Lovely Sunday lunch with the family. Accommodated usbun the bar area with the dog but was very comfortable and the staff were friendly, food was delicious

Visited after being recommended in the Secret Glamping welcome pack. It certainly didn’t disappoint. Warmest of welcomes with excellent service and excellent food. A real gem and would definitely visit again. It’s a shame we don’t live closer. A fantastic early evening. Can’t recommend enough.

We came to the bottle and glass for a family meal to celebrate our grandmas birthday and she was made up to say the least. Food was great service was quick. I must say I don’t normally tend to leave a review for places but Grandma insisted I do it on her behalf. You guys have really impressed her 😂 My grandma can be pretty indecisive when we’re out to eat and Nat (our waitress) was so polite and patient with her, even going as far as to help her with the menu because she’d forgot her glasses. Grandma settled on fish and chips and she LOVED it. I had the smothered chicken which was really nice and the food came out pretty quick. We stayed for a few drinks afterwards and not once did we feel rushed Thanks for making her birthday one to remember. No doubt my grandma will be back, myself included.

What a fantastic place this is. Came here for Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint.Probably one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had. I would highly recommend this pub to everyone. The food was hot and very well presented and the service from the staff was impeccable. Well done and thank you for a great afternoon.

Food was great and the service was even better. Really really awesome staff. They were all so welcoming and helpful. Very attentive and gave the whole place a brilliant atmosphere. They were all so happy and it gave the place a wonderful family atmosphere. Big shout out to Nat, Jess, Phil, Kev and our amazing waitress Becky. I apologise if I have missed anyone out. You are such a great credit to the establishment. Will definitely visit again.

Disappointing .. we have been coming here nearly 40 years and it's nothing like it used to be! The menu .. including specials was not inspiring and seemed expensive. My choice .. lamb with dressing .. was disappointing but came with nice broccoli and an overload of rather odd leathery cold potatoes and barely half a forkfull of lettuce which hardly deserved a mention on the menu. The three way pudding .. a small dollop of quite nice Eton mess .. a solid but tasty jam rolly poly and excellent HOT custard reminiscent of much loved school dinners was let down by a tiny sherry trifle that had no taste let alone of sherry and was overwhelmed by bland squirty 'cream'. We think the lunch menu might be more inspiring .. but we don't know because the menus were wisked away rapidly and staff were only seen again when they wanted paying. While we were waiting to leave we had time to notice the threadbare carpet with food stains that looked like they hadn't been cleared for many days. A very quiet night with the crowds sensibly staying away!

I called in and requested a table for one....no problem and was asked to sit in the bar area. I chose to be out of the way and sat in the corner. I habe been to this pub/restaurant several times over many years and it has a reputation which is consistent and mostly positive. There is good parking and dogs are allowed in the part of the bar I was sitting in. I have no problem with this as it is great for dog walkers to drop in for a pint. Ordering for food and drinks takes place at the bar, some other local establishments do this differently and it does make a difference. I must say the customers in the pub were lovely, very friendly, typical of Rainford. The staff were businesslike and although polite and welcoming just didn't smile enough. That sounds silly I know but again it does make a difference. To start I ordered the seasonal special, Asparagus. It's a dish I know well. Nice enough but, and it is a purely subjective judgement, not quite right. The sauce and egg are a nice touch but just lacking overall in how I know it can taste. Apologies if I am being picky. Sitting in my corner location does leave you a little out of things and the service was slow. Not necessarily an issue...it depends on your mood and reason for visiting. I was a little miffed at having to root aounf in the black condiments box put on my table for the knife and fork. I predicted that having used my fork for the starter I would have to leave my seat once the main course arrived to ask the busy manager for another. She was a touch stressed which transmitted to me, even though the pub was not that busy. The main course was....fine. Sirloin steak and fries. Well cooked...perhaps a little over cooked in the fries, a little too crunchy possibly. The steak itself was tasty but compared to other local offerings (all be it at a slight cost increase) a little chewy and fatty around the edges. Fine but not outstanding. I have been really harsh I think because this is a lovely pub with good food but on this visit it didn't shine quite as it used to. I have awarded 3 stars but others might be inclined to go with 4. Go on another day and it will be brilliant....I just know that on this visit it could have been better. Thank you.

We have been sat here for 35 minutes and nobody came over to take an order since handing us menus and telling us they will be right over so we left as we had a meeting to get to

Terrible service , waited over an hour for our meal to arrive no apologies from the staff / manager when people arrived after us , they were served with their meals as we sat there ! very disappointed never had this experience before we have been numerous times will not be returning .

Being Good Friday we both had battered cod. I think they battered it that much into submission the batter was rock hard. They obviously cook it many hours earlier then just warm it up when ordered. Disappointing for a pub restaurant usually of high quality.

Went out for a family meal on Easter Sunday... I appreciate its a busy day.. food was very average and was cold when served . I complained and had my meal reheated.. other party members ate theirs cold. This is the second time we've been disappointed we won't be returning again ..

Waited 45 mins no one came ordersf drinks at the bar waited agan ordered one starter and two mains the mains came but no starter we were now hungry by this time our mains which were nothing special mine was miniscule my husbands was ok then the starter arrived no apology no offer of a coffee at least no customer service at all a very very disappointing experience will never go back

I have to say the food was really disappointing, I’ve never had hard very dry mash potatoes before! I wouldn’t recommend it personally

Haven't been to this pub for years so thought we would try it again It is still a lovely and cosy pub but the food was very disappointing! The fish was mostly batter and the duo of chicken was awful and not even that hot The service was pretty poor as well and it didn't look that busy when we were there It is such a shame that it has gone down so much but we won't be going there for food again!!

Been here a few times but not for a few years. Decided to book in for a meal on our way home from the safari park. The food was dreadful, the steak pie was without steak. The mash was powdery as tho it was instant mash and my daughters pizza looked exactly like a frozen Chicago town pizza from Iceland. Thanks but no thanks Bottle and Glass, we will take a detour next time.

Have been here before and always enjoyed our meals sadly today was disappointing. Roast beef very stringy and chewy my grandson when he commented on his chicken strips wasn’t impressed. Service very slow. 2 out of 7 meals ok

We had a lovely Mother's Day meal at The Bottle and Glass yesterday lunchtime. Chris looked after us beautifully, and we appreciate the care he took. The food was delicious and given how busy the pub was, it arrived quickly. This is our favourite place to take Mum to when we come up to visit, and we would like to say a big thank you to you all.

Me and my Mrs have the occasional lunch date here and the food is lovely quality and well priced. Highly recommend the specials too!

Well what can I say I went the bottle and glad with my friend For my birthday lunch, The meal was terrible mash and steak 🥩 was cold, and a little bit of cress at the side that was the veg, Plus I ask for gluten free cheese cake It came with a biscuit base which wasn’t gluten-free. All in all I was very very disappointed. I will not be going there in the future. Not sure what’s going on with the place because I’ve always gone there for lunch and totally enjoyed it. This time was not nice at all.

Normally quite happy with this place. However Monday was a real let down. Waitress wasn't the best and wanted to spend as little time at the table as possible. Practically darting off as soon as things were placed. Steak was red/pink that was supposed to be well done as well as being cold along with cold chips. We asked for 3 lots of ketchup and were bought one dish. Felt like we were a burden tbh. Waitress didn't like putting us somewhere else and muttered she would 'spread herself out' to accommodate the move to a quiet table instead of being put right next to a full table when there were plenty of empty tables around. We didn't complain at the time as we were all so tired and hungry as we had been travelling all day. Bill was pence short of £145. I feel I do not want to go back for a good while.

A very enjoyable meal with helpful and attentive staff. We were served by Gemma who made every effort to make sure we had all we needed and made the Birthday meal a pleasure for my Mother.

Food is always really good here, I would say the prices are a tad expensive as I don’t feel that the food is anything of a higher standard than a good decent pub. Staff are always really nice and friendly and personable. I would advise to book a table when possible as it is quite popular and does get quite busy

Visited for a family meal whilst over from Australia for my mums birthday.. The Guy there possibly owner/manager is so miserable, absolutely no customer service that if I lived in UK would never visit again! To be fair food was ok apart from a medium/well done steak was definitely Rare, when we gave him feedback he was almost blank?? As a regular food reviewer I would recommend that this guy most certainly never deal with guests. Would we eat there again ?? No. Why? Because there are hundreds of establishments that you can visit where you're made to feel welcome and far higher standard food that we would prefer to give our money to. Tip.....train in customer service, smile and if you don't enjoy your job then do something else.

Not been there for many years but Green King have vastly improved the pub.Would recommend a further visit .The pub is dog friendly and can dine in the bar with your furry friends

Was really looking forward to meal with my wife so pre-booked for 6-45 was shown to seat by toilets not a good start. Meal ordered was sea bass risotto and burger for my wife, mine was not worth £17 it was like a starter hardly any risotto just peas! Couldn't catch waitress to complain as too busy. My wife’s burger was ok but chips thrown on a plate and served with no finesse. Overall disappointing won’t be returning as food below parr. Staff were friendly but a bit run off their feet.

Haven't been here for about 10 years - is as lovely as I remember it. Food is lovely and staff are very accommodating and friendly. Cheesecake was to die for!

Have called before without problems, we booked a meal for four, three of which were the same, sorry to say the chicken was like old boots, in fact some was taken home for the dog, the pie had very little inside, which was eaten and the large pastry case left, not sure if you have changed your chef, but the food was AWFUL, sorry to say we won’t be back !!

We were a table of nine with mixed feelings about our food. Some was really good but some disappointing elements to dishes. The advertised sausage meat stuffing to accompany the Sunday roast, was just paxo and very bland. The main of Korean chicken was overcooked, tough and difficult to eat. The 7 hour beef was delicious and tender. The pies were tasty and very generous portions. The customer service however was excellent from Christine. One of our party commented that is was the best customer service they have ever received. Christine was attentive, very pleasant and entertaining with her jovial sense of humour. A real asset to the business.

Called recently as a group of 4 . Service was good as expected. Now on to the food. Starters were fine if a tad small. Mains were average to poor. I ordered sea bass at a cost of £17. What I received was laughable. They looked like a pair of sardines. I complained and they brought a third again miniscule in size. They were 3 to 4 inches long. I could have eaten 6 of these sprats. I bought 2 in Sainsbury's yesterday and they were twice the size. The lasange was not the best either. It was dry and tasteless..The Irish coffee was not nice either. It had a burnt flavour and was not drank. They refunded this when told. So overall I was disappointed which is a shame as I have had better meals here in the past. Has something changed in the meantime ??. I certainly won't be rushing back to this establishment. I didn't want to create a scene as I was with three other people. But had I been alone I would have been demanding a full or substantial refund because the portions were miniscule for the prices they charge. Drinks were a tad pricey also. Overall I was disappointed and expected more.

The Bottle and Glass is an excellent place with fun and friendly staff. The manager can be a bit "off" at times, which, to me adds a bit of Fawlty Towersness to the place. The food is superb, and a good range of beers. Recommended!

Been visiting hear 3o yrs and Christmas eve for past10. So very disappointed and concerned. My husbands triple meat meal look disgusting piled on top of all, he said it was all cold and meat all tasted the the same. Veg and plate was cold. Potatoes looked disgusting yellow , not roasted??. He left most and the waitress said why whats wrong with it and dismissed us. At midnight my husband was violently ill. On the floor in the bathroom projetil vomiting. And Christmas day been unwell, and not able to eat. Can't believe this, we. Will not be dinning with you again. And we seriously need the kitchen to be examined.

Went for the christmas meal Friday 15th December. Lovely welcome on arrival, table set with crackers very festive. Pub nice a warm so was very cosy. Food was excellent, everything as ordered and cooked to perfection. Great value for money. Bottle and Glass you never disappoint.

No leaf salad and chicken, a lovely meal

Went for a family meal today (17/12/23). We've been for the previous 2 Christmas meals and food was great, sadly not today. Mine was pitiful and not cooked properly. Sent it back and asked to have it removed from the bill, which I was told twice it had been. Paid the bill and left, thankfully kept the bill (I don't normally).... and there's the meal still on the bill and I'd paid for it. Rang them when I realised and supposedly they've credited my meal..... we'll see when my card bill comes in. Wouldn't go back there for food in a hurry.

I used to love here, but last Christmas the food wasn't good. We decided to try again this year for a family birthday. Again, the food wasn't up to scratch at all. The carrots and parsnips were rock hard, one parsnip didn't even look like it had been cooked, just the ends cut off and put on the plate. Turkey was cold which then made the gravy go cold quicker. Pudding was an odd combination... chocolate orange tart with coconut ice cream and then I think it was raspberry sauce and lemon sauce...too many flavours. It was also really cold in the room the heating wasn't working so a lot of people were eating in their coats. Such a shame because the staff are amazing, but won't be coming in Dec time again.

A wonderful pub. I've been going there since 1982. it's changed a lot since then. It has an excellent and very welcoming interior and the staff are very nice. A nice pub for a meal and a great selection of beer and wine.

We only call in when we are up that way, but the staff are always fantastic, I can't complain about the food, every meal I have had has always been very good, its a nice cosy place.

Very cold & drafty. Turkey was lovely, but soup looked like one scoop. Came here before a few months ago, and it was lovely, so I'm just a bit disappointed this time.

Food was just warm and place was absolutely freezing cold couldn't wait to get out. Not cheap either. Don't think we'll be going there again. Forgot to mention desserts where brought out before the main meal then taken back and put in fridge, therefore when we were eventually ready for them the sqirty cream on top was frozen solid. I do hope you take this feedback and use it to your advantage.

The pie was cold in the middle,inedible and made my husband feel sick.we ordered a two course special menu the lady took the money before I ordered my dessert then said I need to pay a extra £6 . I even said that the pie was inedible and your still charging £6 . She said I'll ask. Never came back with an answer .Don't rate customer service, quite rude. Won't be going there again. I left the £6 on the table they can have it. Since I put my review up , you now want to rectify it. You had the chance when I mentioned it to you but you did nothing .

I'd like to say I can't comment about the food as I was not there for that, but I did see some other peoples food, looked well presented, the guy who was serving us was a bundle of joy, he knew his drinks and was good at upwelling us but we was more than happy to pay, only one thing on the down side is the price of the drinks but they are worth the money

Lovely place, we ordered the salt and pepper squid which if it wasn't for the sweet chilli dip it was totally bland? And we both had the mixed grill for our main, found the gammon too salty, the steak was grizzly and tough so overall we were fairly disappointed especially as the food is not the cheapest here.

Had a super Sunday lunch with a huge menu option for both kids and adults I was very impressed. The food was delicious and speedy in its arrival. All the staff were friendly and polite. Literally couldn't have asked for more. Very happy with all three courses, will return and highly recommend.

Spent an hour with my friend Russell at Fairfield Hospital this morning. And on the way home, I popped into the Bottle and Glass Dining Rooms (which I've been promising myself I'd do, every time I've driven along the Rainford Bypass for the past decade or two🤦‍♂️). And I wasn't disappointed. 🥰 Spoilt by Kenny and Becky, they treated me to the Chef's Special Eggs Benedict (with a delightful twist), and I think I'll be popping in there more often now I've broken the ice. It was delicious (and the staff are magnificent). Russell told me that "life is a progression of some very small steps" all of which combine together as "The Journey", so today I ticked off another tiny step with a Brunch in a place I'd never ventured into before. And I'm so very glad that I did. I think one day in the very near future, I might just toddle along to that jetty in Keswick I've been promising to go get photographs of since I first heard of it in 2012. I'm feeling in a much better place now I've got my Life Plan back on track. "Small Steps" start with a proper hearty brunch 😉 And a decent cuppa that went with it, too. #EXCELLENT 5STARS(+) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
