Found this little gem by total accident. Wonderful food, catered for our group of fussy eaters, deliciously homemade. Lovely little sun-trap out the front. Very friendly.

I came for lunch with friends who live in Penrith . What a find this is ! Excellent soup and bread, coffee perfect and lovely conversations with Lee( who cooks) and Laura who is a florist. Just the most perfect combination in an unusual setting. I’m definitely going back as often as I can. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This little coffee shop is a gem. It's a husband and wife affair: he cooks, while she runs a floristry from the same premises. Little individual clumps of wild flowers on each table and taller stems dotted about; lovely coffee, great-looking cakes and a warm welcome. don't be put off by the busy road outside, this place is a little bit of magic.

Laura provided beautiful regional and seasonal flowers for our wedding and Lee provided a tasty buffet for our family dinner. A wonderful couple, so helpful and friendly, they have an amazing business in a lovely quirky cafe setting and we couldn't recommend them more highly. We will definitely be back in the near future for a brew and a piece of cake!

We often pop in to Greenwheat, either for coffee or lunch. What I love is being surrounded by flowers and plants, in quirky arrangements... it makes a gorgeous setting, and reminds me of cafes in Germany. The coffee is good and the home made soup is out of this world! We always get a friendly welcome too.

A bit of a hidden treasure. Enter the cafe/flower shop to just fabulous scents of flowers surrounded by beautiful sometimes quirky decorations. Sit down in this incredibly friendly cafe come bistro come occasional pop up first class restaurant and order inventive delicous lunches (I say inventive because I'm a bit old). Definitely worth seeking this place out.

This place is an absolute must. The menu, the food is beyond anything that you would get within a 50 mile radius. Lee is a complete foodie. Go talk to him. Best meal in Cumbria in 22 years. I know my food. This was legendary. Fantastic atmosphere, would recommend the pop up restaurant!

I came here for lunch with a friend just before Christmas. It's a great place to sit for lunch - among the flowers of the florist - and the sandwiches and tea I had were great and reasonably priced. I'll go again.

it is a great place to have lunch. Although it is a small place, the food is worth the stop. This time I had a superb soup and fantastic scone. I couldn't resist the chocolate brownie to go with my coffee. I was with some friends who were delighted with their food choices too. So much so, that we have planned to meet up there next time.

Back at this great fika cafe and shop. Having returned to Penrith for a few days break couldn't resist returning to see if the food and service was as good as last time. Not disappointed. Lunch is a wrap filled to the brim with banana habanero and chicken mayo plus a delicious homemade cake. Plates and cups are as mismatched as on my previous visit. I love this aspect. This is just such a quirky place. Well done to Lee one of the owners for being as helpful with the local attractions as he was with his service. A must to visit.

Yesterday I had a eavening meal at Green wheat and Fika and I really enjoyed it.To start I had the lamb with marinaded golden beetroot salad starter and the passion fruit sorbet. For the main choice I choose the Vegetarian Moroccan style Tagine which came with the Asparagus salad with pine nuts and cheese with a spicy Dressing. Finally I ordered the New York style blueberry cheesecake with raspberry sauce and fresh strawberries.Every time I visit Green wheat and fika I am never disappointed as it's really a great place to have an eavening meal and I really enjoyed being served by the lonely kind staff some of whom I know personally as friends from my past.I would recommend that anyone who is in Penrith books this place as its great although keep in mind that it's only able to fit 20-30 people at one time as its a in a flower shop when it's not a pop up restaurant and cafe. Also if your going as a family group like we did yesterday my best advice would be to see their website and book your table early as this place is very popular and as mentioned above places are limited to 20-30 cover's at a maximum.

Pop up nights so you need to keep an eye open or ring them up to find when the next one is. Good food from a set menu in the evenings staff really nice. It's a small individual place and it's a bring your own bottle re alcohol. A must if you are looking for something a bit different. Popped in for coffee and cake during the day too and was equally as pleased with the bright sunny aspect and a very yummy wrap and piece of home made cake. Slightly off the Main Street in Penrith but worth an extra few minutes walk.

Visited Greenwheat and Fika for one of their Pop-Up nights where they host on a restaurant basis. As there are only a few nights a month to sample this type of evening, I had heard booking a table had to be done in advance as the number of places they can serve is limited due to the size of their small shop. I booked in March and went in May, so this tells you how popular these nights are becoming and how organised you need to be! Although the shop maybe small, this really lended itself to being intimate, and a feeling that you're part of a secret; something that not everyone know's about. I liked the quirkiness of the service - informal; the cutlery didnt match, neither did the plates, and the chairs and tables were all odds and ends from different sets. The service from the three staff was good, and as it's bring your own alcohol, so they weren't trying to push you for sales of drink.Normally selling flowers alongside cafe-style food (sandwiches and cakes etc) through the day, I was interested to see what the evening menu would offer. Although perhaps on the small side (2 starters, 3 mains and 2 deserts to choose from), I wasn't disappointed because the choices were interesting; offerings were something that you don't get in other Penrith restaurants. The two starters were Game Terrine and Black Bream & Scallops Ceviche (I had the latter). Mains were either a Flatiron steak with fondant potato, mushrooms, rocket and hollandaise sauce (which I plumped for), or grilled lemon sole, or finally pan-fired Gnocci with artichokes and sunblushed tomatoes. To finish there was Tiramisu or Gooseberry Panna Cotta. However, I actually I had a desert that wasn't on the menu as I'm quite fussy with deserts due to not liking cream or custard, but Chef was happy to offer me something else that they had in the shop - I ended up having a chocolate and peanut tart. All three courses were lovely, well prepared and tasty. Definitely the best steak I had had in a long time. Portions were a perfect size, and as you got a sorbet (lemon and apple) in between the starter and main, along with coffee/tea and local fudge after desert, you are certainly gastronomically fulfilled after five courses!All-in-all a great night, one I will certainly return to (if I can get a seat). The only negative I can come up with is that it's very small, and although we were situated on a table with enough space I imagine some of the other guests may have possibly felt hemd-in a bit, but then I guess that's all part of the charm.

I have lived in Penrith for years and finally decided to visit Greenwheat flowers! There is a wide range of baguettes wraps and jacket potatoes, all served with genius fillings that you definitely wouldn't find anywhere else in Penrith. My personal favourite was the Banana Habanero and Chicken, which I guarentee will change you life! The service was excellent and the cafe is full of beautiful flowers and amazing local art. Greenwheat Flowers and Fika did a great job for us with both flowers and food. Laura made two wreaths for my Mum and Aunt’s graves, and they are beautiful, as we’d discussed, and more. She generously offered to go to my Mum’s garden and collect some foliage to add to the arrangements, this was such a special touch for the funeral of a garden-lover. Lee made a wonderful buffet, we asked for a range of sandwiches, quiches and cakes. The sandwiches were freshly made with a good range of home-prepared fillings, the quiches were home-made, with ham and vegetarian option. The cakes, scones and tray bakes were all freshly made and delicious. He made a special selection of non-dairy food for my lactose intolerance diet (including millionaire’s shortbread). There was plenty of food for everyone and there were left-overs which we boxed and took home for later! I received good feedback from those who attended and the doggy bags proved very popular, chocolate brownie and lemon drizzle cake seemed to be the favourites! We hired the village hall for the funeral tea, Lee and his team sorted out the arrangements; access, tables, chairs, and cleaned up, we didn’t have to worry about that aspect of the day, it was all taken care of. Thanks Lee and Laura.
