Forget the big named places. What a find. If you want good food at great prices then you can't do better than this little gem. 30 meals to choose from We had the Gammon 'n Chips, Black Pudding, Mushrooms & Mushy Peas (for less than £10 Very filling, great piece of gammon, cooked perfectly. The place was spotless, & the staff were pleasant & courteous.

Brilliant food. It's cash only but food is A1. Recommended. The service was superb. Staff very polite and helpful. Can't get back there quick enough.

Went in 5 people 1 in a wheelchair no help from the staff people pushing past we would of spent at least £35 but got no help to get a seat the wons that were empty we would have blocked the iles been lots of times overe the years but this time serves was so bad nevere going back

I visited this cafe for lunch. Staff were friendly. Had the fish and chips and a coffee. The fish was very tasty and the chips were crunchy. Coffee was very nice. I would visit again when in New Brighton.

wow, definitely a hidden gem we all opted for the chicken breast roast dinner /tea and a selection of delicious homemade desserts. amazing value. Great portions. definitely worth a visit. Don't let first impressions put you off slight negative is that it is cash only but can fully understand why

The best fish and chips for miles. Quick service and excellent food. The price is very reasonable. I can highly recommend it and have visited it serveral times when in the area. The only small complaint we have is that the tables are quite hard to get into for us elderly people and not too comfortable but the food outweighs the discomfort of the seats. I hope it doesn't change and stays as good in the future. Thanks to everyone who works there.

Although looking a little rough on the outside, when we entered it was clean and basic. The food was brilliant. I had steak pie , chips , peas , gravy and my partner had fish which was enormous. Also, we couldn't believe the prices. My meal was £7.95 if you added a pound you got tea, bread and butter. Great staff too. I'd highly recommend!

Seaside cafe words fail me in times when excellence is expected but seldom appreciated or recognised well great place great food great staff and great friendly atmosphere and great prices need I go on we have been popping in and out of here for quite a while they even found my wife,s iphone when she mislaid lost it there and held it safe till we could get back for it .Simply an all round excellent experience and look forwards to visiting again soon Thank you and no not related or receiving any sort of remuneration for this review

We as a school visited New Brighton on a field trip with 64 primary school children on a wet Monday morning. The weather was horrendous, sheet rain with nowhere to take the children! We had planned a beach day with ice creams. I went into the cafe and asked the ladies if we could come in for an ice cream. They were so kind and served everyone of the 64 children with ice cream and treats. Such patient, kind and professional staff, with the most delicious ice cream and frothy coffee to warm up us teachers ! 5 stars ++++ to Sarah and Leanne for putting a smile on all their faces 😊 Thank you so much

nice friendly old fashioned place. The desserts are yummy- a world away from the boring trendy desserts but proper old school classics like banana splits and peach melba. I had chips and curry but the meals looked decent too

Been twice this month and both times they have got my sons order wrong. First time they forgot his order completely and we had to ask twice for it, bearing in mind we (the adults) had already eaten our food before it came out. This time I asked for no gravy on my sons dinner and it came out with gravy all over it. The excuse was that the meat was cooked in gravy. If that is the case this should be advertised on the menu, also the meat would have gravy on both sides not just one side. If you are going to lie to the customers, because the chef is in a bad mood (which we also heard about), please make it a good lie and not one to a reviewer.

IT's a nice enough place and the staff are pleasant but the place is freezing and it took 25 minutes for our food to arrive.

Fancied some fish and chips today so me and my daughter popped in after a walk in the tower grounds chatting about history. So we wanted to go somewhere with pictures on the wall to show my daughter. The decor is great at the cafe with lots of New Brightons history items on display. We have a pot of tea which gives you 4 cups worth and a frothy coffee which my daughter safe was really nice. Had fish & chips for dinner and it was great. Comes with salad and mushy peas. A Great dish and the best fish I’ve eaten in ages. Will be back for the Sunday roast in a few weeks as that looked great.

As someone who doesn't live locally, I often tend to make the trip to visit the Seaside Cafe whenever I'm in the area. The food is definitely a reason on its own to go, but the atmosphere is second to none. Staff are extremely friendly, and as many more people came in and staff were on a first name basis with most, it's clear to see that I'm not the only one who had this experience. There's always a real buzz about the cafe. I like to leave a big thank you to Sarah who served me on the day, as well as everyone else who was in. I will be back when I'm next in the area!

Friendly service. Made big effort to make us welcome and comfortable. I was driving friend's wheelchair very badly but lady at counter explained easier way to manoeuvre. On second visit they even rearranged furniture to make us more comfortable. Breakfast was great, good value and speedily cooked. My wife and I tried the full English breakfast and friend had the vegetarian. They were all good. Busy as always because this cafe is very popular with locals as well as visitors. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Me my mum and sister had a day out to New Brighton, We felt hungry seen the cafe and went to have a look best decision ever, food was excellent and superb portions great value for money, staff friendly and it was very clean and tables cleared straight away, will definatley come here again.

My twin brother Stephen and I had a day out in New Brighton in early March and what more traditional thing to do in a seaside resort that visit a seafront cafe and enjoy that most local of meals namely a fish & chips meal....

We always drop in at the Seaside cafe when we visit.. food is brill and always a great atmosphere here. Recently added scooped ice cream cones as well which was actually the nicest ice cream we’ve had in years. Good luck during these difficult times, sure we’ll be back in the summer!

Three of us visited the Seaside Café today. I have to regretfully admit it was our first visit and sadly it was a take away due to the enforced restrictions because of the corona virus. I will certainly visit the café again. Definitely. The staff were so friendly under stressful circumstances, the hygiene was spot on (5 stars), prices were very reasonable, service was quick and efficient, the toasties were excellent, the drinks were great too. Both during and after the current situation, we will visit the Seaside Café again and I urge others to do the same.The experience has convinced me to visit an excellent, caring local business instead of a faceless national chain.Thanks you.Peter H

We have visited the Seaside Cafe many times over the past eight years, occasionally meeting friends there but more usually just the two of us, me and my other half. Strangely, on all of the visits, we have only ever had two items off the menu (which is extensive and offers a broad range of cooked food and sandwiches).Our very favourite brunch is a sausage and egg toastie! That combined with a mug of the nicest hot chocolate, is a meal made in heaven! Lovely floured white bread, with tasty sausages and a lovely fried egg, which bursts as you bite into it... just sublime!And the prices are just amazing! But it does get quite busy, particularly on weekends, as it seems most of the residents of New Brighton descend with their families for a slap-up meal! Its a bit quieter in the week, but whether sun or rain, its aways a welcoming venue.The staff are friendly but also quick and efficient. Try it out! Highly recommended.

Efficient service, clean cafe and I LOVED my Fish and Chips with peas plus tea bread and butter for £1.00 extra. Perfect position on the Esplanade, and obviously very popular with the local people too, as well as tourists!!

Great fish and chips meals inc mushy peas, side salad, b&b, two pots of tea, all for £13.90. Brilliant value, fish cooked perfect to order, side salads had all sorts in them. We fancied the desserts but couldn’t even manage to eat the bread and butter. Pleasant friendly staff too. Plus a great walk on the New Brighton prom making it a lovely January afternoon

I came here with a group from our church with ages ranging from 1 to 71. I had booked in advance and we were made very welcome. The children loved the quirky decor and the food was excellent. The portions were generous and the prices very reasonable. The service was excellent and we all enjoyed our visit very much.

We had the breakfast with a pot of tea and enough toast to feed an army all for £5.50 each. At time of writing the cafe is decorated to the nines with halloween decorations but nothing too scary. Friendly staff offering unpretentious food. Looks like it is well supported by the locals which is good to see when so many BORING chains close by.

The food is good but I find that the vegetables on a Sunday lunch are quite raw .not that nice they really need to cook vegetables a bit more it's off putting.

Our first visit to New Brighton on 27th September, it was a beautiful day so was pleased to find a cafe with outside seating were we could sit for lunch. I had the all day breakfast which was cooked to perfection and plentiful, my husband had Spanish omelette and chips which he said was very tasty. We finished up with a pot of tea, which we prefer to a tea bag in a mug of hot water, will certainly visit again.

This is a lovely traditional cafe. The staff were friendly and food was reasonably priced and good quality. Good to have bread and butter with our fish and chips which you wouldn't get in a chain restaurant. So pleased we found this gem and will definitely return.

It is refreshing to find an English cafe that caters for everybody's budget with decent sized portions and a quick and pleasant service even ice creams are reasonable. Visited this cafe several times and never diappointed, we very often 'come over the water' from St Helens for Sunday lunch. Tried a chicken salad this week and the presentation and quality of the food is absolutely amazing for the price

Been coming to this cafe ever since I was a kid. If you sit outside it’s a gorgeous place to relax enjoy the view and watch the world go by. The food is always lovely and the staff are always friendly. Highly recommend this cafe.

Went to the Seaside Cafe this morning, and found the breakfast/s to be under-cooked.

Went here for my dinner on my birthday yesterday and enjoyed every bit of my food. I ordered fish and chips with peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea and a banana split for afters and my brother had the same meal but chose the pineapple meringue for afters.

I eat here regularly as the food is that good! Prices are reasonable, and the portions are giant... The staff are really friendly... The only down side is the fact that it's cash only, with atm's a 5 min walk away...

Went in as a family of five. I ordered chips, pie, peas and gravy. The gravy treated of dishwater combined with grease, it was coke. The chips are frozen cheap chips. I cut into the microwaved pie and the meat was so fatty I almost threw up. I left everything. When they came to take the plates they didn't even ask why I'd ate nothing. If you like your family don't go here. I won't be going back in there for love nor money!

WE have been coming here for years. The fish is always excellent but the ex-ferry seating is quite uncomfortable and it isnt really accessible for wheelchairs or others users due to narrow aisles

There's a lot of choices to make as there are thirty main courses to choose from. All under seven pounds. The seaside special offers include tea along with a slice of bread and butter. The food is fresh and hot. The desserts are less than three pounds. Staff are excellent and helpful. You have a sea view in the centre of New Brighton.

We have been to this cade twice for lunch. Both times the food was good and excellent value for money. Our lunch came to a total of £12.30. That is pretty much impossible to get in where we come from. Staff were polite and helpful and the eating area was clean. We will return.

After a lovely walk there is nothing like calling into the Sea Side Cafe for something you eat and drink. Snacks to a full meal, freshly cooked, and good service. Fully recommend a visit.

The food is really nice at the sea side café its a little cold could do with bit more heating in the place its nice to see the have made a some improvements things like a cold fridge for caked looks a lot better some new tables I just wish the would get rid off the old seating as this double bench boat bench really is yuk as one person on the other side off the bench gets u I nearly end up with my food on my lap lol time to change the seating the roast is nice saves cooking at home very friendly owner and staff I shall return to eat at the sea side café again.

This is without doubt the best food ,value for money,and great staff around.We go at least once a week from Runcorn,and recommend it to everyone.Wouldnt even try anywhere else.They make such an effort with decorations,for Christmas ,Halloween, Easter,to name a few and go to such a lot of trouble.We have worked our way through the menu,and everything has always been delicious.Thanks to everyone at the Seaside.

Really unique place for some tasty food. The restaurant is cool. Seats are boat seats like the mersey ferrys. Decorated well for Halloween. Food was delish and atmosphere is nice. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Fab veiw if sat in the right seats as this is in the seafront (River front) all in all lovely place will certainly come back

Stayed in the travelodge opposite and decided to come here for lunch after checking out. Staff were welcoming & friendly. The Steak pie dinner was very filling and decent quality. I can recommend this cafe.

They've got great chips, the staff are friendly and they where very accommodating of my assistance dog after a traumatic experience in the mediterainian sea next door.

Hubby said the fish was nice and daughter seemed to enjoy the cheese toasty however I can’t overlook the chips issue.

Just back from a short break at New Brighton. As our travelodge didn't do food we tried this old fashioned looking cafe on our first morning for breakfast.

Don't expect anything too fancy, this is just sensibly priced food. We had fish and chips which were freshly cooked, good batter, tasty fish and crispy brown chips. Drinks are cheap and we were able to eat outside with Winter the dog who also enjoyed the fish and a bowl of fresh water. God value for money.

Prices reasonable, food always well turned out. Proper home style cooking, with a lovely cup of tea on the side. We all had fish and chips, and sat outside in the glorious sunshine, overlooking the sea. Food delivered to our tables very speedily. Cheerful staff. This place never disappoints.

Cheap and fast ,mostly frozen product and microwaved, ok if you just want a cheap quick lunch , on saying that Have the very good breakfasts that they do ,and their sandwiches are nice

We booked to bring pupils here for lunch from our school! The staff were lovely and friendly! The food was fantastic loads of choice for the children! Within 10 minutes of ordering the food arrived and great portion sizes! Recommend this cafe to other classes back at school! Thank you very much for making our day trip so special!

The beach at New Brighton is stunning. So much to see and do with plenty of food choices to suit every palate and pocket. For cheap eats we stopped at The Sea side cafe. The menu is full of basic staples including every combination of an all day breakfast, fish and chips, burgers and the like. It's very good value for money and the portions are ample. They also serve the best value ice cream for the kids along the strip! Note though, they only take cash, no cards.

You order at the cashier and get services when it's ready. No alcoholic drinks offered. We had fish and chips and it was ok. Good value.

I love coming here for lunch. I love everything about the café. I love the seats which were taken from an old ferry boat. I love the size of it too. Its good for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The service is always great and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The menu might look exhaustive but there is such a great choice of meals. Soups, sandwiches, burgers, sausage dinners, pie dinners and so much more. I have never had a bad meal here and have visited it a lot over the years. Its not expensive either which is always a good bonus.

This cafe is full of character old benches from the Mersey ferry. The food is traditional and most is homemade. The staff are friendly and helpful. The choice is always good with special offers. It is always busy this is probably because of the standard of food and the reasonable prices. You can sit on the old Mersey ferry seats inside or relax outside. In both areas you can see the Fort, lighthouse and the sea.

This is a real taste of the true British seaside! This is how it should be, no big brand corporation but genuine British fish and chips and more! From the seaside orientated decorations of nets and ship's wheels to the delicious smell of fish, chips and vinegar, it oozes atmosphere. It's not the Ritz so don't expect it to be. Cheerful staff, delicious food and cheap prices. A real authentic seaside cafe and well worth a visit!

It’s not gourmet food, nor is it one of the many bland chain restaurants, it’s simple cafe food, tasty and cheap.

Met wife for lunch here having decided the Italian ‘chain’ restaurants across the road were simply too expensive if all you want is a quick lunch. Wife had cheese toastie- piping hot, tasty. I enjoyed ham, egg and chips. Ham seemed like it had been carved from the bone, chips just right although probably oven chips. REALLY quick service! Pot of tea for the wife, soft drink for me £12 all up - no wonder Jamie is closing restaurants! Highly recommended!

Was relatively clean, but the chips were not proper chip shop chips, think they were oven chips. Ok for price though. Girl who served us was friendly. Lady clearing tables could've cracked a smile.
