Our second visit to this lovely gastro pub. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us our table and provided us with drinks and food menus. The atmosphere was relaxed and very friendly, every member of the staff team was so incredibly nice, friendly and professional. The menu is quite extensive with an enticing choice of dishes. I chose the 8 hour braised brisket and I have to say, it was just the best dish I've ever had: perfectly seasoned and full of incredible flavour. My partner had the confidence duck salad which he said was amazing. For dessert...the strawberry roulade was fantastic; so light and fresh. I just can't recommend The Butchers Arms highly enough. Fabulous Sunday lunch, generous portions cooked to perfection. Interestingly they serve their full menu on a Sunday not just the traditional Sunday lunch which is good. We came as it was voted the best Sunday lunch in the Lakes on Trip Advisor. I thoroughly agree, well worth a visit.

This was our first visit to The Butchers Arms and our new favourite pub (if only we didn't live 200 miles away). The welcome was extremely friendly, the atmosphere cosy and the food delicious, good value and generous.

This is a real find, had Sunday lunch, the choice is excellent and our food was first class. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff and they are very friendly. It is only a short drive from Shap and has easy parking in the village. For the quality of food presented it is very reasonably priced. Highly recommend a visit.

Popped in for a drink and a snack. The pub was busy and we hadn’t booked, but they quickly found us a table. Quick and excellent service from our friendly and helpful waiter. We just shared some ribs and sweet potato fries which were delicious and presented beautifully but the rest of the menu sounded amazing as well. The beer came in a perfectly chilled glass. I would definitely recommend a visit (and the ribs).
