Went for a family meal good variety of food reasonably priced good selection excellent staff very nice next to a river excellent location

Visited for the carvery and had a great experience. Our server Lauren was very attentive and helpful and the food was lovely! Will definitely be back soon!

visited the Riverside with friends for a Birthday meal would we go again NO waiting time on orders for drinks was over 15minutes main meal was nearly an hour on asking why it was taking so long we were told our ticket in the kitchen had been behind another ticket so this was causing the delay when the meals came out one friend had a special which resulted in the potatoes being hard another had mixed grill resulting in the steak being full of fat through the middle which totally put her of her meal ..yes the manager did take the cost of the mixed grill off the bill but there was really no apologies for the state of the steak from the manager so no would not go back here again due to lack of interest towards the customer feed back on food .

Went for a carvery today on the spur of the moment, not been here for some time. The food was really really good thoroughly enjoyed it both of us. Vegetables were fresh and very tasty, and to top it off the gravy was excellent. Beautiful location by the river. Definitely recommend.

A midweek visit, all great, plenty of parking. Unusually quiet for this place. We both had the breaded mushrooms which were nice and hot followed by the chicken goujons & chips, overall very good, fully recommended

Brilliant location on the banks of the River Weaver, very nice garden with plenty of seating overlooking the river and also a terrace area with several bench tables also overlooking the river, excellent views of the river and surrounding beautiful countryside. The pub looks old from the outside but the interior is modern with a a large bar and restaurant area serving a very good selection of pub grub and there is a Sunday carvery that looked very busy, generally the pub appears popular.

Superb food menu. Lots of choice and all our meals were of superb quality. Lovely warm welcome and the service was excellent. Dog friendly too. I will strongly recommend a visit and will be returning there myself again soon.

Came tonight after being here many times decided to sit outside was joking with the landlady saying get the last of the sun she said are you eating I said yes we will be she said have u booked I said should we book now as sitting outside with a drink she said no it’s fine just the conservatory is booked came back in half an later to be told no tables 🙈 didn’t seem to have got any busier oh well stretton fox just up the road took our custom

Booked ahead informing that one of the party was vegan, ordered food only to find that they’d just ran out of 1/2 of the vegan options on the menu (the only option that was preferred). Disappointed.

Last Sunday, my family of 5 booked a table for 5:30 so we could have the Sunday Carvery which finishes at 6 pm. When we were seated, we were promptly informed that the Carvery was sold out; very disappointing! Cutting it close - I know, but we felt they should plan to have enough food to cover their bookings. We thought about leaving, but decided to stay & order from the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meals; my husband thought his beef & ale pie was very tasty. My pan roasted chicken was tender. Servings were very generous. The service was good; prompt & pleasant. The country views are what makes this pub/restaurant; although it’s more restaurant than pub. When I return to Cheshire, would I go back, not sure. There are many other nice country pubs in the area to chose from. My advice would be, go for Sunday Lunch if you want The Carvery.

Enjoy every minute. Restaurant was very busy, but staff remained polite and friendly. Food was superb, staff proffesional and with wonderful views.

Total chaos again. Sunday carvery turned into a miserable time The whole place is just chaos Cold food. Only half the carvery available as the dishes were empty and no replacements . Headless chickens running around with no guidance. I ended up leaving with a massive headache and feeling ripped off

Was looking forward to writing good reviews as starter was good, then being a salad it had to be fresh I suppose. Chose a tart with spinach and something, to be honest I forgot what else as only the spinach was identifiable 😵‍💫 Pastry was hard and overcooked. Veg was from the carvery, so dried up and rubbery and the cauliflower was hard 🤨 Dessert was lemon tart but more like cheesecake with what looked like heated cranberry sauce poured over it, I won’t say what it reminded a family member of 🥺 If you like home cooked, non processed food, give it a miss. The plastic strand of what I think should have been a flower and sarsons vinegar bottle should have been a warning sign!

Went for my daughter’s birthday meal on recommendations from a friend. Firstly there was no allergy checks, fortunately none of us has allergies but we are very aware as our small granddaughter has a peanut allergy (thank goodness es she wasn’t with us). We ordered and our starters came and were lovely. No checkback though. Then we waited 50 mins for our mains to come. When I said how much longer I was told rather offhandedly that because we ordered starters they don’t make the mains until we had our starter. Food came and was nice but no one came near to ask if it was ok (check back) and no one offered us to order more drinks. Dessert was good but I won’t rush back due to the poor level of service.

This was our first visit to The Riverside. We received a warm welcome and were quickly seated. We had chicken liver pate and baked feta for starters, lamb shank and pan fried chicken for our main course (both from the specials menu) and lemon tart and caramel tart for dessert. Along with coffees, a pint of Guinness and a pint of lime and lemonade, the bill came to £82. Given the quality of the food and generous portions, we thought this was very good value. We can’t wait to return in daylight to make the most of the riverside setting.

First time for 10 years , food and service great . Makes best of location with river views in the conservatory. Even as a none dog lover our visit was not spoilt

Beautiful place in a lovely setting with friendly welcoming people! The menus are large and the food was excellent we loved the haloumi kebabs and flatbread… ! Highly recommend this restaurant looking forward to returning .

We were a party of four for lunch today. Each of us had a different meal from both the lunch and main menu. All the dishes arrived piping hot and we all agreed they were delicious. The waiting/reception staff were welcoming and very pleasant and efficient. I would recommend the Riverside if you are looking for a warm welcome and well cooked food from a varied menu.

Called in for lunch on the off chance it was dog friendly. The staff couldn’t have done more for us. First time out eating lunch with a 6mth puppy in tow. They had a dog menu along with water bowls, dog blankets and free doggie biscuits. Our meals were delicious too and we look forward to returning again and again. Thanks for giving us a relaxing Sunday afternoon out.

This is not going to be a moaning post. I hope that this is taken as a constructive critism post . So we have tried the Riverside a few times lately. It has upted its anti. The staff are loveley. The food is generally good quality and we like going there . BUT. There is no organisation whatsoever. The staff are like headless chickens running around and no one getting seen too in a descent time when seated. I do not understand why each staff member/waitress etc is not given a bank of tables to look after and concentrate on them. Just to get a drink took 20 mins. The chap and his wife behind us waited 30 mins . The waiting time is rediculous for food and everything associated. Even trying to pay the bill . Please take this on board as a genuine critism and act on it appropriately. You have a nice place here but it needs organisation desperately as far as service is required

We were a family meeting between Halifax andShrewsbury. The facility and staff were warm and welcoming. The drinks were a little pricey. The food was overall ok. The main issue was the time it took to serve the food between courses. We felt that the food delays were possibly because we were a large group (9) . Venues should be able to accommodate large orders in the same way as smaller orders.

Lovely visit for Sunday lunch with a friend, carvery was delicious, children’s menu was also great for toddler and the homemade cloudy lemonade was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were a lot of very tempting options on the menu and I’ll definitely be back to try some of them!

We were warmly welcomed and taken to our table. Our drinks order was taken within minutes. Very soon after our food order was taken. The food was excellent and we were asked by the waitress during the meal if everything was okay. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Collette, our waitress was very pleasant and very efficient. We enjoyed the experience very much.

We were so looking forward to our meal. But the poor amount of staffing was so bad. It took 15 mins for them to see we were waiting to be seated. Then the service just got poorer and poorer in terms of waiting time. There were only 2 staff on a Friday night. We like others ended up going to the bar to get top up drinks. We also decided to abandon desserts as service was taking so long. Please don’t get me wrong, the 2 staff that were there were really friendly. But the wait time from the minute we got in the door to the end trying to get the bill (again a trip to the bar to do that) soured the evening.

Fab food and service throughout. Although there were 21 of us, including young children, nothing was too much trouble - clearly a busy restaurant, well staffed, efficient and friendly.

Warm welcome and lovely, attentive staff. Food was excellent and we didn't have to wait too long. The chilli fries are amazing - proper pulled beef and a good slow burner chilli heat. My mum ate every piece of scampi. Will definitely be back.
