Jon was incredibly accommodating for a large booking, a lot more so than other places I had enquired with. The Butchers did not disappoint, the staff were friendly and the food was incredible, everyone in our party said how good it was. This place is definitely worth a visit. Thank you so much!

Stumbled across this cafe looking for somewhere dog friendly. As soon as we sat down a bowl of water was brought over for our dog. This was followed by a stream of treats and cold sausage which they kept for furry friends. They cook lots of homemade food to we had some delicious scones but noted they serve toasties, soup, quiches, cakes etc. if you are a dog owner this place is on steroids for you and your pooch.

I hired Laura to be my florist for my wedding and was overwhelmed with how beautiful the flowers that she provided for my and the bridesmaids bouquet , button holes ,and table flowers. The quality and service she gave were brilliant and would highly recommend her.

Acorn Bank is a splendid place to visit and made even more so by a visit to the pop-up cafe situated in the court yard. Run by a mother and daughter team, the homemade cakes using produce from Acorn Bank's garden, a wonderful cup of locally sourced coffee and an extremely warm and friendly welcome made a lovely day out even more special. Highly recommended.

Pooley Bridge is a great location to stay and explore the Northern Lakes with several very welcoming inns with great beer gardens and decent food. The 1863 Restaurant & Rooms however is on a different level altogether. We stayed for two nights in the Luxury Suite (room 7) which, although smaller than we had anticipated, was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The real reason to stay here though is to enjoy the restaurant experience. On our first night we had the 3 course option which was imply superb. The presentation, quality of food and level of attention from the team were all exceptional. We indulged ourselves with the 7 course "Taster" menu on the 2nd night which actually turned out to be almost 10 courses with the little extras that arrived. We thought our first experience would be hard to improve on but night two and the 7 course option was simply sublime. Thank you to all of the team for making our stay so special.

Great little country pub, saved by the locals and run by a super amenable landlord. Serves good food, which is of a high standard and good value. Can get v busy. Probably need to book for dinner. Gordon Ramsey would approve of menu - its not too big and yet everything is consistently done well. Popular with locals and tourists apart. Worth the detour.

Fantastic food, service and environment. We visited in the lull between Christmas and New Year for a family meal to celebrate a mile stone birthday. The service and food were incredible, absolutely faultless. Extra thanks for making a special not on menu dish for the fussy eater.

My husband and I visited this lovely pub on a Monday night. They serve a 2 course set menu for £25 including a drink which we’d seen about on the website before booking and were very interested to try. I had the beetroot skewers and haddock and my husband had sausages followed by sticky toffee pudding and we both really enjoyed everything. The portion sizes were really good for such a good value menu and we both liked the fact that the menu focused on sustainability and trying to reduce waste. Really cosy pub with a welcoming atmosphere and we’ll definitely be back to try their main menu.

We recently stayed on a two night Travelzoo deal. The hotel is finished to a lovely stylish clean standard. The pub food was lovely, fresh and tasty. We did find it a little steeper price wise to what we are familiar with. The room was nicely finished and comfortable. The light did pour through the window when cars drove past at night and also under the door from the hallway which kept me awake. The radiator in the room was technical and it wouldn’t come on so we were happy to have an electric heater too. Breakfast was continental, it was nice but we felt it was missing some meat and maybe more exciting cheeses. The coffee was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful but out of the three we dealt with we felt one of them wasn’t so professional and sincere. Shouting things to the kitchen before the door was closed and generally a bit rude. The check in /out times were a touch late/early. Otherwise well done Dukes head and travelzoo too.

Went for breakfast and definitely made the right choice. Great variety of food .Friendly helpful staff and was nice inside although obviously you would sit outside - looking at the river and amazing view - weather permitting .The food was great and not too bad a price especially for the Lake District.
