We’ve eaten here a few times and the food is usually freshly prepared and reliably good. But on this visit, we weren’t blown away by the Sunday roast. The roast potatoes were under seasoned, the veg was over seasoned and we’d be amazed if the lamb was freshly roasted/carved, it seemed pre sliced and was very average. The service was friendly, but slow rather than steady, we had young children in our group and their food came with the starters so they had to wait a really long time before the rest of us were ready to order the desserts, giving them time to get quite restless. We also had a missing meal from every course, and had to remind the staff of what had been ordered. It was nice enough but I wouldn’t race back for a Sunday roast.

Visited this morning, ordered 2 large breakfasts, 2 teas and 2 cakes to take home. The breakfasts were served, we noticed items were missing off both plates, I informed the waitress who was lovely and asked if we would like anything else, so we asked for an extra pot tea to share as we was already eating, (apparently items had just ran out when it came to plating ours up? The table across who ordered before me was also missing items?) The manager came over and said we wasn't allowed another pot of tea but we could have an extra hash brown each.... confused because surely a tea bag is less expensive than 2 hash browns?? Manager brought us the hashbrowns... frozen still in the middle. When we first visited the day after reopening after renovation, the whole service was spectacular, absolutely faultless, what's happened? Cakes were great and so was the tea.

Had an afternoon tea for a 60th celebration at The Walled Garden. One of the best I've had yet. Staff were so lovely, welcoming and accommodating. They'd set out the ' conservatory' area, overlooking the garden which was so thoughtful. The food was freshly made as we arrived and it was delicious, right from the soup, croquettes, sandwiches, freshly baked (still warm) scones and cakes. Plus, as a bonus, the chef sent out a complimentary, celebration brownie for the birthday girl !!! A very special touch. Had a walk in the lovely grounds too. A very relaxing, calm and clean place. Thank you all at The Walled Garden! We're planning our next celebration to have there!!!

Popped here for breakfast on a Saturday morning with the family. I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon with toast and mushrooms. The only disappointment was the mushrooms are the large field type and not button. Toast and butter was lovely, bacon nice (thick sliced too), egg good and very nice fresh orange juice.

I visited this morning the hotel to deliver something to one of the hotel guest where I received an excellent guest or stakeholder services by the reception member called Paul and one girl ambassador or receptionist at the hotel reception. They helped me out of the box which is very admirable. I found an impresive atmosphere and friendly communication between team members which indicates they have received a satisfactory training by the seniors. Hope to see you again one day Thanks M Banatwala

Just a regular Tuesday night stay over for work, called in for a lonely hearts table for one… quiet restaurant so wait times we’re at a minimum. Ordered a lovely glass of Malbec ready for my Rare Sirloin Steak. Steak arrives at the table and more well done then Rare, slightly disappointed with this, the staff more than happy to change it and redo it, to which came back absolutely perfect with a peppercorn sauce that I have to say is probably one of the best I have ever had, Fantastic turn around and one happy customer that is for sure, hence taking the time to right this review. Dessert… Salted caramel sundae, you will not be disappointed. Another level of status satisfaction. If you’re in the area… give the place a try. Well done team.

What a terrible disappointment. We have eaten at the green Man several times over the years. It’s gone from a vibrant country pub to a disaster. The pub is nice, the surroundings and Garden are beautiful But the food was diabolical!! There were 2 teenage girls running the pub, not a Manager or adult present. The young girls were very gracious but they were to inexperienced to deal with customers. The pub was empty, but for 9 people including our selves in the garden. The toilets were unclean. I specifically told the staff that I could not eat garlic, but the potatoes were cooked in Garlic, I also think the vegetables had garlic, even though the chef denied it. The beef was so tough it was inedible. I brought it home for the dog. No deserts were offered. We left at 6pm and the girls closed the pub after we left. The pub is apparently closed 3 days a week now. The Landlord or brewery need to get a grip, it cannot be a viable business any longer. One final thing, the small amount of potato I ate with garlic on made me feel very Ill. If it was a nut allergy and they ignored it, I could be very seriously ill now

So don’t be too confused, but the pub is a good pub and serves good pub food, and it’s also got in the back half the Theatre St Restaurant with its own menu and service. It’s nice! Lots of effort gone into the decor, and very friendly service with an interesting menu. Few things unavailable which was a shame, but still plenty of good options. Lovely starters, main course steaks / duck / seafood special were all good but not outstanding. Nice option for an early evening dinner, but by 22:00 we were pretty much the last people there. Good value, and worth a visit.
