In the area for a week’s break and just returned from having Sunday lunch and WOW. One of the best Sunday lunches my hubby and I have experienced. He had chicken and I had pork - very generous portions, fresh vegetables, enormous Yorkshire pudding and all food piping hot. Extremely clean environment with professional friendly servers and restaurant manager. Cannot recommend highly enough.

What a great find in Chester. Walked along the canal to this pub. It was hopping asked if we could join a table with a two couples. Ordered drinks at the bar and stuck up a conversation with the people. A good craic as they say. The food was good and plentiful. Vegetarian mushroom pie and fish and chips. Both delicious.

We have visited before and enjoyed it so decided to go for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Warmly greeted by staff member and were able to choose our own table. They were very busy as had a function in the dining-room but we were not kept waiting long at all. We both opted for the lunch menu, my husband going for the three courses and two for myself. Our meals included the chilli nachos and the small fish and chips, which were plenty, the sticky toffee pudding with custard and the ice-cream. All delicious and excellent value. Will definitely return in the near future.

Really do love this little site for the pub, the location for walks with our dogs . The pitches are adequate could be abit more level but we’ve always managed , toilets and showers are good they were clean and never too busy . Only one down side which had happened here before is people not keeping their dog on leash when on their pitch ours are always tied up on the pitch and when your sat there with a drink or trying to cook on your bbq and a dog comes over to your pitch and our dogs are getting excited and worked up I find it not acceptable.. we saw dog roaming onto another persons pitch and doing its 💩 albeit the owner did go clean it up but why do they think this is acceptable? why do people think it doesn’t apply to their dogs to be kept on leads ?? .. other than that we love staying here and will be back .. the pub is lovely and it’s beautiful sat out along the canal ..!!

We did not have a good experience. The food was mediocre and very overpriced. The plates, cutlery and glasses were all dirty (one glass was covered in old lipstick). One of the dishes had a massive black hair in it (the waitress knocked this off the bill). There were SO many staff but they were all teenagers who really didn’t know what they were doing, some were just loitering by the tills the whole time doing nothing. Overall just very poor and we will not be returning.

Small menu with not many options. Not much of an atmosphere and service was fairly slow for a quiet midweek visit. Well priced but overall nothing to shout home about

8 of us went for an evening meal. The Maitre D' was very rude and i think his saying is "the customer is always wrong." We asked if we could have seperate bills and he said NO. When he gave me the menu, I asked if there was another as the one on the website was different, again he said NO, the one on the website is out of date. One of our party didn't get their starter until we had to find someone and ask for it. The Main meal was awful, no seasoning or flavour. I must say my desert was nice, We were never asked, at any time if everything was alright. We wondered if we were at Faulty towers. When our bill arrived we again asked if he could bring seperated bills, He said " I've already told you NO. During our meal we could hear the Maitre D' telling 1 of the lovely waitresses off in a very loud agressive manner. He is very rude and a bully. He said he had worked there 23 years. God help them. We will NEVER go there again and will advise others not to.

Nice location and friendly welcome. Shown to table 3.30pm, drinks and food ordered 3.35pm. Very pleasant young lady. Drinks arrived at 4pm, starters arrived at 4.20pm. Main course arrived 5.05pm. There were a number of people in the restaurant and all getting tetchy with the delays of service. We asked about late drinks and were informed there's a back up! When the food did arrive it was very good and enjoyable. My issue is the time factor. 25minutes to pour 2 soft drinks! 45 minutes for starters and an hour and half for main courses. We didn't bother with desserts as could have been a further long delay. Be prepared if you go to this restaurant for a long wait. The service and food is very good but they really need to speed up the kitchen service, it's appalling. We won't be rushing back!!

Food was awful - 3 small wedges and came with no dip so was really dry. Salad garnish was also dry leaves with no dressing. Nasty! We were sat outside in the beer garden, the waitress came over and plonked the food down and when I asked for cutlery she told me it was inside and walked off! So I had to leave my food on the table and let the flies get to it whilst I walked all the way back in to find a knife and fork. I found her very rude, perhaps hospitality industry isn't for her.
