I was blown away with the quality of the food 😋 I have been many times and always enjoyed but the Christmas Dinner today was amazing 👏 Staff and students very friendly, polite and helpful

Hidden away on an industrial estate, this small, friendly establishment run by Shelley and her husband, serves first-class English breakfast items at remarkably reasonable prices. The fried items (eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, black pudding, etc) are perfect, not in the slightest bit greasy. This place is a treasure.

The Steak was a local “Cowards” steak .. it was a nice thickness , cooked correctly to order . A good steak. The onion rings were very overcooked and just bits of crispy batter . The chips were defent sized and cooked fine. The mushrooms were minute and both of us thought we hadnt received any as they were tiny and a minute portion. No tomato. The drink was a Real Ale , a Golden Ale, very tasty and as usual well kept and presented. This inn received the CAMRA Area award for this past year. The young staff were excellent and well trained , and attentive to everything . My 6,500+ followers on here will know my reviews are unbiased and warts and all , if the onion rings had been much better , this would be a 5 stars review. I reccomend the Norton Arms Inn for a nice meal and ambience. I am not related to any member of staff , and received no benefits for my review as always . Congratulations to the young waiting staff on a job well done, and to the kitchen for the Main course Steak. We will visit again soon. We will visit again soon.

I ordered the scouse with chips and my mother ordered an omelette with chips. The food took 1hr 10mins to arrive. The server was apologetic about the time it had taken and gave complimentary teas. Unfortunately the chips were luke warm and the omelette was greasy. The scouse was very tasty, the only saving grace. Two customers who came in after myself were served before us. It was obvious the cook was not up to scratch. Apparently today was the owners day off. I was not the only one to complain about the poor service. Disappointed.

I have been coming to this cafe for years and it has always been fantastic with lovely people serving and learning new skills. It has recently changed ownership, and unfortunately doesn't seem to be for the best. The decor has however been refreshed and appeals as it is more inviting. The food however was terrible. The mushroom soup was an awful charcoal colour which was very off putting and actually made me feel a bit queasy. The table next to me I saw returning their sandwich because there was a piece of sharp plastic in it. It is a bit worrying when something so simple as a sandwich is being returned due to being contaminated with a foreign object. My wife ordered the quiche - For what was once a lovely quiche recipe it is now just not the same recipe and was cool to eat when it was meant to be served warm. Given all this, they have doubled the prices ! Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate that the prices prior to being taken over were extremely cheap and therefore would be understanding of a need to increase prices to be profitable, but the quality of the food doesn't deserve the prices being charged. It lacked the meaningful atmosphere that once made it feel like a positive place in the community. Too late I know, but bring back the old team and menu I say! Sorry but I won't be returning but will always have fond memories of the times I went there before it was taken over.

Our walking group had lunch at the Childe of Hale on 13 May. What a great pub! Ian the Manager was so helpful and accommodating when I called in a couple of weeks ago to ask if I could bring a group of walkers. Using the pub car park as our meeting point was no problem and he also arranged to let us in to use the toilets before the pub had opened. We had a fabulous walk along the coast as far as the runway of Liverpool airport then back to the pub for lunch. The menu was very varied and the food was delicious and served promptly. Well done Ian and all your staff. 10 out of 10!

Saw good TA reviews and arrived in time for a late breakfast. The location is a bit hidden away and not ideal, on a Runcorn industrial estate close to train station. Very limited parking slots outside, the coach firm next door put cones out on what they feel is their bit of their road. I parked opposite the tyre place on Picow Farm Road. Warm and friendly welcome. I was the only eat in customer, mainly takeout customers. Brekkie was £6 and tasty enough, adequate portion, no need to go large. The tea cost another £1.50 served in a glass teapot and mug, unusual. No toilet facilities that I could see. I’d visit again - if they manage to sort the parking out. Thank you!

We have been going the legion for 2 decades, so sad to see it going down hill recently, Where the jobsworth busy bodies have come from I don't know, they just spoil the experience The food isn't a patch on what it was. Chris. The corner piece of the legion. Great guy. We have stared drinking elsewhere.

Stumbled upon this place by accident. What a find. We had delicious scones straight from the oven and the coffee was great too. Lovely outdoor seating available in/out of the sun. Cheery service. Follow the wee sign from the main road. You won’t regret it.

The food was very well cooked and nicely presented. The batter on the fish was a little oily for me, but definitely not worthy of a complaint as the fish itself was lovely. Service was great, really friendly welcome on arrival and very cheery throughout the meal. One thing we did notice was there was no background music, but it certainly didn’t spoil what was a really enjoyable evening out.
