The best restaurants serving British food in St. Helens North West

Went to pick up a takeaway on NYE and witnessed a young family coming in for a booking they had made. The staff told them they were in the wrong restaurant and didn’t have a booking. The lady showed him her phone with the call made for the booking. He completely shut her down said he didn’t know who had told her but they were full and goodbye. He basically turned his back on them. The couple had two small children. The weather was horrific and they were made to leave. Disgusting behaviour by staff. For that reason I would not return. The food wasn’t half as good as it used to be before they reopened

Great local pub, live music and decent selection of drinks

Fantastic friendly wee spot and it’s 2 mins from our house which is great. The food is class and all the girls are brilliant. Only bad thing is that their bacon sausage & cheese triple is stretching my waistline as it’s so good I have 2 a week. 😃

This was my first visit and will probably not bother going back again, The breakfast was pretty poor, and as the kitchen is open plan, I could see the staff plating up. Everything is handled, using bare hands and when the lady was plating up the fried eggs, I could actually see the oil dripping onto the plate. Used a napkin to soak up some of the oil from my plate, and received a dirty look from one of the staff members. The whole place feels greasy and even the table surfaces and chairs have a sticky feeling to them. Behind the counter, there are visible greasy hand marks on just about everything.A 5 star health and safety rating? I don't know when they achieved this, but based on this visit, I dont see how that's possible.

Really good place to meet up and have a good night out with a friendly atmosphere and good service.

Luvly pie's cakes and sandwiches.

whet to a 21st here for a social club it wasn't a bad night good DJ, and best of all good priced beer's

Disappointing visit. First drink (scotch) provided in an extremely well worn, scratched, dull glass. Main course was very good and up to expected standard. Dessert was supposed to be ‘cheesecake’. It was a square of slightly stiff, soggy bottomed mousse! Inedible, the waitress said ‘sorry, about that’. It should have been refunded or an alternative offered. Final drink ordered, never arrived and wasn’t on the bill either.. so it had been overlooked completely! Overall a disappointing experience.

The vegan sausage with mushroom, tomato and chilli sauce on a sourdough bap was totally delicious (and I'm not vegan!) and my daughter and sister were both really happy with their paninis. Service was also very friendly. Would reccommend!

Great family pub. Brilliant service.we were a large party with 5 children. Food was great service was even better. Prices were family friendly too.

We were at a 70th birthday party. The staff. Food venue was a credit to the area. We will be back there for meals and entertainment.

Under cooked pie and cold pasties one warm and hard one perfect service very slow baker to concerned with check list still produced under cooked pies

Bar staff are rude. Especially the blonde woman. The food was really bad. I had fish and chips i think it was all microwaved. The blond woman was serving regulars at the bar before others who was waiting first and she didn’t even charge one of them. First and last time for me. Also the drinks are really over priced

Really good coffee , milkshakes were a delight. breakfasts were all good mushrooms wasn't great but that's just down to my preference as others on our table really liked them , so great place with friendly staff great all rounder
