Amazing bakery, wide selection of pasties, pies, and baked deserts. You can also get freshly made sandwiches that are some of the best I've ever eaten 😋 Very fair prices too. Cambridge road in general is such an underrated street! My go to is either a ham sandwich or meat & potato pasty. And 1 or 2 sausage rolls of course

I had the meat and potato pie and a pork pie. Very, very tasty. People queuing of of the door the door and about 5 serving ladies. So, must be very popular local. Really reasonable prices as well.

Birthday meal with family had mixed grill and a couple of shandies.Enjoyed the evening, room was quite busy but friendly and food was just right.

Food overpriced place dated no orderly manner, large queues, one member of staff serving whilst the rest walk round with miserable faces nothing has a price tag or what the item is called the place was dirty and no health and safety signs staff not wearing hair nets or even gloves and no signs of any sinks or regular handwashing. And no Fire Alarm system or safety equipment

Tried the £16.00 hotpot after recomdation I'm afraid to say it was very very poor, it was sold frozen and after cooking at a suitable setting I found thin watery liquid from the filling, very little meat and the vegetables especially the carrots were rubbery and unpleasant, for the price I think these are very very poor and very overpriced and no i especially after sampling these would not buy one of these again from blackburns, i have had much better locally which have been fresher and not frozen.

Called last Thursday to purchase a steak pie and also a meat and potato pie. The pies tasted ok but they were small especially the meat and potato pie, a couple of bites and gone , not really value for money.

Recommended to try this bakery. The steak pie was delicious but the meat and potato wasn't to my taste. Quite bland and little seasoning. Colleges have said there usually peppery but not the day I called

I have not been Blackburns for over 30 years. Could kick myself, best pies ever, still the same, very tasty. Got barmcakes to try, also scones and chocolate éclair. Now, on my shopping list. Staff are very friendly and really helpful. The only downfall is trouble parking, as one way street and packed, obvious because high street is so popular.

A proper baker where everything is cooked on site. Best meat and potato pies I have had. Steak pies are excellent too. Everything is excellent in all honesty with a massive choice of cakes.

Service is abysmal, ignored in the queue because the staff are too busy chatting to pay attention. Not the first time this has happened either. Food is ok but not exactly cheap. Would be fine if not for service. Decide how much the extra wait is worth to you I guess.

Very nice pies wonderful but the price is a bit to much.

Visited this bakery to buy Chorley Cakes but they didn't have any ☹️ so bought Hotpot pies instead. Generous size, light crumbly pastry and very tasty. Lots of veg inside, a few more bits of meat would make them even better. Friendly staff giving a warm Northern welcome. Worth a visit for fresh baked goods and bread.

I'll be glad soon when I don't work in St Helens as I spend all my wages in this shop 🤣. When I travel around the world I actually miss this shop 😄 THE best pies in the world. Don't care what anyone says. Staff are all lovely too 😊.

A very bust pie shop particularly at lunch time they sell excellent pies, highly recommended.

I have been coming here since I was a child. They make some wonderful products. Sausages are superb as are the steak pies. Some wonderful cakes and scones although some a bit stodgy. I also enjoy the cream you can purchase. Cooked meats , sausage rolls and scones are all good too. An institution!

The pies are the best around. However, what I don't like, is they overcharge me nearly every week. Same order, but sometimes its up to £1 dearer. They're too busy yakking to each other and not concentrating. I only get 4 items, how hard can it be to add it up? They still get it wrong when they use a calculator. I was overcharged by around £3 once, and I had to pull them up. I was made to feel I was the one in the wrong, which I wasn't. The young girl who did it didn't even apologise. I don't like that. It's just ripping people off. Plus, lately, I've found if you go around 11 am, the pies seem warmed up from the day before. Sometimes burned and very dry.

Best pie shop in St Helens by far. Can't beat them.

Often on a Saturday i would pick up a pork pie possible some buns and eclairs for the weekend, I stopped with the pie when they started coming out stone cold as if not freshly baked , today i bough 2 fresh cream eclairs when opening the box this evening it was more like one and a shrunken one. half size. Having said that it tasted ok

I have visited Blackburns for many months and on odd occasion asked for fresh cream jam scones. If there wasnt any made up then the staff would take a few minutes in the back pjace to make them no problem. Yet this morning I was eventually served, when she actually stopped gossiping to her colleague, and she replied they only do the scones on a Saturday! I was taken aback, accepted her comment and walked out. I sent my husband in 20 mins later and he said they had lots already made up and had no problem getting served...so what's the crack there. I bet Mike Blackburn isnt aware of the shoddy service their staff are providing...I will go to Burchalls in the future!

Just tried for the first time on a recommendation. Was not disappointed. Plenty of choice, lots of staff on so served quickly. Bought pies, sausage rolls and cakes. Meat and potato and meat pie were delicious, my son confirms the sausage rolls are good! Cakes were a good size and plenty of fresh cream. Could see the sandwiches in the chiller were generously filled and not expensive. Will definitely visit again, worth the little drive out and so reasonably priced. Makes you realise how inadequate and overpriced the chain bakeries are.

Best pies ever 😋 living in haydock i normally shop at galloways, not anymore blackburns by far the best for me and my family and reasonably priced, even better.

There's a good reason this place has queues (despite covid) out the door. Everything they produce is fantastic quality. Anything else they sell that isn't produced in house is locally sourced and is of similar quality. There is a continuous supply of freshly baked pies. All the sandwiches they do are made to order with very fresh ingredients. All the bakery products are produced from scratch in the bakery that day, so once it's gone it's gone. The counter staff are as quick as they can be. Don't expect faddy fillings and expensive coffee, do expect good food, good service and good prices. The scones are incredible.

The best pies in town! Lovely cakes and pies as well. (I convince myself that it's all low calorie and low fat!!)

Well Worth a trip. Best pie shop in the world I think. I travel from Widnes every couple of months but I'd travel from anywhere for a BLACKBURNS. Buy a few and freeze for later. Keep up the good work, staff are soooooo friendly too, nothing is too much trouble 😀

Well well well.... where the hell do I begin?! First off all I turn up to hear the sound of a teenage boy screaming his lungs out in the back of the bakery. I guess he got burnt i'm not to sure. I then order a flipping pie and it takes 10 minutes to make. SERIOUSLY!!! Absolutely pathetic. By the time the pie was served it was stone cold (like Steve Austin) no but seriously it was freezing and had what looked to be dandruff flakes smeared all on top of the pastry. I missed my daughters dance routine waiting for this world famous pie and i'm served with a pathetic excuse of a meal. Some i=one really needs to get there head out their backside and get real. That's all i have to say. However some of the staff in there need a p45 immedidiatley . Fresh pies? dream on sunshine.

Pork pies don't meet up to the standard of Burchall's, but a much wider selection and everything I've tried is delicious, especially the sausage rolls.

The buns, cakes and cooked meats that we purchased were absolutely lovely, as they usually are. Everything we buy from here is very good, very moreish, if you know what I mean. Very polite and efficient staff aswell.

I was told by a work colleague from St Helens to take a visit to Blackburn's as the products they sell are top quality 👍 I'm now making a 100 mile round trip every week to stock up on their excellent products.Bread,cakes,pies,hot pots, sandwiches,rolls,barmcakes are superb and so are the staff👍
