Fantastic nothing else to say a must to visit food out off this world steak pie is a must and Sunday roast it wow great not frozen rubbish care and attention is the key and the manager as got it off to a tea

Family of 7 booked for Sunday lunch/dinner at a busy time. All 7 meals thoroughly enjoyed. The food quality for both meat eaters and vegetarian was of a very high standard and plentiful too. Friendly and attentive service even though very busy. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Great price too.

The setting is lovely. And the menu does have a good range of food, could do with one or two more vegan options though. The staff are extremely helpful and can always recommend. We have been twice in the last few weeks with different friends and really enjoyed our time. Will deffo be back again.

We booked a table for 6 on a Wednesday evening. We didn't order starters just main course and desserts. Food was good and everyone enjoyed their meals but the service was a little lacking not due to the team it was more down to they seemed short staffed and we had to wait a long time for orders to be taken and especially for desserts to be delivered Food included their signature burgers, steak & ale pie, fish and chips and chicken and chorizo kebab. Desserts included double chocolate brownie, lemon tart, brownie sundae It's a nice pub/restaurant just need another couple of pairs of hands to get service right

My husband and I have driven past Hoghton Arms a number of times, whenever we’ve exited the M65 at Junction 3, and said to each other that we should try the food there sometime, mainly because of its countryside kerb appeal. We made a spontaneous decision to call in this time, just before 2pm, on the off chance that they might be able to accommodate us. It seemed quite busy but the staff acknowledged us immediately and we were seated at a table not long afterwards. We were asked if we would like to order drinks straight away, which was great as it saved some time plus it helped curb our hunger, having skipped breakfast. My husband chose the prawn cocktail starter which disappeared quickly, so it was good. He chose a pie for his main, I had sirloin steak, and we shared an apple and cherry crumble for dessert. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals which were served hot, cooked to perfection and within a reasonable waiting time. I particularly enjoyed the chargrilled flavour of my steak; that was a very yummy touch! All the staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. The prices are very reasonable too. It was a real pleasure to dine at Hoghton Arms. My husband and I were admiring the interior decoration as we waited in between courses. We particularly liked the relaxing, muted colour scheme, the magnificent timber roof structure, and the amusing but attractive, grand chandelier made from cutlery. We were pleasantly surprised to see that dogs are welcome too as our golden retriever will undoubtedly like to join us sometime. We would not hesitate to recommend Hoghton Arms and we have already reserved a table in a few days when we intend to return with another two couples to celebrate a birthday.

Considering that we were not late diners on a Sat night it was disappointing that 2 of our diners could not have their choice of lamb shank. Perhaps the staff should tell diners when they are seated before being told when they tried to order? My mixed grill was okay-ish. The rump steak was as tough as old boots and the egg wasn’t soft. We had been loyal to the Royal Oak for many years until a poor experience (without a response to my concerns) so we thought we would give you guys a go

Great experience today here , I thought the 3 x course meal for £17:99 was great value for money . I had , fried garlic mushrooms, then steak with peppercorn sauce , then crumble and custard . Despite the snow and minus 4 temp outside, when we walked in it was lovely and warm, we were seated straight away (had booked online) and our drinks order taken. The waiter who served us was really nice and quite funny, he helped us navigate the menu and was super helpful when taking our orders. The food arrived quickly and was hot, we all had a different main and they were lovely. We had previously visited before Christmas for the festive menu and this revisit shows the standard of service yet again. We will definitely go back 😁

Visited Houghton Arms which I have been doing for years and years. On arrival around lunch time the place was fairly quiet and we found a nice spot. We noticed that there were no menus on the tables and this would have been just after 12 ish. I then noticed some menus on another table so I took one and was told by a member of staff they are not the right menus, after about ten seconds of silence I asked for a menu and was greeted with a little sharpness and that they would bring one over shortly. I then overheard the same member of staff shortly after complaining that they had no help today which again made me feel like it was somehow our / my fault for visiting.The food was fine and we at least enjoyed that but it’s just a shame the overall service is poor.

Very accessible just off the M25, modern and comfortable very welcoming. Lovely friendly and professional staff Quality food at reasonable prices, also caters for families of all ages. Extensive menu including a 'kids' menu. Although reservations are 'time limited ' on very busy days ,there is no sense of being 'rushed'. Ours was a table for 9 members of the family (ages from 75 to 6years) Our given slot was 2.30pm until 5.15pm (plenty of time). All food was served 'hot' and was cooked perfectly. Thank you to Andrea our waitress for all her attention.

We was soon to being served for our orders. The food is always nice and the gammon was medium cooked to perfection. All staff are friendly and efficient.

Great place to celebrate a birthday in, excellent food and service, they even found candles for us when we had forgotten to bring them! Good to know is that they are very dog friendly

Unless on holiday, this was one of the few times that we've had a lunch on Christmas Day somewhere other than at home. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, particularly not having to clear up after our guests have left. Of particular note, despite working at pace, the service was excellent and friendly throughout. The meal quality and portion size certainly lived up to our expectations; everything was pipeing hot! For us, the cost represented real value for money and we will certainly consider going back again next year.

Hi , lovely meal , staff were great no problem with anything- the only thing I would say is we were expecting a crackling fire and Christmas music - carols or something The atmosphere was a bit flat tbh and I did ask a member of staff if we could get some music on and he said it wasn’t something they did

Nice large carpark and welcomed as soon as we walked through the door by friendly staff and shown to our table. Food was served quickly and piping hot and well presented, plenty of good and tasty food on our plates and all at a suprisingly reasonable price, waitress could not have done better ,we do plan on making a return visit in the new year.

Went here after a family day out on the chance they’d have a table for 6. The staff were really lovely & kindly seated us. Service was prompt & we all ordered food, which came piping hot & a good portion, we all really enjoyed our food it was delicious & reasonably priced, lovely big pub & was warm & cosy

Just a generic Xmas dinner was quite bland and the dessert was ruined with a berry coulais on top of a warm Xmas pudding I couldn’t eat it and told the waiter who said I don’t like it either haha won’t be recommending

It's really nice inside but unfortunately I didn't have the best time there. The food portions were small apart from the chocolate melt in the middle cake but it didn't melt in the middle, it was very dry and disappointing. Service was very slow, we waited a while for the food to come out, then waited longer for our plates to be taken, then waited even longer for our desserts. We didn't wait for the servers to come back to take our plates from dessert and just went to the bar to pay. A quick lunch out turned into 2 and a half hours.

We were a large party of 30 people we pre ordered & everything came out in good time & was lovely it was all done by family names & was very organised. All staff were lovely so thankyou very much!

Always attentive staff and we had a voucher for money off which is good value. Food is tasty, we had lasagne. Could have been improved with Mulled wine. Would have gone for the roast but £20 is rather expensive.

Read the reviews and got pretty excited to try this place with my partner. We had starter each, soup of the day for me which was nice can't say it wasn't but he had prawn cocktail but the prawns weren't very nice and wasn't much to rave about either. His fish and chips as a main was tastier than my chicken burger at least, tasted like a frozen one you'd buy at the shop (chicken only) the bun and chips were ok but unfortunately for the price it was a little disappointing to be honest. Served with a home brew beer and Malibu and lemonade to wash it down with. The home brew didn't go down well but unfortunately that's what you get for trying something new. Maybe we'll come back and try again but not for now.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Venue and ambience are perfect for a great social gathering or a simple meal for two. Food has never disappointed in any visit we have had.

It's not often we go out. But when we do, Hoghton Arms, tends to be a first choice venue as the food is always good. If we are on a spare of the moment visit, sometimes there are no free tables which proves how popular this restaurant is. But that's our loss not yours, we need to be more organised at times.

The first time we've been Food Good, Service good, an enjoyable lunch with friends. Will return in the near future for evening meal.

First time here and did not disappoint. The venue itself is warm and welcoming, we were served by manager David who looked after us and helped us with food recommendations when we honestly couldn't choose as the choices were all great. Ended up going for starters, mains & desserts, partner and I both went for the signature burger and it was amazing! For dessert had the crumple and it was beautiful. Great place, great food and must mention the amazing service by David.

The food was great and the service exceptional insomuch the child in our party wanted a pizza which is not on the menu but the waitress spoke to the chef who offered to make one for her. Now that’s service.

Me and my partner were recommend the hoghton arms by an old colleague and it definitely didn’t disappoint! We came in at 5 on a Monday night, the place looks amazing, inside and out. At arrival there was probably 3 other tables as well as a couple of drinkers at the bar We were welcomed, seated and served by David who couldn’t have done more for us. Being big food people and having driven for about 30 minutes, we decided to order a selection of the starters (sticky chicken, halloumi fries, chicken strips, fishcakes, lamb kofta, garlic bread) , their signature burger and the 10oz ribeye. Followed by a sticky toffee and a chocolate brownie. All the food was faultless, fantastically presented and the steak cooked to perfection. We made a return visit a couple weeks later and again everything was just as good as the first time, Imogen seated and served us and did a great job! We plan to return soon!

We decided last minute to have a family meal. We booked using the automated phone line. Quick and very easy. We arrived slightly early but was shown straight to our table. The restaurant was clean warm and friendly with a really good atmosphere. We ordered some drinks while we looked at the menu which came within a few minutes. We ordered our food and too came very quickly ( about 10- 15 mins.) All of our food was perfectly cooked well presented and arrived together. It was delicious. Our waiting staff couldn't do enough and were so polite and friendly. Cannot recommend enough.

Food is very good and staff are very friendly u can take ur dog aswell it's very pet friendly just be careful we're u sit outside if u don't smoke or like the smell of it as sometimes people sit in the no smoking area while eating

After previous visits bring ok wd thought we'd book for a Sunday roast. Calamari starter was way over cooked and like rubber. The pate was ok but 2 of the smallest pieces of toast which meant had to eat the pate neat. Both ordered a beef roast. Both plates came with Turkey. Plates taken back and same plate brought back to the table with beef on and scraps of Turkey. I have to say the service was poor and the more senior staff need to learn front of house skills. The only positive was my sons burger which he enjoyed hence the score of 2. Sorry but we won't be back.

Everything was ok, the food was hot and even had a pint of neck oil and pudding with a couple of coffees to finish off just a shame about the clientele that were a bit on the hillbilly side that gave me the creeps.

The service was amazing from entering to leaving. Food was absolutely amazing. Extremely better than we expected. Everything from presentation, delivery, temperature, quality, taste and quantity where spot on. Felt like we where in a 5 star restraunt. Best trio Sunday roast we have ever had. My only quibble was when we were asked if we wanted cauliflower cheese and mash with the meal, we assumed they were included in the price and it was up to us if we had them or not. However at no point were we told they were chargeable extras until I saw them on the receipt. Even though it was amazing quality, had we known we had to pay extra, we would have declined or only got one portion. It needs to be stated to customers when taking the order. Apart from this, we will definitely be returning for Sunday dinner maybe once a month for a date night.

Amazing!!! The first time my husband and I visited we went for a lunch. The food was fantastic and at a great price too. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had my parents visiting from Cornwall so decided to re visit for an evening meal with my parents and my children. All the food was again fantastic, it was much busier yet this did not affect the standard of food or service. The ambiance is brilliant and the music is of great taste. We will definitely be coming back. 5***** all round. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

We celebrated my Mums 80th birthday here. The staff couldn't do enough for us and made her feel like a Queen. The food was excellent, served hot, and all dishes arrived on out table within in minutes of each other. Impressive with a party of eleven. I was very impressed.
