Guild Merchant in Preston

We visited this pub on Sunday 13th October for lunch, a party of 4 adults. The pub was nicely decorated warm and comfortable. Menu as you would expect in a pub The staff was welcoming, courteous and efficient. 2 of our party ordered Sunday lunch, one beef one turkey both meats where tasty and tender and was served with seasonal vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. The other 2 ordered lasagne and fish and chips both meals where very tasty x prices where average. All in all very nice and would definitely visit again Thank you guild merchant staff for the warm welcome and friendly service,

I recently dined in the Guild merchant with my partner for the first time the other day and I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience… been to a few chain pubs and they’re all the same but there was a nice atmosphere and the staff were lovely… I think his name was Luke who served me and he was very helpful and polite.. I had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger and it was lovely… I would return again thankyou

The staff are delightful - Amelia especially. Not ideal for a quiet pint. Not eaten here recently but food looks good and heard good things about it.

Brought my friend for a birthday tea and a catch up, just us two. Good food options including vegan choices for me, and good pints too. The service was just perfect, one item of my friend's meal was cold and the server immediately addressed it, bringing a fresh portion as quickly as possible, and then checking in to ensure the rest of our food was good. She then spotted the birthday card and even brought my friend a birthday dessert too! The food and drinks were good and the place is nice, but the service is just brilliant, especially tonight with MJ - a credit to the place!

Been to the guild several times however can see an improvement since the new manager took over Luke.. he is really welcoming and polite. I had steak and it was spot on just how I asked. Would highly recommend the food. The cleanliness off the pub was spot on and all staff was polite. Bonus the pub has a bouncy castle this kept the kids entertained whilst waiting for food.

Brilliant pub and the new landlord has made a massive difference. Great happy hour offer and atmosphere is great to. Keep it up guys

Been for a sunday roast and it was amazing 👏 friendly staff and the manager Luke is lovely and is doing and amazing job too.

Been to a lot of your standard pubs for Sunday lunch, all have been ok, but the one we had at the guild merchant is probably the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had while dining out. It was fantastic, nice soft meat, nice roast potatoes, mash was nice and smooth no lumps in it which I often come across when going elsewhere. And the Yorkshire puddings, the picture doesn’t do the justice , fantastic! We then decided we wanted a dessert, Which again was amazing. Will be coming back again!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Guild Merchant in Preston. First time since Luke became the new Manager. Good to meet him and he's doing a good job in improving everything. Staff pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be going back soon.

Heard that the pub had a new manager, and that there was a quiz night on Sundays. Had a great night - food was lovely, and a really good menu. So good we went back for music bingo on the Wednesday, decided to try something different from the menu - prawn Thai curry and wasn't disappointed. Music bingo was brilliant, lovely friendly atmosphere and another good night. Will definitely be going back.

New owner is really making a difference to the place. The atmosphere has really picked up the past few weeks and the food has massively improved from where it used to be. The place is also dog friendly inside and outside which is amazing and they have their own little doggy menu now.

Had the curry plus drink offer on Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed it. the food was nice and hot and very good. The new landlord Luke was very pleasant and remembered my name when he came to our table. The pub was also quite busy with people eating. Keep up the good work.

It was a pleasure to meet Luke, the new manager of this pub. Was greated with a warm welcome and all the staff were happy. The food was also spot on, came out fresh and piping hot. Will definatly be returning

Came in for a pint after work, despite it being busy on a Monday night I was served very quickly by a lovely girl named Keira, the new owner Luke was pleasant and greeted me, even gave me a tour around the bar, very attentive and friendly staff. Would definitely come again and their beer selection is brilliant!

Service was fast and efficient however who i’m assuming is the ‘temporary management’ had a strong scent of cannabis on her which was highly off putting. Me and my family will not be returning as if this is what’s acceptable to the management then god knows what goes on behind closed doors.

This is my first time to this establishment. Wonderful reception from the beautiful and friendly bar lady Casey. Great service and with a smile at all times. Even gave me a few quid to play the pool. The place it's self is friendly and a great atmosphere, clean amd spacious. I did not have food, but it looked ok from what I had seen. I will be back

Good food and wonderful service

We popped in for tea, it is not somewhere we usually frequent as we often go to Owd Nells for convenience on the A6 route. It was a lovely experience the bar staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Casey waited on us and nothing was too much trouble, I thanked the chef on leaving as the food was particularly good, tasty, in a good time and portions were generous. We will definitely will return!

Came to drink was served by Casey we come in every Tuesday and Friday after golf happy with reduced prices on Tuesday wish it was more often, service good the pub is on an estate and several people do not go due to rising costs

Really welcoming staff. Clean and tidy establishment with a decent sized beer garden. Draught was on point. Casey, behind the bar, was happy and polite and offered advice on what to drink, came over and made sure everything was ok. Would visit again.

We came for food a few weeks ago and it was great! I think the lady who served us was called Caitlin and she was very helpful and nothing was too much to ask for.

As a member of staff who also visits the pub as a customer, the service, quality of food and drinks has greatly improved in little over a week. Elaine is doing a great job getting the standards back to where they should be!

Dreadful experience. tables were filthy, food had to be sent back as it was cold. Blatant drug dealing taking place. Place needs to be shut down.

What a mess. The management were hiding or just didn't care, a family of 3 shouldn't have been so hard to serve. We all had dinner at 3 different times. Not good enough

It took a long time to be served our food. No cask ales. No Specials on offer. Food was totally overpriced and of a poor quality. The Staff were totally inadequate. Will definitely be our last visit.

Oh my God, I have to say this was a fantastic meal on the place was amazing. The staff was amazing I had the best meal I’ve had for a long time couldn’t do enough for me I will definitely be back with all my family. Thank you so much to the manager, much improved.

The food did come out pretty quickly, only 2 main courses, however it was really overcooked. That is the chips and scampi. The tomato was neither fresh nor cooked, a bit in between. It would be lovely to have a local that has atmosphere and good food, but unfortunately this had neither.

Totally rubbish. Steak was rock hard, fatty, full of grislle, chips were re fries and as for the pepper sauce, hardly none. Go eslewhere

Horrendous customer service from the bar man (luke) Slammed the till shut and stormed off into the kitchen after we had paid for our desserts.... which he still managed to get wrong and still forgot one ! The pubs nice, just need staff that are good with customers!

Well where do I start with this, booked a table for 18 people on Friday, pre ordered all the food and sent it in on Thursday as requested. Starters came out had to ask for a spoon for the soup and also butter for the bread, then mains came out this is where the problem started, a chicken burger came instead of a cheese burger and then proceeded to say we had ordered a chicken burger and not a cheese burger and we just had to put up with it as they would not make it again even though a cheese burger was definitely ordered, another 2 member of the party received kids meals instead of adult meals and another member of the party never received there food he asked them and he got told it had never been ordered but again it had been ordered so by the time he got he's food everyone else had already finished. Food wasn't even good either. A member of the party then went to go and order some drinks to be asked who was paying this bill as it was getting to a big amount and wouldn't serve him insinuating that we was goinf to leave without paying IF YOU CANT CATER FOR LARGE GROUPS, JUST STATE THAT YOU CAN'T, totally ruined the whole evening, the girl on the bar was really rude and her customer service skills are shocking. We won't be returning and will be letting others no about the shocking service

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and convenient location

The worst meal we've had in a long time. The fish was cooked until dry! The mixed grill was treated similarly though the request was for rare steak! The chicken breast was dry and shrivelled from over cooking. The egg that was advertised was not served at all and both we and the waitress didn't know there wasn't any eggs until aftercthe meal was served. No reduction offered. After complaining that the steak was dry another so called rare steak was served which must have hit the pan quickly and flipped over and not rested of course so the plate was flooded in blood. This was Monday. Don't go there on Monday ( or Tuesday- same cook).

Be prepared for a 45-50 minute wait. Then the food is of varying quality. If the menu says it comes with gravy or tartar sauce, maybe remind them at the till that you do actually want that, as opposed to dried up food. Certain menu options are better than others. I’d never been to The Guild before, but always keen to try new places. Vouchers were delivered to us in leaflets, so we gave it a try. Unfortunately it’s not a favourite; there are many better places. Marstons at The Ribble Pilot is good, nice inside, and has a nice location.

We ordered and waited 2 and a half hours being told they did not have any beef burgers or salad it was appalling we asked for a refund and got it. There was 2 members of staff who were lovely and doing their best and it was those 2 ladies who got the brunt from very unhappy customers it was not fair. Whoever runs the pub should be sacked. I won't be going there again until they change the management

Clean and tidy but a typical football pub for the amount of people inside the volume was to loud so didn't enjoy to eating experience as could not have a conversation without talking loud the food was warm so a bonus

Would not go here again or recommend to friends. After waiting 50 minutes for our food I asked the barmaid if she could check on it and she did, but never got back to us, after waiting a further 15 minutes we received the food. Tables that came in after us and was seated around us received their food within 10 minutes of ordering. The adult meals were served lukewarm and the children’s meal was served too hot resulting in my daughter waiting even longer to eat her food. Having visited the guild merchant previously we are disappointed with this service today and will not be returning.

Great management has transformed this pub into a popular choice. Food is always good and there's a decent choice as well as pub classics. Beer prices remain a bit high though.

This was the first time back in ages because it had gone downhill. Sorry to say the Mothers Day experience was like being in a holiday camp club room. Kids running about everywhere, throwing things on the floor, numerous people bringing their own food in from Sainsburys next door and some openly vaping at the tables inside. One kid was riding around on a scooter knocking into people. Absolutely no idea where the parents were. I appreciate a big football game was on but the shouting and language was worse than actually being at the match. I saw two sets of people sit down then walk out again. It’s such a shame, it’s a lovely cozy pub and the staff are very nice and extremely hard working but there’s a real problem with levels of acceptable behaviour from the customers.

I had not been to the Guild merchant for a while and was pleasantly surprised how welcoming it felt. The seating was arranged in cosy groups perfect for catching up with friends and family. The food was fairly priced, well presented and very tasty. I had the new chicken and mushroom pie. The staff were friendly and Becca especially was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed and checked that we had enjoyed our food

Nice staff, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Will be coming back again soon. Our children were even given colouring to do while we waited for food.

First time I’ve been here in a long time, was a very enjoyable experience. The food was top notch! As was the service from Becca….would recommend to everyone who likes a good local pub.

10/10, is a very nice pub with friendly staff. My son who is a very fussy eater seemed to enjoy it a lot. The price wasn’t bad but I understand that even if it was there is nothing the staff or management can do as it’s Marstons menu. The staff was very nice to my family and made us feel very welcome. Overall was a lovely day out and will be back very soon.

Me and my family have recently visited the pub. The pub was immaculate, very well presented. All the staff was very helpful and offered my children drawings and colours while they was waiting for their meals. Tom really stood out to ourselves with his polite manner and the way he was very helpful with deciding what he recommends for us to try for our meals. Normally I would give this place a 5* for food and service but after the new management and chef change it’s actually nowhere near as good. Half of the food wasn’t available, when we did get food the portion sizes have shrunk, the prawn starter was absolutely tasteless and normally is a generous portion, we visit the guild merchant often as we live around the corner and the food has always been amazing and the prices too. The food is nowhere near as good as the previous chef, we all order our usual food choices but it was bland & we won’t be using the guild as our weekly eating out place any more. The orders were wrong, we waited ages for food which all was served at different times. I’m absolutely gutted. Get the previous chef back !!!!

Went in yesterday with my family of 5 to check out the new managers, can’t fault it at all the food and service was spot on nothing like it has been before. Defo be returning again. Thanks Mike for the warm welcome.

The food waS good but the service was slow and only instant coffee available. We had to wait while the staff went to the shop for milk
