Food excellent as usual however disappointed to have a 12% Service Charge slapped on my bill. Not had this before. We have always tipped but not always being capable of it being a substantial tip, but our gratitude for the service was always there. Spoilt what had been an excellent evening.

What on earth has happened to this pub? I've been coming to this pub for 20 years and have seen change hands many a time, but I despair for the current state of this once great pub. Tracksuit wearing drug addicts propping up the bar, screaming and shouting every five minutes whilst people are trying to enjoy a quiet drink and/or eat their food. Management seriously needs to get a grip of the clientele and put an over serving policy in place, the atmosphere is often on a knife edge. Management, you should be ashamed of yourselves, leaving young bar staff as the only staff on site to deal with the absolute cretins your pub now seems to attract.

We drove here for Sunday lunch on a friend’s recommendation. Ate a tasty soup followed by a huge serve of roast with plenty of veggies. There were five different veg, all cooked well and full of flavour. Mixed roast is also available for an extra pound or two. The other meal was a tasty homemade meat pie with mushy peas. Both meals were well worth the drive, service was excellent and prices were good. Note they’re cash only some come prepared. Highly recommended.

Wasn’t expecting too much but was very pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, lot of seating in and out, and a delicious lunch.. excellent club sandwich and my two sisters loved their rarebits (with a twist!) good drinks and reasonable price. .will be back. Historical note: my auntie met her husband in the disco in the fort about 60 years ago. Good to see it has a new purpose.

Went for breakfast with friends, I've been here before but our server siobiann made a big difference to our visit, polite and quick with everything. Couldn't be more helpful a real credit to the establishment. Hope to see her smiling face around the restaurant again. Great work

We waited about 10 mins for fish to be cooked at lunchtime. Whilst waiting, I noticed the pies looked a bit pale. Ordered small and large cod with large chips. Initially we were impressed with the size of the large portions, the chips could feed 2 people but the fish turned out to be heavily battered. Also the fish itself is over-salted, so the taste was not great, plus there was a lot of oil pooling from the fish which you don't normally see. Vinegar tastes of nothing. However the curry sauce was mild and better than expected. They gave us several forks and napkins for free. Service was fine, business is cash only. If I returned to New Brighton I'd probably try the Seaside Cafe a few doors along instead.
