeed. So that was our night ended earlier than we had planned. We got our bill to see they had still charged us for the fish pie as well as the replacement dish my friend ordered. Thankfully we did realise and this was corrected. But just worth noting to others to check your bill. All in all a very disappointing visit and we will not be returning nor recommending to others. Think the owners of this place, definitely need to be improving this pub as it used to be a lovely place to visit and food had always been good.

We will be returning soon.

We have had some good lunches here as the staff excellent re service etc but felt the Summer Menu confusing options and a reduced selection .We also note this time the quality of food and preparation was not up to previous standard yet prices seem to have risen and they do need to up their game with so much competition around !

Been going to a few places round the leyland area for 6 months and doing a review on most of them. Very disappointed on this one. Ordered a roast dinner. Meats chicken beef and ham. With the usual veg, spuds, Yorkshire puds. It was tasteless , gravy runny, Yorkshire pud burnt, then they wanted extra for cauliflower chesse, which we ordered totally disgusting 🤢 They need to sort these out asap. Marks out of ten 5

Came in for a catch up with some friends, unfortunately there were no Sunday roasts but we appreciated that they had been busy earlier in the day at had obviously just ran out. Opted for the pan fried hake fillet. Would definitely recommend!

After visiting a terminally ill family member we decided to book our Sunday meal On arrival we were told the restaurant had no roast lunches - ok we accepted that as the tea did look busy After asking for the specials board we decided to opt for an alternative of steak and ale pie x3 The waitress then had to break the news of sorry no steak and ale pie!! We decided after a difficult day to leave questioning why take bookings as there wasn’t much left on the menu The manager and another colleague were quite aggressive and was unconcerned that they weren’t able to oblige their customers This isn’t our first visit but it will be our last

Went for my sons birthday. Was greeted by Harry who was very friendly. We requested a table outside which was lovely. Abbie took our drinks order and they arrived promptly. Harry looked after us and was very charming with a fab sense of humour. The food was delicious and was well presented. Will definitely be back.😊

A smaller Spoons and this one was rammed for a midweek afternoon. Seemed very popular though and clearly a winner for the folk of Chorley.

Restaurant has significantly declined compared to past experiences over the years. Musty damp smell as you walk in 3/4 Empty restaurant on what should be the peak time (this in itself isn’t an issue however was not a good indication of things to come). Waited over an hour for food in an empty restaurant despite asking twice where it was. Food arrived cold, burnt and inedible The only reason this got a poor rating over terrible is because the staff were nice. It’s like they accept they know things are awful but it is out of their hands. Didn’t complain about the food as the overall ethos I felt that this was not worth doing as nothing would be acted upon. I only give constructive feedback in person if I feel it’s helpful and will be acted on. This pub feels like the decline is so bad, it’s not worth complaining in person. I’m only posting here so other people don’t waste their time and money. Only restaurant meal we have ordered takeaway to collect on way home whilst our meal is in front of us. We saw the funny side and laughed for 20 minutes about this. We consider this experience a lesson learned, £40 odd quid of education and to never come here again.
