The Cottage Window Cafe in Halton

Had a Raj toastie made with garlic bread and a range of exotic ingredients. As I ate my way through it a fantastic rainbow of flavours hit my palette! The lime pickle, the cheese, the onion bajee and different sauces from mint to chilli. Delicious!

Dropped into the window cafe when out with the Greyhound Rescue Fife Meetup. Had some Vegan Goa curried vegetable soup and it was awesome. Lovely little location and surprised bur delighted it catered for vegans 😊

“Found a pound on the ground” and spent it at the Cottage Window Cafe. Enjoyed the complimentary “Baileys” valentines chocolate. Excellent service from Ryan on his first day. Thank you 🙏 Alan

My wife and I visited the gardens as we often do with the grandchildren but on this occasion we needed a well earned pick me up so we went to the cafe window where we had a coffee to share for us oldies and the children had a hot chocolate with a twist lol ...the young lady serving who had a great chat with our grandchildren added scooshy cream and . .marshmallows lil.The children loved it .We sat at the bench and savoured our drinks and when refreshed we went to explore the gardens .We'll be back again very soon.

Whilst out for a walk in the area we came across this place. It serves through a window. The scones were great and the coffee was tasty and hot. They also had biscuits for our 2 dogs. Plenty of seating around also.

Silverburn Park is a beautiful park on the Fife Coastal Path on the Lundin Links edge of Leven. The park is now under the stewardship of a local charity and they are doing a great job transforming it from a forgotten gem to a popular visitor destination. The Cottage Window cafe serves through the window and the park has plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the food and drinks

What a wee gem, in lovely surroundings. Friendly server, excellent espresso and chocolate cake. Outside seating, easily accessible from the Fife Coastal Path. Even a choice of treats for the dog. Would highly recommend 🙂

absolutely discussed with the service ! I ordered over an hour ago. I called the restaurant immediately to make sure they had the order. the lady on the phone firstly didn’t speak any English and I got distracted as I was on the phone for 49 min. she said she had my order. I then got a confirmation on justbeat to say my order will be delivered at 18:40. by 19.00 when it didn’t arrive I called and the man on the phone was so rude and said I didn’t order so he can’t make it!! apparently I have to call just eat to sort it out and it’s not his problem. NEVER WILL I ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN.

Awful struggled to find the 1 prawn in my prawn chow mein. He seafood chow mein was just noodles too. Don't bother to order from here. I added notes they didnt look at them. Make whatever dish they want it seems. Really need people not to order from them. Will not be ordering from them again

Late delivery but food is ok as always

Restaurant delivered on time and food was tasty. However they didn't deliver one item (some rice) and when questioned about this were adamant that they had sent it. So either the driver got hungry and ate it on the way over or it wasn't there, but they essentially suggested therefore that I was lying about the missing item. I don't appreciate that and won't order from them again. Which is a shame as they are pretty decent. Still there are plenty of other good places in the area.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! DISCUSTING COLD FOOD, LONG DELIVERY TIME, WORST CHINESE IN LONDON. AVOID!!

The service provided by this 'restaurant' was the worst demonstration of customer service one can ever experience! We have waited for our order over an hour and when called to get some information, we were informed that the driver got into an accident but is ok his way now. Another 30minutes passed and food was still not delivered. When we called back again,the employees just kept passing the phone trying to avoid us. Finally,we got to speak to the 'manager' lady called 'Ho' who was shouting at us and then put the phone down. When we called back,she just kept shouting at us and saying that our order was delivered and would not even speak to us further. Eventually she told us to call Just Eat and ask for refund without apologising. This entire experience was just surreal and on saturday night the family of six people stayers hungry and furious! We are definitely not going to order ever again from this place and would highly recommend everyone not to even consider ordering or dealing with this place!

Food was tasty and arrived ahead of schedule! Sent the wrong drink and was expecting Singapore rice noodles rather than Singapore rice., but it was nice all the same.

You know how there's this unwritten rule about having that 1 place for certain things, e.g. 1 barber place, 1 kebab place etc. If you don't have yours yet, this should be your local Chinese take out place.

You forgot the prawn crackers, also the food used to taste alot better, I threw most of it away.

The meat was disgusting and the prawn crackers tasted like they were on the floor.

i thought the amount of time advised for delivery was steep taking into consideration i only live five minutes away.... however the food was good as always and the assistant I spoke to when I called was friendly.

Food is delicious ... but we would have enjoyed it more if the delivery had arrived on time, not 1 h and 15 mins late! I will think twice if I should order from this restaurant next time I order Take away.

Good food, hit the spot precisely. The Malayan curry was, in truth, adequate, but certainly not bad, while the others were very tasty.

Really awful quality meat in all dishes. Beef with spring onion was inedible. Squid also terrible. Avoid.

I am vegetarian and the vegetarian dishes are the best i ever had from a Chinese Takeaway in London. Sometimes i walk in and the service is really nice as well. This place deserves 5*

We normally love the crispy squid but on this occasion they were soggy and not crispy at all. The prawn crackers also tasted different to what they normally do.

Excellent food. Best I've found in N/W London. Delivery service continues to impress by being incredibly fast...and the food was piping hot. I really like this place and are happy to tell people about it.

Food ok- disappointed with Thai cuisine staple of Pad Thai noodles- bland and didn't have any of the flavours, just some ok but not PT sauce! Curries (red and green) ok but again nothing special. Prawn toast and crispy seaweed v nice. Overall I'd prefer to try somewhere new next time.

The order was an hour late. They promise to deliver in 45 min, we got ours in almost two. Had to call the place twice both times they just said it's on the way. Once arrived, driver didn't say anything, no apology. Food was not worth waiting for so long to say the least. Very disappointing.

OK so maybe shouldn't have ordered the chicken pad thai from a Chinese restaurant. But it was really terrible - no sauce at all, wrong kind of noodles, which were quite slimy. There was OK servings of chillis and peanuts, but otherwise just white onion, no other proper servings of vegetables. Will not purchase again

Since we arrived from Australia, we've been trying Chinese takeaways for the last 2 1/2 years. This is by far the best, most delicious and tender Chinese food that we have found in England. Our search is over. We'll only be buying from The Cottage from now on.

It has been an hour since I paid for my order and I still did not receive my delivery. Not impressed!

Order time of one hour. Twenty minutes late, I call. Turns out the restaurant ignored my order due to a printer problem and neglected to inform Just Eat. I eventually found this out 35 minutes after my order was due and was given a 45 minute wait on a re-order. When the order finally gets here, in the nick of time, the driver runs off without a word of apology. Oh, and for the record - french fries, ordered for my friend, are not the same thing as chips. Definitely not ordering from here again!

This food was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten!

The food is good but when I phoned to say that two sauces had not been delivered all I got was an argument, that the sauces had been included. Then told that they would phone me back, which did not happen. Spoiled the occasion. Guess I'll just go elsewhere in the future

Horrific. They cocked up the order, said they'd send a replacement and without telling me changed their minds... I had to call them to find that out, which led to another promise that they would call me back once they had spoken to the manager... Once again they broke their promise: ten minutes after I called again And was casually told the consultation with he manager had finished some time ago. The unannounced outcome of their secretive meeting was a conditional offer. They had now decided that if I wanted the correct food I had to bring the food to them unopened to prove it. It was an outlandish suggestion, which was intended to call my bluff. Determined, I walked to the restaurant where I was messed around for 5 minutes and then shouted at by a deranged woman who coldly instructed me to "tell just-eat... if they refund you it's not my loss". Incredibly callous abuse of the protocol.

Always superfast delivery and amazing food. I've tried 3 different Chinese takeaway in my local area and nothing comes close to the cottage. Hungry for Chinese? The cottage has your needs

Distinctly Average.! My Szechauan chicken was not spicy and rather bland. The Chicken Chow Men I ordered was a Beef Chow Mein and I dont eat red meat! Will not be ordering from here again.

I love this take away, but they gave me a small hoisin when I asked for a large sweet and sour, they re delivered in 15 minutes, made me give the other sauce back then charged me extra for the new one by this time my food was cold. However it's the best food in the area. Just this time it was super bad service.

I got what I ordered. The food was tasty and hot , the only negative after the as soon as possible option , the time quoted was 75 minutes and it took 85 minutes to arrive.

They didn't have some dumplings I ordered - they called to offer me different dumplings. Called back 30 seconds later to tell me I had to pay 70p extra for the alternate dumplings........ Also Their menu (crispy duck) confusing and charges you more than it should

I've never thrown away a meal before. Curry was bland and greasy, and missing vita ingredients. Pad Thai was flavourless and tom yum tasted of packet tomato soup. Deliver was very late. A payday treat that turned out to be a sore disappointment.

This was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten, was appalled at the standard. My order arrived wrong and the food was so horrible I had to throw it away. I would not recommend this takeaway.

I order a crispy chilli beef which was very nice, a duck fried rice which was ok and a Malay beef curry was really bad, the sauce did not taste good and the potatoes looked shrivelled and old. Don't think I'll be ordering from there again

This is by far the greatest Chinese food in the area. I always get 1-3 takeaways everyweek that's how good it is. Extremely tasty food, very quick delivery time. Have never had a complaint in years

Possible THE worst takeaway I've ever received. Felt like it was supermarket bought and reheated/overcooked. Just awful.

Well... the quality of the food was not too bad BUT for the price one pays, it should really be better. This place is more expensive than all the others that we had ordered from so we expected a lot from it. We ordered the salted squid for appetiser for GBP6.30(!) and the portion was really small and we were so horrified to see about 8 pieces (at most) of squid in the box for that price! All other places charge about GBP4.00 for the same portion. It is after all an appetiser. The other main dishes generally were a reasonable portion but we were just very let down by the appetiser. Will not order from this place again.

Food was great. Chinese greens came in Oyster sauce instead of garlic. That is my only criticism. All the food was amazing. I will order again. We had a house special, a malay dish, green thai curry, coconut rice and ginger and shallots with beef... nom nom nom nom.... good size meals too!
