Had a lovely Sunday lunch with my very good friend's, we would definitely recommend to anyone, the staff there are lovely pleasant people and the meals bob on xx

We went back to Walled Garden to celebrate an anniversary and had a great lunch. The wine was a highlight and the food well priced and plentiful. We had flatbreads and then a few snacks on the side, Halloumi fries and garlic bread. The Staff knew their produce and were experienced in hospitality which isn’t always the case anymore. We were surprised the place wasn’t busier, but wondered if the new coded barrier on the car park contributed to this aspect as it took a while for the call to be answered. Understand why it’s there, but it doesn’t encourage customers. Overall really enjoyable and we will return in the near future.

Service was very good, but food was disappointing. It was OK, but not for the prices charged. Very bland sweet potato soup, with half a slice of stale supermarket white bread. No herbs for decoration, no cream, nothing. Lamb main was very unimaginative. Meat was fine, but just a small portion of dry and tasteless dauphinoise potatoes, boiled green beans and a rather thin and somewhat tasteless sauce to go with it - sauce wasn't even salted properly. Someone had the pork main which was a bit dry and overcooked. No frills basic cooking, not what I'd expect for the prices charged.

Dined last night during an overnight stay with my husband for a special birthday celebration. After the initial confusion re dinner bed and breakfast menu choice, we ordered two courses, steak/prime burger. Absolutely delicious food, prepped and served beautifully. So fine that we have re booked specifically for the dining experience. This morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast too! All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Such a refreshing change to encounter staff that seemed to really be enjoying their job. Thank you all, we look forwards to returning soon x

Had a fab birthday celebration, just myself and friend, at the Walled Garden, Barton . Jithin, the main waiter, was very helpful and respectful of our wishes. We had a 2 course Sunday lunch - beef and fruit crumble, whikst being accompanied by live soft chart music. The beef was so tasty, vegetables were 'al dente' and the gravy was 'out of this world'! You will love the crunchy crumble topping too! For my friend's birthday, the young singer/ guitarist played Happy Birthday, and the chef had iced a special dessert plate for her, who, afterwards, said it felt like the most special birthday so far! Thanks to all Jithin's team!

Had afternoon tea, a lot of food to get through. We all took doggy bags home, noticed other clients also taking food home.

Friendly welcoming staff wanted to accommodate each persons wishes. A lovely atmosphere and great tasty food overall good experience

It was really strange to visit this restaurant. It was almost entirely empty on a Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when I would have expected it to be heaving with people having roast dinners and passing trade and etc. The food was ok but it was a little underwhelming. The starter we had was black pudding bonbons with mustard and creme fraiche and whilst they were fine, they were nothing to write home about. The dressing was literally wholegrain mustard mixed with a tiny amount of creme fraiche so it was really overpoweringly mustardy. The roast dinner again was okay but it was a little unbalanced with quite a large quantity of meat, only a tiny serving of potatoes, some overcooked vegetables, and a Yorkshire pudding which seemed like it came out of a packet. The coffee was pretty poor as it was Starbucks but that's not their fault because Starbucks is always awful as they make their roast very bitter. Fixed it with a bit of sweetener. The service was okay but there was a really uncomfortable atmosphere like the person serving didn't really want to be there or wasn't interested in being there. Which I suppose is entirely fair in a restaurant that's completely empty on a Sunday afternoon.

Food is lovely here, we went for the festive menu. Saw a few people having festive afternoon tea which also looked good. Staff friendly, helpful and polite. It was quiet for a Saturday in December but this suited us.

We visited. The walled garden for a try out because we’ve booked for all the family for Boxing Day , the food was really lovely , the staff were lovely and it felt very welcoming , so roll on Boxing Day for a family get together , we’ll also be back for more week day meals , a new find 😌

We had Sunday Lunch in the Walled Garden Restaurant. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We all had a different meal and everyone was really good. We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely restaurant but really quiet for a bank holiday. Good food and good service.

Used to love this place but the quality has majorly slipped. I was served a stupidly oversized burger that was just raw meat in the middle, my partners was the same. The server dropped one of my tables dishes and took forever to replace the meal, leaving one person eating alone. The staff don’t know what drinks are on tap and the kids selection is a joke. Ordered a garlic bread starter for a little one and they served a full pizza sized garlic bread which is just stupid. Walled garden have lost a customer here along with the extended family who also used to hold it in high regard

We went for a lovely meal on Friday evening and ended up going again on Sunday to try out to try out the Sunday lunch menu so I’m going to tell you about both. Friday evening we ordered off the new menu, we had scallops & prawns they were both delicious, then all 3 of us had the cod dish from the mains, it was absolutely beautiful fresh fish, could eat it again just thinking about it. They had a live singer singing background music too which was a really lovely touch. The service was fantastic, Josip (the manager) and Samantha were both not only lovely & welcoming but both fantastic at their job. So good we booked to go again with my parents on Sunday. We all had different starters but all throughly enjoyed what we had, then it came to the main course, sirloin of beef (we all had the same) I’m usually very disappointed in Sunday lunches mainly because you get overcooked meat & potatoes, you can tell they’ve been cooked earlier in the day, anyway not in this case, we were asked how we would like the beef cooking, we all said medium rare & that’s exactly what we got, it was delicious, the potatoes were names ‘parmenter’ potatoes, to me they were simply small roast potatoes, they were tasty, crispy on the outside & very soft in the middle, the veg was beautiful too, best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time (eating out). Again the service was absolutely fantastic (didn’t get the names unfortunately) then the manager Josip started his shift & made a point of coming to our to table to greet us. Two wonderful meals, amazing service, will definitely be back soon.

Amazing service along with delicious food! We went as a family of 6 and were soooo impressed. Jossip and his team were attentive from the second we arrived and we felt very comfortable and welcome. The food was outstanding! From starter through to dessert, every mouthful was delicious! Prawns, scallops, wings, lamb (x4!!) and desserts, all to die for!!! Have not been here four years but will DEFINITELY be going again soon.

Very nice. Starter lacked taste. Main course was tastiest fish I've ever had but needed more potatoes. Didn't like the sweet as deconstructed and to me didn't have the same elements as what it was supposed to resemble. Did have the drink we asked for which is poor for a hotel.

We visited The Walled Garden for a mid-week dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat in the 'summer house' overlooking the very interesting gardens and had two courses: steak and burger, brownie and an intriguing "Manchester Tart" - just don't expect anything like the traditional version! Highly recommended.

Called in without a reservation but there were plenty of tables available. Limited choice for light lunch but we both enjoyed our choice of flatbreads (pizza). Didn’t have a dessert but good choice and large cup of coffee.

Just had roast beef Sunday lunch. Absolutely delicious. Followed bt sticky toffee pudding and husband had hot cross bun bread and butter pudding.. Both desserts were lovely. Definitely recommended. Service was great, polite and friendly.

We had a really nice Sunday lunch here for my birthday. The roast dinner, in particular, was excellent and the beef was perfectly cooked. Really nice vegetables and crispy, roast potatoes as well, this was one of the best roast dinners I've had. The starters were also very good, in particular the cooked brie was very well done. My wife's salmon came late due to an ordering error but they gave us a round of free drinks to apologise and I thought that made up for it. I've knocked a star off though because dessert wasn't great, the Eton Mess was mostly cream and had too little meringue and was covered in really bitter, sour berries. My daughter found these too sour as well in her sundae - I'd swap them for strawberries in future.

Beautifully cooked and presented food. The dishes we chose were excellent quality; salmon with chilli and caper sauce, roast beef with all the trimmings, sausage and mash. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the request from the waiter on 3 occasions to take our orders early as the kitchen was expecting some big orders which made us feel rushed.

The food was inedible, ordered panini with chicken and spicy mayo, bread was stale, breaded chicken was cold and soil on lettuce. No wonder the restaurant was empty, really gone down hill since new the hotel changed hands.

Really lovely meal to celebrate my mum’s 70th on Boxing Day. We chose here having been before and due to the menu not being Christmas based. Great selection of meals and excellent value for the three courses for £23. We were very well looked after throughout, the staff were fantastic and so attentive. Nothing too much bother and even created a kids burger which wasn’t in the menu. There were plenty of other diners and we were sat in a little conservatory type area which was perfect for the three under 4s that were with us. Thank you to all that helped make my mums birthday special. We will most definitely return. Happy New Year to you all. Apologies I was so preoccupied I only took a pic of the cheese bon bons 😬 which were lovely.

My friend and I decided to go for Christmas Lunch. We often went before Covid. So we were looking forward to a really nice meal. Very dissapoined with what we received. The turkey was pretty tasteless, the roasted carrots and parsnips were overcooked, the roast potatoes were still raw in the centre, the gravy was like water. The Christmas pudding was lacking in flavour, and very little custard, we did ask for more. For drinks we had a large bottle of sparkling water. The bill came to nearly £40. When we went in there were only two people in the restaurant, no atmosphere at all. Most unlikely to return.

We had a family gathering evening meal here to celebrate daughters graduation. The service was really good with friendly helpful waitress. The food was excellent with a good choice across the menu. We also had Breakfast at the restaurant the following day, the full English self service buffet was superb, with a great choice. Also cold buffet available. 10/10

Great covid-19 defence in place. Staff lovely with good attitude to patrons and each other. Plenty of customer service and interaction. Limited menu but well presented fresh food. Shame there is no tomato juice! LOL. Starters came out quickly and mains not long after table clearance. Fish was cooked to perfection with light crisp batter. Mushrooms had just the right amount of cream and garlic.

Whilst in the area today, i called to make a reservation at the Walled Garden Restaurant, which i picked up on google. Booking over the phone was quick & easy & on arrival i was offered a choice of seating either inside or out, so of course asked to be seated outside in the sunshine. The dining area was lovely with beautiful views of the garden & the staff where really attentive. Then Sunday menu offered a variety of dishes including an afternoon tea which looked amazing with a variety of cakes & sandwiches, however i opted for the chicken ceaser salad which was simply lush & reccomended by the loveliest of waitresses, a young lady from Athens called Sarah. Finishing off with the most amazing sticky toffee pudding & a latte, the meal & service was first class from start to finish & well worth the value. The experience certainly offered the wow factor & with staff as pleasent as Sarah, i actually thought i was on holiday in Greece lol, so hats of to the team & a big thankyou for a great day.

We drove over to Preston today from Leeds to see my son ( he’s at uni there) and just googled where to eat, so I booked us a table at The walled Garden , from the minute we walked in we was greeted by a wonderful young lady extremely pleasant and helpful, we where shown to our table and then we had a young gentleman wait on us again amazing service, the food was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, we will definitely be going back when we are back over in PrestonThank you for a lovely experience Sam

Great steak but menu was limited to 2 or 3 course set menu, no Al la carte but probably an economical solution to the current climate.

Does not even deserve a 1 star.Tea - half served. I didn’t even receive a full cup/mug.Food - sandwiches were okay.However when asked what was served, we got told ‘it’s all vegetarian’ and the waiter went.Not sure why it was hard to simply state what was in them?Scones - like a brick. So so hard and dry and crumbly. I have a video to show however can not upload. Upon stating my concerns, we got told the scones had been pre baked and left under the light due to which they have become hard and nothing can be done.There was 1 customer (couple) when I entered. It is beyond unacceptable that the food and service was not on point when the restaurant isn’t busy! The waiter took off the extra charge from the bill for cappuccino and hot choc ( only tea and coffee comes in the afternoon tea price) to compensate this kind of food.Unacceptable. Unimpressed. DO NOT RECOMMEND.NB: lighter left on the wall. Child was present in the restaurant shortly after we entered.

We chose this restaurant as we had heard positive feedback about it. However the whole experience was very disappointing.Although the staff were pleasant and friendly, we had to prompt them to bring us essential items like plates and cups. The food was ok but not amazing and the staff were vague when we asked what were the sandwich fillings. The worst part was that halfway through our tea, staff came into our alcove and started noisily moving furniture. Although the restaurant was nearly empty (it was before 5 o clock) they then seated 4 very loud people next to us. We coudn't hear ourselves talk above the shouting and swearing of this group and so we left before finishing our tea (staff did kindly box this for us). We were hoping for a relaxing and pleasant afternoon of catching up with friends but it ended up as something actually quite stressful. This restaurant has received some recent positive reviews but sadly our afternoon tea was of a similar poor experience to those posted in January.

We thought our evening meal was very good but our medium rare steak was most definitely overcooked and our breakfast like yesterday's food, my wife ask for a gluten free breakfast as she has Celiac Disease and most people think it's just a fad or something ( it's serious and most definitely Not a fad.) I had a Greek salad and a burger, my wife olives and a pizza. Everything was delicious. The service was faultless.

Excellent food and service. Had the Greek salad to start and that was super. However, the burger... oh lordy! One of the best I've ever had. And I eat a lot of burgers. My wife and I have been coming here for over twenty years and it never lets you down.

Our family celebrated a birthday with an afternoon tea. Even though we had to sit at two seperate tables (social distancing regulations) we had an excellent afternoon. The food was excellent, the service was very attentive and it was a very civilised but relaxed afternoon. The manager even allowed me to split the bill, so I could pay for my share of the full total. Some of our party went for a very enjoyable walk in the grounds and the rest of us relaxed with fresh pots of tea and plenty of leftovers. Overall, a great experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We have visited the Walled Garden on several occasions in the past and thought we would book a visit for Sunday Lunch recently. On arrival we were shown to a sitting out area near the main bar but in the end went straight to our table as it was ready. As the table appeared to be dark with not much light and was close to a serving station we asked to be moved. We were shown to a table in the corner of a small conservatory which was already occupied by a group of 8 people. We had hoped for something quieter but in the end they didn't annoy or upset us.We thought the menu was quite light and could have benefitted from a couple of additional choices. In the end we settled for a starter of salmon and soup, followed by a pork Sunday roast and coffee to finish as we couldn't manage a dessert!! The food was excellent with ample portions for the main course and the service was very good indeed with excellent staff who were quite friendly and chatty. At around £40 for both of us it represented good value for money.

So didn’t really no about this hidden gem a friend of mine went and recommend it to me because you just see it as a hotel and not a restaurant !!! So I took my family I am local from the area and have been to every pub and restaurant in the area !!!! The food was out of this world the staff were amazing !!! I cant believe this has been here all this time and we hadn’t been !!! Fantastic menu choices !!!! Something for everyone !!! Great friendly service and very reasonably priced already booked next Sunday for our lunch as I here there the best mmmmmm can’t wait !!!! We have finally found a fantastic place to take me and the family!!! Well done to all the amazing staff I hope people read this and get the experience we did xx

Visited on Friday for Afternoon tea and it was fantastic. tasty sandwiches and scones were perfect, trifle was also really nice, good all round service and were very accommodating seeing as we hadn’t booked in advance will be back again.

Lovely place But the food was very disappointing I’m sad to say. We only got 4 small finger sandwiches which weren’t very nice. The scones were rock hard & the vegetarians sandwiches were even worse they consisted of 1 egg mayo & 3 cheese & pickle. The tea didn’t even taste good. It was a good job the company I was with was great as it made up for the bad food. I won’t be going again & I wouldn’t recommend their afternoon tea. Not worth the money.

Came for afternoon tea for my mother’s birthday, wouldn’t be somewhere I usually would pick but wasn’t my choice. A server knew someone in our party and proceeded to stand and have a 10 minute + conversation which wasn’t appreciated while we were out celebrating someone’s birthday and to be honest it came across completely unprofessional come say your hellos and leave.There was 5 of us in total 4 standard teas and 1 vegetarian While it was beautifully presented unfortunately that was all The 4 regulars teas - the pallet provided didn’t really work especially with the deserts it’s afternoon tea you expect it to be light and fresh it wasn’t the traditional fillings advertised The vegetarian- please don’t advertise yourself as vegetarian friendly if the only option you have for sandwiches is x1 egg sandwich and the rest are all cheese and Pickle’s and when I say sandwich I mean small slithers it’s disappointing that’s all you can think of? However my brother ate one of the pickle sandwiches because we couldn’t really figure out fully what was in there and confirmed it tasted of salmon? Which tells me the same knife and all food is contaminated? The server couldn’t tell me if the jelly was vegetarian or not. Let’s talk cakes:there was one cake which was lovely and light Unfortunately there was only one small serving per tray but the chocolate one is far to rich and heavy and shouldn’t be part of afternoon tea. Overall stop trying to be extra if this was actually a traditional afternoon tea as advertised, less kitchen contamination and better options this would potentially have been a lovely afternoon out. I did have to stop and pick up some food on the way home I won’t be back again not recommend to anyone else.

We recently booked for afternoon tea as the last time we went it was a lovely experience. On arrival we had to wait until someone spotted us and then when the waitress attended to us her sour attitude did not give a good first impression. Now having been here before you expect things to be as pleasant as the last time. Firstly i will point out that 2:30 is a stupid time to start afternoon tea when most establishments start then from 12:00 noon. So we had to sit and wait before anyone came to ask what afternoon tea we would like to order. One of us chose tea and the other coffee. These were brought out but at no point after that were we asking did we want anymore. The food arrived and was brought by the surly waitress who I think is some sort of senior person. We were disappointed with what was on offer. There was something lacking when you compare it to the last visit. As well as sandwiches last time and a sausage roll we had small wraps which were gorgeous. These were missing this time round. The food tasted good but the whole experience needs to up its game. It’s almost like your showed to a table given your food and then forgotten about. With so many other places doing afternoon tea which may I add are far superior The walled garden needs to look at what could be done to make the experience better.

Booked afternoon tea online for 6 people then telephoned to a a 7th to the booking. When we arrived it was empty but they made a real fuss about the extra person!The hot savoury was a sausage roll but we got pork pie instead but the 7th person got chicken dippers instead as they only had 6 and weren’t expecting 7 people!The Waiter was hopeless and couldn’t grasp that 2 of us didn’t want cranberry or pickle on our sandwiches so they brought everything plain!The scones were nice but that was the best bit of it. It used to be better than this and we won’t be back! No wonder it was quiet!
