We (two of us) visited at 15.40 for a coffee/tea and a cake cost £14.10 which felt a bit expensive it was served in takeaway polystyrene containers which didnt impress us. Thought possibly cafe myst be closing at 4pm so accepted the situation but no cafe closed at 5pm. Very unexceptional and environmentally unfriendly experience wont be repeating.

Good service, great cake! Some reviews have said expensive, coffee, tea and cake were good value. £2.40 for a can of coke is definitely to be avoided.

Visited for pre theatre dining with two friends. Service was slow and drinks order was incorrect but we accepted that. One guest had chicken which was like leather, the others had fish and chips which is usually excellent. Chips were fine but the fish was poorly cooked. The batter was rock hard but the fish was rubbery and undercooked. Complained but waitress was not particularly bothered and told us that the regular chef wasn’t there. This is irrelevant and irritating- food should be cooked and edible. Other diners complained too so we were not alone but no price reduction was offered. We will think twice before we come here again as this is the second time that customer service has been lacking

Fantastic Afternoon Tea! Visited today and had a fantastic experience. Beautiful food and drinks served by Ben who was a delightful host. Tea, coffee and water all perfect along with 3 amazing afternoon teas on 2 tier cake stands. What we couldn’t eat Ben put into a box for us to take home. Would certainly recommend, as the table was reserved, we were seated in a great spot plus along with first class customer service then what’s not to enjoy. Also saw some great looking jacket potato’s being delivered to tables. Will certainly go back to try one out. Did notice can of coke was £2.40 which in anyone books is rather expensive and maybe needs looking at.

The food was delicious homemade sausage roll cakes deserts sandwiches and the tea and lattes were plentiful we all came away really happy and with full belly’s and leftovers for later . We all said we would highly recommend the afternoon tea . So thank you for a lovely lunch all the staff at the floral pavilion

Visited with a friend for a meal prior to a show which we do quite frequently. Fish and chips excellent as usual. Dessert on menu was apple crumble and custard. I requested the crumble with ice cream instead of crumble and was informed that ‘ the kitchen won’t do that ‘. When I asked if the request could be made to the kitchen staff I was informed that there was no point as they won’t change the menu. As ice cream is always available and the custard was being served separately to the crumble I was surprised by this response. I will return as it’s convenient for me to do so but this attitude is not the best.

I simply could not believe it. £2.40 for a can of diet Fanta 😲 and served without even a straw or a paper cup. Luckily this was all I needed. I didn't look at the price of anything else, probably still in shock at the Fanta price. It's no wonder the place was quiet. 31p is the probable cost of a can wholesale, £2.40 for a can is absolute daylight robbery.

Came here today 2pm no cakes ect left ordered coffee and a tea, I was asked if I would have them in take away cups, I said but there’s loads of cup behind you, he said we may get busy later and we will need them, said we’re sitting inside not going out so would like a proper cup. Tall lad behind counter had a very bad attitude. Several Tables were full of empty cups and plates and not cleaned in the time we were there, didn’t look under staffed either. This was our first and last visit here.

Visited the cafe about 12.30 today. Ordered food three teas and two lattes with food. The teas were served in three individual teapots but with only two small jugs of milk. When I requested a third the very unhelpful unfriendly person serving me asked me "well how much milk do you usually use" A strange question to say the least! Later four plated meals came without any cutlery and when one of our group went to get some she found that there were no forks in the cutlery container. She politely asked the same previously unhelpful server for some forks. He again exercised customer service at its lowest level by just throwing forks in the cutlery container on a nearby side table instead of handing some to he group member waiting at the counter The food was poorly presented and the bread for sandwiches was cheap looking,,too thick and very unappetising. Not a happy visit, not good food, very poor customer service. Maybe staff retraining is needed for some individuals.Would definitely not recommend.. What possible reason is there to return?

We have been coming here every two weeks for the last eighteen months while on grandparental duties. This should be the premier cafe in New Brighton - comfortable, spacious and pleasant surroundings, great views, decent pleasant and efficient staff, clean toilets, etc. Then why do I feel so underwhelmed each time we eat here. Initially there was a decent menu with a good choice throughout the day but now this has changed to one that is quite limited to what some people may think is a modern menu plus nachos with everything! You cannot even get a sausage (and other items) after noon and while the jacket potatoes are a good size they have a small amount of filling and not even a pat of butter. They will, now, not even heat our grandsons homemade meal and although this is more of a customer service issue issue it has not been a restriction in other, similar establishments.

Can't comment on the theatre or shows, only the cafe. Been before and was not impressed with the service in the cafe or the menu. However, returned recently and improvements have been made. For all the issues I have experienced in the past the venue is a now very good, there is plenty of space and seating, what is more, really nice views across the river. I would say a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of New Brightons busy area, a good meeting place for a coffee and cake and a quiet chat.

Alas we arrived, settled down and found no fish and chips and they had run out of fish finger hot rolls. Apparently there is a new Management Team. The sun was shining this morning (31/1/23) and we decided that lunch, followed by a walk on the prom would be a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. That was before we realised that the Café at the Floral is being run into the ground! I should state here that husband and I are regular customers at the Floral Café, we're local, and as we always enjoyed ourselves, have recommended the place to many people. We certainly wouldn't recommend it now! Went up to the Panoramic Lounge, as always, there were plenty of tables free, got settled, picked up the menu, and was appalled to find they no longer serve Fish & Chips or Scouse, the breakfast menu is sadly depleted, and the Sandwich, Sub Roll, and Baked Potato menu is bland and boring. On line menus are still showing Scouse, and Full English, amongst other things no longer available! We wanted to stay and enjoy the view, so husband went downstairs to order 2 Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Sub Rolls. Told "We haven't got any of those left", at 12-20 p.m. on a Tuesday! Seriously, which clown does the stock ordering? It's bad enough that we have to suffer seeing that awful juggling clown on the prom, but at least he has all the balls in the air, which is more than can be said for the management of the Floral! Apparently, the first floor kitchen, which used to prepare all the food, has been closed, and all food is now prepared in the tiny ground floor kitchen, which cannot cope with lots of different items, so the menu has been pared back to within an inch of it's life! We decided to take our business elsewhere, and recommend that you all do the same! We often treated ourselves to an Afternoon Tea, but they have raised the prices and removed so many items from that menu, that we no longer bother, and instead go to The Waiting Room in Victoria Road. I have seen the Floral Pavilion suffer more than enough times over my 65 years, as a resident of New Brighton, (my family has been a part of New Brighton since the very start) and am not remotely impressed with what's happening to it now! So please, not to put too fine a point on it, pull your fingers out, and start making the Floral Pavilion and it's Café somewhere to be proud of again!

My friend and I went upstairs in the cafe for the view. We sat down there was a couple of waitresses around so we asked could we order. They said that you have to go downstairs to order. So I went down two flights of stairs ordered soup and sandwiches and a pot of tea for two. I then had to carry the teas up the stairs myself or go in the lift but as I was holding a tray was impossible to press the lift button. Then the waitress several minutes brought us the soups and sandwiches. She pointed to the other side of the cafe and said they are in the cutlery tray over there. She had just walked past the cutlery so she should have brought them to us. Napkins we had to get ourselves. Sandwiches and soup were delicious but a very weird set up, so for that reason I will not be back. My friend(who has just had a hip op ) asked could she take our order and she said that you have to do it yourself. Disappointed and wondering what they do it if people are disabled or very elderly.

Returned to the counter for an exchange, to be told "sometimes it curdles" I had to argue my case even though there were visible floaters in the tea. Staff most unhelpful and reluctant to replace the full order, walking away and leaving me to have to ask again for a replacement. Making me feel most uncomfortable! Eventually the order was replaced, however again the milk was sour. Didn't bother to go back and complain as it wasn't worth the hassle we just won't return and never recommend. We sat upstairs, with a great view towards the Mersey and Liverpool docks. The perfect spot to eat lunch. We were somewhat alarmed when we saw the reviews here, but we were already outside the Pacilion and couldn’t see any other option, so decided to give it a go. I’m so glad we did. We had a club sandwich, which was tasty and much better quality than the last one I had in a good hotel in the UK. It was a bit slower to come than ideal. But with such a lovely view from our table, we didn’t mind the wait. Some tables hadn’t been cleared when we sat down. But while we were there they were emptied of plates and cleaned. Toilets are spacious (it’s a theatre) and were very clean. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The disabled will find it’s excellent. A lift to all floors, and nice step free entrance. Our lunch there just made our whole day a little bit better.

Our table had a great view. Potentially such a nice situation for an afternoon tea. However the afternoon tea experience was very disappointing overall and not worth the price. I had to go and find staff to serve me. I was given a pot if tea - no choice of teas. We were given a very nice 3 tier stand that contained slightly dry, bland finger sandwiches with a nice sausage roll and an OK cheese roll. The scone with cream and jam was nice. The further 5 small cakes were OK but just standard cheap shop shelf cakes that I could have bought anywhere. Our table was fine but the rest of the room was untidy - tables not cleared, lots of things stacked around. I had taken my mum for a nice afternoon out - she enjoyed herself but I won't return to the cafe. There wasn't anything wrong, but the food quality was low and was poor value for money and the surroundings could have easily been so much better.

Called in for a snack/drinks after a walk in New Brighton. Food counter is obvious and menus out on tables and its all an extended area from the Floral Pavilion entrance on the ground floor. Food/service good and prices are reasonable and there are plenty of "Dog Friendly" notices. Loads of customers seemed to have taken them up on this (we're talking here about roughly 50/50 humans/animals) and most seemed sure that we all love dogs. Even the wet smelly ones (dogs that is), those on long leads so they can come and beg and sniff around you while you're eating. Unfortunately too late we discovered that although you use the same counter you can eat/drink upstairs where apparently dogs don't go. Maybe the cafe could put clear directions to a "Dog Free Zone" though if we call in again we'll know exactly where to go. First floor.

Over recent years we have enjoyed visits to this cafe when smart friendly staff from Carrington Catering provided excellent quality food and drinks in a delightful location at the Panoramic Lounge overlooking the River. Today we went for a birthday tea and were terribly disappointed. We arrived at 3 p.m.; the tea was served in canteen quality mugs with a tea bag instead of cups & saucers with a teapot, there were no scones for a cream tea (how could they run out by 3 p.m.?) poor quality serviettes & cutlery, we were expected to carry everything up to the Lounge instead of the waiter bringing it as in the past; where have all the smart helpful staff gone? So sad that this unique quality cafe has been replaced by a new company with very poor standards.

Ordered a latte and espresso which were average/OK. Please can you not fill latte drinks to the brim when customers are expected to balance them on a tray up two flights of stairs with no napkins available to mop up, or a saucer provided. Tray needed a wipe beforehand too. Espresso was served in a regular coffee/tea cup, not an espresso cup. No paper napkins offered or on display (which was needed later for tiny latte spillage). No stainless steel teaspoons offered or on display, just wooden sticks. Also told not to enter the Panoramic Lounge on arrival in the Panoramic Lounge by one female staff who was sat on her own doing some paperwork. It was after 3pm on a Sunday, no one cleaning there, the next performance was 7ish, so we had to go down a flight of stairs into the 1st floor to join a couple of other pairs of customers to then hear the same message from the same staff member being shouted out repeatedly to other new customers who just wanted to enjoy the famous view of the fort with a quick coffee. Why wasn’t it roped off instead? Left a comment card on my tray with same comments. Having had several really good pre-theatre meals at this venue, we were really disappointed and shocked at the deterioration in the food. The evening started badly when, on arrival, we were asked if we would like any drinks - only to be told on ordering that sadly there was no wine or beer as the restaurant had had a busy weekend. I truly believed it was some sort of joke but sadly not. I must say though that the manager went out of his way to get me a glass of wine from somewhere. My husband settled for a coke. The food was really awful and there was no gluten free menu - merely what didn't have gluten already added to it. I chose fish which was awful; soggy with garden peas and what appeared to be tinned or processed boiled potatoes scattered on top. Very unappealing. The chicken choice was equally as bad. The food was on a par with mass produced school dinners and the portions were extremely small. In the past, the food has been exceptional value for money for a pre-theatre meal but sadly things have gone badly wrong somewhere.

Not a great customer experience to say the least and we certainly won’t be going back when there are so many places to eat in New Brighton.

We used to love this place. Now it looks and feels tired. The prices have gone up. We went yesterday and had to drink from paper cups. The quality has gone down. A lot of the staff (who were really lovely) have left. It now has no atmosphere ..... what a shame. I don't think we will go back.

We had a very disappointing meal tonight and the service left a lot to be desired. Drinks took an age to come. We wanted Lime and soda, they had run out of soda, I was given a bottle of Diet Coke with no glass I had to ask for one and my partner asked for a pint of bitter only to be told the bar was shut and he could only have bottled beer!!!

Poor hygiene standards. The cakes on display at the front of the counter had no protective covering and the tarts unchilled. We saw someone sneeze and then cough while waiting to be served, right in front of the cakes. Two people then cancelled their cake order. The coffee is really awful, very bitter and undrinkable. The tea is no better. A paninni my friend ordered was cold inside with the cheese unmelted. The previous caterers were far better, with the food being appetisingly presented. Now there is little care and the quality poor. The venue should be busy as it is such a lvely location but it seems nobody cares.

Bought our tickets to attend a show at the Floral and as it was lunchtime decided to have it there. There were two couples sitting drinking tea so we thought as it’s not crowded we’d take a seat and order lunch. The place is very tired looking these days but the seating was comfortable. The sandwiches in the chiller cabinet had fairly interesting content but looked so unappetising we decided on a tuna and cheese panini, bowl of chips and two teas. There was nobody else ordering food so we mistakenly thought we wouldn’t have to wait too long, it took them 45 mins. To serve us. When it did arrive it was so awful we just left and will not be returning to the cafe again. Such a shame because the venue is in a prime location on the sea front, with lovely views it could be packed everyday if it sold good, fresh, we’ll prepared, hot, food. The tea also left a lot to be desired.

We have regularly popped into the Cafe since the “New” Floral Pavilion opened some 10 years ago. Always enjoyed coffee and famous Eccles cakes or a lunchtime snack whilst looking out over the Mersey. Today was our first visit since the new cafe team was put in place. Virtually empty! Disappointed with the range of basic cakes and pastries on offer.....cinnamon swirls looked very unappetising....... a few sandwiches on offer....but overall the shelves were lacking stock. Coffee weak and had to accept most of my change in 20p pieces. :-( Won’t be visiting again.

Our second visit was no better than the first a few weeks ago. Tea awful, very weak, large teapot with one tea bag. The teapot was stained on the outside. Long queues to place orders. The food was ok but is expensive for what it is. The quality is nothing like as good as six months ago. Overall, it would be better to eat elsewhere first as a number of people now seem to be doing. It could be such a great venue but has gone downhill over the last couple of months. It has never been used to its full potential but now it is no longer a place to enjoy a good lunch.

We went here on the 08/09/2018 for a 3 course meal before a show to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary ,,was quite surprised I could get a table ,but once you eat the food there you know why, Oh my word what has gone so wrong with this restaurant, we have dinned here several times over the years ,and our meal has always be superb to a point you did not want it to end , The food here is now is awful , as we were going to see a show after we could not take the chance of leaving and eating somewhere else and not miss the show , Gone all day with nothing to eat so we were ready for a fantastic meal, T o begin the starter ,2 lumps of pate, half a cherry tomato and one tiny sliver of cucumber all toped of with a load of green stuff ,along side sliced up bread roll ,they could not even be bothered to toast that ,the texture in you mouth was dreadful , husbands main Chicken curry and rice thrown on a plate ,and that was it , my main Lamb rump ,thought it would come out lovely and pink ,as lamb should be , it does not say on their menu that it has been braised all day and comes out grey on your plate with slimy skin, veg just dipped in hot water, and purple whole carrots ,with the little hairy fibres left on , desserts ,no raspberries in my husbands dessert and the cheese cake had come to the end of its shelf life, You would have got better quality food in your local supermarket just down the road ,or the local chippy, from now on , will be dinning at the Queens Royal before going to see a show , quality of food there is fantastic , On a end note I must say how great the waiting on staff are pleasant ,smiling ,and attentive , felt sorry for them ,as I know I was not the only person there to complain

My wife and I are regular customers of this dog-friendly establishment, and have been for some time. However, as much as we have been enjoying our visits, up until a few weeks ago, there has been a very noticeable change of atmosphere around the cafe, especially with the staff of late. A change of caterers has brought about a complete block of uncertainty, doom and gloom, as well a loss of motivation, which is staggering, to say the least. The same staff, but a new catering company, suggests that this so-called "Kudos", are most certainly not living up to their name.

Since changing caterers recently and moving the cooking area downstairs to the cafe, long queues build up, even if you only want a cup of tea. There is now an unpleasant smell of fat permeating the ground floor from all the burgers, etc., being cooked. The staff are very friendly but now rushed off their feet. The service has gone down hill since the change over. We were there last Tuesday. There is a very good pianist playing upstairs. The toilets are prone to blocking and there is not a nice smell. Some of the taps appear to be broken, either running all the time or not working.

This was quite a pleasant sedate place to have some lunch whilst watching the world go by out of windows overlooking the beach and the docks. On our visit, there was a man playing the piano and he came to our table to ask for a request. I chose something by the Ink Spots, as it seemed the kind of music that should be played here, and despite claiming not to know it he then proceeded to rattle it out very well indeed. It added a nice touch to our experience. The food was fine, even if its delivery was a little strange.

Pre show meal before Laughterhouse Live. Fixed menu choice of 2 or 3 courses pre pay for food before you arrive All tables have outside views. Limited choice of courses but understandable with small number of bookings. We chose 2 course but we’re given the option to add dessert no room after good sized portions. No great expectations but was I surprised. Tasty well cooked and well presented food. Pork belly was perfect. Saw other dishes which looked equally delicious. Heard several diners praising the chips. Attentive service 3 staff on duty very pleasant and efficient . Reasonably priced drinks and to cap it all we could stay at our tables until showtime and be served drinks when the sell out audience arrived and had to queue for drinks and for somewhere to sit . We have booked several more shows for later this year and I think we will be eating here before each one.

We went there at half term before a show. We had a bit of a wait for our food as the staff discovered someone had left the fridge door open overnight, so half the menu was off. However the staff were pleasant and what food we did have was very good, and this one hiccup would not stop us going again. They offered us complimentary drinks and snacks due to the problem so we can't complain.

Mind you if you were a friend or perhaps worked at the Floral you just knocked on the side door and you would be served immediately . Complete disregard for the queue.

We would not return we could not all have breakfast at the same time so could not eat with our daughter, husband and grandson. Could not eat at the times we wanted it was very short staffed and food items not topped up as they ran out so constantly having to ask for things like milk, butter, bread ,juice etc on the last morning the sausages were not even cooked properly it was a right fiasco we would not return here again.

Disgusting...starter served after the main course, salad and sauce missing, over cooked and cold! Mains mac & cheese had better pot noodle, microwaved cheap supermarket food, Hunters chicken cold, rotted salad on both meals, no staff checked in with us throughout! If anyone says the food is cooked fresh to order then this is a lie. Worst meal I have ever had.
